You want services and amenities without a dog and pony show. For times like these, stay at the Marriott City Center. It’s a classic Marriott in every way. Dark wood floors, clean lines, and a soothing color palette lend a contemporary, Asian-inflected design to the rooms and suites. The outlets here are highly stylized (think a chef’s table at Stoke and a cool coffee bar, plus a lounge that doubles as a working space) so if you’re feeling like staying right here, there are options. The hotel was good but for the price 300+ it should have been excellent! The hotel was close to the Skyla amphitheater which was perfect for what we needed. We did take an uber which wasn’t a hassle & very convenient with the traffic. There are a lot of panhandlers but that seems to be the normal in the area. There was also some people preaching the gospel on the sidewalk with a speaker & mic & across the street people smoking weed. We self parked but it wasn’t much cheaper than the valet running close to 60. Check in was fairly quick & we checked in early without hassle. Our room on the 11th floor was decent/clean & our king bed was comfortable. The only things I didn’t like was there wasn’t a microwave, the shower water was extremely hot so be careful, & my biggest complaint the noise!!! We were forced to listen to club music until after 2am as well as someone revving their car engine or racing until 5am. I’m not exactly sure what they were doing but I had ear plugs in & could still hear it. So if you are a light sleeper that might be a challenge. The breakfast was edible but not fantastic. The potatoes had too much salt couldn’t eat them, the omelet was bland, & the toast/biscuit would break your teeth off definitely inedible. I will find a different hotel next time for the cost doesn’t reflect what you receive.

Hotel is in great location downtown, close to walking to many restaurants, the arena and the CAT transportation system. Gym is nice and big. Rooms are clean and you won’t be disappointed. Only thing that kept them from 5 star is for those with executive lounge access, other than breakfast, the lounge has much to be desired. Breakfast is great though and staff was nice in there.||Also one elevator was broken so if not fixed by time you read this, that isn’t ideal

Nice experience. One night for the Club World Cup. Location was great right by all the restaurants and Starbucks was right around the corner. A couple of blocks from NASCAR hall of fame and both stadiums. Rooms were clean and cool. Parking was easy just self park and it’s right under the hotel. No issues. Would stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for business for 2 nights.||Good things:|- centrally located - walking distance to many bars, restaurants, businesses|- nice coffee shop in lobby and Starbucks down the street|- had dinner at the bar - food was very good|- love the aromatherapy spray for your pillows||Could do better:|- my room needed updates (I’ll post pics)|- as a female traveler the quality of the hair dryer says a lot - this one was cheap for sure|- towels were thin |- my bed sheets were completely winkled |- peeling paint and a weird connecting door to the next room which I am not even sure fully closed - I could their conversations like they were in my room |- my tv wiring was all unplugged from the tv and required “engineering” to come fix ||The location was the best part. Has a nice lobby. My room quality would make me try somewhere else next time around

Google
I love the aesthetics of the lobby. My only issue is the beds are full so they are kind of small. What I love must about this room is the couch along the window. It was long and brought so much character to this room. What I hated must about this hotel, parking is $60/nightly and it’s a third company so Marriott has nothing to do with how parking works. I would definitely return to this hotel as the location was AMAZING on Trade St.

Check in was fast, easy and the front desk staff was happy, professional and a pleasure to interact with. The hotel is clean with comfortable rooms and thoughtful layout for rest or work. Room service was fast and food was excellent. The location is an added bonus, easily walkable to many places.

Google
The lobby is beautiful, but that's pretty much all I have nice to say about this hotel. I booked a room with lounge privileges, only to find the M Lounge to be quite disappointing. When we went to the lounge (around 6pm), we found the hot foods (bite-sized pizzas and some kind of cheese rice balls) to be tepid and paltry. The hot foods were presented in large Le Creuset pans with lids that made it awkward to serve yourself. The next morning, two of my sons (10 and 12) went to the lounge to get breakfast and were quickly and rudely told that they needed an adult with them in order to get breakfast. While breakfast was much better than the evening offerings, it still left a lot to be desired. All in all, not worth the extra price. Save your money and head to nearby Monarch food court for any meals, it's a much better place to eat. ||As for the room, I became worried as we exited the elevator on our floor to see bubbling paint on the ceiling of the elevator lobby. When we got to our room, the wallpaper outside our door was visibly peeling off the wall at the seams. Once inside our room, we found much more bubbling paint on the ceiling. In the bathroom, the shower curtain was ripped in several places and the sink aerator was not functioning properly and spraying water all around when in use. ||I did email corporate to let them know of all of the above problems, but no one ever responded. If I were you, I'd look elsewhere for a place to stay, as the Marriott City Center is quite rundown, and no one seems to care.

Google
Large hotel, well situated in uptown Charlotte, with comfortable rooms, good bedding. Breakfast at the restaurant not offering a real continental option, with rather poor level of service. Annoying wifi on which you have to re-connect very often, putting you in 5G without you noticing it: this has to be fixed as really unpleasant for who is here to work. Insufficient lifts capacity during rush hours, as 2 lifts seem to be dedicated to only going down from the lobby for the hotel staff.

Camilla P.

Yelp
This hotel was completely meh. Zarinthia at the front desk was helpful and accommodating, but most of the staff here seem genuinely dead inside. Rooms were $400 a night on a week night, and I don't see why these beige boxes are so expensive. The gym was nice a guess? They also double charged me for my room. I was told that they had to put a hold on my credit card for the room fee, but I could pay cash upon check out and then the hold would be released. The hold was never released and it's impossible to actually reach them by phone or email, so I had to dispute the charge with my bank. I think there are nicer hotels around that are probably more efficient with accounts.

Yelp
I wish I could give this more stars because it stating it's a 4 star is a push. The downstairs area of the hotel is fantastic however the room cleanliness and the staffs service is horrible. I am giving it more stars for the location but again nothing great. I'll start by my check in process. I've been a Marriott rewards staying many times at tons of hotels. I asked for an early check in even doing it the day before. Just put in 10 am hoping to get in around 1 or 2. Wanting to have at least 24 hours with a room I'm paying for only for me to call at 2 pm and be told we were packed last night and it's never not will be "guaranteed for an early check in" and that they "will let us know" when they "will check us in." The staff was super off putting, around arrival at 345 when our room was so called ready we weren't greeted by anyone the valet took our keys and our name and ran. The front desk didn't smile say hi just said ID and that was it. We called to get extra waters and towels and they said sure and never even brought anything. we tried 3x and so we ended up taking them off of the maid in the hallway. The room was gross- layers of dust on the lamps, around the mirror, so much it was falling off when the hair dryer it it with air. The sheets had black dots and were so wrinkly it looked like they weren't changed. There were rings where drinks were on the glass and the mirrors in the bathroom were chipped and sharp. There were left over ear cleaners and trash between the sink and wall, and dark curly hairs in the shower. From the hours of 5 am on you could hear what was maybe house keeping pounding on doors we thought it was a woodpecker. The view of the room looked into a parking lot and old air conditioners. The location was the only positive and it doesn't even get more On checkout not one person said thank you, acknowledged us, the valet handed us our keys put his hand out for a tip and that was it no greeting nothing. Staff in the bar was great last night for the one drink we had and breakfast took 1 hour for an omelette. I would not stay here again not even for the less than 24 hours that cost me over 300-400 bucks for it. Good luck to this place because I see why it's reviews are declining.

Yelp
This was a great stay. Service was awesome from the time I walked in. Sabra, at the front counter was friendly and thorough during check in and check out. She remembered my name the next day, which surprised me. My room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is downtown in a very walkable area. I would stay there again.

Joseph B.

Yelp
Your nightly audit manager has a horrible attitude, I'm not really sure what his problem is, but it made me not want to stay at the hotel! And by the way, you might wanna tell him to stop flirting with boys at the front door and do his job. Me and my friend were out walking uptown Charlotte, like we do every morning to get food to the homeless. A lady had just asked us for a blanket. I was going to stop in your location and buy one and the man wouldn't even let us in the door again tell him to stop flirting with that boy at the front door and do his job And clean up that attitude

Charlotte G.

Yelp
Great Marriott in downtown Charlotte, with walking distance to a lot of new restaurants. The service was great and the rooms and lounge were nicely renovated. There were several weddings going on as it was a beautiful space.

Vito C.

Yelp
Terrible place to stay , checked in to a room that smelled so bad and musty and the dust would eat you alive . They moved us to a room that the mechanicals made so much noise that it was impossible to sleep. One of the days of our stay they didn't even clean the room . They said they were busy and I flagged down the maid and just asked her for towels . The place is run down an old . Would not suggest it .

Jackie R.

Yelp
A very clean hotel with comfortable beds and amazing staff. I was greeted by VJ at the front desk with a huge welcome! We had meetings and a hospitality and the food was delicious!! I can't wait to return!

Kong L.

Yelp
A pleasant and well-kept hotel. When it comes to furniture, I would consider it modern. There were simply too many factors that made it unacceptable. There was no main desk when I arrived for check-in. It was essentially a laptop on a table. I wasn't sure where I should check-in. I had no idea who was working. I was second in line, and the line began to grow with only one person assisting. When I arrived at my room, I was assigned a room near the exit stairs. I can hear people screaming and going in and out. I was on the 11th floor but can hear shouting and screaming outside. I was taken aback! The elevator took an eternity to reach the 11th floor on the day I left. I waited for over ten minutes, which was insane! My hotel was clean, but for the price, I could have chosen a different location.

Yelp
I attended an event at the Charlotte Marriott City Center Hotel and for this to be such a well established brand hotel in the center of downtown Charlotte, the Marriott seemed to dropped the ball on this one. There were two events going on at the same time a wedding and a birthday celebration and the music from the wedding was so overpowering that we struggled to hear the speakers at the birthday event. Dishes from both cocktail hours stayed in the third floor hallway area all night and every time guest walked to the restroom they were met with dirty glasses and unsightly plates with leftover food sitting there. Even the lobby restaurant had dirty dishes left in plain view like the elephant in the room. The food would have been good but it came to the table cold! A waiter named Steve asked each table in a blaring voice "you have a choice of prime rib, chicken or fish'" as he and the other waiters shuffled dishes of food off the nearby table stands. There was one thing that deserves an honorable mention and that was the valet attendants, especially Wyatt, he was courteous and professional. Oh yes one more thing, surprisingly the bathrooms were fairly clean so kudos for that!

Nick D.

Yelp
Hotel is newly renovated and in the heart of Charlotte downtown. It is easy to access a lot of restaurants and 10 minute walk from the convention center. The service is OK here are some of the staff have an attitude but it is what it is. The rooms are clean and sufficient!

Christina W.

Yelp
This was the worst 24 hr hotel experience that cost me so much money. Upon my arrival on October 29th, after a long overnight flight, I entered my room at 12:30pm. The next morning, I had an early flight scheduled for 8:45-9am. With plenty of time to spare, I requested my car from the valet at 7am. To my dismay, there was no valet present, and the front desk informed me that they were covering for a staff member who had left early, and thus had no access to the keys. Despite being the first person down there, I waited for over an hour with no resolution or explanation. As a result of the hotel's disorganization I missed my flight and incurred significant costs. I had to purchase a new flight for $442 and pay a late return charge for my rental car. I had laryngitis that day and could not speak to call and explain the situation to the rental car or flight. I figured I could sort everything out later after returning home. To my surprise when I called customer service for the compensation they denied fault. They did not get back to me after "sending it to the elite services" and then stated "the valet company will contact you" I was able to hear the conversation from the manger regarding the overnight staff Sam leaving early, lying to the person that was covering about getting this approved. The lack of professional was alarming, Due to the nature of the events and poor response to the issue at hand I continue to contact, request documentation of all transactions, and demand to talk to a supervisor. Unfortunately if I am continued to be ignored I will seek legal for compensation. This experience is undoubtedly the worst I have ever encountered at a hotel and the lack of care exhibited by the hotel staff is truly disheartening.

Yelp
The hotel has an amazing lobby bar with bartenders that know how to make solid cocktails. The coffee bar was extraordinarily expensive and terrible. Front desk was fairly short staffed so there was quite the wait if you needed anything. Hotel room was nice and modern with hardwood floors. I barely heard any noise during my stay with the exception of maid service. In fact that is the only reason I knocked one star off because they were so loud. I ordered UberEats which was delivered outside the door of my hotel room. The delivery person followed instructions perfectly and I received a quiet notification on my phone with a picture of my food sitting outside my door. Then BANG BANG BANG BANG on my door, the maid service yells that I have food outside my door. Is this necessary? I'm on a conference call, I will get the food when I get a moment. I don't need you banging on my door notifying me like a crazy person thanks. I stayed for 3 days and we had a work meeting here, the food was rough to eat for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Great experience for our visit to the Duke Mayo Bowl. This hotel staff was extremely accommodating. The location is excellent and the pricing is fair.

Roxanne M.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Marriott. Due to having a membership we had all the works. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and it was in the middle of everything. We either walked or used a scooter to get everywhere which was fun and convenient. If we ever return to Charlotte this is where we will stay.

Penny C.

Yelp
As a platinum elite member, I was extremely disappointed by the M Club. The food served was ice cold. The only 5 star aspects of this hotel is Stokes Restaurant and its staff. The hallway carpet on the floors is filthy and needs deep cleaning.

Phil Y.

Yelp
The Charlotte Marriott City Center was a good hotel for us. Check in was kind of interesting. There is no front counter. It was like 3 or 4 different workstations (islands) with iPads. We had made reservations for a 2 queen room but was upgraded to a kind room with a sofa bed. There is an M Club lounge that is open 24 hours with breakfast and evening appetizers. They kept this lounge well stocked with soda and snacks. It is located in downtown. The neighborhood does become active when the sun goes down with interesting individuals and policemen everywhere. There is a gym with lots of equipment. They gym was clean and the equipment was in good condition. Valet parking only. The valets were nice people. They were kind of slow when we were trying to check out, but, they had a large wedding arriving at the same time of our departure. My rooms was noisy from police sirens outside and from the banging of drums from an Indian wedding. Other than the noise, it was a nice Marriott.

Stuart L.

Yelp
Got to hotel after midnight. I was told they were oversold. They asked me to go to the Westin. Although they comped the room at the Westin, it was further away from my early morning meeting and I didn't get to bed until 1:30am. Very bad experience.

Katharine B.

Yelp
We recently stayed here in Uptown and had a very pleasant stay. The lobby is on the left as you enter and there are kiosk-style stations. Check-in was fast and everyone was extremely friendly. If you are an elite Marriott Bonvoy member, you have access to the M Lounge on the first floor to the left of the restaurant. The M Lounge offers snacks and beverages and then has a full breakfast in the morning on weekdays. The elevators are not keyed so that was a safety flaw I noticed. The rooms are all updated and renovated with faux hard wood floors, sliding glass door showers, large televisions and comfortable beds. There is a mini fridge and safe. Valet parking overnight is $35 and the staff at valet, the front desk, M Lounge and housekeeping were all extremely friendly and professional. The location is great to walk to the stadiums or other Uptown restaurants or destinations.

Helaina H.

Yelp
This hotel is wonderful! If you are coming to Charlotte to see a Panthers game, this is the best place to stay, because it's an easy walk to the stadium from here. The service and amenities are everything that you expect from Marriott - clean, comfy, plush rooms with soft beds, cushy comforters and lots of pillows. Our room was wheelchair-accessible, which was nice because I do have to use one from time to time due to chronic pain. It hasn't been necessary during any of our trips to Charlotte thus far, but it's good to know in case it does happen. Our room had a coffeemaker and hair dryer, which was great because I forgot mine the first time we stayed here. This hotel is everything you expect from the Marriott chain, and my home base whenever I am in Charlotte. Highly recommend.

Marisa K.

Yelp
Guys, this hotel smells so bad. It smells like the back of house everywhere (and the back of house is DISGUSTING! There are some serious health code violations happening behind the scenes). The loading dock was disgusting and there was food all over the ground, rotting away and stinking up the place. It's too sassy for me, 1/10.

Dr. Scott C.

Yelp
Charlotte Marriott City Center all around great location and Hotel! Easy Check-in and both of my rooms were ready!! Great decor to the room with comfortable king bed!! The new M Club Lounge is large and very nice open 24 with snacks and drinks and breakfast starts at 6:30am and dinner at 5pm. Great spot Marriott easy 5 Stars !!

Joe P.

Yelp
Poor check-in experience. As a lifetime titanium I feel like I have made an investment in the Marriott brand with taking note of. I book a king room and checked in the day before online. When I arrived to my room I found I had been downgraded to accessible room with two beds and no seating, a tiny desk and features in the bathroom. When I brought it to the desk clerk she explained the were oversold and I have no other option. No, I am sorry. No we will try to move you tomorrow. No have a drink on us, just and I am quoting here "at least its not a double bed. For $400 a night, try another location that cares.

Caprice F.

Yelp
I stayed here for one night last Friday. This hotel is right in the center of Uptown with lots of good restaurants, bars, and entertainment options in walking distance. There's unfortunately a lot of road construction happening right now directly in front of this hotel so it was very confusing getting to the hotel. I had to call the front desk to figure out how to arrive after driving around in circles for about 30 minutes. smh My room was very elegant! There was a smart device in the room that was set to play white noise to help you sleep. There was also a sign right by it advising that there were complimentary ear plugs in the room and THERE WERE NOT. Still, the room was very nice. The earplugs would have been nice considering that I was woken up by the sound of construction early in the morning. This is the only reason that I took off a star. There's a restaurant, bar, and coffee shop (Coco the Director) inside of this hotel which were nice amenities. The hotel is valet only. I would stay here again although hopefully it's after the construction is completed.

Jules P.

Yelp
Attended an event there this evening and all I can think about is the exorbitantly ridiculous drink prices. $16 for an inferior quality Pinot Noir (glass filled at about a third) is ABSOLUTE HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!

GottaBeClean C.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this location. Very convenient generally; only took off a star because of the lack of actual green space for pets/service dogs. It is truly a downtown location. Room was nice with beautiful view, cleaned well -- very comfortable. They need better signage - circled the block several times while looking for it. There's a very popular club on the roof and it is across the street from the arena where the Hornets play - so this location has a very trendy/hip vibe. Doubt that I will stay here again because of the pet walking challenges (the turf on the 8th floor is not a viable alternative - it's funky and feels "weird" as in uncomfortable; why not put actual grass - somewhere??) That's a shame because the entire staff - from the valets who were so kind/helpful, to the front desk clerk, security guard, and laundry lady I met on the elevator - had a welcoming, wonderful attitude. Maybe a section of the half empty garage could be dedicated to the dogs - just a suggestion.

Kenisha D.

Yelp
Mildew was everywhere. Mildew in my sheets. Mildew on my pillows. I eventually had to change rooms. Mildew trumped any thing that was good about this hotel which it is why it only received 1 star.

Martha R.

Yelp
Called 3 x to this hotel trying to get a simple cinnamon roll delivered to my son's room for his birthday, as he was staying there for work. No luck-- one person said yes and would call me back-- did so at 5:40 pm, when I was unavailable, and then no answer on a return call. Call # 3 got the reply, " We don't do room service." Disappointed.....

Sandra W.

Yelp
Nice hotel but why is it considered a 4 star hotel when there's NO ROOM SERVICE??? Also, the restaurant closing from 2-5 on the Friday after Thanksgiving? ... well, let's just say we won't be staying here again. Too bad, too, because it's a great location.

heather m.

Yelp
Can I give zero stars? TERRIBLE. Stay anywhere else but here. Our flight was cancelled and we were forced to take a red eye. We notified the hotel we would be arriving the next morning early but to please keep our hotel room and we would pay for the night before to ensure it was ready when we got there after our long flight. They assured us we would have our room. Upon arriving, the room had been given away and there were no rooms available . We had to wait until people checked out and rooms could be cleaned then checked. On top of that the staff was rude and not helpful, with no urgency to help get us into a room- and not even really sorry. The rooms are mediocre at best. If we weren't there for a business event we would've left immediately for a different hotel. Service was horrible- tried calling the front desk at one point for over 40 minutes and no one picked up then acted irritated when they finally did.

Denise S.

Yelp
Pleasant rooms, central location. For this price room service should be offered For this price I would expect refreshed rooms if not automatically everyday, at least upon request. It's very unpleasant to came back after a day full of meetings to an untidy room with no cups for the morning coffee, no toiletries and no clean towels, more so after all these was specifically requested.

Samantha N.

Yelp
UPDATE: Bumping my review up by two stars because their restaurant Stoke is great and all the other staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Plus they let us check out super later at 1pm. I highly recommend the pretzel brioche and mac n cheese on the Stoke menu! This place has been a joke so far and I'll update this review again if it gets better but yikes what a night so far! We got to the hotel around 11:30pm to check in and were told our king bed we booked a month prior and had already digitally checked into now was not available and we would have to do double beds, the check-in lady said "I'm just the messenger" ummm okay but you're working the front desk so now I'm just confused. She hands us our key with very little info about the hotel or the floor we are on, etc. Go to get a water and some ice, no tray for the ice bucket to sit on to collect ice so you just hold it up I guess, which isn't a big deal just odd really. The last fun one is the vending machine, scanned my card for the water and of course no water comes out...cool. We have reservations at their restaurant, but not sure I want to give this place anymore money so we will see if we decide to keep it. Fun fact: our double bed room is right next to the elevator so we get to hear all the noise, real joy. I've stayed in several Marriots and this has me wanting to never pick them again.

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Great hotel in the heart of downtown Charlotte- convenient location! Stayed 9/24 and had a conference there on 9/25. Room was clean and had no complaints about space, temperature or comfort of bed. Both The Stoke restaurant and the Coco and the Director coffee shop were good! Construction was horrible in front of the hotel but of course that's not the hotel's fault. Two ball barks within a few blocks of the hotel. The only thing which seemed off pudding was the room rate for a Tuesday night- $400++ seems a little high for Charlotte, I would expect to pay that in San Fran, NYC, or LA. Marriott's check In/out via app and mobile room key features are a huge plus!!

Kelly K.

Yelp
I came to the Charlotte Marriott for a quick weekend getaway and football game. I loved everything about this hotel. Location, Location, Location!!! We were able to walk to all of the restaurants and to the stadium. The rooms were nice and clean. The only downfall was the M Lounge wasn't open during my staff. I would definitely return!

Pamm J.

Yelp
Great hotel in a great location of downtown Charlotte, NC. We had an easy check in, from valet to front desk. This was a very busy crowded weekend for weddings! But the service was still top-notch. During our stay the Minnesota Vikings and a large group of their fans checked in. To our surprise, the staff and security handled it very well and planned appropriately. It was nice to see the purple and gold and we got to meet personally meet a few of their die-hard-travel fans! All in all this is a great place to stay. It was very clean, quiet, despite it being full to capacity, and ample room. The hotel is not hard to find when you exit the freeway. Close to everything--restaurants and museums, etc. We walked everywhere to the places we visited downtown for the 4 days we were there. We will definitely stay here again to attend one of the sports venues in the future.

Yelp
A friend was coming to town as a life celebration of her late husband. My wife and I booked a room as this is where she would be staying. Unfortunately she came down with COVID and will not be coming. My fault for not reading the cancelation policy. You must cancel more than 72 hours before the date to avoid cancelation fees. Fee. There is an interesting word. In Marriot ease, this means no refund. Kudos to Marriot for figuring out a way to lose business in one stupid demonstration of horrible customer service. Policy is policy. No problem. I have a policy also. Guaranteed this will never happen again. I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy any other hotel chain. There are many fantastic options. I only chose it to be close to a my best friend who had been gifted a room. Look at the other reviews. They dress up nicely, but apparently that's where it ends. Hope this helps you choose where to stay.

Yelp
The room was good and the location is great but the service level from the administrative staff needs some work. If they make a mistake on the bill its next to impossible to call someone to get it straightened out.

Yelp
Things are changing with the Marriott Brand, and it's about time. This Marriott is in the process of being upgrade to meet the new Marriott Branding. As of July 2016, the Restaurant, Lobby, and Concierge Lounge are still under reservations, and for that reason, I can't fairly comment on those until they have been completed. Pro's: +Location - Conventionally located with in walking distance to many of the sports stadiums, restaurants, the transportation center, and the convention center. It is within a quick ~15 minute Uber/Lyft ride to the airport depending upon the traffic. +Room setup- You will either love the new setup or hate it. The design is geared towards Millennials. The carpet is now replaced by hardwood floors and the desk and chair is replaced by a long wall bench and small table +TV- They have upgraded their TVs to be the larger smart TVs. Have a Netflix or Hulu account, just logon to it to stream to your hearts content +Gym- Marriott has seriously upgraded this. Rows of treadmills, an on demand studio where you can workout the the tv, free weights, and more +Power Outlets - Many are located throughout the room with USB ports as well +Wifi- Two tiered and works well. See cons + Staff - extremely helpful and friendly +Shower - tall shower head, plus with a smaller extension to use +Restaurant - new and improved menu. Gluten Free items are clearly marked Con's: - Wifi- Expect to pay if you don't have status. $9.95/day lower speed, high speed is $14.95/day high speed -Parking is valet only and $25/day -Noise - if your room is off of Trade Street, you can hear some noise, even at higher levels -Rack Rate- It is not the cheapest. Look for one off days for cheaper rates. Also, currently considered a Category 7, so expect for higher point redemption rate.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, and great staff. Rooms are updated and clean. What more could you want at this price level?

Yelp
As a business traveler, I've stayed at all the SPG properties in Charlotte and am kind of sad I only started staying at the Marriott towards the end of my project down in Charlotte. As a rather seasoned traveler at this point, I've stayed in my share of hotels and I've got to say, after the renovation last year, this property is impressive. Staff - everyone has always been super nice to me - everytime I walk through the front doors, someone greets me with a smile and a "welcome back!" Restaurant - Stoke is pretty legit for a restaurant in a hotel. The bar is fully stocked and has ample/comfortable seating for many. Lounge - this is where it's at. I have elite platinum status, meaning I get free access to the lounge, and it's clutch. The breakfast in the morning is the best - fresh cut fruit, croissants, the best banana bread, coffee, snacks, drinks.... you name it. When you've got the munchies, the lounge has got you covered from jelly beans to rice krispies treats to gummy bears. Note - they use reusable glass bottles at this hotel, so you have to get your water in those bottles. They also serve dinner here, which though I have never had, have always heard good things. Rooms - newly renovated and is the best out of all the "name brand" hotels in Uptown. The beds and pillows are always comfortable and the bathroom is bright and clean. If you get a staywell room on the 5th floor, you get fancy lighting and aromatherapy scents. Some rooms have a tub, but the ones with a full shower are the best. I've never really felt dirty in one of these rooms. Pro tip - get a room with an even number so you're facing away from Trade St, which sometimes can be loud with the bars across the street and traffic below. Gym - best hotel gym EVER. Literally everything you need, minus a squat rack. The Charlotte Marriott hotel is my top choice for hotels when it comes to traveling for business in Uptown.

Yelp
Very clean and right in the heart of downtown. Our room was updated and modern and felt very relaxing. There was some sort of street rally going on so it was a bit loud in the afternoon one day, but that's to be expected in the city. Overall it was a fantastic location and I'd go back. And I'm super picky about where I stay.

Yelp
The lobby is on the third floor, with parking underneath. Upper floors are being renovated. It was pretty noisy throughout the night with various sounds. They make a point of letting customers know about the renovations, but they also assure you that your room won't be near it either. We were placed an an incorrect room at first, but they made it right the next morning. We were relocated to one of the newly renovated rooms. It doesn't seem like they were quite ready yet, but the rooms are definitely an improvement. The price is not bad for what you get. There is no pool, but there is a small workout room and business center. I think the hotel is by far not the best I have ever stayed in, but definitely not the worse. Hoping for great improvements once the repair/renovation is complete. The location is great. Very near to anything you might want to do or see. Time Warner Cable Arena is a couple of blocks, as is the EpiCentre. This is reason enough for me to return here.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS A DUMP!!!!! 1.) Made a reservation a month ahead of time to come in a couple of days before the scheduled wedding day for my best friend, and after a 10 1/2 hour ride I arrived and they did not have my reservation on file. 2.) After 45 minutes of not having a room or a place to stay, the OPS manager quoted me a special rate for my inconvenience and immediately charged my card for what appears to be a "discount". 3.) After the wedding rehearsal dinner of which I was a part of the bridal party, The bridal party came back to the Marriott hotel for a couple of drinks. 4.) The morning of the wedding before I was to get on the shuttle bus to the wedding hall I noticed on my credit card statement a repeat charge for a drink I ordered the night before, and as I questioned this extra charge. to my disappointment and surprise, they did not give me the special "discount" for the epic failure of not having a room ready for me on the night I arrived originally at the Marriott hotel. 5.) I got on the shuttle bus because I did not have enough time to argue any longer with the front desk and to the wedding hall I was on the phone with the Marriott helpline instead of enjoying what was to be one of the best weddings I had ever attended minus the chaotic Marriott disaster encounters. 6.) The morning of check out from this horror show of a hotel, frustration was just paralyzing... There is so many hidden cost, and non-transparency dishonesty at this location it should be a warning to anyone looking to stay at this particular location. 7.) A staff member threaten to kick me out of the lobby of the hotel while I was still trying to figure out what was going on, and why no one knew what to do about the Marriott protocols and procedures for misrepresenting a supposed "valued customer." 8.) I was not being disrespectful to this staff member and I said to him are you gonna kick me out for what reason? He said you cannot curse, I replied I did not curse at him, I also replied with courtesy to him even going so far as to say I respect him. That moment he said again I'm going to have to kick you out, I told him to go ahead and do it. he then said to me come outside... Again I felt for my safety and that of my wife's safety I told him, no, and he said he will call the police, again I am not from North Carolina it took me 10 1/2 hours to drive to this particular location in North Carolina and it was for a wedding for one of my best friends and I find myself being threatened on the last day of my visit at this horrific Marriott location. 9.) The man radios someone and says get security to the front, and call the police, again I do not know what is going on with this person and his once again menacing threat towards me. I asked to speak with the OPS manager and I asked for this person's name at this point both the manager and this person who has threatened me more than once at least twice now starts to ignore me completely. 10.) About five minutes into the supposed call to security, and the police, the OPS manager comes out and talks to this person who has threatened me on several occasions and instead of reprimanding him in any way allows this person who threaten me, again more than once to leave the premises. 11.) Meanwhile all this time my wife is sitting to the side quietly and again fearing for our safety. at this point I just want to pay the bill and leave this location. Not being from Charlotte North Carolina, now I have to watch my back until I get at least on the highway back to my home destination. 12.) I had the room from Tuesday until Friday, there was no maid service. 13.) Even the vending machine on my floor stole my money nothing in this place is what it seems. 14.) The hallway carpets are filthy and smell like wet rugs and mildew 15.) WARNING THIS Marriott LOCATION IS SUSPECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
It's funny how one doesn't really go into the hotel rooms in the city in which they live. Marriott City Center was the crash site for my best friend's bachelorette party. The staff was very nice, helping me book the right room and accommodating all of my request. This hotel was renovated within the last couple of years. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. I don't think it would be the best fit for business travel. Smart TVs are equipped with Netflix and Youtube. The bathrooms were very nice with plenty of counter space. The presidential suit and VP suite are baller and great for a fancy evening in. While we didn't spend much time in the actual room, it was nice for the time being and I would recommend it for such an occasion.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel right in the heart of downtown. We asked the hostess if there were and places close by to eat. She gave us a list of like 60 places. I did not realize before we got here that this hotel was perfectly positioned in the city! I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.

Yelp
I was excited about my stay. The room is nice, The walls are thin, you will hear your neighbors screwing and the headboard banging against my wall, if my peaceful sleep will be disrupted at least let it be my headboard. Housekeeping doesn't come to your room due to Covid, BUT NO ONE WEARS A MASK, now that makes sense. The valet parking is a headache, you have to wait to have your car parked even after you've checked in because they're always busy. The text option to get your car wasn't available because they were so busy, don't offer a service that you can't provide. I should've picked a Hotel with room service but I thought the location would be worth the extra money I spent. There are a lot of things to do downtown (uptown) but there's a rooftop pool that I can see from my room. This Hotel advertised a pool, I packed a swimsuit, but I have nowhere to go swimming. This is false advertisement, the pool in the picture is what I was anticipating, one reason for the two stars. The front desk customer service was amazing, the hotel is pretty, the location is nice, the amenities are lacking. I wanted to spoil myself this weekend and not leave my room except to go swimming, but I had to get my own towels and I had to sit in my car for at least 10 minutes to have my car valet parked. Very disappointing. If I have to come to work at the hotel I expect a paycheck.

Yelp
Our company booked this hotel as it was close to our meeting place. It is beautiful. I've stayed in plenty of Marriott hotels and this one is amazing. I really liked the non traditional check in process. It was so quick and on iPads. Impressive. The pillows were wonderful and I slept like a baby in comfort. I loved the shower head and it was so clean. Check out was just as fast.

Yelp
This was a great hotel. Great staff, great event space, great lobby! The rooms were amazing and clean. They had lots of light and space. The beds were comfy as well. It's all valet parking but they were very fast and $30 isn't bad at all for valet!!! Close to a lot of stuff! I really enjoyed my stay.

Yelp
Excellent hotel right in the middle of downtown Charlotte! It is truly walking distance to most things you want to go to in the city. Close to discovery center science and tons of dining options. Construction up front is a hassle but it's not the hotels fault. Check in was painless. Having access to the M Lounge is awesome! You have choices of food, drink, snacks, and desserts 24/7! Made use of their nice fitness center. One of the nicest hotel fitness centers I've used. Room and bathroom was clean! Bed, pillows, and Blankets were comfortable. Overall, a very nice stay.

Yelp
I booked through a 3rd party. I called the hotel directly to add my guest and an employee named Steve assisted me. Then my guest arrived and an employee named Austin could not locate his name in the system and wouldn't take my verbal confirmation over the phone despite having all of my information verified. Then I was told to call the front desk again using my phone because there was a concern of fraud but he had already verified who I was so I suspect racial profiling but I followed his directions bc my guest was waiting to check in after a long flight. I called and an associate named Lexi answered. I asked for a manager because I've never had a hassle such as this to add a guest through my many stays with Marriott across the nation. A JoAnn with a heavy accent answered and told me she in fact couldn't help me despite 2 other associates saying she could. If she didn't understand my request it is her job to find an interpreter who can help her understand the customer (me). I hang up and call the front desk AGAIN! Finally a female answers and I explain what I needed. Not only did she get to my booking information without a problem, she in fact saw that my guest's name was on my reservation. This took an hour of time we cannot get back simply because the previous employees didn't understand how to do what they should have been hired and trained to do. From management at the call center for Marriott to the front desk in Charlotte, they created emotional distress solely because they didn't know what they were doing. The next evening I asked could I extend, again, Austin advised me to rebook through a third party like I had before and he'd link the reservations. He gave me keys today check out a room and said to call down if I approve and he'd send help to move rooms so we could just sleep in the next morning. THE ROOM WAS DIRTY AND UNVACCUMED. I call down and guess what?! Austin LEFT without leaving notes for the person he turned the shift over to. So I was told that the room transfer was left unfinished and the room Austin gave me would not work even if it wasn't clean to begin with. So I was issued yet another set of keys to another room which became our final room. Remember the concern about fraud after verifying who I was?? Please explain how I was issued different 3 sets of keys to 3 different rooms and all keys were operable giving me access to all 3?! But Marriott in Charlotte is concerned with fraudulent room activities when adding a guest while freely giving me access to multiple rooms...Now I'm not only emotionally distressed but physically distressed from having to moved 3 times!! Why? Because one associate dropped the ball and didn't understand simple procedures like finding a guest that was already added to a simple reservation. As much as I recommend this place to my 2K+ social media friends and followers, I think I will have to stop. Luckily a manager on a daytime shift named May was willing to try to correct the situation but the distress and damage had already been done. I've never been so embarrassed or disappointed in my life bc I ASSURED my guest who has more established social media presence than me that this place was legitimate and would provide a seamless check in for him. Thanks for ruining the first part of our experience. And to add further insult to injury, May tried to smooth things over by comping all 3 days of my parking (which I still see was charged) AND 10K bon voyage points WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED and truthfully it should have been more because no one in the Marriott Corporation would treat their families or guests the way I was treated and I've been a faithful customer for YEARS!

Yelp
WOW. WOW. I had not been to Charlotte for a number of years. I had read about this massive renovation at the Charlotte Marriott City Center so I stayed here last night. This is why I am in love with this hotel! -Decor: contemporary, light, inviting and a check-in without a desk - wonderful staff - Taylor even remembered my name the next morning upon check-out. -M Club: lobby level. once again, decor is great. Excellent food and yes...M&Ms and snacks in the afternoon. -Super Bar: High West Bourbon drink with the big round cube - delicious! Talented bartenders. My girlfriends and I split the signature dessert. Oversized donut with this decadent cream and HEATH BAR pieces chopped up on top. -Fitness Center: one of the BEST ever. Large, new equipment, an interactive video workout in a separate room - worked the abs for 26 minutes because of the DONUT dessert last night. -Comfortable room. excellent decor. nice couch and work space. -Excellent downtown location. -Coffee Shop (Coco and the Director) adjacent to lobby area - super space to work and great buzz. I don't drink coffee but was able to enjoy this healthy smoothie. This is one of the nicest Marriott hotels I have stayed !
