A newer East Sac spot earning word-of-mouth for laab, prik king, and yellow curry; diners note warm service and flexibility with heat levels. A low-key room with neighborhood energy, it’s quickly become a local weeknight favorite.

Cute spot in the East Sacramento area. Good service. Big flavors. Large portions. Definitely sharable. It's small so not good for large group dining. There's really only one large table. They have an old school AC system which ice has to be added so it can be a bit warm inside during scorching triple degrees. Back to the food. The two of us shared the chicken saute, pad Thai and eggplant with fried tofu along with a side of rice. All of it was tasty. We had leftovers after stuffing our faces. We both enjoyed the Thai iced tea as well. This is a place I'd visit again for sure. Cheers to the hole in the wall, Mom/Pop type restaurants because those are the ones I love supporting.

Several family members and I stopped in for a weekend dinner and were promptly greeted and seated. All of us were vegetarian, and the menu offered plenty of options. Everything we ordered was delicious; even familiar dishes had superior ingredients and felt special. The brother and sister who own/run the restaurant were so delightful; they read the room really well and engaged just the right amount. My party had a wonderful experience and still talk about how sad we are that we live so far away--if we were closer, we'd eat there every week! Highly recommend.

Google
The food was delicious and the portions were great. The waitress was super nice and gave good recommendations. The highlight was definitely the peanut sauce! I love Thai food, but it was my first time trying peanut sauce warm and not spicy.

Google
Super cute neighborhood restaurant. Consistently amazing food. I always order pad see ew when I eat Thai, and this is my favorite. I really love the Chinese broccoli they use, it adds extra flavor and texture to the noodle dish. The employees are always super friendly and accommodating when I make modifications to my food since I'm soo picky. There's actually a Thai restaurant 3 blocks from my house but I would rather drive a few minutes to have exceptional food !!

My partner and I had dinner here for date night, and it was perfect. The staff was attentive without interrupting our conversation, and they gave excellent wine pairing suggestions. The red curry and basil stir-fry were amazing, with just the right level of spice. The soft music, candles, and elegant Thai-inspired décor made for such a romantic evening.

Google
One of our favorites! The food is consistently great and the portions are huge. What really sets them apart is the service. The staff are all so kind and thoughtful. We came with our 3 year old, and forgot our coloring supplies. One of the staff came and brought him some paper and crayons, and carried on a conversation with him. It was observant and thoughtful. The staff brought him all the real dishes, just slightly smaller, and my three year old was thrilled and felt “apart of”, and to not have plastic ware. It’s just overall always a great experience; can’t recommend it enough!

Google
Locate in a small strip mall, I found it hard to get in and out of. Also, minimum availability of street parking. The business is only 6 months old. However, the tables are beat up, scratched, and sticky. They had a floor fan to cool the place down. The food was full of flavor, and the portions were large. The homemade spring rolls are full of lettuce, very well presented, however, not worth the money. The service is good and friendly. We will give them one more chance.

Google
Dryest, most flavorless pad thai I've ever had in my life. That was awful! The place itself is cute and quiet but the food was the worst.

Yelp
TLDR: Really good Thai food, properly seasoned, fast, enthusiastic service from the staff and good value. For the Readers: Located in a small open shopping center with a few other businesses and bars, the parking was a little tricky as the parking lot is not very large. I had to drive around the block to ultimately find a spot in the same parking lot after someone left. Not sure where the drivers were visiting becuase the restaurant was almost empty. The restaurant decor is simple, with wide, flat baskets adorning the ceiling and just a few Asian touches on the walls. The statue surrounded by plants was the main decorative focal point in the corner. It also provides good camouflage for the speaker where top 40 music from the 70s through the 90s plays. We were greeted quickly by our very enthusiastic server who got us seated and brought menus and water. He made a few suggestions on the menu and left us to consider our choices. After placing our order, the food arrived quickly, with a nice presentation. In search of spicy dishes, I ordered the green curry with chicken, Thai spicy. My wife wanted to try something different from her normal Penang so she tried the Praram curry. We also tried their spring rolls with avocado and peanut sauce. The curry dishes had lots of vegetables with a good serving of meat. They even got the heat level of my dish correct. Nice heat that blended well and did not seem to be an after thought. My wife mentioned that she was trying something different and the server brought her small dish of Panang sauce so she could compare the two flavors. That was a very thoughtful touch. Overall, I will definitely return to this place. Well done!

Yelp
Heard about Charm Thai from a friend and tried it out last night. Debated on Door Dash as it's hecka cold out but seemed there was going to be a long wait so decided to bundle up and check it out in person. Wasn't too busy in the restaurant and found a nice seat. Server was friendly and chatted but we could tell he was a bit busy as we could see a lot of to go orders stacking up on the counter. Menu was enticing and we ordered spring/fresh rolls, yellow curry and basil fried rice. After a VERY long wait our food arrived and it was just absolutely delicious. I added some chili flakes and ended up mixing the food up on my plate and the flavors were just stunning. After the rush we chatted with our server for a bit who was very kind and we didn't hold a grudge over the wait time for the food (he was contrite but not really his fault). I will definitely return but maybe not at peak time on a Saturday night!

Yelp
We had been looking for a new Thai restaurant because... let me tell you. WOW! The authentic flavors, the generous portion, the amazing friendly fast service (Tyler), the clean/elegant yet inviting ambiance, ample parking. They use ingredients that we see lacking in many modern Thai restaurants. Not pictured bc we devoured it immediately- pad see ew + papaya salad. Both 5/5. We highly recommwill + plan to definitely return!

Yelp
This is another unassuming spot in Sacramento that could literally end my wandering from one Thai place to another. Parking was a little challenging, but it was worth it!! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable about the food traditions in different parts of Thailand. He helped us make decisions about specific ingredients that led to me actually trying a different Thai dish! That is a BIG THING because I love my tried and true dishes so much that I usually don't deviate. I left not only satisfied but also delighted with the cultural information.

Yelp
Charm Thai is really close to my new house in Sacramento, and we were starving after a day of moving and unpacking, so we decided to try it out. It's a tiny place, and most people seem to do takeout as there was a constant flux of people stopping by to pick up food. Besides us, there were only two other small parties dining in. However, the staff were super friendly and attentive to all customers. Let's start with the good. The eggplant dish is amazing! I've never had anything like it before, and I've had a lot of Thai food in my life. I think what makes it a little extra special is the drizzle of coconut cream, maybe, to finish the dish (see photo). So, it's not quite like a full-on curry but it offers some yummy creaminess to the dish. My partner and I were raving over this dish and fighting for the last spoonfuls of sauce. The pad see ew was also good, and I loved the use of Chinese broccoli in it instead of regular broccoli. My kids did not like the Thai iced tea, saying that it wasn't sweet enough. I had a sip and agreed with them. Ironically, though, I thought the rest of the dishes were maybe a little too sweet, so it seemed odd that the drink was not sweet enough. Overall, I think the dishes here may be too sweet for some folks, with not enough balance between sweet and sour. However, for sure we will be coming back for the eggplant dish!

Yelp
My in laws picked out this place, and it was amazing. I would order that same meal all over again. No crazy decor just enough space to seat lots of people. Service was super helpful and patient while we caught up. We ordered so much food more than enough for three people. The ginger shrimp, tofu eggplant stir fry, panang curry, and pad see ew. All so delicious, was so happy with it. We will be back with more family.

Yelp
I recently dined at this Thai restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, with tasteful decor that reflected Thai culture. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was the real highlight. I tried the Pad Thai, crispy pork belly, and Lao style papaya salad, all of which were packed with authentic flavors and just the right amount of spice. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was impressive. The flat baskets decors in the ceiling makes this restaurant feels like home to me since I am Hmong and have those baskets in my own home too!

Yelp
Found this spot on Instagram and had to stop by! I loved the food. One of the best Thai spots in town. We had lunch here on a Sunday. Liu, our hostess, was kind and very welcoming. Decor was trendy. For appetizers we had the curry puff pastries with chicken. AMAZING. The crust was moist and buttery! For entrees, we ordered the ginger stir fry with chicken and the eggplant delight with pork. The sauces were delicious with the right amount of spice. I requested fresh chili fish sauce on the side. I appreciated the fresh lime and Thai chili in it! We ate everything with white rice. Soooo yummy. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Delicious chicken pad Thai and chicken satay. Pad Thai is flavorful and fresh. Chicken satay was tender with peanut sauce and sweet chopped cucumber and onion. The service was great. Waters were regularly refilled and they checked in for an honest opinion of the food... which truly was delicious! Great spot for Thai with friendly service.

Yelp
The food here was great! It's a small restaurant but it wasn't too crowded when we arrived, and my husband and I were seated right away. The server brought us a bottle of water and the table was already set with water glass, plates, and cutlery. It's a casual atmosphere, and we caught them mid undecorating from Christmas still. They took our order quickly, and the food didn't take very long either. The flavors were delicious, and you could tell the food was fresh and high quality. We had the Yellow Curry with a side of white rice, and the chicken Pad Thai. We will definitely be coming back here. It's probably our new go to Thai spot!

Yelp
I work down the street and stop by here every once and awhile when I didnt feel like packing lunch. Their service is SO good, always so nice and happy to be there. My favorite Thai food is red curry, I love it extra spicy and their Thai hot was exactly the way I like it sooooo good. I got their drunken noodle today for lunch with a "hot" spice level, not as spicy as the hot for the red curry but it can't out fresh from the wok so it was spicy and temperature hot! Got to come back to try more!

Yelp
I know of maybe 10 Thai restaurants within 5 miles of my house; this is my favorite. There are several other good ones, but Charm Thai combines great food, friendly service, and a neighborhood feel that makes it stand out. I've had several dishes, all of them very good. Last night I had the Green Curry with egg plant. I ate until full, sharing my wife's Pad Thai. Still went home with enough for today's dinner. A real find for me was the Khao Soi, a dish that originated in Burma and Mongolia (I think), but was tweaked in the Chang Mai area of Northern Thailand (I didn't know this before one of my earlier visits). It's a bit similar to a Japanese Curry Ramen (soupy with noodles and extra condiment type additions), but they add a chicken leg to the mix. It's really unique. Oh, and the Thai Puffs (taro or chicken) are amazing.

Yelp
This Thai spot blew me away with its authentic flavors. The service was top-notch, with staff who were excited to talk about the menu. The papaya salad was tangy and fresh, while the massaman curry was rich, aromatic, and beautifully plated. The modern interior mixed with traditional Thai touches made it the perfect foodie experience worth sharing.

Yelp
Pad see ew was great. Curry was also good. But the pad Thai noodles were under cooked and too firm. I would come back for the other items. We picked up and service was fine. The place looked clean and cozy.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We ordered drunken noodle, curry puffs and eggplant dish. Loved them all. Will come back to try more

Yelp
AMAZING service. This place needs to be busier. The interior design is so cute. The place is kept very clean. Their portions are large. The menu is concise. Loved their thai tea.

Yelp
Authentic Thai food that reminded me of the time I spent in Thailand! We had the Thai curry puffs, shrimp pad thai, pineapple fried rice, chicken basil stir fry, and for dessert the mango sticky rice with coconut milk on top. Everything was delicious and the service was good. I also liked the decorations inside and on the ceiling. Whenever someone asks me for a recommendation for Thai food now, I always recommend this restaurant.

Allyson S.

Yelp
So nice! Stopped in after the coffee shop bathroom was closed. Definitely would recommend!

Yelp
I got the drunken noodles w pork. Great flavor but the noodles felt a bit overcooked. It was also a bit too salty for me. Liked the sauce and garlic bits. We got our food in about 10 minutes and service was pretty quick. It's a smaller place with 8 tables, good for a casual lunch.

Yelp
I was craving soup one Wednesday evening. Kept thinking what kind of soup I wanted and ding - Thai soup came to mind. I looked up Thai and wanted to check out a place I haven't been to, yet. Called to place a pick up order and the lady who answered was so friendly and nice. Told me the truth that the mango wasn't in season anymore so it might be sour if I got the dessert. I forgot to order a Thai tea but that's the perfect excuse to come back. I did a pick up order. I got the Tom Yum, Tom Kha, and laab. All hot because I wanted to see how spicy this place does it. It can definitely be spicier! But anyway: Tom Yum is sour and hits all the right notes. Tom Kha is soooo creamy and rich, smooth, and perfect. The ground pork laab is good, but I think there could be more protein provided. The cucumbers and cabbage were fresh, the right amount (not too much greenery that goes to waste), and crunchy. The food is goooooood. After a couple bites of everything, I made a promise I'd have to come back with coworkers, my boyfriend, my sister, or alone!!! Lol, this won't be the last time I consume Charm Thai's food. First time picking up and the parking lot is a one way to enter. Don't enter through the exit (like I did ) and Charm Thai is the corner spot, right off the ever so popular Elvas Ave. I'll do an updated review when I dine in!

Yelp
I have been to plenty of thai food and almost every time I order Larb & Pad See Ew to see if I like this Thai spot. This place did not disappoint with that. Everything was delicious! I love how they give you sticky rice in the rice basket. Keeps it so fresh! The server here gives the greatest advice when it comes to their chili oil and homemade thai chili sauce! I would say comparable to the crack sauce hehe! They constantly check on you if you need anything else at the right time. Not too much but also not ignoring you completely. My only complaint is how hot it is in there. We've gone here often in the summer time. It is quite rough, specially if the fan is not pointed towards the dining area. Unless you like the summer heat! I will definitely be coming back here to keep trying more of their menu options.
google avatar

Eileen G.

Yelp
Great Thai food! I've eaten some of the best, as a former New Yorker, and Charm Thai is right up there. The drunken noodles and eggplant stir fry are amazing. My husband and I are slowly working our way through the menu. What a great neighborhood find.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the food and service was terrific! I had the fried rice (perfect with medium Thai heat!). My friend had the pad Thai and loved that too!

Yelp
Awesome find in a tucked away strip mall in East Sac. You are sure to find a cool vibe with great 70's and 80's music at this place. Table and padded surrounding seating with large windows and nice atmospheric design. The staff is welcoming and service is exceptional. We ordered the yellow curry with chicken. The flavor was exceptionally good, very fresh, and full of flavor. We We also ordered drunken pad Thai noodles which we requested medium spicy. The dish was absolutely amazing and great flavor, however, it was a little bit on the spicy side. I recommend maybe asking for light spice unless you want something that's very spicy. The servings were large and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this delightful restaurant. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Theresa S.

Yelp
Solid Thai food; hot and fresh. I would love to come back to try other dishes. I got their chicken pad Thai. The waitress is nice and friendly.

Yelp
Food absolutely amazing, so full of flavor. Customer service, genuine, Greeted with a smile. Ambiance homey. Will come again.

Darleen S.

Yelp
Went for lunch on a Saturday and the place was empty--not a good sign. But we quickly were not the only diners there. We ordered just the Tom Kha as it was cool out. One "cup" was actually a bowl that, as the waiter stated, would be enough for two with no leftovers. He was right, it was just the perfect amount and it was outstanding! Excellent coconut soup with authentic mushrooms. We ordered the soup with chicken as is traditional. I would say it was one of the best I have ever had. I also like that they removed the usual bits of inedible galangal and dried leaves that usually are left for diners to fish out on their own. It's on the smaller side in a neighborhood strip mall near Sac State university on the north side. We'll be back to try more dishes. I heard lots of Thai spoken by all staff so I believe the food will be authentic--and that's a good thing!

Matthew I.

Yelp
This place is definitely a hidden gem of Sacramento. They have wonderful food, the yellow curry was by far one of the best I have had in California. Service was excellent as well as very friendly staff and very efficient. I will definitely be visiting again.
google avatar

Yelp
Quaint little restaurant, with amazing food and wonderful service. Officially my new favorite Thai place. It's a place where I know I'll drive almost an hour just to satisfy the craving. We ordered all the normal favorites I try at other restaurants. Tofu Spring Rolls with peanut sauce Roti Appetizer (with a green curry dipping sauce) Papaya Salad Drunken Noodles with Beef Thai Basil Fried Rice with Chicken Everything was so flavorful and fresh! Loved our server too. Very accommodating, friendly and gave the best suggestions for dishes to try. We will definitely be back again soon.

Yelp
What a fitting name for this cute little spot! Charm Thai has a simple and straightforward menu, which I appreciate about any restaurant. I went for the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, which were both DELICIOUS - full of flavor, cohesive without mixing together, and not overly saucy or dry. The medium spicy level gave both of these dishes a nice kick for me. My one critique would be the drunken noodles had less noodles and more vegetables than I expected, but everything was so tasty I didn't really even mind. On top of this, the service was excellent, which really makes a 5-star experience for me. Would definitely return and recommend!
google avatar

Andrea W.

Yelp
Mmh .. was excited to get here but was kinda disappointed Pad Thai was not very good had a weird smell also lol The crispy tofu was very good tho I usually like pad Thai but this one I didn't like
google avatar

Anusha G.

Yelp
Charm Thai is a great option for Thai food in East Sac! It's right across the street from Tupelo and has a parking lot for easy access. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small and cozy, but there is enough space between all the tables for comfort and easy accessibility! We ordered the garlic green beans as a side, stir fried eggplant tofu, and the drunken noodles with tofu and mixed veggies. Everything came out really fast because we went to lunch around 2:30pm. Our server was also so lovely and attentive. The garlic green beans were good, but I felt like they could have been cooked for longer because some were too chewy for my taste. The eggplant was delicious and cooked so well! I wish we had ordered it without the additional veggies, though, because there was more of everything else than eggplant. The tofu in this dish was also perfectly coated in sauce and just the right amount of soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The drunken noodles were also good but on the blander side. We ordered both dishes medium spicy. This place is on the more expensive side for Thai food in the area, but it's definitely worth trying!

Yelp
Visited on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was fairly quiet with plenty of seating. The lighting was dim which created a great ambiance with the aesthetic furniture and decor. We were quickly greeted, offered their menu, and provided with iced water. At first glance at their menu, their prices seem a little steep compared to other Thai restaurants in Sacramento but they offer lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options which are clearly indicated on the menu. We ordered their panang curry, pad thai, and basil fried rice, all with tofu. Our favorite had to be the pad thai! It was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of tangy, sweet, and savory. The panang curry was soooo creamy but way too salty for our liking. We were disappointed that there were no vegetables in the curry and only had tofu in it. The basil fried rice was too greasy but was very flavorful. Portions were generous and everything was beautifully plated. Would highly recommend trying their pad thai if you visit!

Erika L.

Yelp
Great services, delicious food. we ordered pad thai, drunken noodles, 2 bowl of chicken wings and chicken fried rice and nothing failed. Great ambience and clean restroom! As asian i recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place and have been here a few times. From my experience, they have different chefs . I ordered the pad Thai on a weekend and the pad Thai was vibrant in color, the flavor was really good and you can taste the tamarind. When I went on a week day I had gotten the pad Thai again and it was very bland. I could not even finish my plate. I noticed the chef in the back was not the same person as the previous time, hence the difference in food quality. My five star really comes from the service, I was observing the waitress on a cold windy day, the waitress tried her best to keep people away from sitting by the door due to the wind blowing in every time someone would come in. If by any chance someone sat by the door, she would move them closer inside so they don't get cold air blown in by the door. Of course she was respectful of where you wanted to sit as well but it showed that they really care about their customers and want them to have a great experience eating their food

Yelp
Food is delicious and takeout service is supremely fast! Staff has always been friendly!

Yelp
The food is awesome. Fresh and tasty! The service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is chill and welcoming. My friend and I decided to have appetizers so we can try different items. Food was definitely on point. My kids would love to eat here! If you get a chance - eat here! You will be happy!

Yelp
The first time we got takeout, we tried the yellow curry, Thai fried rice, and cashew nut stir fry, all gluten free since my husband is allergic and it was all so amazing!! We felt like it was the best Thai food we have had in a long time. The second time we got the same food, we noticed a significant taste difference. I'm hoping it's just was one-off because we did really love how the food turned out the first time.
google avatar

Yelp
First off the service was amazing, our waiter was so kind. Secondly the view and feel of the restaurant is amazing, you get an amazing sunset view while you sit. Lastly the food was vibrant, warm, and delicious.

Yelp
-Customer service: awesome -Food quality: mango curry was great -Bang for your buck: rice was not included but price was on the high end -Would I return? Every now and then

Yelp
Delicious authentic Thai food & vegan friendly. The vegan yellow curry & pad see ew were great.

Yelp
really delicious thai food!! i loved both dishes that i tried at charm thai. both the pad see ew and green curry were amazingly flavored and had good portion size. the service was very friendly but there was only one cashier/server for the whole restaurant on a sunday night when there were around 5 parties. ambiance is super chill and casual. i would highly recommend and come back to try more dishes!

Yelp
Decent seating for a cute restaurant. Food was good but a little pricey for lunch. Our waitress was nice and attentive

Yelp
Best Thai food in Sacramento!!!!!! Quality food good environment. Loved it!!! Will come back

Yelp
I had a craving for Tom Kha and ended up here after a bit of research. The order was to go, but from what I saw, it's a hole-in-the-wall hidden gem kind of vibe. There were four different parties seated, so I assume it's a known spot for Thai. The soup was good, even though I didn't finish it all until the next day. I will be going back to try some other dishes.

J W.

Yelp
We are locals and have visited all of the local Thai restaurants. At this time, this is our favorite, it's clean, service is fast, and the food is awesome ! Small focused menu.
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
Visited a friend last week and we decided to try Cham Thai and I would say that you must try it if you haven't! The ambience of the place suited their cuisines very well. Food is on point although just a minor feedback on the price which I think is slightly more expensive compared to other restaurants that offer Thai food. We would still be coming back and will recommend this with my other friends and relatives. More thank 2 thumbs up!

Yelp
So glad we decided to try out this place. The service was good, only about 2-3 tables were full on a Saturday night. I got the crab rangoons while my friend got the rolls. I did not taste the rolls but he seemed to enjoy them. I have had better rangoons, personally would pass on these and try another appetizer. For the main dishes, my husband got the mango curry, while my friend and I went for the drunken noodles. Beware, the food is spicy! The waitress told us the options were mild, hot, and Thai hot. My husband and I went for hot since we enjoy spicy food. Although we could eat our dishes, it was a bit too spicy for me to fully enjoy the meal. For drinks I got a Thai tea, nothing amazing but it was very refreshing especially once the spice kicked in. Our friend is lactose intolerant, so he ordered a Thai coffee with coconut milk. Now for the star of the show, the mango sticky rice! Not only was the presentation amazing, but it tasted sooo good! The mango was ripe, the rice was so sweet, 10/10. If I'm in the area again soon, I would stop by just for the mango sticky rice!

Yelp
Walking in the place is quite simple. We loved the coconut soup and chicken fried rice. We will be back again!
