The 25 Best Restaurants In Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Open Market is a hybrid cafe-corner store on the bottom floor of an office building, where you can stroll in for a coffee, pastry, or bottle of wine. But what differentiates this Ktown spot from every other cute, trendy mini-mart is its one-of-a-kind sandwiches. From the “Alhambra” Hainanese chicken salad to the “Mariposa” with al pastor-style mushrooms, each one pulls inspiration from a different area of LA. Our go-to order is the “Normandie, “a juicy brisket sandwich with pickled radish and scallions that tastes like the lovechild of a classic French dip and a bowl of beef noodle soup." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins

When i visit this place I recognize the store as an important place for me to have available to me in my adventures. Honestly, I buy lighters often, as a consequence of my living arrangements. My preference in this store is product presentation & surrounding store atmosphere. The staff seem to have clear & health social boundaries, which make my visits positive social experiences that I add to my overall experience of my adventures. I mean would you prefer a better experience of your mundane life?

Staff are lovely, I've been to pick up water/drinks a few times because it's open so late which is great, but it would seem the stock they keep can be quite old for snacks (chocolate - was stale/donuts - had fluffy mould on them) so have been a waste of money.

Google
Two stars for the hispanic guy. Negative review for the guy who works during daytime. Weird beer is literally a block away so i would recommend going there. One more good thing about this place is they carry ben and jerrys. I was a semi regular but will never step my foot in this store ever again. I would rather have my business and my staffs business somewhere else. This era is all about customer service, if you aint nice to the customer they'll hold a grudge given the fact that they did nothing wrong to receive such behavior.

Google
Always good service and always good vibes from the staff behind the counter whenever I go to this store and I ride a bicycle there most of the time and if i am ALONE they always let me park my bicycle inside the store to avoid it getting stolen while DOWNTOWN And while you shop the person behind the counter will even KEEP a Eye on your bicycle for you 👌👍👍I love this store DOWNTOWN Los Angeles while shopping out on my bicycle 👍👍✌

The two younger guys who work here are great guys. That's the only reason I would give 2 stars instead of 1. The owner is a crook. I noticed he charged me an extra buck on $13 cigs and a beer a week ago. I pointed it out to him and he was apologetic about it. I figured everyone makes mistakes. Well recently I come in every day for a small yerba mate before work. He charges me 2.95 every day. I come one day when someone else is working and find out he's been overcharging me $.50 every day on a can. I know, $.50, not a big deal. But supporting a small business like that every day and the owner ringing things up with an extra .50 or a dollar is so low its unreal. Especially when I go in every f****** day. It's a convenient spot but if the owner is there just know it's probably gonna be a lil extra. Most of the stuff isn't priced out front for a reason.

Google
Reasonably priced and the staff is always friendly.

Google
These guys are the best. They have wide sets of hours so the chances are if you're walking around DTLA they're open and have cheap drinks and food.

M Milo

Google
Great selection for such a small store, and open until 2am! Prices are comparable to a supermarket as well. Great staff too!

Yelp
Can't say good enough things about Juanice and the local crew at Chapman. AWESOME people. And in the middle of this pandemic, they are not upcharging. They have eggs and paper towels to boot!

Sabrina M.

Yelp
A GEM! Put some respect on their name. Free Delivery, unheard of A very iykyk spot All negative feedback is from transplants new to LA MIND YOUR BUSINESS AND MOVE ALONG!
google avatar

Nora S.

Yelp
This store was the only one that was there for us during the riots and stayed open during all this covid bullcrap. Its a family store that knows us all personally and knows our needs and we wouldn't of survived if they wouldn't of stayed open for us. All the workers and management are great!! Very friendly, positive people. Thanks Chapman market
google avatar

Marcia M.

Yelp
Chapman market is hands down the best market in DTLA . All staff are friendly and the owner awesome always cheerful and make sure customers are taken care of... Thanks Chapman Market!!!!

Elizaveta K.

Yelp
It's a really nice courtyard with unique and private atmosphere. You can find here some different places to eat and drink tea or coffee. Also there is shop with an asian cosmetic here. I think Chapman Market is a great place to go with you friends.

Brandon M.

Yelp
I have been going to this very convenient market since I moved to dtla months ago, and it was great in the pre-covid times. Friendly workers, good selection for a neighborhood market, etc. But they are a Coronovirus nightmare now. No one- including staff- with masks navigating a small store. I live very nearby and worry about even passing people exiting on the street. It seems to attract people who aren't taking the pandemic seriously like moths to a lightbulb, and makes me feel like the next superspreader event might not be at an arena or concert, but rather the convenience store down the street. I was willing to give them some leeway earlier this year, but no more after what I've seen over the last three months. SHUT IT DOWN NOW.

Yelp
My favorite market in DTLA, sincerely. High quality selection of fine wines, champagne, craft beers, kombucha, coconut water & other unique beverages. They carry my favorite brand of waters and kombucha. (Raw Harvest Coconut water & HealthAid Kombucha). The staff is always polite, professional & helpful.. Highly recommended~

Yelp
Everyone working here is stoned as fuck. Not "Is this guy high?" stoned. I'm talking parallel universe stoned. Great place to buy booze.

hugh e.

Yelp
Hands down best market in the world! The manager Wannice is a great guy going out of his way to stock special items for customers. The place can become more of a hang out then a market at times with Reggaetón fridays and the energy all the guys bring. It's kinda amazing all what this market stocks. For its size you can get some form of nearly everything youd find at a much bigger location. If they don't have it ask wannice! The one clerk always has me dying with laughter I think his name is Tony! Highly recommend this joint!

Yelp
Chapman Market is a gem in the heart of downtown, LA. Bf and I accidentally came across this place while roaming about through the mean streets of LA. The staff was very friendly. The Chapman Market has wines, grocery items, including Japanese sencha.
google avatar

Vincent V.

Yelp

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE. a real gem downtown. i just ordered some snacks and drinks to be delivered, super friendly and helpful and went out of his way to make sure i got what i wanted. every time i go in to the store, the guys working make me feel like we're old buddies, giving free lighters and wine openers is an added bonus! UPDATE!: when i called to order i asked for a frozen pizza but they only had personal size and i was hoping for digorno..when he came to deliver, he told me he threw in a personal pizza "just in case"! amazing customer service...going above and beyond jus to be nice is a RARE thing these days. THANK YOU!!!

Yelp
Great little shop. Good selection of beer and wine Friendly staff Open late, which is nice.
google avatar

Krystyna C.

Yelp
I love the Chapman Market! They literally deliver anything you want 24/7 no matter how shameful you feel for being lazy and asking the poor delivery man to come with Ice Cream and water. They are always so kind and friendly and I love how they deliver alcohol in dtla! Amazing!! You are simply the best Chapman market!

Yelp
Been going here pretty frequently for the past year. The two younger guys who work here are really great guys. Nice to deal with. That's the only reason I would give 2 stars instead of 1. Yelp
Only place I can find interesting drinks and candy! Better prices than CVS. And they do free delivery! Best fine wine and beers! Even swishers! Cashier is always nice and handsome!! Owner is cool too! Catch him on a good day for local discount.
google avatar

Jaelynne A.

Yelp
My favorite nearby market by far! They are open late, great guys, with a decent selection considering the size of the store. I recommend them for wine, beer, sodas, and snacks. They also have refrigerated sandwiches. The smokes selection is very good. Keep in mind that they do not sell liquor.
google avatar

Yelp
The owner is a super nice and friendly guy! I always stop by every time I'm in the area. Good variety of snacks and drinks.
google avatar

Mari A.

Yelp
I live down the street. I ordered a six pack of beer and a bottle of wine at 1:45am and it was at my door before 2am. I did not even know that Chapman market delivers alcohol. They even threw in a bag of ice on the house without asking. A1 service! I would definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Hello Yelp-ers and Yelp-ettes, This review is in response to Sadie D's blistering, unfounded review of the wonderful Chapman Market. I live right next door to the quaint little Chapman, and let me tell you, when the clock hits midnight and I find myself without any toilet paper, batteries, or high-alcohol-percentage beer, I head straight for the neighborhood Chappy. Despite what Sadie D's uninformed review would lead you to believe, I have NEVER seen any Chap Chap employee talking on the phone while working there. In fact, Chapman Market doesn't even HAVE phones. Why would they have a phone when they don't even have a cash register? Answer that one, Sadie. As far as Sadie's comment that the store sometimes closes for lunch at noon, I can tell you assuredly that her assertion is misinformed. The Chapman Market doesn't even OPEN until 3 p.m. everyday, or whenever their employees happen to jolt out of their blackout slumbers and shuffle hungover into work. So in closing, I hope the next time you're stranded downtown and have nowhere else to turn for supplies, and I mean NOWHERE ELSE, you'll give the little old Chapman Market a try. Also, the market has old movie photographs all over the walls so it feels exactly how I imagine Hollywood feels, altough I've never been to Hollywood so who knows.

Florence L.

Yelp
The guy who works there is super awesome. The store has everything a little mart needs to carry. It clean and neat and right next to all the stores and restaurants, so its in a very convenient place. He even kicked me a free liter. He rocks.
google avatar

Thomas M.

Yelp
I have to tell you, Joshua's review below is spot on. BUT, I asked them if they had any good beer, and the Chap/man pointed me in the right direction, so you know, what more can you ask for.
google avatar

Bryant R.

Yelp
this place is the jump off. run by some of the coolest fellas around. they really listen to their customers and keep stocking up on all these new items when we request them. even if i just ask if they have something in stock, like gummi bears for instance, they'll respond generally with 'i am gonna put them on the next order for you'. other bonus points for: - free delivery within a couple blocks of the spot - good conversation - they let me bring my dog inside - HD tv on the wall so in the event there's a small line you're never bored - new fancy crackers/cheese/sausage selection - proper beer selection i've probably been inside of roughly 50 other small markets in DTLA, this one makes them all seem crappy in comparison. i'm lucky to have them on my block. like tyler below me, that negative review from Sadie D below is also what prompted me to log into yelp acct just to write a far more accurate description of the place i visit at least once a day. big up chapman market!

Yelp
Delivery on new years day... EPIC. No minimum just call and ask for the munchies ur too lazy to get urself !!!

Masa K.

Yelp
I am a fan of C Stores. A big fan. 7-Eleven, ampm, Circle K - you name it. I am a junkie for small bags of chips, greasy hot dogs, insanely large and bladder-bursting sodas, candy, and sunflower seeds. There is a comfort that I get in the core of my soul when I see the lights glowing out of a still-open store on an otherwise dark (and often times, dank) street at 2:30 AM. Despite its midnight closing time, I like Chapman Market because it is there for you when you really need it to be. Whether you are thirsty on a blazing summer day, or maybe you just need a pack of damn tampons and you just don't feel like walking to Walgreens or RiteAid on 7th, Chapman's got your back. Of course, as we all know, little else can compete with the satiation one gets from blazing through a bag of potato chips after a couple drinks at the local bars (RIP, King Eddy). Chapman's got you there, too.

Yelp
These guys are DOPE! It's nice to have a store in your neighborhood where the guys behind the counter remember you, cut you some slack if your a couple cents short, and throw in a free lighter:) It's the people that really make a place, and we definitely lucked out with the guys over at Chapmans. Can't wait to see what the pizza like at the spot they're opening up next door:)
google avatar

Sarah Z.

Yelp
These guys are awesome. They deliver, stock things you want, and they got your back.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Best mini market ever! Has everything I want and is always open when I need it to be. Friendly people work there and it is decorated nicely. Great beer and wine selection too!
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best and coolest mini market in the world. This place is freaking amazing when it comes to mini marts. Awesome selection of beer and wine. Great snacks and even a DVD renting machine. The movie posters and flat screen TV really give this place a hollywood feel. Gotta love the 10% discount for residents!!!
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
Great store, great location, very friendly staff, always feel welcomed when I walk-in, always have great deals on their beer selection. They even sale pet food. Pretty much has everything I need. George represents the store very well. Best convenience store in the neighborhood. and open till 2am. Doesn't get any better then that.

Yelp
The best. That's all. I havn't tried the pizza next door but I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say it's good as well.

Alejandro C.

Yelp
Chapman market is my Go to spot for everything I need. The beer and wine selection is amazing. All their products are high end and reasonably priced. The staff is always fun and and very helpful. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

Yelp
very convenient, friendly personnel and reasonable prices comparing to any market within the area. tnt
