9 Marvelous Museums in California for the Curious Kid

"For 50 years the antics of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, Lucy, and the rest of Charles M. Schulz’s iconic “Peanuts” gang delighted readers nationwide from their home in America’s funny pages. By the time the last strip was published on February 13, 2000 – a date that, incidentally, coincided with the artist’s death – Schulz and his creations had long since established themselves as a treasured piece of Americana. The idea to create a museum showcasing Schulz’s artwork was first proposed in the 1990s by Schulz’s wife, Jean, along with friends and admirers Mark Cohen and Edward Anderson. At the time Schulz was still illustrating daily “Peanuts” cartoons and showed little interest in the project, but his enthusiasm grew as plans for the museum began to take shape. The museum’s groundbreaking in June of 2000, not long after the Schulz’s passing, seemed a fitting tribute to the artist’s career and his lasting impact on multiple generations of fans. The museum, which opened in 2002, celebrates more than just the cast of “Peanuts”; it also explores the art of cartooning and the life and unique worldview of the creator himself. Though some exhibits include work by other artists – in 2011 the museum examined the influence of comic strips on the work of Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and 16 other noted artists – most focus on the strip, exploring objects, aesthetics, and themes in Schulz’s work. It’s an approach that allows fans to fully appreciate the evolution and scope of Schulz’s beloved cartoons, which tackled a wide array of social issues alongside its depiction of the day-to-day trials and tribulations of childhood. Permanent exhibitions include a recreation of Schulz’s studio, a tile mosaic composed of 3,588 “Peanuts” comic strips, a wall featuring some of Schulz’s early artwork, and a labyrinth in the shape of Snoopy’s head. In addition to its exhibits, the Charles M. Schulz Museum also offers a variety of classes and events to inspire and foster budding artists of all ages. The museum is located in California’s Sonoma County where Schulz lived and worked for nearly 40 years." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

It was so nostalgic being here. You get to learn a lot about Charles Schulz and his other interests besides comics. It was cool to see the books in other languages! I visited on a Monday when the museum opened at 11 AM and there were already a good amount of people there. It’s only $7 for ticket if you’re a student! So make sure to bring your student ID. The cafe and ice rink are right by the museum and are also a must-see.

Google
It's a nice little museum and I'd recommend it to any Peanuts lover! They have a small gift shop with unique gifts from the museum. FYI- you can get some of the stuff online but I believe you just pay shipping. The staff we interacted with was nice and helpful. The grounds are clean and well kept. On the second floor they have a room where you can trace peanuts and make comic strips or Snoopy's house. If you take your time you can spend 2-3 hours here. The price for admission is decent also at $12 for adults and $5 for youth. I do believe that I saw online that the prices are going up soon.

This was an unexpected highlight of our trip! I honestly didn’t know a ton about Peanuts and went because my college age daughter wanted to go. It is such a well put together and loving tribute to a man that Santa Rosa clearly loved. A big, modern building with bright, vibrant displays. Worth a visit on your way through, great way to spend a couple hours!

Google
This museum is so well curated!!! The fine details and overall account of Charles Schulz intertwined with Peanuts lore and humor is well done. BRAVO! This is a 1 hour walk-thru of happiness and laughter. There are fun small items for children to stay engaged with parents help. There is a DRAWING ROOM with inspirations and lots of little craft projects for the kiddo’s or adults. This is a fun place that can be a short or long stay for the afternoon. It hits at all levels. Parking is free. Entrance fee is small.

Google
This museum is amazing!!!!! So much to do, and see. Great in depth history of Charles m Schulz and peanuts. We spent 2 hours here and could've done another one but we were on a timeline. The food at the café is a great value and good tasting!! We had the hot dog, tacos, chicken pot pie, and pizza. Next time we come we will definitely do the ice skating. There's a small little gift shop when you enter the museum that has GREAT stuff, and a larger one next to the gift shop. Be advised they sell different items so if you see something you like, buy it because it probably won't be at the other one. Overall 10/10, wonderful museum.

Google
This is a must visit for Peanuts fans. The museum takes you through Charles Schulz's life and presents the history of his famous cartoon series. Plenty of parking. Tickets for adults are $12/each. You'll need about two hours to see everything.

Google
So glad I stopped. Loved the learning the history of the Peanuts characters and Charles Shultz himself. Just makes you smile. Made sure to pick up my smooshed penny souvenir by the door. There are 4 types. I of course wanted Snoopy. Just a great all around experience that continued across the way with the cafe and ice rink. All the characters placed about made great photo ops. Definitely worth a stop.

The Charles M. Schultz Museum is a must if you are a Peanuts, Charlie Brown or Snoopy Fan. This museum has is so well laid out with all the popular Peanuts characters and comic in addition to laying out the life of Charles M. Schultz. Entry is $12/adult (ages 19-61), $8/Senior (ages 62 and over), $5/Youth (ages 4-18 & college students) and Children under 3 is free. If you check your local library, they may partner with local museums for a $5 off deal for youths at this museum. They have everything from statues of the Peanuts characters throughout the outside and inside of the museum, theater where they play one of the popular Charlie Brown cartoons every 1/2 hour, to interactive spaces and an art room where kids can color and draw their favorite Peanuts characters. There is a small gift shop where you can purchase some souvenirs, but if you go across the road past the ice rink, you can go to Snoopy’s Gallery and Gift Shop (free entry) which is a 2 story building dedicated Snoopy and the Peanuts characters. Also check out the Snoopy Ice Rink across the way where there are more photo ops with character statues inside/outside and grab a bite to eat at The Warm Puppy Cafe. There a large parking lot, but can fill up fast on a busy holiday weekend. If the lot is full, park across the way at the ice rink parking lot and walk over.

Yelp
As a longtime fan of the Peanuts comics and nostalgic holiday specials, this museum visit was such a wholesome and heartwarming experience! Admission was very affordable. My group arrived around 10 AM with no issues finding parking in the private lot. One of my favorites was the tile mural of Charlie Brown and Lucy, composed of thousands of Peanuts comic strips. I also enjoyed learning more about Charles Schulz's life and his creative journey. We spent about two hours roaming the museum and taking photos. We spent time relaxing in the creative room with some coloring and crafts, and even caught a special screening of Snoopy's Reunion in the museum's theater. There's a small gift shop with cute museum merchandise. Just a short walk down the street is the Warm Puppy Cafe and Snoopy's Gallery & Gift Shop--perfect spots to wrap up your visit!

Yelp
This is definitely a place to visit when in the Sonoma Valley area... it's in the Santa Rosa community, not far from the STS airport. Admission is inexpensive at $15 per adult and the museum is actually pretty decent in size and has plenty volunteers there to help provide info and stories along the way. The exhibits are nice and the curation is very professional and perfectly set up. Everything will help tell a story about the life of Charles Schultz, as well the Peanuts characters. We enjoyed our visit!

Yelp
Fantastic place to visit! The museum is chock full of memorabilia and has a rotating schedule of exhibits. Entry fee is very reasonable and there are several guides around that are happy to share their knowledge with you. The gift shop is very small and somewhat overpriced, however that is not really the focus of the museum itself. When done, step across the street to the ice area and the fantastic Gallery gift shop to view more memorabilia and see many displays of Snoopy and the gang--including a fantastic huge circular stained glass window on the second floor that is mind blowing---its that beautiful.

Yelp
WHEN: Sat @10am Came here at opening time so we were able to snag a spot in their parking lot. There's free street parking too if it's filled. Figure since it's the weekend it will get pretty busy. ADMISSION: $12 Adult (Age 19-61) $8 Senior (Age 62+) $5 Youth (Age 4-18 and College Students) $2 EBT Cardholders FREE Children 3 and under This museum is so lovely with lots to see. There's also a theater to watch episodes, both and new. They post a viewing schedule just outside. I was surprised at how small the gift shop is then I realize they sell merchandise only exclusive to the museum. Lots of nice goods to buy! The exhibit itself is 2 floors covering a few different exhibits. They do rotate out different items every 6 months to keep it interesting. The museum docents are very friendly and knowledgeable so ask them anything! They are so nice! The outside area is nice too and you get a nice view of the place and its lovely architectural structure. If you look up at the tree, you'll find Charlie Brown's kite. Some of the large sculptures may be on tour so it would appear missing. Spend a good hour and a half. After that, cross over to the Ice skating rink! It's a short and easy walk.

Yelp
Cute piece of Americana history located in Santa Rosa. The Charles M Schulz museum is dedicated to preserving a lot of the Peanuts creator's original artwork, Charles M. Schulz. Museum goers can see where the artist's inspiration came from, the evolution of the popular comic characters, and a glimpse into the personal life of the famous creator. The museum opens at 11am and it was relatively easy to get through in an hour's time. There is a theater where short clips/videos are shown but if you would rather walk through and read books and original comic pieces, there is plenty to browse through. The grounds outside are well maintained. The small souvenir shop has quite a few cute items for sale. All proceeds from ticket and merch go back into the preserving the museum's history.

Yelp
Fun place to spend a few hours at. Kids loved the cartoon strips, video about the museum, Sparky's office, dr is in booth, and the cartoons at the museum's theater. Lots to explore.

Yelp
We arrived early right when they opened. On a Saturday..it was steady busy and some points very busy. But never felt over crowded or loud. It was our first time at the museum. Every staff member we talked with was very friendly and helpful. They know their stuff they tell you about different exhibits if you want. Or you can walk around every where just reading and looking at everything. Parking was right next to the museum. A few hours later we were hungry. We walked across the street to the Warm Puppy Cafe. It's in the same building as the ice ring. It's like a simple little restaurant with things on the menu like grilled cheese, hot dogs, garden burger, grilled chicken sandwich, tuna melt, pulled pork sandwich and clam chowder. Drinks; Hot chocolates and sodas. Pretty expensive for the offering. They have inside seating and out door seating. We noticed what time it was after we ate. We went back to the museum for the special event they had. Matthew Sandager was there. He was pretty Interesting. He did a meet and greet after. We looked around a little more. We realized we didn't go to the gift shop across the street. We did look through and bought a few things at the gift shop in side the museum. Maybe when we go back. We bought a membership for the year.

Yelp
If you are near Santa Rosa and grew up with Charlie Brown...this is a must visit! It's more for adults to indulge in...but learning more about how Charlie Brown evolved was pretty neat! Check out the ice rink, cafe and also the two gift shops. I hope the legacy of Charles Schulz continues forever. He was an awesome cartoonist.
google avatar

Amber R.

Yelp
This was an interesting museum about Charles M Schulz - Charlie Brown & Snoopy are very popular in my household so it was neat to see the beginnings of the original comic strip to now what it is today. There were two floors full of displays of magnified comic strips, an interactive photo op, history of Charles M Schultz's life, a room to color pictures of the characters or trace characters on paper to take home, & lastly an auditorium to watch Charlie Brown cartoons. Children under 5 may not have the patience for the museum part, but the coloring room would be exciting for them.
google avatar

Kimberley H.

Yelp
I love all things Snoopy and have since I was a kid. I won't like the museum was very underwhelming. It requires a ton of reading. Not very many interactive things to view or see. I also wish the gift shop had more options. I'm glad I went. But honestly wouldn't recommend.
google avatar

Sujin J.

Yelp
The most fun and educational visit we had checking out this museum! Everybody knows Snoopy and Charlie Brown all over the world! So have I, I thought! Meticulous historians preserved any valuable pieces including the the scrap paper that Charles's secretary saved out of the trash can when Charles Schultz was throwing out!!! A little bit out of the way and you need a car from SF but we strongly recommend to make this excursion to make your SF trip much more fun and memorable!!! And Bonus-- The Russian River Brewery is close by so you can hit that up on your way home!
google avatar

Nieke T.

Yelp
There's nothing in Santa Rosa, and this museum is the only reason we drove up here from Socal. If you are a huge fan of Charlie Brown and the gang then it is a must visit! I even considering to be a fan member for $50 (you'll get a pin for it) but then thought it won't be a good idea since I dont live close by. The entrance fee is $12. It is so worth it. I got a good amount of chuckles reading the comic strips. It has everything you want to know about Mr. Schulz. He is truly a talented man who was used by God When you're there, form forget to visit the bigger store across the street. Parking might be a bit hard. But keep on mind they also have parking at the back and at the gift store across the street.

Yelp
Visiting the Snoopy Museum was an absolute dream come true! It felt like stepping into a time machine and being transported back to my childhood. Every corner of the museum was filled with nostalgia, bringing to life some of my favorite childhood memories. The exhibits were wonderfully curated, showcasing everything from iconic comic strips to special behind-the-scenes artwork. It was more than just a museum visit; it was a heartwarming experience that made me feel like a kid again, full of wonder and happiness. Do not forget to catch the short films at the auditorium. You are able to leave the museum, to catch a Film and then return back to the museum. If you love Snoopy as much as I do, this place is an absolute must-visit. It perfectly captures the essence of childhood magic, and I left with a heart full of warmth and gratitude for the timeless charm of Charles Schulz's creations.

Yelp
As a Snoopy lover, this place is a must visit. I loved seeing people of all ages enjoying the exhibit and I'm sure they felt like a kid again. There's free parking right in front of the museum and it's also within walkable distance to the skating rink and gift shop. There's also a gift shop inside the museum too and I recommend checking it out since they have exclusive products that aren't available in the other store. Discounts for seniors, students, military, young audiences and Museums for All beneficiaries are available. The exhibits are perfectly curated and not overwhelming at all. One of my favorite spots was the comic-style photo area (which by the way, you can customize with pre-written phrases, how cool is that?) Upstairs the recreation of Charles M. Schulz office feels warm and nostalgic, (also this lady who worked there was dancing and helping all visitors, she was lovely!) I enjoyed the activity area so much, which provides seating, materials and activities such as color Peanuts-themed art, try origami or even create simple animations. The staff is welcoming and this was such a wholesome experience. Definitely planning my next visit.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday around 4pm. It was quite the drive from South Bay Area, but definitely so worth it! There's a large parking lot -- I'd recommend parking at the museum side first. The museum is two floors, as well as an outdoor exhibit area. Since we came relatively close to closing, there weren't too many people inside. The exhibits showed so many old Charlie Brown cartoons, as well as some history behind Charles Schulz and his creation of Snoopy. There were many interactive exhibits, like ones where you can put headphones on and watch Snoopy, photo booths with interchangeable floating cartoon texts, and arts and crafts with different Snoopy poses. The museum itself isn't huge, but the cuteness of the exhibits allowed us to stay in there a long time. There's a gift shop inside the museum, but also a larger one on the other side of the street, next to the ice rink. The ice rink has public skating (on certain days and times) and a cafe inside. Next to it was the larger gift shop, with more Snoopy merchandise. Definitely a must-try experience if you're a Snoopy fan! The experience was worth the far drive, and I will definitely take more friends when they visit.

Yelp
Our first time here, we celebrated the NYE Noon Balloon drop! Such a cute museum, with two stories of things and exhibits to explore! So many photo opportunities, lots of kid friendly crafts, and it has a cute little shop in the lobby! Plenty of space, even an outdoor space that lead to other rooms! Bathrooms are clean, and the ice skating rink and cafe next door is even cuter! Can't wait to bring my daughter back here this year during another family friendly event!

Yelp
We try to come twice a year to see the new exhibits. I wish we lived closer as there are so many good exhibits. This month's exhibit was The Beagle Scouts. I had no idea that the scouts had names. It was a very eye opening exhibit. I don't recall most of the comic strips with the Beagle Scouts. I was very glad we went to see the exhibit. They also had an adorable photo opportunity in the back of the exhibit. It's a campfire with everyone sleeping on top of their tents. The fire comes apart so kids can play with it. Being October they showed The Great Pumpkin in the theater. They also showed a Beagle Scout film that was cute. People were laughing out loud during both movies. If as an adult you pay attending there are clips of adult humor in the movies that you won't grasp as a kid. In the back patio they had an exhibit of Linus sitting in a pumpkin patch with the 2nd largest pumpkin in the giant pumpkin contest. It was a great photo opportunity. If you love the peanuts you need to come to this museum. It's heaven. We're members and keep coming back. Most of the exhibits rotate. They also have a mini gift shop. They have more items for sale then they have on their online store. I was able to pick up a polo shirt for my dad. It ran me about $35. You get a 10% discount if you are members. They have lots of great gift items. Plushies, books, mugs, food containers, art supplies, post cards, bags, alarm clock, vase, mints, ect.

Yelp
I did not know about this place. I was staying in Ukiah, Santa Rosa is only an hour away, so I decided to drive down and see the ice rink. What a pleasant surprise to find this museum as well. The price was only 12 bucks to get in, and they also offer a military/veterans/senior discount. The senior discount brought it down to only eight bucks. Extremely reasonable. Everybody was so friendly and knowledgeable.. There were lots of exhibits and comic strips that covered peanuts over the years. It covered peanuts, Mr. Schulz himself, and where he got some of his inspirations, the different characters, including minor characters, and characters that were only part of one storyline, merchandising, the peanuts comic strip compilation books, (I had several ...) and international peanuts. A funny story, a newspaper in Russia was running peanuts without permission. Mr. Schulz's take on it was basically, if being stolen is the only way I can get into Russia, so be it. Yes, he finally did get into Russia with permission. From everything I saw, the man was extremely down to earth. I liked the video, there were interactive exhibits for both the adults, and the kids, and there was also a very nice recreation of his studio. I learned a lot while I was there. I want to come back, because I'm sure that the exhibits rotate. Thank you for a wonderful time that I didn't expect to have.

Yelp
Cute local museum with many snoopy photo ops. It was to nice to learn about the history of snoopy, where Charles Schulz drew his comics and how he became famous. On the second floor you can make a zoetrope or follow along a sketching session. It is $12 per person, you have to get tickets in person. There is an ice rink and gift shop across the street, both snoopy themed as well!
google avatar

Jana P.

Yelp
I won't share more photos to keep the element of surprise. But I absolutely loved this museum. As a crazy Snoopy fan, I was so excited we are staying close by and able to make the trip to it. It's a great layout, has a few fun activities for both kids and adults. The videos, descriptions, and items were are all so great. Staff is absolutely so friendly! This was so great to see, I was in pure joy. Pricing is fair, I didn't think twice as I bought our tickets. It's overall a smaller museum but we spent about an hour and a half in there! I highly recommend!
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
A friend of mine recommended this place, and we didn't have high expectations since we thought it was a small museum. However, I decided to visit for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised. We arrived at 11 AM on a Friday, just as they opened, and ended up staying until around 3 PM. We spent a good portion of our time in the drawing/education hub, which was incredibly engaging and interactive. There were plenty of worksheets to take home as well. I also picked up some cool merchandise from the museum store. If you're planning to buy something, I'd recommend purchasing from the museum store rather than the regular Snoopy store.
google avatar

A M.

Yelp
This is a great spot for young and old! Fun and inspirational images from Schulz and put you in instant happy mood when you encounter life sized CB at the entrance! Nothing short of a memory lane back to your happy childhood in the 70's... These were the reasons why you need to stop in!
google avatar

Abi B.

Yelp
This is a fun little excursion. My mom is a crazy Snoopy fanatic so our friend drove us here for half the day. There's a small cinema room that shows an interview of Charles M. Schulz. There's lots of art and different cool things to learn about. It's all fun and enjoyable. There's a little cafe and ice rink nearby. There's also a bigger gift shop in another building. Definitely a must visit.
google avatar

Sally Y.

Yelp
If you love Peanuts, come visit this museum to learn more about Charles M. Schulz and his famous cartoon characters. Santa Rosa's proud legendary cartoonist admits Charlie Brown's somewhat his alter ego. There's a photo op at Lucy's psychiatrist table and many cartoon strips on display to read and browse. Nostalgic!
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
Me and the hubby live in Southern Cali and don't get to come up north too often but this place has been on my bucklist and I was so happy we finally were able to go! We came on a Sunday morning before our flight back home that evening. Parking was easy and it cost around $12 a person to enter the museum. We didn't know what to expect going in and were honestly surprised how much we enjoyed ourselves. We explored the museum, read the comics, took so many pictures, watched a movie in the theater and drew and colored to our hearts delight. We loved learning about how Charlie Brown and his friends were created and we loved how Charles' memory and work have been preserved.
google avatar

Randy C.

Yelp
The museum is so thoughtfully put together. An amazing collection of memorabilia and history of Sparky's work. The staff were very friendly. The gift shop is very small, but there is a large gift shop next to the ice rink across from the museum.
google avatar

Yelp
We really enjoyed our experience here on a weekday afternoon. It's a charming stop for anyone who knows the beloved Peanuts characters. It's not too large, so it's easy to go through in a leisurely way in a relatively short amount of time. We were met with friendly front desk staff, as well as enthusiastic & knowledgeable docents along the way. We saw June 2024 exhibits of Peanuts Evolution: The 1960s, Cowabunga, Peanuts! (highlighting the link to skateboarding/surfing), & Snoopy in Orbit (Snoopy's connection to NASA)--all were cute. The art pieces by other inspired artists were impressive. You can watch lots of videos. You can see Schultz's belongings & accolades. There is a small outdoor area. The photo opps are all over. We spent time in the art room on the second floor where you can color, trace, draw, & make origami with all the materials & books you need at hand. You can leave artwork behind on a big bulletin wall. A cartoon was also playing on a tv. It was a very comfortable, relaxing space. There is a small gift shop & penny souvenir machine located there as well. The restrooms we used were well-maintained. Just show your receipt for in & out privileges.

Yelp
A wonder little museum detailing the life and creation of the Peanuts gang and their creator Charles M. Schulz. After roadtripping to SF, I convinced my family to drive a little further just for this museum. I am glad we did! It was so fun and had so much to see and learn about. Cute photo ops and a room where you can do crafts. Their restrooms are very clean. Small gift shop when you enter/exit, everything was nicely priced (both the tickets and the merchandise). I would definitely recommend coming here!
google avatar

Mary L.

Yelp
My daughter loves Snoopy so what better way to take her to the Charles Schulz Museum! It was better than I would have expected. There was a lot of history to the making of Charlie Brown and the gang which was very fascinating to me. They had a wall that was outlined as Charlie and Lucy (I think) but when you got closer to the wall it was comic strips in black and white, which was really cool! There was a cafe there for breakfast and lunch items that looks into the ice rink. The ice rink had a senior game going on which was nice to watch. Then beyond that building was a larger gift shop. It was a really good day trip and great to see the evolution of the cartoon.
google avatar

Kenji Y.

Yelp
Cute little stop with friendly staff. Entrance for adults is only $12. Plenty of parking. Even EV charging available. You can probably run through this in 30 mins or spend 2 hours here reading everything you can. There is a "store/art gallery" across the street which is free to visit.
google avatar

Erly M.

Yelp
I loved it!There was a little bit of everything. There were statues to take pictures with and appreciate and a lot of the history behind Peanuts. There is even food accross the street. Also an ice ring, I did not try it but I saw many try it. I only tried the hot cocoa outside of the food place and it was not good, I even think it went bad so I did not finish it but there was too many people so I did ask them anything. I would give it a try ordering it inside instead of outside of the warm puppy cafe. The gift shop was ok, I was hoping to find more goodies but that is fine. I did not find things that I wouldn't otherwise at tj max/homegoods or other stores. I loved the museum portion tho!
google avatar

Lisa K.

Yelp
Such a lovely visit one Sunday afternoon. The museum is a loving tribute to Mr. Schulz and the whole cast of Peanuts. I especially liked the sample comics featuring the entire Peanuts ensemble and the seasonal exhibit: Here Come the Beagle Scouts. We took a walk to the skating rink right cross the street. Though the Warm Puppy Cafe was closed, we enjoyed walking through the skating rink observation area filled with kids and families still. Nostalgia and deep community roots abounds.

Yelp
Charlie Brown Museum known as the Charles Schultz Museum is fun and interactive. Lots of pictures of the cartoons, a theater showing a documentary about Charles Schultz, a theater with Peanuts cartoon movies, and an art room where you can trace Snoopy cartoon characters, different sculptures, Charles Schultz office furniture set up the way it was in his original office, a wall panel from his daughter's bedroom that Charles Schultz drew for her and much more! In the art room, you can make your own still movies and your own origami Snoopy house. There are pictures of different characters you can trace . They provide you with different size tracing paper so you can use the paneled paper and trace one character in each panel or one large piece of paper and trace the characters in whatever way you want. There is a gift store and upstairs is a display of dressed up Snoopy stuffed animals. You can take lots of pictures with different sculptures! Going to this museum was so much fun! Even our 7 year loved it and she is the type that easily gets bored! The art room was her favorite place!!

Yelp
There is a small gift shop where you can purchase some souvenirs, but if you go across the road past the ice rink, you can go to Snoopy's Gallery and Gift Shop (free entry) which is a 2 story building dedicated Snoopy and the Peanuts characters. Also check out the Snoopy Ice Rink across the way where there are more photo ops with character statues inside/outside and grab a bite to eat at The Warm Puppy Cafe. Plan on spending about 1/2 day here for the full experience. There a large parking lot, but can fill up fast on a busy holiday weekend. If the lot is full, park across the way at the ice rink parking lot and walk over.

Yelp
A very sweet and darling museum with regular rotations about the work and life of Charles Schulz.... spacious, well cared for, and they even have the great pumpkin in their courtyard!! across the street is a larger gift shop with an ice rink! there's a small cafe too but the quality of the food isn't that great. if you have kids it's probably a whole day affair, but without kids, easily a half day and then you can take a drive out to visit roadside bakeries or wineries i'm really glad we went, very pleasant and wholesome time

Yelp
Official Snoopy Museum Member, 2024. If you grew up with the Peanuts crew, be sure to take a detour to the museum where you will find historic beginnings, memorabilia by creator, Charles Schultz. Within proximity, campus, there is a Snoopy Cafe, Ice Skating Rink and Gift Shop (one can find one of a kind gifts, collaborations). I loved the story of character, Franklin, first African American Peanuts character introduced in 1968 after the death Martin Luther King. Many exhibits, nostalgia and fun for the family.

Yelp
This was so much more than we expected! Bigger than we thought, so much detail about Schulz life. Allow 90 minutes and don't skip the back patio area. Really very thorough and suitable for all ages, including an art room for kids.

Yelp
Awesome place for the whole family. Very fun and informative. They even have an ice skating rink that we will need to come back to try.

Yelp
This is a must do for any Peanuts fan. Or anyone interested in cartooning or animation. This spacious, well laid out, two story museum has so much information you could easily spend 2 hours on all the exhibits. There is also a room dedicated to unleashing your own cartoon talent. Charles Schulz was more than a cartoonist. He was a sports enthusiast, a family man and a traveler for example. The exhibits range from wall murals, drawers of personal effects, cartoon evolution, to office recreation with original furniture. Charles Schulz was alive when the museum opened. Some of the items donated were from people who touched his life in various degrees. Even people who owned homes that were once a Schulz home. It seems Mr. Schulz liked to paint pictures on walls. A wall was donated! This place is pretty amazing. But don't stop here. There's still the Warm Puppy Cafe' with an ice rink and also another gift shop besides the one in the museum. There is free parking. We arrived at opening and had our choice of spaces. When we left the lot was packed!

Yelp
How did I not know that the Peanuts Museum was right here in Santa Rosa?! A must-do if you're in the area! What a wonderful museum. So well-crafted, with team members that are clearly so passionate about Peanuts. An incredible tribute to Charles M Schulz' work, mostly focusing on Peanuts but also highlighting his life from childhood (in St. Paul, MN!!) and earlier comics, to his later years that centered around his nearby studio, ice rink, and passions. Leave yourself ~2 hours to visit - we took an hour and a half to walk through the museum and exhibits, and half an hour in the gift store. But if you wanted to read each sign/comic, you'd need more! Admission is $12 for adults, with discounts for seniors, students and children. The first floor has an introductory video about Charles' life, and a room devoted to Peanuts and the cast "at school" with tidbits about Charles' school experience. So many fun comics to read, helpful plaques that brought themes and topics to life, and a true walk down memory lane for any Snoopy and Peanuts fan! The amount of thoughtful pieces of art and photo ops throughout the museum was truly impressive. By far the best I've ever seen in a museum! We had so much fun with the "psychiatric help" photo op and the "Peanuts yearbook" photo op. On the second floor, you'll find exhibits like Schulz' studio, Snoopy in Orbit, Charles' life and work, and more. But one of the best spaces is the art room! Here you can color in Peanuts coloring book pages, trace favorite Peanuts moments onto comic strips, and do other crafts that seem to be rotating - when we were there, it was an origami Snoopy dog house! Adults and kids alike all creating and crafting in this room was a sight to behold. They have a nice little space outside with a few fun art installations (like the kite in the tree!). Be sure to cross over to see the ice rink where Charles spent a lot of his time and the gift shop.

Yelp
We visited Santa Rosa for a show and were looking for something fun to do in the area. My husband and I both grew up with the Peanuts cartoons and comic strips and thought it would be fun to check out the museum. The parking was free and covered and there were plenty of spots available. We went right in and tickets were $12/adult. We weren't really sure what to expect, but we walked in and took in the artwork before continuing to the intro video room. They could use a bigger TV, but it was really cool to see. We walked around and looked at the different comic strips and information on display. It was really fun remembering some of the fun moments and seeing how some of the content was created from personal experiences or the events and pop culture of the time. The upstairs area was very cool and went a lot deeper into the history. There is also a fun room where kids (of all ages) could do some cartooning and take home some of their own art. I could see kids and adults loving this museum and being able to spend hours here during a visit.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday. They have parking on the side. The cost to get in was $29 for two adults and a child. The place is two stories they have bathrooms downstairs and upstairs. They have a short movie downstairs. They have a lot to look at I under estimated it. They also have downstairs where you can sit. The upstairs has a room that's very interactive for all ages. You can sketch, color, make a comic, even origami. This was a hit for kids my son was even crying because he did not want to leave. This is such a unique experience . You walk across there's a huge gift shop and another building is a cafe. Then there's huge windows where you can see the skating rink. It's definitely a great price . Definitely worth checking out highly recommend.

Yelp
Truely a hidden NorCal gem, I only heard about this from TT and it was worth the day trip from SJ. The Charles M Schulz museum is a small and well curated collection of everything snoopy. It consists of 2 floors, a movie room, ice skating, and even a gift shop.

Yelp
Loved every minute of it! The exhibits, cartoons and theater made it an educational experience. Loved the warm puppy cafe next door attached to the ice skating rink. As a lifelong Snoopy fan, it was a dream come true.

Yelp
Great museum for all ages if you love snoopy and the peanut gang. Plenty of things to look at and you should check out the ice rink and gift shop.

Yelp
An incredibly cute and nostalgic museum worth the visit! Plan for 1-1.5 hours here. I came on a weekend right before noon and didn't find it too crowded. It seems that the main exhibit changes with the seasons, which is nice. The current display is Back to School themed. While there's plenty of cute Peanuts imagery to see and photo ops, it is mainly comic strips, so prepare for a lot of reading. It's probably more interesting to adults than the little kids. If you come at the right time, you can also catch full length Peanuts movies showing in the video room. There's a very small gift shop in the Museum itself, but the larger one is across the street next to the ice rink, so don't miss out on that! Another great thing is that the souvenir penny machine takes card or cash, so you don't have to worry if you forget to bring coins. If you're coming a long way like I did, there's also plenty to explore in Santa Rosa and the nearby cities/towns.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! I'm in love with this place! Being a huge fan of Peanuts, I had a dream to visit this place. Everything including a replica of Sparky's studio on the second floor was so amazing! I especially loved the mural of Charlie Brown and Lucy that was made up of comic strips. I strongly suggest visiting this place to anyone who likes Peanuts or just reading the comics, for that matter.

Yelp
highly recommend checking it out. I was influenced to go because of tik tok. It was super cool to walk around and see the history, everything inside was super well thought out.

Yelp
I enjoyed a lot! But it was smaller than I expected, so probably 90 min should be enough. And if you're thinking to take your toddlers, wait for another 5 years. We saw many kids who was not happy because it's a museum, not a theme park.
