Typical sports bar atmosphere with many pours on tap and a patio out back. Bartender was nice and efficient. Wings were pretty good, very crispy and not abnormally sized ha. Teriyaki flavor was sweet and lemon pepper was salty. "Tacos Mexcellente" were two tacos - shaved ribeye, seared tuna, or chicken) with mango habanero, citrus cream, peach pico, & sesame seeds. I ordered shaved ribeye, but the texture was more like tender ground beef and pretty greasy. There was grease/liquid dripping with each bite. The tortilla was good, appeared to be a little toasted. In my opinion, the taco just has too much going on. It was hard to focus on one flavor (if that makes sense lol). The bartender recommended this year or two an hour or chicken so maybe I'll actually listen and try that next time.

We were visiting from Savannah, The food and drinks were delicious. Service was fabulous, especially from Alexis. Our bartender though we didn't have alcohol. Very kind but professional people. Five stars easily. Will recommend to others and definitely go again when we are in Charleston. I'm a retired mystery shopper. Y'all did great!

Google
Hands down one of the best bars on Upper King. Maury and Stephanie are a phenomenal team no matter how busy, you aren’t lacking in any way. Waters filled, beers replaced, and they are constantly checking on you. I absolutely love coming here on Saturday’s after working in a hospital all week. The care and effort put into making sure my needs are met are impeccable. Thank y’all for everything, y’all are amazing!

Google
Not expecting much Thursday a day after New Years. Got help selecting beers and tasting a ton before I made my decisions. Made for a great experience…and then the pretzel came out. HOLY. SMOKES. The pretzel is from Saffron bakery and almost croissant-like. Slight crisp on the outside and airy middle. Nice salt. The mustard is the perfect tart. Cheese was great as well but I’m more of a mustard guy. Wife even found a beer she loved as well with staff help. Thank you CBWs!

Google
Great little sports bar serving huge juicy burgers and tater tots that melt in your mouth. Great spot to grab a local IPA and burger while watching a game on the big screen over the bar. Only slight negative was service wait time due to being busy. The burgers are well worth the wait.

Google
Very nice bar and restaurant, incredible food (I had the tuna burger) and very friendly service

Google
The beer list was ok. Had only one Hazy IPA on draft and it had kicked after or when we ordered it. The waitress tried to sub a West Coast IPA instead. Had a Watermelon Sour Ale that was good. I wish there was a better selection. Did not want a 10% stout on a day in the high 80s. Not much snack foods available. We didn't want anything large and also wanted something we could share with the kids.

Monica Foley

Google
Great place for good beer. So many good beer choices. The bartender was a little preoccupied and never asked if we wanted food. It all looked good so gave 5 stars. Great vibe. Inattentive service.

Yelp
Great wings, cold beer, big selection. Maury provided fantastic service. For a buddy's golf trip to Kiawah, was a fantastic start to our evening in Charleston. Maury may not be the father, but you can refer to him as Wing Daddy when you visit.

Yelp
Food and beer are good. I had the chicken Caesar salad and it was made as a huge portion with fresh ingredients. BEWARE when they have live music, it is SO LOUD you can't even order! Waitress is unable to hear you when only inches away! When Beer Works has live music, stay away!!

Yelp
Killer Wings, Great selection of beer, fantastic service. Been going here since moving here and it's a great place to watch a game or grab a drink with friends.

Yelp
I went here for a first date and we had a wonderful experience! Nice selection of beer on tap. I got the chicken finger basket with fries and they were excellent. They had some special seasoning on them. My date got an assortment of beers on tap. Our server was attentive and friendly. Great service!

Yelp
We stopped by here to grab a beer and a bite before a concert, and even with as busy as it was, the service was still fairly quick. The beers were good, as was the food. If you stop by before a concert, you might have to wait for a seat, but overall it was a good experience.

Yelp
We were in town and wanted a drink or two after dinner. We came in and happily joined their bingo night. It was a lot of fun! Good beers of course.
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
The wings were good. Had the prestige world dry rub. Amazing service and they had a great Thursday night bingo. It was a brewery type ambiance. Beer was great. I had the coastal longer.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I each did a beer flight. Staff was attentive but not super friendly I thought. The bartender who gave me my check didn't give an itemized version of it which was odd. Also - Some of my beers tasted a bit on the flat side. Fun to sit at the bar. They also have happy hour deals. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our time here overall!
google avatar

Yelp
Bartenders are rude and lifeless seems like they hate being here food ok nice selection of beer just the customer service is ass

Yelp
We ventured over here on a Second Sunday for a late lunch. We expected it to be busy with the foot traffic and football games going on, and it was. We did find the outdoor bar was pretty open, so we snagged a couple of seats there. We opted out of drinks because we needed our second wind and didn't want to get weighted down. However, we did order lunch - my friend got a spinach salad with double chicken protein. I ordered the Palmetto Burger. There was football on, and the bartender happily obliged to change one of the games to our preferred one. There was also a football raffle happening combined with a liquor promo. It took nearly an hour to get our food which was a bit disappointing. While they were busy, this was way too long, especially when the bartender didn't acknowledge the wait time or reassure us the food was coming. when it finally arrived, it was pretty good. The burger was super messy and I needed to grab more napkins and a knife but other than that, we had what we needed. it could have used more pimento cheese because the flavor was a little lost. The value of the meal made the experience better in the end. I would certainly say it's a great place to meet up with friends or catch a game.

Yelp
Went to CBW this afternoon for some light apps. We ordered the Mac and cheese bites, nachos and chicken tenders. The service was great but the food was absolutely horrible. The chicken was pretty much raw, and everything else tasted like it's been out for days. It was a clean restaurant and a good vibe but the food turned me off from wanting to stay or even go back.

Yelp
Came in on Friday to watch the Clemson game, you need to get here early if you want a spot to sit at. There is outdoor seating but we wanted to order food but we weren't able to , looks like they were really busy that evening. We got a mule with the blood orange , it was good too. Bar is small , we heard they have great food. Maybe next time we will be able to try.

Yelp
Charleston Beer Works was our first stop on a quick bar hop before a show at the Music Hall, just a couple of blocks away. We were served promptly by a friendly and beer-savvy bartender. Great selection of drafts including some locals that I was not familiar with. After beer #1 we left to check out the downtown scene but ended up coming back for dinner. Next trip to Charleston we will definitely stop by again!

Janet M.

Yelp
The staff was awesome, super sweet! We sat outside the first day and got drinks and wings. THE BEST WINGS!! So crispy and the sauce was awesome. We did a beer flight for $16 and it was a great way to taste some of the 43ish beers they have on draft. They had a great band play for a fun Sunday Funday!

Yelp
Decided to try out Charleston Beer Works on a weekday, to escape the heat of King Street. This is located on the upper side of King Street, but is still near many of the well known shops and other restaurants down that way. We were lucky to arrive during their happy hour which offered various things for $4. They also have a very large draft section that was a selling point. Once we arrived, we sat at the bar, and even though the bar only had about 5 other people inside, it took awhile for us to be served. We each got a draft and sat back and watched some sports on the ole tvs, but when the time came for our check, it took awhile to not only get the bartender to bring it our way, but then to pick it back up and finalize our transaction. Overall, the beer selection is good but the serves was just okay.

Yelp
A few people in our group went here first and then we met up with them here for beers. One of the better sports bars I've been too with TVs showing whatever you could think of. Fortunately the NBA playoffs were on and there was a good amount of NBA fans present which was a pleasant surprise. Some people in our party ordered wings which were amaze; good size, flavor, and right amount of sauce. The four of us also did shots where bartender let us do via the shot stick (hockey stick with shot slots). A fun experience and allowed us to get even more sloshed. Some of the others in our group missed out by not rolling here so sucks to be them.

Yelp
We came in to escape the downpour that was taking over the day. It was mid week and were able to get to a table right away. The bartenders were really chill and friendly, you could over hear them giving recommendations of not only beer but other great places to go in the city. They have a great beer selection as well as yummy bar bites. It was a quick stop, but enjoyed every bit of it!

Virginia M.

Yelp
Huge shoutout to CBW for the hospitality in a crazy storm yesterday. Due to a weird series of events I ended up there not once but twice so got to sample both the wings & the tot-Cho's plus get turned onto a new N/A beer I hadn't yet tried. Most of all their kindness and playlist made it feel like home. Highly recommend for a chill place to escape the heat or the rain on King.

Yelp
Bartender was good, huge selection of beers. Had 2 appys and one entree. Average at best...

Yelp
My girlfriend and I each enjoyed a beer flight at Charleston Beer Works and had a good time. We enjoyed the large selection of draft beers including a lot of local brews. Service was attentive and moderately friendly. I'd recommend if you're in the area and looking for a chill spot to grab a drink or two.

Cole B.

Yelp
Decent beer selection. Kinda smells in there. The service was pretty good though. They were out of Trop Hop.
google avatar

Steven K.

Yelp
Stopped by here for some chicken wings and couple of trop hops. Wanted to see if the guy from southern charm actually had a good beer and we were very impressed with the trop hop. The chicken wings were pretty dang good too. I wanted them to be a little spicier but other then that very good. Salad was a nice portion as well. Only downfall was the service. Our server seemed pretty pissed the entire time and was kinda awkward. Great place from some wings and local brews.
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
Wife and I went for happy hour. Would highly recommend coming during the happy hour period if you're wanting to try a variety of the local brews. Ordered wings (honey sriracha) and the southern fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. Wings weren't too hot but had a little spice and the sandwich was quite juicy. Overall, a pleasant experience for a quick bite to eat. Staff was great. Very on top of their service and friendly.

Yelp
We love this place and make it one of our go to stops when we are in town. Excellent beer and cider selection. It's always busy but we have never had a refill not be at the perfect timing. We have not tried the food due to a gluten allergy but it always looks amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to watch the NFC Championship game. Great spot to watch any sporting event. Good Burgers and Wings and great service.

Ashley H.

Yelp
Plenty of seats, and a nice atmosphere. They do not have booster seats or high chairs. Every table is a high top except for one booth with no cushions. So my son had to sit on our lap to eat, less than ideal. Our first server didn't say more than she needed, and barely waited for us to finish our order before walking away. I can empathize with having a rough shift but can still say hello. Our second server that seemed to take over was friendlier. But we still had to ask for plates, napkins, and cutlery (twice) once we received our food. Food was bar food. The pretzels tasted more like a brioche bread than a pretzel, so not what we were expecting. The wings were pretty good and so were the tenders. Not the worst place but not the best.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
This is a great downtown pub. The staff is great and the vibe is lively. If you're looking for a great selection of beer this is your place. No matter your flavor profile or style, they have something you'll truly enjoy. The food is great as well! I highly recommend the Palmetto Burger. The addition of pimento cheese is AWESOME! The wings are great too. Swing by and sit inside or on the well-shaded back patio. You'll have a great time.
google avatar

Noel R.

Yelp
Wings are nice and crispy. Sauces are good! Got the Munkle Belgium brown ale, local and great! Nice ambiance :)

Caleb H.

Yelp
I am family of the band that is performing tonight. The establishment was called way ahead of time to ask and make sure that we would all be able to get in to watch the band and have a table. We arrived, and the restaurant was not even prepared for the band to show up on time. Quite unprofessional in my opinion. I understand that tables were full, but when a table opened up, we were told that they just "didnt want to sit us there" and we were not allowed to even go inside. We were waiting outside for over an hour in the cold. I asked a group of four to switch to another open table with four chairs. Shocker... they said they'd move, and sat there for 45 minutes. Even the other customers were not nice. Definitely not a place you want to go if you expect any common decency.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutley the best boiled peanuts in the state! The rest of the menu is crazy good....and the staff...is the Bomb!!

Bill K.

Yelp
The burger and service are topnotch, which is why they get three instead of two stars. The beer, while there is a nice selection, suffers from dirty draught lines. I tried several and they all had that buttery, sour milk tinge. At $8 a pint I expect better. Too bad.
google avatar

Madalyn J.

Yelp
Came here to grab a few drinks before dinner reservations. The bartenders were nice and also fast! They have a great beer selection of local brews as well as other craft beers. Would def go back!
google avatar

Jordan P.

Yelp
We visited on a busy Friday night but did not have to wait long for a table. It is first-come-first-serve so no reservations. This place has an intimate setting and a beautiful back area that is outdoor and has its own outdoor bar with picnic tables. However, we sat inside because there was rain that evening. Plenty to watch on TV- had any ball game you would've liked to see which is always a plus for me! We ordered the tatchos (something like that) where it was basically a tater tot version of nachos with cheese, jalapeños and other goodies. This appetizer was very good I highly recommend it. I went with a favorite of mine and ordered the house-hot buffalo wings. I'd give the wings a 6.5/10. Good but nothing to brag about but I don't know if this is the place that specializes in that dish. But not to take away from them- they were good. Definitely a place to check out different kinds of brews!
google avatar

Yelp
We've been going to BW since before they moved. The new space is nice, but needs to be broken in a bit. You'll still see the same great/friendly bartenders and staff. And hey, they actually recognize locals! With all the service industry turnover downtown, it's nice to see bartenders you've known for YEARS! As for the food, it's fast, hot, and well presented. Wings are always my go to. They're a classic buffalo style, crispy and perfect every time. Ask for their signature WET hot sauce. Thursday (1/2 price burger night) is always nice for a drop in and some trivia upstairs. Follow BW on Facebook to keep track of their WEEKLY burger and wing specials.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating. Big selection of draft beers plus a few ciders. Down to earth bar scene
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
CBW is a great place that has a lot going for it. First of all, it's in a wonderful location on King Street. Two floors of seating and an outdoor area. I didn't get a chance to check out the outdoor area, unfortunately. The seating areas are spacious and there are bars on both levels which is very nice. The place is clean and comfortable. Service was great also! The menu is mostly sandwiches, so not 5 star dining, but delicious food at good prices. I had the yardbird sandwich which was fried chicken with French fries, and all were delicious. Oh, and, a bunch of great beers on tap!

Carly G.

Yelp
110% do no recommend. the bartender was horrible, bad attitude.. I hate this type of service, like I should be lucky someone takes my order. Never ever go here. fire your bartender that worked downstairs on 10/19.
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
Great bar in Charleston! Not a lot of sports centered bars and this was perfect for me to watch the Colts lose while in town We went 2 times during our trip because their chicken tenders were the best we ever had. Beer was cold, staff was extremely receptive and kind with a since of humor...and again, get the tenders!
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
This place has always been a staple of mine to come and watch any game. Bartenders, servers and food are above average. It's the perfect spot to watch any game and you will never go thirsty or hungry!
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
The wrap was great. Never had a buffalo wrap with honey, but that was a really good edition. Good fries as well, A+

Megan R.

Yelp
Great spot in downtown Charleston! Service was quick and friendly and the wings were awesome! We went on Bingo night and had a great time playing bingo - the whole bar was into it. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Evan T.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for a quick early evening cocktail. We decided on the Sweet Heat Paloma. Damn these were so tasty! This is like a grapefruit margarita that has jalapeños suspended in it and it was so well balanced. Generally when you walk into a beer bar you expect to have sub par cocktails, but this is not the case at this place. The do it right and this is worth a trip. The burgers also look good, but we did not get one. Happy Yelping!
google avatar

Peyton M.

Yelp
Great place to pop in and grab a drink! Best place to watch a Tennessee football game, we found several other fans there. Food was good and servers are friendly! Great atmosphere to watch sports.
google avatar

David Q.

Yelp
5 star place - great service, great beers and the best burger I've had - in any bar / place / restaurant - this place would take Keens on 36th in Manhattan on and win IMHO. Very chill friendly home pub vibe.
google avatar

Erika W.

Yelp
Meg T., her husband, my husband and I stopped in here a couple of weekends ago when we were on the hunt for some food. We sat at the large booth facing the bar and doorway, which ended up being perfect for people watching. I ordered a classic burger with fries. I thought both were really good. They had several tvs around the bar area with sports on so that kept us all busy when we weren't chatting away. They have lots of different beers available (obviously) though we didn't try any (although Meg and her husband did so look out for her review). Apparently as we were leaving, they were charging a cover fee to get in. I'm not sure what was up with that - if it was just for people going upstairs or if it was for the entire bar/restaurant. Is that normal for Saturday nights? Might want to inquire about that, if you're heading in around 10 pm or later!
google avatar

Yelp
Popped in late afternoon for a snack and to do a little work and had the best experience. I'm a self admitted beer novice. The bartender suggested their flight of four and took time explaining the various types, tastes, etc. That 1:1 experience will keep me coming back here. Side note - their hand battered chicken tenders were delicious. Served with tater tots and a healthy portion. A different bartender helped me with my second flight - equally patient, informing and talented with the beer picks. My fave of my flights - Charleston local LoFi Lager. This spot is a gem on King street. Just don't put sharpie on my hand late night and I'll frequent more often.
google avatar

Rosie G.

Yelp
We ordered the dumpwings and pretzel, and both were not great--tasted as if they were frozen meals. Lots of flies inside. :(
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Wings were great. Atmosphere on a football Sunday was busy, it was almost impossible to get the attention of a staff member to get an order placed but food came out fairly quickly once we did.
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We were STARVING when we landed and stumbled across this place while we were searching for food. Very clean restaurant and great ambiance. Their food is great, their beer is cheap, and theres always a game on here. We got the blue burger and it was so juicy and delicious.. I'd assume all the other burgers would be just as good as this. We also got the cheese curds which.. oh my.. so great. We also got their nachos plate. Was not disappointed at all. I'd love to come back here and try some of their other foods. Emily was our waitress and she was great! Very attentive and quick to come over whenever we needed her.
