Their food is seriously top quality. The sides were mostly well seasoned and very well balanced, super tasty. Normally salad bars are just a way to save money but not here, many of the items were high quality. Special shout-out to the mustard black fungus, the burdock root, and the pickled cabbage that's super refreshing, unlike most that's done this style which tends to be sharp Coffee jelly itself doesn't have any body though, that's not good, only the cream provides any flavour. It needs to be sweetened a tad more at least The grilled fish is superb, when they want it to be. The guy was lazy and gave me one piece which wasn't grilled well. I sent it back and it was perfect when it came back. One slight problem is the fish is under seasoned, in fact it is hardly seasoned, but that is ok because the yukari shiso salt is free flow Best rice I've had in my life, I'm so happy they're consistent on that front I hardly say this, because I love Japan, but this really, for a moment, made me feel like I was in Japan when I was stuffing grilled salmon and miso soup into my mouth I dare say, this beats many places in Japan. Prices are not ridiculous for the supreme quality you're getting Maybe slightly complaints would be that the place is a bit hard to find, and it might be a little wait to get seats sometimes. But nothing major, I'm back here over and over and that's very rare for me

Service wasn't the best. Man was a bit rigid in letting us go in and sit first. Atmosphere was squeezy. Food I had mixed opinions about. The salad bar was refillable but wasn't super good, the Romain lettuce was subpar. Seaweed was not too bad. The black cod set was really good, not outstanding but really good. Black cod was cooked well and all the way through, and the fish was fresh. Salmon belly on the other hand was kind of disappointing, and I felt it was a bit of a letdown. The sashimi belly through cooked properly, it was very salty so ended up tasted super average though quality was okay. Miso soup was nice. Rice was fine but a bit hard to eat. The onsen eggs were fresh and cooked to perfection, the light soy sauce compliments it. Also lack of variety on the menu I wish they would actually include more items in the menu as it's limited and there's not much to choose from.

My family and I had a very enjoyable meal here. The highlight for us was definitely the grilled fish – the salmon belly and grilled salmon were cooked to perfection, with a smoky char on the outside and tender, juicy flesh inside. Every bite was rich in flavour yet clean and not greasy, which made it easy to finish right down to the last piece. Another big plus is their free-flow salad and side bar. There’s a generous spread of fresh vegetables, cold sides, pasta, beans, Japanese pickles, even small bites like potato salad and jelly. It was fun to mix and match different toppings and dressings, and everyone at the table had their own unique colourful bowl. The meal set also came with rice served in a traditional wooden pot, soup, and even an onsen egg – small details that made the dining experience feel complete. The ambience is cozy, with the aroma of charcoal grilling filling the air. It does get crowded during peak hours, but the turnover is fast and the food is worth the wait. Overall, this is a place I’d happily return to with family. Between the quality of the fish, the variety at the salad bar, and the warm atmosphere, it’s a satisfying Japanese dining spot at PLQ.

The good thing about this resto is the buffet all u can for salad vegies, water melon/oranges, some pasta and the coffee jelly (i like it) and they have a good choices of salad dressings plus olive oil (love olive oil). The main course is good, i suggest pls add more main course (pork and beef). The rice is nice, i used to mix the half boiled egg with the rice. The place is too small and you need to wait also to have a sit, most of the time its always full.

Free flow salad bar for main course ordered. Not sure about enforcement as I noticed some table of 3-4 with only 2 main course ordered. Grilled Saba Fish | 8.0 out of 10.0 Good taste especially for fish lovers. Teriyaki Chicken | 7.5 out of 10.0 Good portion but need to cook longer (maybe) because the meat is thick. Miso Soup | 8.0 out of 10.0 Wee bit diluted but still fragrant and tasty. Salad Bar | 8.5 out of 10.0 Decent variety. Special call out to Coffee Jelly with Milk 9.0 out of 10.0 Unique and tasty. Not much service experience as it was online ordering and very minimal contact with service staff except when they were clearing the table or plates. Around S$100 for 4 main courses.

great value for money. The salad bar is not big but is complete with salads, sauces we love, pastas we like, water melons and dessert. The salmon I ordered is also thick and we'll grilled. The kids enjoyed it.

Had their Tori Teriyaki set meal came with miso soup and free flow of salad and fruits at their salad bar (around $24). Vege from the salad bar were fresh and nice. Rice was steamed on the spot so came a little wet so got to wait a while. The chicken was tender and juicy but the sauce was a little salty and had to chase it with the rice. Overall a very decent meal and highly recommend. Better to come early to avoid long queue. Food handlers wearing mask to upkeep hygiene.

My friend and I are repeat customers of Charcoal Grill & Salad Bar Keisuke at Paya Lebar Square, having frequented the establishment since its opening in 2019, pre-pandemic. Over the past six years, we have witnessed several changes, including price increases and staff reductions – understandable given rising rental and food costs. Compared to other grilled fish restaurants, such as Nakajima Suisan Grilled Fish at Takashimaya Food Hall, Keisuke offers remarkably reasonable pricing, particularly considering the included buffet salad. The food quality, however, has been inconsistent. On good days, the fish is succulent, tender, and full of flavour. On less fortunate occasions, it can be dry and overcooked. To their credit, the restaurant seems responsive to customer feedback and addresses issues promptly. The salad bar, conversely, maintains a consistently high standard. The ingredients are fresh and well-prepared, offering a wide and predictable selection across all their outlets. However, several issues warrant attention. Firstly, the practice of instructing customers waiting in the queue to ensure all members of their party are present before ordering is rather unfriendly, especially considering the restaurant's somewhat secluded location within basement of Paya Lebar Square. First-time visitors may find it difficult to locate. Secondly, charging 50 cents extra for a glass of iced water, in addition to a service charge, is a significant deterrent. Thirdly, we have experienced instances of rudeness from the waiting staff. On one occasion, when we politely requested the omission of miso from our grilled fish, the staff member simply shrugged and replied, "It is as it is." This was perplexing, as we assumed the miso is applied during the grilling process. We chose not to escalate the situation. Finally, the restaurant's habit of removing items from the menu is frustrating. My friend's usual order, the Grilled Snow Fish with Salt, was discontinued, leaving him disappointed and highlighting the unpredictability of the menu. As my friend put it "Not so shiok already..." The restaurant itself is small but comfortably appointed. Despite the grilling, there is a notable absence of smoke or unpleasant odours. However, navigating the limited space with food on both hands can be challenging. Will we return? Yes, but less frequently than before. Addressing the issues raised – improving customer service, reconsidering the charge for iced water, and maintaining menu consistency – would significantly enhance our experience and encourage more frequent patronage.

Yelp
Value for money set-menu sumiyaki (charcoal-grilled) fish dishes with all-you-can-eat salad bar. The menu is small and the place focuses on a few charcoal grilled fish dishes such as mackerel, cod, salmon and chicken (?!). The execution of the grilling is top notch and the price does not burn a hole in your pocket. Set menu prices range from S$16-29. The fish is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and the cod and the mackerel are recommended. Hot steamed rice is provided together with a raw egg that you stir into the rice. There's extensive variety offered at the salad bar, including fruit and some dessert items. When this place opened in April 2019, lines were pretty much out the door. No you are not seeing things; There are THREE Keisuke restaurants located in the same mall. I'm not sure why, but I'm not complaining. There's more food to choose from. :)
