"Open daily from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., it seems like all of Lockhart passes through these doors at least once a day. Toasts, sandwiches, beer, and wine complement the robust java menu." - Darcie Duttweiler

I enjoyed my time at Chaparral Coffee. It has a nice view of the town square. The Big Garden Sammi was delicious, and so too was the chai latte. Service was efficient and quick. Staff are very nice. Great ambiance and selection of music, which is neither too loud nor obnoxious. A great place to stop if you are in the quaint town of Lockhart, TX.

Honestly, I did not like this place at all. My girlfriend and I really tried to like it after reading all the good reviews. We gave it multiple chances, and every time it disappointed. The coffee was watered down, the matcha was clumpy, and I paid for the price of a full sandwich and received half of it. The atmosphere and decor were great, but the coffee/food itself left much to be desired. I love local coffee shops but this was not it.

Lisa Munoz

Google
My go-to locally owned coffee shop in Lockhart. The staff is always friendly and kind, my iced oat lattes are always delicious and the food is YUM! Love the breakfast sandwiches.

Google
This is a cool breakfast place in Lockhart, everything is simple but tasted good. The coffee was really good; we got a Cold Brew and a regular latte. I'm glad Lockhart is now having good restaurants.

Google
Absolutely 100% phenomenal. The americano was amazingly tasty, the service was quick, the staff were super kind, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the music was chill. The storefront sits just off of the town square across the street from a magnificent courthouse...absolutely stunning. We recommend 100%! Enjoy/disfruta! 💯🔥

Google
Very nice little coffee shop on the square in Lockhart. My favorite things about this place: large variety of options "milk" for your coffee. The coffee itself is heavy bodied but not at all acidic. No wait time, plenty of seating. Cozy vibe.

Google
Excellent espresso and lattes! The location is perfect for stopping by if you’re in downtown, and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere was very rustic and chill, and it’s great for studying, working, or just hanging out. There is some front outdoor tables as well!

My daughter and I stopped in here for a quick treat. We don't go to coffee shops often, so I was confused on what to order. The barista was amazing! She was super sweet, and explained each item on the menu to me. She recommended the Peppermint Mocha, so we got two Iced Peppermint Mochas. They were delicious! they had a hint of peppermint, but not too much. The atmosphere was nice, with vining devil's ivy trailing along the walls. The inside was small, but not cramped, with maybe 4-5 small tables and some barstools. The bathroom was tight, but clean and tidy. Overall great experience.

Yelp
Quaint small town vibe, cold day, the smell of a wood burning fire in the air... Lights wrapped around the pillars out front of this tiny little cafe boasting a top notch menu, with home roasted beans, wine, and beer! Bistro tables out front and jazzy cafe music setting the mood inside while you wait for some REALLY GREAT COFFEE! The staff was super friendly (I'm a talker) and they even worked a little magic to customize my breakfast taco. I'm gonna remember this place! Day Trip to the beach & Lockhart will now be a stop on my adventure. Yummy!

Yelp
I stopped by at CC on our way to south padre, I liked it so much so had to stop by while coming back, it was Sunday late afternoon, so there weren't much people, so was able to order as soon I stepped in, ordered drip, but it was barely warm, so I let the girl behind the counter know about it, he took my cup and realized it was barely warm, so she made a fresh pot, and it was so so good, I think I liked there drip even more than the cappuccino, such a lovely place with friendly service and positive vibes with solid coffee options, what more you can ask for:))

Tim C.

Yelp
Picked up a great iced coffee and a cappucino at this little coffee shop. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was their machine for making frappes was broken and the reviews on frappes led us to this place. Oh well, the drinks we did get were exemplary.

Isaac R.

Yelp

Keally D.

Yelp
Great coffee. I had a flat white to go which was very good. We also bought beans to bring home as well.

Denise S.

Yelp
Chai and avocado toast was really great but customer service could be a lot better. So if you don't mind that then come here. It's a cute little cafe so you could do homework here or just nice to sit outside on the patio.

Zack B.

Yelp
The best place hands down in Lockhart for coffee! All the food they make there is awesome too. Austin and the staff are super friendly! I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so!. Truly a Lockhart gem.

Shradha A.

Yelp
This is the most perfect small town coffee shop with the sweetest friendliest person behind the counter, ample seating options inside and out, the best chai latte I've ever had and truly delicious gluten-free pumpkin bread. Reasonable prices, excellent preparation, clean bathroom, inviting decor and space. Loved it!

Eric G.

Yelp
Dropped by to pick up coffee (and use the bathroom) while taking a walk around downtown Lockhart. It's right on the square across from the beautiful courthouse. They have a reasonable amount of indoor and outdoor seating, given the small footprint they have. It's also on the more hipster/modern side of things when it comes to coffee shops - nice to have that option in a relatively rural town! Overall the coffee choices were pretty typical, and it tasted great. I'd stop by again if in town for sure.

Sara M.

Yelp
Very cute spot with about 8 tables, simple breakfast items and very good coffee with local texan beans and milk. Super unfriendly staff though. And food was not seasoned! Would be back just for the cortado.

W C.

Yelp
We stopped here on Saturday morning for some coffees. It's a cute little spot on the main square, but we'd recommend getting drinks only instead of food (which was unequivocally terrible). The cold brews are good and bless their hearts for using crushed ice. Our daughter got a hot chocolate and a coffee cake, which tasted like saw shavings it was so completely dried out and unappetizing. The real fright was the kolache though: a deflated bun with HALF a sliced and bizarrely chewy sausage in it. It was the absolute worst one that we have ever had. Just: Yikes. Anyway, friendly service and a cute vibe...but stick with the beverages.

Victoria R.

Yelp
Excellent latte and yummy sami's- we got a Turkey Sami and a little garden Sami for the road. Sweet spot!

Shane S.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop with a hidden outside seating area out back. Really good sandwiches and great coffee at a fair price. The coffee drinks come up fast. The food orders take a few minutes but, it's made to order so it's worth the wait. You can get a beer here as well. They also have seating out front so you can socialize while sipping on your latte. Definitely stop in here if you're on the square.

Ky C.

Yelp
Highly recommend the chai tea here, the drip coffee was also good. The grilled cheese was delicious, the other sandwich was not anything special, but a decent sandwich. Service was very helpful in offering recommendations and letting me know the chai tea was spicy and having actual spicy chai tea! Everything was served on the cutest plates and lil cups, will go again if i find myself back in Lockhart.

Ken C.

Yelp
When I'm visiting my hometown, I stop by Chaparral a few times a day for well-made coffee and some social interaction. The staff is friendly and the vibe is chill and upbeat. Nice view of the historic courthouse. Wine and beer available in the evening.

Sarah S.

Yelp
The freshest food you can find in the area! The owner and staff are very friendly and the food is so good! We've only been for breakfast so far, but it's now one of our go-tos. I enjoy the half lil' garden Sammy and my husband enjoys the early bird (two eggs, ham or bacon, sourdough toast and a small arugula salad.

Tina M.

Yelp
Chaparral is an amazing little coffee shop situated just in front of the (very cute and dollhouse-like) Caldwell County Courthouse in Lockhart, the so-called BBQ capital of Texas. It stands among the best coffee shops I've ever had the pleasure to visit, serving perfect espresso drinks, hot and cold, and the best Iced Mexican Mocha Latte I've ever tasted in my life. In fact, I'd go as far as admitting that Chaparral is, in my opinion, THE best coffee shop in the larger Austin metropolitan area, dethroning all other coffee shops in a 60 miles radius thanks to its consistency, impeccable service, delectable locally sourced pastries, and delicious blends. On Monday evenings, the coffee shops transforms into a sort of bar, serving alcoholic drinks and featuring local DJs and their music. I highly recommend you stop by Chaparral if you ever happen to be driving by Lockhart. You won't regret it and you'll also get to enjoy the view of the nearby town square as a bonus.

Laura E.

Yelp
This is ridiculous. I'm a loyal customer of chaparral. Mostly for the food. I've gone before to order inside the store and as stated in my previous review, staff seemed more interested in socializing than making my order in a timely manner. The favor driver I ordered from also experienced the same slowness. However today I ordered like I usually do and found a hair in my egg. This is why you need hair nets and beard nets. I just cut off the part that had the hair and ate because I'm at work and have so much time to eat. Disappointing.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Was really impressed with the iced pecan coffee. Definitely a gem in downtown Lockhart and the coffee is just delicious.

Jo K.

Yelp
This is such a great find here in Lockhart. The food is locally sourced, there are plenty of vegetarian options and the coffee is delicious. I have been here a couple of times for lunch and plan on coming here often.

Leepe O.

Yelp
Small town hospitality and far superior to Starbucks or and other chain! Great atmosphere and the hot cocoa and coffees were AMAZING! Walking around town today taking in the small town culture and this place didn't disappoint! A+

Danika L.

Yelp
I love this cute coffee shop across from the beautiful courthouse in downtown Lockhart. I was in town for a week and found this little gem, and went there every morning. My favorite drink was the golden milk.

Erica A.

Yelp
Stopped in this lovely little place on our way to Austin - And glad we did!!! We had pour over coffee that was a true delight! We also had the hot chocolate which is another treat they offer! Worth stopping by!

Mel A.

Yelp
I've been a faithful customer since they opened over 5 years ago but I have noticed their customer service has declined in the last few months. I've ignored their slowness and unfriendliness but today they failed to make our coffee and when I asked about it after waiting for 15 minutes, I couldn't believe the response I got. Basically telling me that they didn't have it in their system. After showing my receipt they continued to argue telling me they charged me for one not 2 coffees. Not once apologizing. I assumed they were making my coffee and found out they weren't . When I asked about it again they continued to argue. I asked at what point do you apologize to the customer instead of arguing. A simple " I'm so sorry we'll take care of it right away" would have been enough. I actually had to ask the girl to Stop Arguing. She stormed off and then her manager told me they've been busy, I said I understand things happen but the attitude is not acceptable. Her response was "we don't talk to our staff" that way. " My response "so you'd rather argue with your customer than apologize for a mistake you made... there's something wrong with this. Are you going to make our coffee or not?" Reply "yes we'll make your coffee... what did you order?" I refuse to support a business who does not believe in the value of customer service. Don't they understand, that without customers you don't have a business?? Mind boggling. Anyhow today is the last time I'll give Chaparral Coffee my money. Good luck.

Yelp
Great little coffee spot in the main part of town. Staff was friendly and coffee was great! Also, thought prices were inexpensive

Yola A.

Yelp
They had the best peanut butter, jelly and banana sandwich. Absolutely will stop by again

Amanda B.

Yelp
Order a white chocolate mocha and you can't even taste the coffee/espresso it was more of a flavored water. I was hoping for something really good. Very disappointed. I do not recommend this place

Rodrigo S.

Yelp
This is pretty much the only coffee option in Lockhart, but it is pretty good. They have been very helpful during Covid19. They added more than just coffee and online ordering to make it easier and safer for everyone. And a few small groceries that have actually prevented us from having to go to HEB or Walmart. The crew has always been very friendly and helpful.

Nick J.

Yelp
This coffee shop is great! Highly recommend the iced Pecan Toddy (so good it I got it two days in a row) and the hot Mexican Mocha. The breakfast sandwiches are also delicious!! Super friendly staff with quick service. Thanks Chaparral Coffee for fueling our drive back to Austin!

Goodhearted W.

Yelp
Duh. Pecan Toddy all day! Midnight Mondays are the jam. Fern is the best, Melissa too. And of course Austin. Neighborly!

Hilary G.

Yelp
Stopped by here once during a visit, and I thought it was a cute place, pretty good coffee, friendly service. Nothing too exciting, but decent.

Stephen S.

Yelp
Delicious strong Cafe Latte. Put an extra shot and it really rounds it out. High quality beans used.

Carol G.

Yelp
Great spot for a coffee and a snack. Friendly service and a nice place to chill out in back. We always stop here after a trip for BBQ. the best Mexican Mocha too!

Kenta N.

Yelp
Great coffee. Got myself a bag before I left. The food here is great as far as I can tell. I highly recommend the everything bagel. Probably one of the best I've had. Only drawback that I could see is there's only one guy behind the counter but even considering that he does an amazing job making sure everything comes out in a timely manner.

Natalie R.

Yelp
Best coffee shop in town and better than anything in Austin. Lockhart is lucky as hell to have this place!

Erica L.

Yelp
First time in Lockhart, new to Texas, drove here from cedar park for the day. Heard this place was a great coffee shop to visit. Walked in , girl at counter didn't even make eye contact to say hello, waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged, the gentleman next to us knew what he wanted so we let him go ahead of us, still waiting at counter she then helped and called on the two people in the line next to us and again didn't acknowledge our presence, so we left to go to Cafe next door to get coffee. Not a great first impression. I work in customer service, this was not good service at all ! Will not be back.

johana m.

Yelp
Excellent coffee the lady at the bar was super helpful with us giving us advice about where to explore town. We defined will come back. Heads up there is just one barista so if the coffee is busy you may need to do a little line. However the wait is worthy! Try the Mexican mocha!

Rani A.

Yelp
First time in Lockhart, and there's only one coffee shop. Fortunately, it's a great stop. I think as far as coffee is concerned, it's on point with most coffee places. What gets the 5 stars is the barista with a fantastic personality. We stopped in for a coffee and ended up getting a ton of great info on the town, and shared quite a few laughs. She set the tone for my visit to the city. Now I know there's more than just BBQ in Lockhart. Thanks, Jana!

Mindi S.

Yelp
Great spot on a dreary rainy afternoon. We all enjoyed our coffee drinks and the cookie! Perfect spot to visit with family after a BBQ lunch!!

Julie Z.

Yelp
Lovely service, wonderful product, perfect price. It's nice to support a local business here in Lockhart. I have enjoyed teas, regular coffee and a couple iced mochas here and they are all wonderful. They have free wifi if you need to take care of some business.

Jesse G.

Yelp
I love this place! Great people. Great coffee. Relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be coming here often.

Anna B.

Yelp
The only bad thing about this spot is that it's far from my house. I got the pecan toddy which was just enough sweet to not over power, but enhance the other flavors in the drink. It was iced and perfect to walk around the square and enjoy the sites of the beautiful courthouse right across the way. My bf had the Mexican mocha or something like that, also tasty with just enough cinnamon to taste like a cross between abuelita's coffee and a mocha latte. Idk, it was good.

Stuart D.

Yelp
What a gem that I was not expecting to find in Lockhart! Great ambience and food. Enjoyed doing Algebra there with my son over some nice drinks and food yesterday.

Shawn J.

Yelp
Awesome! Finally a coffee shop in Lockhart. And a great one, at that! I fled Austin for the country after living there for over 15 years, and the only thing that really stung was easy access to good coffee. Excited to see what they do in the next year- I have a good feeling about this place. -Excellent cold brew! Since it's rarely cold here, the iced toddy has got to be on point. It is. -Friendly, non-elitist barista vibes (honestly, I don't really care about that kind of thing- if the coffee is good, but I know a lot of people do- so consider that a bonus!) -Espresso is yesso!

Mauricio P.

Yelp
Surprising coffee place in an unexpected place. This nice coffee shop in a beautiful building could easily be place in a little town in Italy. Excellent coffee, real americano's and delicious cappuccinos. The staff was supper friendly .

Christina F.

Yelp
Great find. Very nice barista! Baked goods are excellent and loose tea was spot on!!

Mindy H.

Yelp
Chaparral Coffee is amazing! After an afternoon of glutinous BBQ eating in Lockhart you need a jolt of delicious coffee to get you out of your food coma stupor. The space is humble and quaint. With touches of organic nature that are calming. It felt more like a coffee shop you would find in the Pacific Northwest. There is a small space with a couple of tables at the front to sit and enjoy your coffee inside. The barista was incredibly nice. They have a great selection of iced cold brews, espresso, tea and pastries. It was late afternoon when I visited and there were only a few edible items left, so they must run out fast. The pecan toddy was AMAZING! My normal coffee was also delicious. Brewed perfectly. They use the beans of a new coffee roaster from Austin that I had not heard of before, Barrett's Micro Roast coffee. I would definitely stop in here again when I am next in town.

Brandon G.

Yelp
Always quaint, cool and on point. My little neighborhood coffee shop! F* Starbucks! I like supporting local businesses and the cold brew at Chaparral is a force to be reckoned with. I'll keep coming back for sure.

Sarah R.

Yelp
Chaparral is a beautiful local coffee spot. I tell my friends who are visiting Lockhart that I don't just go here because it's the only coffee shop in town, I go here because it's actively good. I'm a fan of the cold brew with a splash of pecan toddy or an iced tea made with yaupon. They recently added delicious sandwiches and they also serve beer and wine. Monday nights they stay open late and have a DJ playing records. It's an intimate spot and is a nice place to come work on your laptop or hang with a friend.

Richard R.

Yelp
Not a good place, I went there to try it and asked for a cold coffee, he pulled out cold coffee put it a cup and said the cream and sugar are on the bar. Never coming back, I can do that at home and for free.
