It’s a beautiful art gallery, they also have art booths for $200 a month and they are very spacious. They also offer very affordable events like figure drawing every two weeks and they keep you updated through their instagram account qnd website.

Had an amazing evening on Friday, Feb 10th... In my opinion every piece of paintings were masterpieces! Looking forward to purchasing a few pieces soon.

Wow, blown away by the talent here! The space is great and the vibe is very welcoming and inclusive. Honestly, the staff here is so friendly. I recommend anyone (artists, non-artists, art appreciaters, families, singles, kids, etc.) to come visit the Charlotte Art League. The events are especially fun with snacks, a bar, live music, raffles, and art for sale (reasonably priced too). Not much in the way of food or restaurants in the immediate vicinity/walking distance, however the heart of NoDa, with a slew of bars and restaurants, is just one lightrail stop prior. It looks like warehouse will eventually have other tenants including a restaurant.

Small beautiful space featuring local artists. All work is for sale. They have a few booths that artists can rent as work spaces, and you can see what they're working on. Had to go around back to get in. They changed the entrance, but it still shows the old one in the Google street view.

Had the opportunity to visit and volunteer at CAL on a beautiful Sunday and I was pleasant surprised by my visit! The current exhibition, additional artists on the wall studio art are so amazing! So many beautiful pieces on display and for sale! The new space is great! It was easy do get to with great parking. Looking forward to the next artist crawl to meet more is the artist! I will able to meet Wil Bosbyshell which was a nice treat!

This place is a scam. They basically white washed graffiti, anything IS possible. They are nothing but curators without careers or decorum for human decency. They do not know how to raise funds for an agenda. I am embarrassed for this company, and I hope to find Jim Dukes and Chandler Snipes in court for selling what is not to take.

Yelp
This community oriented art space deserves a fresh review ~ especially to note its cool and big new space!! Now next to the Independent Picture House at 4100 Raleigh, CAL has more room to provide studio space for artists and wall space to showcase amazing local art. Stop in to browse ~ and be in the room where art is created ~ or sign up for classes, workshops, events, and experiences. If you're interested in buying art, you'll find a range of affordable prices. It's a perfect venue to get in out of the summer heat ~ or while away a rainy day. Plenty of free parking. Note, CAL is open Friday through Sunday. Check website for times.

Yelp
Cool space, seen some great art here. The staff are rude and disrespectful. This is Charlotte, not NYC. Not sure why they have such an attitude.

Yelp
Super cool spot where you can peruse and purchase art from Local Charlotte Artists, both newbies and well known alike. The artists are set up mostly in stalls that they rent from the Art League. The pieces range from all sorts of different mediums: Resin, canvas, sculptures, photographs, etc. I've walked through several stalls and while most of the artists set up and go about their day-jobs, you'll occasionally find an artist using their stall as a studio and working on whatever project they're focused on at the time. Everyone I've talked to here has been friendly and inviting. This isn't your stereotypical "snobby" art place. These people are down to earth and eager to see you. Prices range from the super affordable to the super expensive, with a happy medium in every price range in between. One stall I saw had 24x36" resin piece on canvas that was going for $700!! Way out of my price range but I'm sure someone will see it and decide that they aren't leaving without it. If you find something you like, you can take it up front where the cashier will run your purchase on behalf of the artist. Keep in mind that mostly everything is for sale, but some pieces are works in progress or display only. Everything I've seen in here is labeled properly to avoid any confusion. It's a community cornerstone that hosts events, supports charities, and spotlights some of the most prominent artists in the QC. What's not to like?

Yelp
I love to go here for the monthly Improv Charlotte shows. However, with the new construction across the street parking is a pain, especially if you are handicapped. Last month, we ended up parking all the way by Central Coffee and I almost got hit by oncoming traffic when I tried to cross the street. It's also painful, when you have a handicapped sticker, to walk that far. Somehow, I doubt it will be better when they give us the sidewalks back. Some people parked in the parking lot of the closed Phat Burrito, but I was afraid to be towed. Otherwise, it's a great space with tons of art that hosts great events! It's a huge asset to Charlotte and South End.

Yelp
I always enjoy the exhibits at the Charlotte Art League's Caleidoscope Gallery. I checked out a graffiti art exhibit there a while ago and was very impressed. They made a whole experience out of it - with a DJ spinning and graffiti-splashed walls. During exhibits, you can also view the work and studio space of artists who work from the Art League's space in South End. The Art League also offers art classes for adults and teens.

Yelp
Great place to wonder around and get lost! Other galleries and restaurants all around, so if your looking for an fun day of scenic views and local flavor Southend is the place. But what really sets the Charlotte Art League apart from other galleries is they have working studios so you will see an occasional artist painting or sculpting away in their own studio space. When you first walk in the front is all gallery walls and a new show goes up every month! And they have classes, all kinds of different classes held by different artists. Definitely should Check it out P.S. DOGS ARE WELCOME!!

Yelp
I've been in here a few times. Most of the stuff is pretty much the same all the time. The way this place works is artists have booths where they display their stuff for show and to sell it. The walls and displays up front seem to change up more regularly and there are some comfy old seats to sit and chill. The variety throughout is great and there's always something to catch my eye in here. I like looking at art and deco and when it comes to art, it's just what each of us makes of it. That said, my 3 stars is in no way a judgment of the art. I honestly don't get that feeling of awe in this place. I noticed other reviewers mentioned events on exhibit days and all. I've been in here only on the weekends and kinda expected something to be going on but every time it's just been me in the gallery. I would definitely throw up 4 stars or more to this place if I was there for a DJ spinning the tracks to an awesome experience. I've honestly mostly felt awkward walking around in here. But it does have a great chillaxed atmosphere and I would suggest augmenting that with some regular music throughout the day.

Yelp
I've attended a few classes here which have been great but I love walking around and seeing what local artist are creating. If you appreciate art, then you'd appreciate this place.

Yelp
This place is so cool! I wasn't expecting there to be much of any art scene in Charlotte and then I come across the Charlotte Art League on a gallery tour and am newly inspired! It's such a great concept where local artists can come and rent out space to display their work or practice their craft. Each of the booths have their own little spin and it was really cool to even see some of the artists on site while they were painting, drawing, sculpting or whatever it is that they love. It's a great place to go to just stroll around and get lost for a bit. We came on a Friday night where they were celebrating Mardi Gras with free appetizers and the employees giving out Mardi Gras beads for fun. I definitely enjoyed going there and would love to come back when we have guests from out of town to show them around.

Yelp
Great place to see art and buy some local pieces. Easy one minute walk from the light rail line at Sugar Creek Station! Great afternoon place to see or come by on gallery crawl night!

Yelp
I was blown away by the variety of art work available there. From paintings, sculpture, photography and jewelry, there was something for every art lover. There was a gallery in the front and walls and studios filled with art as you walk through the entire building. It was not a stuffy gallery so there is definitely a chance you'll find something unique worth buying that's affordable.
