Charlton Arms Hotel

Had a great lunch here - would definitely go back. Food was delicious. Starters are generous in size and the view over the water is lovely. Parking was a bit tricky as the carpark was full, but we managed to find a spot. I would recommend trying the wine before ordering a glass; I was a bit disappointed by mine.

We're staying with friends who really like this restaurant, so four of us ate here on Friday. It was a great evening. The food was excellent, we all had chosen different main courses and everyone enjoyed their food. We shared a couple of desserts and they were lovely. The staff were brilliant, the location is very convenient for the town and everyone had a great time. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely stay at The Charlton Arms Hotel after a day at the races. The food was absolutely superb, definitely 5 stars without a doubt. We were a large party and shared a good selection of the starter and main menu. It was all fantastic. The highlight for me was a chicken and duck wellington which I'm still day dreaming about. Breakfast was also excellent and our whole party agreed it's somewhere we will try and meet at again. Hopefully next year. There was a slight misunderstanding with our bill, which was quickly sorted by the friendly staff, but that is the reasoning behind 4 not 5 stars on service. It's a lovely old building with lots of nice nooks and crannies to explore. My room was relatively small for a twin bed room, but the decor was nice and everything worked well. This place is definitely worth a visit, the spot on the river in what is a lovely market town is beautiful. The food (& this is my second visit almost ten years apart) is fantastic.

We regularly meet a friend there for lunch. When we were there yesterday the waitress accidentally knocked over one of the cocktails we had ordered. A profusion of apologies followed and the cocktail in question was quickly replaced. The food was of the usually very high standard, but when we got the bill we saw that we had not been charged at all for our three cocktails. A quiet and extremely effective gesture that moved all three of us and reinforced our already extremely high view of the excellent customer service there.

We've stayed here several times and it's always been great. The staff are wonderful, so welcoming, friendly and helpful.|The room was great, well appointed and exceptionally clean , as was the rest of the hotel.|The bar has a good choice of beer, wine and spirits and is popular with locals, always a good sign.|The food is exceptional. Varied choice of pub favourites and chef's specials. Some of the best food we've ever had.|Looking forward to our next visit.

An excellent place to stay and eat. All the staff are incredibly helpful, polite and want to make your stay special. The rooms have individual charm and character, with lovely views. All are spotlessly clean and well equipped for your stay. The food is by far the best we have had so far. It is not only delicious but has the right balance of fine dining yet casually comfortable for those who do not like the stuffiness that sometimes comes with fine dining. Our evening meal was the best of our holiday and the breakfast matched. Prepared individually perfect and served by the very engaging and friendly owners. This place is a real gem in Ludlow and I understand why it is so popular with locals and tourists alike. Well done The Charlton!

I’ve just enjoyed my fifth visit to the hotel and cannot praise the Charlton Arms highly enough - it really is a ‘taste of heaven’. The rooms are very comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean and have fabulous views over the River Teme. The staff are absolutely brilliant and really make guests feel welcome. The bar and restaurant (also open to non residents) are excellent - the food is ambrosial (and caters well for vegetarians). I always come away feeling much refreshed and rested (and looking forward to my next visit). Every aspect of the place is spot on!

Had a lovely meal with friends and family, atmosphere was relaxing and nothing as a problem. Gemma was very accommodating and all staff went above and beyond to make the night a lovely one. One of us ordered the pork and it was the best pork that he has ever had :) we will be back
