"Charlotte’s Legendary Lobster Pound faced a setback with its plan to expose lobsters to marijuana smoke before cooking them, as the state’s health department classified the method as illegal. The restaurant plans to continue researching ways to legally implement the practice." - Dana Hatic

Google
Looking for a quick lunch in between visiting Bass Harbor Head Light and heading into Bar Harbor and this cute little stand caught our attention! I was on a mission to try fresh scallops in Maine and I was not disappointed! The bacon-wrapped, seared scallops with pure maple syrup were amazing!!! Our greeter suggested the blueberry pie and it was the best I have ever had! I cannot compliment Charlotte and her staff enough! This was a great lunch and exceeded all expectations!

Google
Delicious food and great service! The outside seating area has some heaters so if it's chilly you can still enjoy the food. Lobster rolls, mac and cheese, and pie were delicious!

Found this by chance. Unfortunately they were about to close for the season so their menu was limited. We were going to try a lobster roll but they were all out so we went with a haddock sandwich instead with fries. What an amazing freshly made haddock sandwich . Large and flaky fish and cooked perfectly. It was so delicious. The best I have had in a long time. It was so incredibly delicious and even the fries were great and crispy and made fresh. I am so sorry they are closed for the season but I am glad I got to try some of their food before they closed. Loved it. Worth a visit when they are open in the spring. Loved it.

Google
Kelly and Jennifer were great. This was the best clam chowder ever‼️‼️ my husband has the haddock sandwich which was very good. It was fun to sit outside on the picnic benches. We totally recommend this place‼️😎‼️

Google
Went in for dinner. Haddock dinner was very yummy, cooked really well. Fries and coleslaw were good. Homemade tartar sauce was tasty. Lobster roll was good not great. Wish I had gotten the original (mayo) over the sautéed (butter) one. And it didn’t feel like a full roll, needed more meat.

Google
This is hands down the best lobster roll I’ve ever had! The atmosphere here is absolutely adorable with such warm, inviting vibes. Kellie and Jennifer are wonderful—they’re so kind and truly go above and beyond to make your experience special. I highly recommend this place!

Google
Charlotte’s is indeed “Legendary”. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is great. We stopped in on a rainy day after hiking. They had a covered porch with a wood burning stove to warm us up and the food hit the spot. Don’t sleep on this lobster pound.

An update from 2019. Wow they have grown and it turns out they are the ones who get the lobsters "baked" before being cooked. I had read about it but hadn't put 2 and 2 together until I got back. Food is just as good. More offerings but the space seems to have grown, and they even have goats and chickens in the back which is a great kiddo time while you are waiting for the food. Staff is super nice too! One of my fav places on MDI and makes it easy for me to decide to not cook for an evening. From 2019: Finally got around to trying it. Good stuff. It's the basic fare just well done.

Yelp
We came to Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound and ordered the Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, Scallop Dinner, and Crab Roll. Clam Chowder ($11.95) and Lobster Bisque ($12.95) were good, but there was very little clam and lobster inside. I think there were only 1-2 bits of lobster in the bisque. Scallop Dinner (fried - $26.95) was okay, but the star were the fries. Aside from the lobsters, I think Maine has great fries. The inside was soft while outside was perfectly crisp and salted. Crab Roll ($20.95) was a little bland because the natural sweetness of the crab was covered by the bun and lettuce. I ended up eating just the crab meat. There is very limited seating. The elderly gentleman came over to ask how we were enjoying our meal, which was nice.

Sonia V.

Yelp
The best lobster rolls we have found. And the bacon wrapped scallops were delicious as was the haddock. And they stay open late in the fall while many other lobster places close at the end of September. It is take out or picnic style only but the food is awesome.

Wael D.

Yelp
Went to maybe 6 different restaurants during my visit to Acadia and only ordered lobster rolls at all of them and this place had the best lobster roll in my opinion. We ended up driving out of our way on our last day to get another one of these bad boys.

Kaelin C.

Yelp
definitely glad we stopped here on our way back from Bass lighthouse. The clam chowder was the best I've ever had and the sweet potato waffles were just a treat! There was live music (I think it was a Thursday evening) , plenty of outdoor seating, and the owner came around to each table making sure everybody had what they needed. This definitely is a must stop if you're in the area!

Angelica D.

Yelp
Fast service in the cutest little spot! There was live music which was great and the tables are covered by umbrellas. The parking situation is tight and not many spots but the turnover is fast. We got this suggestion from our resort and it was definitely worth the stop!!! I will say, it was pretty pricey but the lobster was better than anything I've tasted in Southern Maine. I love the little cow bell at the counter, I think it's so fun! Next time we go back, we are definitely going to get a lobster grilled cheese.

Whisper W.

Yelp
Driving by it you might not think to stop but you should! We stopped in to get Clam Chowder before we left Maine. We ended up getting the Haddock Sandwich as well to share. The Clam Chowder was made that morning and some of the best chowder I've ever had. The Haddock sandwich was great, but the bread overpowered the fish. I also felt the portion size of the fish could have been larger. Overall, flavor of the food was fantastic! The picnic benches outside added to the fun of the place. They had what sounded like circus type of music playing and they started making popcorn wen we were leaving.

Alice Z.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Experience: 5/5 Expect al fresco dining at the lobster pound, which is perfect for a summer night. Order at the counter, and wait for about 5-10 minutes for your order to be served. You seat yourself at the picnic tables. The seating area is quite cute; there are fairy lights all around. I got the lobster roll, which was around $30, which was expected. You have the option for a hot or cold roll. The hot roll has lobster that is sautéed in butter, and the cold roll has just cooked lobster. I got the hot roll. The size is around that of a typical hot dog. It comes with plain potato chips and a pickle on the side.

Mark B.

Yelp
We enjoyed a delightful low-frill (haddock, fries and slaw) dinner with a very nice piece of "ugly" blueberry pie in a very relaxed outdoor chilled setting. Service was great. You order at the window, take a seat and the food appears (after a modest wait). The night we were there featured a quite good singer/guitarist. There was enough parking beside and behind the stalls.

Ann P.

Yelp
First of all, we were greeted by a nice older man who directed us to parking and then he walked us up to the ordering window. Suggested a table to sit at, which was perfect. The lobster was so fresh and delicious. It was like eating a steak, but it was lobster. There was a breeze and funky music. I strongly suggest that you try this place.

Emily K.

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere. All outdoor seating with umbrellas to block out the sun. Everyone enjoyed their food-- the Lobster roll was a favorite and so were the chicken fingers/fries. 10/10 meal after a hike in Acadia NP

Rebeka M.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on the way back from hiking. This place was poppin' - lots of people waiting for their food. We ordered and waited maybe 10-15 minutes for our order, pretty reasonable considering it was the lunch rush (around 12:45pm). The staff were super friendly. The food was great, we each got a quarter pound lobster roll and the fried clams to split. The roll was indeed packed with lobster - there's no way I could have finished the 1/2# lobster roll. The clams were fried but were incredibly light and tasty, with tartar sauce on the side. The decoration is cute, it's all outside seating with umbrellas and there is an area with an awning covering it. It's made up to look like a rustic roadside diner, really cute. Glad we stopped here to grab a bite.

Tommy G.

Yelp
Legendary is right! It's a place you may just drive by, but then regret it. We had 11 of us and everyone was happy including the kids. We all ordered something different and shared for the most part. The scallops were very tasty and cooked perfectly. The fried clams were up there as well and not chewy like some places. Lobstah roll....right on the money as well. Next time you are in Bar Harbor check it out!!

Wendy L.

Yelp
This place has so much personality going for it and their food just screams Maine summers. There's limited parking on the grass right outside and a few benches to sit at to enjoy your eats. Their lobster roll (I got mine cold) tasted deliciously fresh with a slight hint of sweetness. It comes with a bag of potato chips and there's an upgrade cost for French fries. Prices have gone up so much for lobster but theirs is still quite reasonable for $30 a roll as of August. I don't think I saw that price anywhere else in the other nearby places. Highly recommend their lobster rolls! They also serve a variety of fried seafood items that I would love to try another time. Since I was in Maine, I had to try the blueberry pie and theirs is so good you will not want want to share it! It's not overly saturated with sugar and is just bursting at the brim with blueberries. It's served warm and the only thing that may have made it better is a scoop (or two!) of vanilla ice cream. I will be dreaming of lobster rolls and blueberry pies until my next visit.

AV V.

Yelp
Such a cool place - must have the seaweed salad - it's the best ever! Also had the Fishermans combo platter - excellent. Friendly people as well - don't pass this one by

Steve S.

Yelp
A funky drive up place where you order at a trailer and eat on lawn chairs/picnic tables, we passed on the lobsta rolls and scored some fine fries haddock, one sammie and one dinner with superb fries. The fish was crunchy, tender, moist, and delicious, highly recommended for a bite between coastal hikes.

Robert E.

Yelp
Dark Wednesday night in October with light rain. We arrived around 6:30 and the place was busy. Stood in short line ordered our food and drink, then found a couple of covered spots at a picnic table to the side of the kitchen. Food took about 35 minutes. In the meantime we enjoyed a band of local guitar players sining songs everybody knew. Fires in an outdoor fireplace and in 55-gallon drums scattered throughout the property kept us warm and cast a kind of campfire glow to the place. Food was fine (lobster rolls), but the ambience of Charlotte's is what really sets it apart.

Nikki K.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday after trying to catch the sunset at Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse. It was dark, raining, and we were just happy that the place was still open! The hot lobster dinner meal was kinda pricey for the amount of food served but we were too hungry to care at this point. My husband liked the taste of the lobster bisque, but was hoping to find more lobster pieces in it. The blueberry pie rounded up our meal pretty well! Wished we could've tried their fried haddock. Ah well... next time!

C W.

Yelp
Everything was delicious and fresh. We had lobster dinners which were incredible and so tender. It's the best we've had on the island and very reasonably priced. The pie was very tasty too and was a perfect treat after our main course. Charlotte has made the outside and seating area inviting and fun. It's a great place for lunch or dinner, and set up for take out too.

Kailey C.

Yelp
The meatiest lobster roll of our trip! Huge chunks of meat overflowing from the bun!! We went on a rainy night, they had a fire going around the side to keep people warm :) Despite the cold rain and post-dinner (after 8pm) hour, cars kept rolling up steadily. Love that they treat their lobsters with Valerian root to calm them down first. Very kind staff, can't wait to return and try the whole lobster!

Jason P.

Yelp
On my way to the Sea Wall in the late afternoon on a Saturday, I spied Charlotte's Legendary Lobster and noticed there wasn't a long line. When I parked near the Sea Wall, I Yelp-searched CLL and saw it had 4.5 Yelp Stars with a good number of reviews. I returned after taking some pictures. When I started my lobster roll order, they asked hot or cold. I'm from Connecticut, which is hot-buttered lobster roll territory, but I was pretty sure the main Maine way is cold. I decided to ask what CLL is most known for. "DEFINITELY traditional!" In CT, that would be hot, but I correctly guessed that he meant cold. I ordered it Maine "traditional". The good thing about cold lobster rolls, is that it was ready in no time flat. The bread part of the roll was nicely grilled. It was filled with thick, meaty sections of lobster that tasted better and fresher than the best lobster rolls I've had in CT. I assume it had a bit of mayonnaise or dressing to tie it together, but I really didn't notice it. Lobster was the star. I still prefer a hot buttered lobster roll, but I would gladly take this lobster, to make that hot buttered roll. After I finished, I ordered lobster bisque takeout for my wife. It was very good, but it was not full of big lobster pieces, like I was hoping. It wasn't really priced that way to be fair. Again, the base was very good. Creamy, with a hint of sherry or something, but it was not overly assertive. I also ordered the Blueberry Bread Pudding to go. The small Maine blueberries were the focus and everything else supported their flavor. The bread had good texture and it came with a maple whiskey sauce. Very subtle. The whole dish was super tasty. The atmosphere at CLL was very cool. CLL is in an area by itself. There is oversized Connect Four. A wiffle ball field with all the equipment for playing. Free range goats. Umbrella-ed picnic tables. You can hang and play, or just eat. Great experience. Friendly and efficient service. Great food. Charlotte's Legendary Lobster sets a high bar for the rest of our food experiences on Mount Desert Island. Five Stars!

Laura M.

Yelp
Good clam shack fare, reasonably priced, in a fun, funky outdoor setting. Most important, you can get a lobster roll that's warm with butter instead of cold with mayo. Mainers will swear the cold mayo is a must, but warm with butter is just better!

Heather Marie V.

Yelp
After exploring Acadia National Park and watching a sunset over the ocean, we stopped by in search of some traditional Maine delicacies, and Charlotte's did not disappoint. It is the most charming little shack (and I say "shack" with the utmost love) and the staff is super friendly. They were really busy when we arrived, but there are a bunch of outdoor tables, and were able to snag one easily. My partner ordered the lobster roll, but as a non-shellfish eater, I ended up being influenced by the hot dog. If you're not familiar with Maine hot dogs...they're red. Don't be afraid, they're delicious! The lobster roll was buttery and generous, and the hot dog bun was *perfectly* toasted with butter. I loved the fries: crispy and hot. Definitely stop by when you're in town!

Emily P.

Yelp
This is the closest lobster pound to the Seawall Campground and was recommended to us by park rangers. We arrived on an rainy afternoon and ordered four lobster rolls with butter and a slice of blueberry pie. The total came out to $145 and that was not including any tip! It was sticker shock but we did it because we wanted to try it and the whole place was a vibe. We got the quarter pound (or 6") rolls and when it came out we were slightly disappointed. They looked small and were not covered in butter as expected. But the bread was perfectly toasted. Was it worth the price? No. You can get cheaper rolls elsewhere that are just as good.

JP G.

Yelp
I had the lobster roll, the bisque, and a whoopie pie. All were super yummy. There are trails to hike nearby, so a hike plus Charlotte's is a solid combo for a day's work. Her story is interesting one to seek out. Won't disappoint...

John J.

Yelp
Found Charlotte's after strikeout at Beal's which was closed due to The Covid. I had always thought lobster was supposedly cheap in Maine, but that hasn't been our experience and Charlotte's was no exception despite almost a food truck with picnic tables, no overhead and a port-a-potty for a bathroom. Parking is very limited at best. A foot long Lobster Roll (for 2), one bag of chips, one Diet Coke and one tiny coleslaw was $73.93. Ouch! Well the Lobster was very good with nice chunks.

Cathy B.

Yelp
we stayed at seawall campground and this was walking distance to/from. really cute place, esp for kids. there are goats in the back! they have games too, like cornhole and waterguns. im allergic to lobster but my older son was able to enjoy the famous lobster. i had a crab roll and loved it. my husband doesnt like seafood, so he got a burger. we got 2 orders of fries and no drinks. $84, we did have sticker shock. like how. 3 sandwiches, 2 sides of fries.

Cherise N.

Yelp
So was visiting Bar Harbor Maine form NYC. Looked up this place and it had some good reviews. At first glance it would probably be something you drive right past and miss some awesome food. We ordered the fried haddock ,chicken tenders, onion rings, french fries , fried clams and a crab roll.. They were generous with the portions especially with the crab. The fried items were crispy and flavorful. The fish was well fried fresh and flaky. We started with a cup of clam chowder and lobster bisque. The soups were okay. I'm accustomed to chowders being alot thicker in consistency but not enough to take away from the experience. The decor is a red and white large trailer that you order from with some red picnic benches. It gives off that red and white circus tent vibes .It is outdoors so perfect for the summer. Not so perfect for the 45 degree weather we were in, so dress appropriately. We met the owner she was very welcoming and gracious. When they ran out of crackers for our soup she toasted up some bread for us. She moved our party of 5 to an area that had some tourch heating and an outdoor wood burning stove. We discovered walking around the area that she was also featured in National Geographics for being a pioneer in the search for more human forms of cooking lobster. It's not a fancy place. But it doesn't have to be when enjoying good food with good friends and family. Overall it was a great experience.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Charlotte's was conveniently located almost directly across from our cottage, so we were pleased that it was so incredible. My Maine goal of "a chowder a day" was met with their delicious fresh soup. The lobster roll was good, but, it wasn't the best for me. I'd still order it again, since it was nice and fresh but in all of the Harbor, it wasn't my favorite. Fresh pies were outstanding and the dark horse - the fried cheese sticks! Cute spot and plenty of outdoor tables, firepits, and you can hang out with your own beer/wine

Kaley R.

Yelp
Truly incredible lobster rolls and clam chowder. Came here after talking to a local and getting some restaurant recs, and am so glad he listed Charlotte's first and we ran with it. Located in Southwest Harbor, it's easy to get to from Bar Harbor and totally worth the drive. This was probably my favorite lobster roll I had in Maine, and by far my favorite clam chowder. The lobster roll was overflowing with lobster meat, meat that wasn't chewy or sinewy, with almost every one of our rolls having a full on in-tact claw of meat inside... speaking to the quality of the lobster and the prep that went into it. It wasn't overly buttery or mayo-y, which I appreciated. They really let the lobster shine. The blueberry bread pudding was delicious. A nice sweet treat for the end of the meal. Lots of tables surrounding the restaurant, and they're well spaced out. Porta potty in the back if you're in dire need of it, just before you get to the goats (!! not joking). Can't recommend Charlotte's enough!

William M.

Yelp
This has been here for years and has great food. The people are very nice and accommodating. I had a scallop roll and it was great.

Lacy B.

Yelp
The lobster was a good deal, and was delicious! Charlotte herself came to introduce herself and check on how everything was. There is also a fun backstory behind the business! A great atmosphere, there was even live music. If you are looking for lobster off the beaten path on MDI go here!

Rachel S.

Yelp
Kind of stumbled upon this place and saw it had good ratings and decided to stop. Had a pleasant experience but a bit pricey in my opinion for a stand on the side of the road. My friends and I each got a hot cider, lobster roll with sweet potato fries and our total was over $100 (group of 3). The ambience was very cute in the back with fires and live music. Food was good, portion size fair as well. Not sure I'd return as I would want to try another place but wouldn't have changed stopping to eat here.

Wolfy H.

Yelp
I went to Charlotte's with my dad, daughter, sister, nephew and niece. The people who run this place are incredibly friendly and so were the ladies working in the food truck. This is a great spot in a quiet area very close to Seawall Campground. The lobster roll was very very good as was the fries, burgers and desserts! The price was very reasonable and the atmosphere is A+... I highly recommend stopping here especially if staying in Seawall!

Miatta M.

Yelp
When I saw this place, I was a bit hesitant. It was basically a food truck with seating. The clam chowder was out of sight. We tried clam chowder at a couple of other places but this was the best by far. We also had haddock bites which were very tasty. The live music was a plus too.

Amanda I.

Yelp
I'm so glad we stopped here for the lobster pound experience. We came late in the season and Charlotte's was essentially the only lobster pound still open. I ordered the lobster roll with butter and damn was it good. The meat itself was so sweet, a stark contrast to other joints around that do not specialize in lobster. That being said, it was not the best lobster roll I had in Maine. It was VERY expensive (as expected) and for me personally, was not worth the high sticker price. Maybe I just don't buy into the lobster roll hype as much as many others, but that's just my two cents. My husband got the lobster grilled cheese which, when all said and done, cost about the same amount as my lobster roll. It seemed a bit overpriced. If I could do it all over again, I would order the grilled cheese instead of the lobster roll. It was amazing and came with a little bowl of bisque to dip it in. Delish. I also tried the blueberry pie due to the rave reviews and because, well, it's Maine! It was really good and probably the best blueberry pie I've ever had. I wish it had ice cream with it but the whipped cream did a good job. I wouldn't order it again, just because I'm not the biggest pie fan, but I'm glad I tried it. All around, I'm glad we checked this place out for the experience but it was very expensive for what we got.

Cory J.

Yelp
We stopped at Charlotte's while visiting the Bass Harbor Head Light. It was a cold rainy day but the staff at Charlotte's were very accommodating. We arrived as they were opening and they turned on heaters and built a fire so that we stayed warm and dry while eating our Lobster rolls, which were delicious! We highly recommend stopping here for a meal on your way out to the light house! Note - the Seawall road is currently closed but it is a short drive to circle back to the light house from Charlotte's.

Peter P.

Yelp
This place is legen- wait for it ... -dary! Don't be put off by the little shed that they operate out of, it's a nice outdoor seating experience (Bonus: there are goats in the field out back that you can pet). When it starts to get chilly towards the end of the season, there are three covered picnic benches with heaters to keep you warm. The pound lobster can be had half on a cold roll with mayonnaise and lettuce, and half on a hot buttered roll. Both options are awesome!

Anat S.

Yelp
Cool spot. Friendly owner. Food comes pretty quickly. We order the foot long lobster roll. It's was great but I was missing butter. The lobster soup combined with clam chowder was unique and our favorite. So delicious. The haddock sandwich was fresh but I wished it had more seasoning. The grilled cheese w lobster and home fries are yummy. And for dessert we had. The blueberry pie was delicious. Great place to get dinner.

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Hmm... Charlotte's is one of the most highly-rated lobster pounds around, but it wasn't very memorable for me. Plenty of "street parking" and outdoor benches. Especially family friendly because of all the games and open field to run around, but the grave sites in the back make you wonder about the story behind them. I came here with my in-laws near closing time. We ordered a variety of things between the six of us. Personally I got the lobster roll. Because there were so many families ahead, we waited in the dark for about 30-45 minutes to get our food. Everything was packed up nicely, and we decided to head home to eat instead. The lobster meat on my roll was fresh but unflavored. Same with the bun. There was no butter or mayo, and it got me thinking if this is the norm for Maine, or if I needed to ask for it on the side. No one else at the table seemed impressed with their food, including the oddly-battered scallops. I'm glad I got a slice of blueberry pie, though. If you have a few days to spend on your visit to Maine, I'd recommend sampling all the popular spots, including this one. It's family-run and has been around for several decades. You can plan ahead and BYOB and picnic blankets if the weather is nice. I'm sure the kids would love it. Just be prepared for a long wait, and bring sunscreen and bug spray.

Su L.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday night for an early dinner. We got here at 5, but the place had been so busy during the day that they paused taking orders until 5:30pm. We waited around in the cold air of early evening in Maine, and were the first in the line to order after they opened up the window again. I ordered the boiled lobster, while my husband got the lobster roll with onion rings. The woman was very apologetic about everyone having to wait to order, and gave us a discount on the food. Our food was served quickly after we ordered, and there were several spaced out outdoor tables for us to eat at. They also have goats at the back of the restaurant, which a man associated with the restaurant pointed us to. Service was lovely and the food was great. Would recommend coming here for a lobster meal in the Acadia area.

Steve G.

Yelp
After eating my way through Maine's coast, I'm going to have to say "best" goes to Charlotte. Priced lower than others, her roll was literally perfect. I went with hot lobster in butter and it was generously scooped into a feathery toasted roll. Gone in about a minute. Charlotte has other food too, but the attraction is lobster and the colorful picnic grounds around her operation: kids activities, funny signs, live goats and a fire going on the day we stopped. We also had some blackberry apple crisp, served warm but underdone. But we ate it all. Charlotte gained national fame when she smoked lobsters in marijuana smoke so they wouldn't mind being boiled. She ran into troubles so now hits them with valerian root. All I know is they tasted great.

Sam P.

Yelp
Charlottes is a relatively small establishment in southwest harbor with outside sitting only and perhaps your only option to dine around there in the month of October . They're however fairly quick in their service and generally great quality of dishes

David C.

Yelp
So, I stumbled across this gem on my first night at MDI after a long day of exploring Acadia. They were out of the lobster dinners (alas), but they had plenty of lobster rolls prepped and ready. I had the sauteed lobster roll, fries, and some blueberry "ugly" pie. I took things home, since there was a brisk wind, and tucked into some genuine Maine faire. Lobster roll was fantastic - was expecting a little more cream, but that may be Maine's version vs. what you might see in other areas. The fries were hot, crisp, and def. not soggy ... perfectly held up under ketchup. And the pie ... oh, baby ... fresh Maine blueberries, and plenty of them! If I would've been smart, I would've heated up the pie just a little bit. So ... go for the "story", but the food is excellent. Enjoy!

Maureen H.

Yelp
Stopped with a party of four and saw the positive reviews but we were not impressed. The lobster rolls did have a generous amount of lobster but no butter.?? Lobster bisque had zero lobster in it and tasted floury. Very disappointing. My husband did enjoy his scallop roll. But what really disappointed was the fact that they apparently add a 15% gratuity to any bill over $100 and my husband didn't realize it so when he went to sign the card and the woman was watching him the tip page came up and she did not mention it at all. We therefore ended up double tipping on a very average meal that was basically take out. While it was our mistake she could have said something and it felt like she probably sees it quite a bit. Nearly $200 for that meal felt like fraud.

Diana A.

Yelp
Freshest fried shrimp; delicious! Went there specifically for lobster and were super disappointed they didn't have any.

Jill I.

Yelp
Loved the varied seating areas and all the cute kooks and crannies. The goats were so fun to watch as well as the deer that appeared in the field. So many fun things to look at and check out . Food was good no amazing a bit disappointed in the onion rings no real flavor. The haddock sandwich was served on an excellent multi grain bun . The burger was good a bit under cook fir a medium well, good bun as well. Fries were ok nothing that special. The place was hopping a really tourist attraction probably due to the fact that they get the lobsters stoned or you can buy one and have them set it free. Great back story about the owner.

Yelp
This was the last meal of our Maine vacation, which we combined with a stop at Bass Harbor Head Light and the Ship Harbor trail. We got there right as they were opening for the day (we were literally the first to order) which I felt weird about for about 5 seconds until we A) realized how friendly everyone there was and B) realized how quickly the place would become busy. By the time we left, our parking spot was a hot commodity. My husband and I shared the lobster grilled cheese (with a bisque dipping sauce!), a crab roll, and blueberry pie. I can't say enough good things! It was easily my favorite of the similar establishments in the area we visited.

Yelp
I'm going to go against the grain and say that the lobster roll here was one of the worst I've had. They didn't do enough to the bun, the bun was not well toasted, too thick, and no butter. It was actually an embarrassment imo. Spent 40 bucks on the foot long for that... However, everything else was great. Also got the clam chowder and fried clams. Those two were reasonably priced. The clam chowder was my favorite one on the island. There was a very generous portion of seafood inside and I didn't have to add salt this time . The fried clams were also amazing. Normally you fry stuff and the taste of the clams is masked by all the batter and oil. Here, you could still taste how fresh the clams were and the pieces were so large so you're not just eating batter. Also got the blueberry pie since apparently that's a thing in Maine, and it didn't disappoint but I also don't have a lot of experience with blueberry pies. Lastly I asked to buy lobster to pack on the plane, and was advised against it from the owner. I ended up buying from another vendor and it was easy to bring back home. This might have been a 5 star had I not gotten the lobster roll, that was honestly terrible... I'd advise others to just get the full lobster instead

Yelp
This is my favorite of all the lobster pounds I stopped by. I can't believe I didn't rate this as soon as I came here! On our limited Lobster Pound Tour (it was billed as an Acadia vacation, but you can just as easily call it a lobster pound tour), we came here TWICE. Everything tasted so fresh and good. This is on the list for my return to the area (hopefully soon...)!
