How You Can Take An Audio Tour of Historic Food Hall Swan’s Market Guided by Oakland Youth | Eater SF

"I discovered Chapter 510 is a youth literary arts nonprofit that produced the Swan’s Market audio tours as its first self-guided walking-tour audio project; Elena Botkin-Levy served as the teaching artist, working with students on interviewing and radio production, and the organization runs a wide range of writing and arts programs for young people (novel and short story writing, screenplays, songwriting, college essay prep) with an emphasis on publishing Black, brown, and queer youth. Inspired by 826 Valencia, Chapter 510 moved from its original location at 2301 Telegraph Avenue to the Swan’s Market space in April 2021, plans to run more podcasting programs, and will resume field trips in the spring." - Paolo Bicchieri

I wandered into this place after losing track of my friends when shopping nearby. My phone was dead and I needed to ask directions. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and helped me get where I needed. I wish I had had time to look around at the artistic goods they had for sale, but I will be back to shop next time I'm in Old Town Oakland. The nonprofit they are affiliated does really cool work too, so I'm happy to learn about it through this business!

This place is horrible, I was coming in to buy a Hoodia, but after the rude associate, kept pointing to what I was looking for instead of getting up from behind the computer, it was like I pissed her off or interrupted her day. She kept pointing to the merchandise but I didn't see it. After seeing that she had intentions on not helping me I left.

Amazing venue 10/10 has everything you need for an event. Very casual and cozy area with choices to customize like the chalkboard mural but also the cool couches to make everything feel homy! Loved it the bathrooms are gender neutral and the stage set up is nice with two mics and loud speaker. Carpet steps for dancing and singing performances! Easy for audience members to sit and watch! Loved it! Dream venue for our API talent show event.

Awesome place for kids and adults to make books together. a non profit organization that's a complete benefit to our younger generation. Makes you want to create and think through the making of books by making your mind
