Atlanta Restaurant Field Day Is Closing on Highland Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward | Eater Atlanta
"Owned by Rob Bouton of Charleston’s Queen Street Grocery, Field Day was a neighborhood bar and restaurant on Highland in the Old Fourth Ward that took over the former Across the Street Mexican space next to Bouton’s market, Everyday. Bouton announced on Instagram Friday morning that Field Day will close after service on Sunday, January 23, saying, “Opening just a month before Covid started, we had extremely high hopes, but it just didn’t work out,” and expressing pride in the staff, the quality of the menus, and the friends and fans who supported them despite a bleak outlook. Chef Mike Pitts (BeetleCat, Nobu, Momofuku) delivered an eclectic menu — kimchi grilled cheese, bone-in monkfish, classic cheeseburgers, and French fries topped with creme fraiche and trout roe — while cocktails ranged from funky takes on the 50/50 martini and Old Fashioned to dive-bar classics, frozen cocktails, and summer patio drinks; Pitts wanted a classic, everyday neighborhood spot where neighbors could afford to eat more than once a month. It is unclear whether the adjacent Everyday market will also close." - Beth McKibben
