OMG!!!! This place is a gem. Best Philly Cheesesteak I ever had and South Jersey and Philadelphia PA is well known for Philly Cheesesteaks. Also very good Yuengling on tap. I also had their wings. I am from upstate NY, they were just ok to me but their Buffalo sauce was delicious!!!! I am definitely coming back to this place. Very friendly staff.

Best wings in NJ, went for lunch and came back to get more wings for dinner. Now we can’t wait to return!! Service was incredible and everything was a great price.

During our brief visit to the area my fiance' & I went twice. The seasonal special app - crab stuffed Jersey tomato was delicious! Great combo! As was the tuna with blue cheese & crab atop tuna, and the scallops. Service was friendly & attentive, great cheerful "locals" or regulars atmosphere. Will be back next time we are in the area!

The chill atmosphere at Charlie’s is THE BEST! I love a good dive bar, but this place is a cut above your typical dive bar. The service is friendly and fast - and the food is always fresh and delicious! You can tell it’s a cool place by the history on the TouchTunes juke box. We come here often! The blackened chicken Caesar wrap (or salad) is AMAZING! Try the creamy she-crab soup!!! French onion soup - also amazing! The tuna is awesome too whether you try the black and blue or add it to any of the salads. The peanut butter cream pie for dessert is the perfect ending! Whether you sit at the bar or grab a table - you will LOVE this place!

Our food was delicious, BBTs, crab mac and cheese and the scallops, all a hit. The service was nice but slow because they were packed. The atmosphere is okay for a bar restaurant but way too loud.

This is a great “old school” spot. Experience - the atmosphere is classic, with a great bar. Service - the service is always very good. Food - The food is excellent. Fantastic wings. Overall, the value is very good. Feedback The service at the bar is good, but could sometimes be friendlier.

This place never fails me! Not from the area and came back for a 4th time. Service was phenomenal. Food was amazing. Got mild wings and Mexican cheese fries. Prices are fair and worth the trip! Highly recommended.

Wings are great. There meals are a little expensive, since there nothing serve with them. No bread, no salad or soup offer with the meal. Pay extra for refills. Every place I go to serve bread with pasta.

Charlie's bar never disappoints. Came here for a quick snack with friends and we got their wings. Service was great and the food was even better. If you ever want wings come here it's worth it. Better than chain places and you get quality wings. The vibe of the restaurant is more sports bar and can be a little noisy so if that's not your thing just do pick up quality remains great. I'd just recommend you get your sauces on the side.

Great spot to grab some food and drinks! We were visiting family who live in the area and we stopped in for dinner and drinks. We got lucky and were seated right away near the second bar in the back. Our server was very friendly and attentive. They had a good selection of beers, I had a Mango Cart. They also had some fun mixed drinks on the menu that I hope to try next time. My Buffalo chicken wrap was yummy! It came with a bag of chips but you can upgrade to fries. They had a kids menu, which was appreciated since my son was with us. I know it says it everywhere but just another reminder, it's CASH ONLY. They do have an ATM machine inside.

I've been eating at Charlie's for 20 years. Since that time, they have been known to have the best wings in the nation. Unfortunately, in the past six months, my last two experiences with Charlie's have resulted in subpar wings. The sauce is still the best, but the quality of the chicken wings is not good. I am requesting Mr. Charlie to go back to the old wings.

The place was happening! It was packed by 4:00! Luckily, the joint lived up to the hype too. Even though the place was crowded, we were seated and got orders in very quickly. They have quite a few TVs around so it's a great place to hang out and watch a sports game. Charlie's is supposedly known for their wings, so that's what we ordered. I was debating whether to get fries, but I was assured by my friends it wouldn't be necessary. They were right. The wings and tenders I got were so thick and meaty. They were cooked perfectly and I loved the spicy top gun sauce. By the way, that sauce is very spicy for many people. The wings/tenders alone were more than enough to fill me. I was pretty satisfied with the meal and service here. The only downside is that they are cash only. Not a big deal but something to know beforehand. Would definitely recommend stopping by here for their wings!

The wings are the best I had in the area. We drive from Sea Isle just for the wings. A bit old school as the server takes your order for food even sitting at bar not the bartender.

Charlie's is the kinda bar/restaurant I wish I had down the street from where I live. Great atmosphere and the food and beer hit the spot. Check it out.

The first time we ate here everything was almost perfect, today not so much. In the age of great craft beers the beer selection is awful. We were served a barely warm cheeseburger and tepid fries. We actually went back this time because the fries were so good last time. I ordered the house salad with chicken. Barely any romaine most iceberg lettuce and the salad was warm, kind of off putting. I asked for blue cheese on the side twice, it never appeared. Attention to detail is lacking and the kitchen can't accommodate the demand. Cash only, not again for us.

Great place for the family or just the adults. You will love the food. Best part is the smiling faces that work there that never fail to go above and beyond.

The food was very good and our server was great. The hostess left a little to be desired. She would clear the tables and spray this very smelly cleaner, and it would hit your table, possibly your food. This needs to change. Other wise, very good.

A reliable and delicious spot with fair prices and great food. We come here often year round and it's always a good call.

First time visiting, but have partaken in buckets of BBT's previously. Classic sports bar with a good vibe and friendly/quick service. Plenty of televisions to watch a game and all the bar food staples, just done a little better. The BBT's are a staple and delicious. Our table also had the roast beef cheddar melt, chicken sandwich and a short rib sandwich special. All were good to very good. Space is tight and you do feel like you are sitting with the table next to you, but it's all part of the vibe.

South Jersey classic. Good dive bar with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend the BBT's. Top gun are insanely hot but still taste good. Their tail gun is also very good. Would recommend to anyone looking for good bar food around OC.

It's loud so not for everyone but it's a fun sports bar with really solid food. I've had some good times in there.

Visited this classic spot Somers point NJ. I decided to try the wings, everyone raved about them. We ordered several flavors, but the mild wings to me were perfect. Mild goes with their homemade blue cheese sauce! Folks also raved about their mac & cheese with crab. All in all I didn't really see any unique dishes on their menu. However, it is typically packed because folks come over from Ocean City. We also noticed they have an outdoor area for eating, next time we will check that out. It was raining when we arrived this time.

Back bar is so much better with Matt on Thursdays than with the old grumpy bartender at front bar.

The best chicken wings at the Jersey Shore! Great dive bar vibes, cheap beers, plenty of TVs and fantastic service. We ordered Tailgun (Mild) which is a little spicier then mild, Southwest (BBQ) which is a BBQ sauced wild but a good BBQ sauce, and Stinger (Sweet & Spicy) my personal favorite, a great wing sauce with a lot of great flavor without being too much heat or sweet! Charlie's is a hidden Jersey Shore gem and should be treated a such.

We stopped in to eat after a day in Cape May (this was about a 25min drive). Great atmosphere, friendly ppl and good food. We ordered the wings and tenders combo as an app and they were so tasty. I could not stop eating them; the mild Buffalo sauce was perfect. As my entree I ordered a burger and fries; this was delicious. I am not a huge bread eater so I felt the bun was huge but overall a great taste. The fries were so crispy and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely return due to the food and awesome waitress. FYI: they only accept cash but they do have an ATM on premises.

Iconic Somers Point restaurant run by the Thomas family. Consistently excellent menu in a comfortable legendary establishment.

Great restaurant, Very nice staff and management. Great food! Love the boneless tails, crab cakes platter and shrimp dish cooked. Better to go early afternoons for more privacy. Wished the bathroom was bigger, someday.

When we stay at the South Jersey Shore for only 2 days, Charlies always gets left out. :-( WELL, THIS TIME we stayed 3 days to attend the Corvette show on the OCNJ boardwalk on Sunday 9/10/23. The Eagles were playing that Sunday night as well. HOT DOG! I took the girls to Charlies so they could experience those FABULOUS Chicken tenders for themselves. Of course we ate there to enjoy the crazy South Jersey Phila vibe offered by the crowded bar! It had been years since I had been to Charlies (after being a frequent flyer when we owned a home in OCNJ). They did not disappoint! Same fabulous chicken tenders...... Delicious Blue Cheese dressing, all was right in my world again. I took a bucket home. Thank you Jack Thomas for keeping this great South Jersey tradition going. Oh, and I forgot the resturaunt is cash only as well........ You know what they say ....... " it's because they can." hahaha sorry gripers..... they have an ATM right by the front door and the fees aren't bad!

Stopped in here yesterday with my husband on our way home from the cape may zoo. It's been years since we came here and I wish we would make the trip more often. We shared wings which were cooked to perfection and a great size. And the burger was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive as well. I'm definitely coming back soon!

Boyfriend and I got sat and not one single person came up to us. Keep in mind there was a group next to us that their waitress kept coming over to them several times. So it's not like we weren't seen. We waited 25 minutes (not exaggerating the 25 minutes) still no one coming over to give us drinks or take our order. So we left.

What a lovely little place! Went around 8pm on a Tuesday and there was a wait. Place was packed and everyone seemed to have a good time. We waited about 20 minutes. Got seated and order taken right away. Drinks were good. The iced tea beverage on tap was to die for. My partner had the seafood app and I had the patty melt. Both were delicious. Next time we come in the area we will be back!

Charlie's offers fresh and tasty bar food. We ordered meatloaf panini, wings, salad, and soup - everyone loved there food. Server was fast and friendly. If you come on a Friday, weekend, or in the summer - you are going to wait and deal with a packed house - but it is worth it.

We went last night, 8/30, for dinner (party of 4). They sat us in a section that we called the seniors seating area. Our table was next to a servers station so that made it very distracting. It was also very close to the kitchen where the servers were constantly going in and out. Again, very distracting. And, we had a birds eye view of the rest rooms that were directly across from where we were sitting. People going in and out the whole time we were there. Not very appealing. The food was good but that's all that was good. We won't go back.

I came during late September and business was booming at Charlie's. They had outdoor and indoor dining. Due to Covid, my group decided it was best to eat outside since it was nice outside. We ordered 2 pitchers of stella without realizing they are $22 a pitcher (our mistake), but I would love for them to have a menu for their drinks. A lot of their drinks are just on a piece of paper with no prices. Outside was really nice and they had projectors in a tent that presented the different sports games. This place is the go to place for wings, beer, and sports watching. I recently went indoors this December and I was quite disappointed that their tables were not social distanced. They were packed with people and it seemed like the pandemic never happened. Very disappointed in that fact. Food: Always bomb! Wings are definitely the go to, they are crispy and delicious. I could keep eating those wings. They are highly addicting. Definitely get a bunch and share it with a group. Onion rings: this was definitely bigger than I was expecting and it was hot and crispy once I got them. Had a great crunch. Overall, food was amazing. Management could do better at reinforcing dining regulations and having a menu with the prices for drinks.

Out and about with coworkers on a Wednesday night, we wound up at the local hang. Charlie's Bar is a lively tavern offering up huge portions of bar favorites, with an emphasis on some seriously tasty (and seriously big) wings. Those meaty suckers are fried just crispy enough and soak up the sauce perfectly. The Tail Gun sauce (mild, with just a hint of cayenne spice) is a crowd pleaser while the Top Gun (their hottest: a thick blend of cayenne and chopped chilis) packs the heat without overkill. I can see myself back here time and time again when I'm in the area. The only downer? It's cash only!

Let me get the tough stuff out of the way first. This place is cash only. It's the year 2023. All establishments should accept credit cards, full stop. Sorry, Charlie. And it doesn't have free refills for soft drinks. That's also a major violation. Now that I've gotten the tough stuff out of the way, on to the good stuff. This place has, and always has had, some of the best buffalo wings ever. They generally have a good beer selection. I like the old school neighborhood feel of the place. The workers work hard. And they have plenty of seating and TVs to watch sports. I would definitely recommend this place, and I have been here many times before. I just want them to clean up those other issues and they would be perfect.

Despair, despair weary traveller of the material plain. Ceaselessly the waves of horror cascade upon the shore of our souls. In my most recent visit to the holy cathedral of buffalo sauce that is Charlie's, I was nearly severed from my mortal coil upon the horrific realization that their signature wings - those which have saved me from damnation upon multiple occasions - have been rendered minuscule and impotent, no doubt by some malicious act of the demiurge. Woe! Woe upon mankind! Is nothing sacred in this cosmic age of destruction? For shame!

Great wings. Kitchen staff used restroom without washing their hands. Otherwise it was fantastic Just wash your freakin' hands.

Whenever I am in the area, I always make a point to come here. They have one of the best wings I've tried thus far, and they are always consistent. I typically get a larger order of buffalo wings since I am always with a decent size crew. This time I tried their cheese fries with old bay and parsley and thought it was delicious! Love their fries. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. My group was extremely lucky to not have to wait too long for a table since usually the waiting time can be long if they're busy. This place is cash only and they do offer an ATM inside to grab cash. I can't wait to come back again soon! Thanks for keeping up great memories Charlie's!

What can I say except I always find myself coming back to Charlie's when I'm staying at the shore. We ordered the wings, cheesesteak egg rolls and stromboli and all were delicious! The staff was really kind and it was full of patrons enjoying football and basketball. Definitely a sports bar. Recommend to anyone wanting to watch the game at a great little local joint, and make sure to try the wings!

There's a handful of good spots in Somers Point, but when it comes to food & service this place is the best. Highly recommend. Best bartenders in town!

This place was great for 40+ years and now it's absolute shit. The wings were great for decades and now the quality is down 35-40%. They're cheaping out big time. I ordered a crab cake sandwich for $17 and it was slightly bigger than a slider. Goodbye forever, Charlie's.

Do NOT go!!! I have been going for 20 years but they no longer care about their customers. After waiting 40 minutes for a seat, was seated next to shuffleboard table. Asked to squeeze into an open 4 seater (we had five) and was told no. We would have to wait again for another table. Wings are okay, but beer selection is uninspired and drinks are watered down. Go if you like tourist traps.

Went for the first time today with my wife for lunch. Food was great and was the service and atmosphere. Definitely adding Charlies to our regular rotation.

Very good bar food and drinks. The famous wings are definitely worth trying. Lots of different sauces and food to try. Alcohol is priced pretty standard and might even be cheaper than most of the other options at the beach. Hours are good too. Service always consistent and good.

Great food great service all the time, can get crowded just be patient it's worth the wait. Bring cash they don't accept credit/ debit cards, just in case there is a ATM Machine there . Also if you need to have a gathering you can rent a room from them

From atmosphere to the food, Charlie's is just plain great. If you like an energetic sports bar scene this place is for you. The wings and tail tenders are the items that most order but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Try the she crab soup or clam chowder too.

Solid bar with great food! Charlie's a gem- all the servers and bartenders are really nice. The food is deff top notch bar food. The crab soup is awesome- love the wings- great salads. Tip- get there early if there is a big game because this place fills up!

Saturday night in September waited an hour to get seated. Service was so-so felt the fact the table didn't order drinks the table wasn't as important. Bang bang shrimp had a seasoning that didn't make sense to my tasty I'm not a mussel (in white) person but the sauce was flavorful but could have used a bit of lemon per my table mates. The wings were crispy yet moist inside done just right. They were the saving grace if the evening I would return for them

Great food. Big portions. Nice vibe. Had chicken fingers, fries, filet mignon burger & pork sandwich. Fast service at lunch time.

Disappointed this time around. Hubby and I have frequently visited Charlie's and never had an issue. Until last night. We got there at 7:40 and we're told a little over an hour wait. Knowing the food was good we decided to wait. One of the hostess's however, on three different occasion (that I personally witnessed) sat her friends or family before folks that had been waiting. As we were approaching 2 hours that we were still waiting to sit I decided to say something. Not only did the curly haired hostess get annoyed that she was called out, but then decided to actually talk about me to the other hostess within ear shot of me. She is a rude, unprofessional individual who will make Charlie's lose business with this attitude and behavior. By the time we sat and got our food the food was sub par. Unfortunately a place we used to frequent will be no more.

Charlie's Bar is a great place to work and hang out. Mind you, I have not worked there since 2005, but I can still to this day say that they have a great staff, it's like a little family. The food has gotten better and better over the years. One of our family favorites are the Charlie's chicken wings, we pay extra for all flats, request them "well done" with the sauces on the side (so if you take them home, they will still be good reheated in the air fryer, thank me later for this little tip). We also love the Wes' favorite filet mignon sandwich (we miss you Wesley!) the horseradish on the sandwich really makes it quite a flavorful delicacy for a very reasonable price. The she crab soup and the chili are amazing. And if you get the BBT's, try it with their Southwest sauce! And don't forget the homemade ranch and blue cheese, you will never have a dressing anywhere that tastes as good as their dressings! Meet your friends at Charlie's, it's a great fun filled sports bar with a dining room in the back for a more restaurant dining feel. I also wanted to add that during Covid, when the indoor restaurants had to shut down, Charlie's kept the takeout option open and did curbside pick up, which the customers were so appreciative for, and they allowed all the staff to continue working in different areas to help keep money in their employees pockets. Really great place all around. Great owners, great staff, great food and drink.

Heard about the infamous wings here so we were willing to put in the wait during a busy weekend night. It's a typical dive bar: huge TV screens playing sports, really loud music, elbow to elbow crowd with many people picking up buckets of wings to go. If this is your scene, go for it. Customers seemed to be a mix of families, rich older folks, shore bros, and girlfriend groups. We picked mussels in the white wine and garlic sauce. Portion was piled high but were bland and small. The bread served with it was dry. So meh. But dem wings. Crisp, meaty and moist. Good flavor profiles on the mild and honey garlic bbq sauces. My one complaint on the wings are the flats are still attached to the joint which makes them awkward to eat. It was pretty busy but we got our food quickly. Service was spotty; we had to flag our server for refills. I think I would return for the wings on a less busy time or do the take out orders.

Service was the least of the evils upon entering this disaster... The food and ambiance is an unmitigated disaster. Clam shells were all over the parking lot next to piles of old grease and food by dumpsters. Inside, there were chicken bones on the floor in various places under the bar where no one was sitting. The "famous" wings had more hair on them than Jon Bon Jovi and are marginal at best. They pair very well with the dry clams and the frozen mozzarella sticks. My wife ordered the chilled shrimp appetizer and spent the majority of her time picking the veins and sand out of the back of her shrimp... needless to say we won't be back and I hope the Board of Health shuts this dump down. A real sin and a fall from grace.
