East London Restaurants Offer Delivery and Takeaway Through Lockdown - Eater London

"Don’t be put off by the offer of takeaway pizza and chips on the menu — some of the best Afghan food in the area happens to come out of this little eatery’s doors. Takeaway and delivery are possible and there are few dishes not to love. Borani-e-bademjan, fried aubergines served with yoghurt and dry fruit; chapli kebab, huge lamb patties studded with coriander seeds and pearls of onion; and the signature Qabuli pulao are all highlights." - Angela Hui, Shekha Vyas

Where to Eat in London This Weekend | Best London Restaurants | Eater London

"Don’t be put off by a takeaway counter or billboard; the interior opens into a pleasantly panelled dining room with a back dais for traditional, cross-legged seating and authentic Afghan cooking. Expect juicy mantoo bursting with seasoned mince, multi-textured naan with pillowy edges and a crisp interior, and huge chapli kebabs studded with tomato and sweet onion and perked with coriander and chilli seeds. Qabuli palow arrives as a sultana-studded mountain of rice hiding a tender lamb shank, while borani-e-bandenjan — fried aubergine smothered with yoghurt and dry mint — is nuanced and reassuring for vegetarian diners; stews, karahis and grilled meats complete a menu that rewards further exploration." - Anna Sulan Masing

We got recommended to come here. Got warned don't judge from the outside and ask for a table at the counter. The restaurant is tucked out the back past the kitchen. You walk into a lively and lovely restaurant. No more than a dozen tables. Met with smiles from the staff. Food was really nice and plenty of it. Price was very reasonable. Will definitely go back and would highly recommend. A good mix of afghan food with a western influence.

A True Taste of Afghanistan at Chapandaz Restaurant! If you’re looking for an authentic Afghan dining experience, look no further than Chapandaz in East Ham! From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, making me feel right at home. I had the Mumtaz Meal, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of spectacular. The rice was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of fluffiness and flavor. The chicken was tender and seasoned beautifully, while the lamb skewers were perfectly charred and juicy. Every bite was packed with deliciousness – the combination of the savory meat, fragrant rice, and fresh, crisp salad was simply unbeatable. Honestly, I’ve never had a more satisfying meal. The flavors were rich, aromatic, and so well-balanced that each dish complemented the others perfectly. If you’re a fan of authentic Afghan cuisine, Chapandaz will leave you wanting more. The service was also friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall incredible experience. Highly recommend this gem if you’re in the area – it’s hands down one of the best meals I’ve had!

The food is absolutely delicious — the Kabuli pilau with lamb shank literally melts in your mouth. The staff are incredibly friendly and kind, and the food isn’t even overpriced. The seating is lovely and comfortable, with both table and floor seating available. I honestly couldn’t fault this restaurant. It’s definitely underrated; everything we tried was perfectly cooked and full of wonderful flavours.

Nice ambience. Place a bit tacky but one could understand restaurants in East London are in shop spaces. Long opening hours are extremely likeable. Food is great, especially kebabs both chicken and lamb. Karhais are their speciality. Overall great tasting food served hot.

Great local restaurant. The place had a nice ambience and polite staff. We ordered the mixed platter for 2-3 (+ a separate plate of grill meat with rice), lamb curry, pizza, chips and for dessert the hand churned ice cream. The grilled meat was simple, but flavourful, all the meats were moist and utterly enjoyed it. Plenty of rice was given, with some bread and roast potatoes, both equally as good. The curry itself was decent tasting, but for £12… the portion was on the smaller side. Handmade ice cream was not bad and the portion is good enough to share for two. We’d be happy to come back! Altogether, we spent a little over £100, due to the price we scored it 4/5 as other places offer a little bit more for the price (such as cold starters and more meat in the platter).

Just had lunch and wow — the food was so good! The mix grill was perfectly cooked, super juicy, and full of flavor. You could tell it was fresh off the grill with that perfect smoky taste. The Charsi Chicken Karahi was another standout — spicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sauce was so delicious that we couldn’t resist dipping the naan into every last bit. The service was warm and welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back— highly recommended!

It was three of us. Ordered the mix grill 4-5. Surprisingly we were able to finish the food, good portion. The flavour of the grill chicken and kebab was very nice, flavourful and delicious. However it was a little just a tad dry, the chops could have been a little more juicier. The rice was nice and aromatic. All in all, was a good experience. One thing I’d suggest for improvement is maybe changing spices up instead of using the same on chicken and meat. Service was brilliant, efficient and very helpful.
