South Carolina’s First ‘Cannabis Dry Bar’ Opens on James Island | Eater Carolinas
"Inside the James Island Charleston Hemp Collective at 1989 Maybank Highway, I'll find South Carolina’s first bar devoted to hemp-derived, THC-infused, spirits-free drinks, operated by High Rise Beverage Company. Opening on Friday, August 11, the wellness-focused, cannabis-themed bar serves cannabis-infused nonalcoholic cocktails like the Invigorate (turmeric, carrot, mango, and coconut shrub topped with the drinker’s choice of High Rise CBD or delta-9 seltzers) and the Zen (made with spirit-free bourbon and hemp honey), and customers can add a THC gummy to their orders. Founder Matt Skinner positions the space as educational—letting people sample CBD, delta-8, and delta-9 beverages without buying a four-pack—and says it appeals both to recreational seekers and to those wanting an alcohol alternative amid a growing nonalcoholic movement. The interior, designed by Karen Long, is midcentury modern beachy with a pop of neon and plenty of greenery, and the bar will be open Sunday–Wednesday 10 a.m.–10 p.m. and Thursday–Saturday 10 a.m.–11 p.m." - Erin Perkins
