"Char Pit is a classic, straightforward, walk-in burger place, so don’t bother looking for a website, Instagram, or place to order online. Opened in 1962, Char Pit is a King’s Beach burger institution with a surprisingly good veggie option and fries that always have the perfect level of crunch. Like any good old-school burger joint, they also do oversized shakes and sundaes. While most people eat at the outdoor picnic tables, it’s also only a block from the beach, so you can get your burgers to go and have a low-key lakeside picnic. " - suzie dundas

I’ll give two stars because the kids liked their hamburgers ok. But if you want great burgers, then go to Incline Burgers, much better! The veggie burgers were tasteless and cold, but the fish tacos were disgusting! The fish was overcooked to the point of being almost black, with a hard, dry tiny piece of fish in the middle…yuck!

Amazing hole in the wall place with BBQ ribs and burgers. Everything was very tasty, and portion sizes were large. There was a pretty long wait time, though. Overall a nice, hidden place for a good burger.

The food was so insanely delicious. Had to wait about 30-45 minutes, but we had a big order and it's Friday night so 🤷 I recommend the Yankee Burger with onions and their delicious onion rings. The ranch is really good too. Very efficient for it being rush hour. Should add... don't plan to park here. Tiny parking lot

If you are looking for a hole in the wall that serves a great burger in North Lake Tahoe, look no farther. The burgers were all great, and my wife was able to get a Portobello sandwich. The fries were also hot and crispy. Everything is cooked to order and they are small, so this leads to a little bit of a wait time. But it is well worth it.

Absolute rip off. High school kids running the place who have no idea what they are doing nor saying. They tell you to look at the huge menu board inside. The prices are written tiny on small tape. Then when you get the bill, it's 3x more than the board says. We then asked why the bill is so much higher and were told by an employee that the board menu is way outdated and we were supposed to look at the paper menu hidden in a bucket.

Veggie burger was decent. House salad was a joke (burger toppings only, no attempt to make it look like or taste like a real salad). I wouldn't have gotten it, but they were out of EVERY other side (beer as well). Another person in our group ordered the ribs and said they were McRib quality. Oh and the bathroom was out of soap as well.

Food was absolutely AMAZING for the 15 minute wait! The burgers were cooked perfectly, and fries were crispy and evenly salted. Ribs had good meat, not overcooked or undercooked. Service was nice, and sorry for the long wait! There is barely any room to eat indoors, though. It is very windy outside!

Overall experience is that of a tourist burger joint. The burgers were bland. Paying $90 for what we got which was little is just not good. We could have gotten better burgers at In n Out for a fourth of the price. After getting our food we were surprised that they had a waiting line earlier in the day. We should have known better after seeing the prices. Sadly we were hungry and it was Father's day. The "half side of ribs" that daughter got were not ribs and just cut meat warmed up on the grill. Meat was dry and flavorless. It seemed everything was an added price. It goes without saying welcome to California. We gotcha. Suffice to say can't recommend it and won't return. The Mexican restaurant down the street would have been much better. Or simply pass the Char Pit and go further down the road for better more affordable food. Beware everything is tourist priced and flavored without a care. Cheers
