This is such a great gem in WAVL!! I wish I'd tried it sooner. Absolutely immaculate vibe. It's the perfect combination of a cozy library mixed with a historic speakeasy. Drink menu is awesome, with great wines, beers, and a wide cocktail selection! The staff are super friendly and chill also. New favorite place!!

Love the decor and the cocktails. It's cosy and fashionable at the same time. They have a really nicely put together cocktail list at very reasonable prices. You can settle in at the beautiful bar and chat with the friendly bartenders, grab a sofa and lounge with friends or cosy up with one of their books in an armchair or carrel (nostalgia for student days).

This has been on my “need to check” list for a year now! I don’t know why I waited so long. The staff is super friendly and masters of their craft! The vibe is chill, and the drinks are amazing. This will be our new go to place for amazing cocktails and top notch service. Who knows—an $8.00 book might strike your fancy, too.

This is an amazing place but not a 0lace to eat, That being said, this is one of the nicest bars in town with great options all around. It's beautiful, they sell cool books for 8$ and they have a great drink menu with a few bar snacks. I have lived in WAVL for a while and slept on thr place. Don't make my mistake!

We had an amazing experience at Character Study! Jackii made the best, perfectly balanced Manhattans—easily one of the best drinks we’ve had in Asheville. Jackii’s service was responsive, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. Michael was also fantastic to chat with—super knowledgeable and friendly, especially when it came to local distilleries. Great drinks, fabulous space, and a standout bar experience overall. We’ll definitely be back!

I love Character Study - the theme of cocktails with a character trait-twist and the decor is something worthy of visiting if you find yourself in West Asheville. I went before and after sunset, and something felt extra cozy about going there when the sun was down and the mood lighting was on. This is the perfect place to take a date, a friend, or a group! To order a drink, you have to order at the bar and then seat yourself. The bartenders work quickly, but I imagine there might be longer lines at certain hours. The drinks themselves were well-made and I also love that you can buy the books displayed there! Really fun concept, would recommend.

Our bartenders (Alex and Michael, I believe) were great. They chatted with us and gave us some food and bar recs. We didn't want to leave them but we had to get dinner. We wanted to go back later in the evening, but Asheville is such a packed place, it was hard to miss out on other places! The drinks were great, creative, and we even got to tesr an upcoming menu item (a strawberry daiquiri type). When we arrive, we were the only people there, but when we walked by later in the evening, the place was busy (not crowded) Def one of my top 5 bars on the area (and we went to over 10!)

Probably one of my favorite cocktail bars in Asheville! The space is gorgeous, huge and incredibly cozy. Cocktails are affordable and deliciously crafted by the dope bartenders (who are fun and informative). Really can't go wrong with their Le Guin and Tonic or their LoudSweater Martini. Obsessed with this place!
