Google
Probably the worst Indian food i’ve ever had in my life. I order lamb/goat jalfrezi everywhere and it has never ever looked like this! The rice was so overcooked that it was inedible mush and the naan was burnt somehow?? It seems like a practical joke. There was so much oil in the jalfrezi that it looked like soup and the “meat” was mostly fat. Never again!! Don’t eat here!!

Google
Ordered Chicken Dum Biryani and Mutton Dum Biryani spicy, both were delicious and so tasty. After long time had chance of eating a pure Dum style biryani and the flavors are just pure. For sure this will be my to go restaurant for future. Food quantity was perfect and fits one full person. Their tea was soooo flavorful and tastes just like the tea in India, We thought the tea was complimentary, which is not and had 2 glasses, but the owner understood and waved off the bill. We truly appreciate her being nice and understanding. We owe her many more visits in future.

The food's really good . Definitely coming back again. Awesome staff as well. The owner personally came in to let me know he's making sure every thing on my order is fresh.

I’m here visiting Detroit from Chicago and I must say this place did not disappoint! The food was amazing and extremely flavorful. I got goat curry, biryani rice, and garlic naan! The lady at the register with the hijab was extremely nice! Helpful with what to order when it came to recommendations. And her service was spectacular! 5/5 service! And she had a nice smile! :)

Google
Absolutely loved my experience at Charminar Biryani House! The food was incredible, and our host Fabi was fantastic - warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. We ordered the Chicken Chili, Chicken Biryani, Tikki Chat, and Chole Bhature, and everything was freshly cooked and served in generous portions. The flavors were amazing, and the quantity was more than we expected! Huge thanks to Fabi for the fantastic hospitality - we'll definitely be back for more! 5 stars isn't enough - I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Google
Best Indian in Detroit! There was a really long way at the restaurant next-door and we went to this restaurant and we were served immediately! It is a family owned restaurant, and our server was so efficient, friendly and offered such tasty suggestions! We love the Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken… and the chickpea Chana Masala was awesome too! Be sure to try the chai tea after your meal, and of course the mango lassi!

Google
Ordered delivery today. Had the Saag Aloo with Naan and Samosas. Tasted perfect! Potatoes were cooked just right and the spice level was perfect. Plus they gave me a garlic naan instead of a normal one which was awesome!!! Definitely will be ordering from here again.

Google
First time here, I got butter chicken- the flavor was a bit lacking but I figured there are days like that. Second time, I tried something else (Goat Vindaloo) not sure why but it was almost 1/3 oil :( Maybe third time’s the charm?

Yelp
i had the Tandoori Chicken, it was amazing and seasoned extremely well the restaurant was very clean and the service was expedient

Yelp
This place is definitely a must visit of you like India food. For those who do not know, Charminar is a landmark located in the famous city of Hyderabad, India. I say famous because Hyderabad is city of pearls BUT also known as the home of the famous Biryani. If you have ever tried really good biryani, it most likely is Hyderabad style. This place has your staple appetizers like samosas but also has a variety of Biryanis. The service us quick and the atmosphere is quiet. There is enough dining area to fit about 20 people dining.

Yelp
We were told the Detroit location is better than the Troy one in terms of food. I personally don't see that. It felt about the same with the quality. On a busy Friday evening, this restaurant decides to close half hr earlier than their closing time which is 9pm was my problem with this place. Maybe somewhere in Detroit I will eat, considering there are plenty of eating spots nearby. Also when we walked in for lunch, the trash was overflowing, dishes lying next to it. Good thing it wasn't crowded at the time so we sat from a distance to it. Maybe for a takeout I may try them if craving for Indian food otherwise not going to waste my time.

Yelp
This has been the only place I've eaten at in the last few weeks where I've thoroughly enjoyed the food. I was looking for some place new for lunch and stumbled upon this place. I ended up ordering curry chicken which was so good and very flavorful. They made it fresh so it was popping hot when I received it. It was about a 15 minutes wait for my food and it was so worth it. They have reasonable prices and I got just enough food to fill me up for lunch. I want to come back and check out more menu items. They have a lot to choose from and I'll be back soon. FYI, they have the fruit shaped ice cream that went viral online last year.

Yelp
Excellent Indian restaurant with nice fish curries, naan (which they have in cheese & garlic), mango lassi, ice cream desserts and assorted beverages. Service is exceptional and prompt (they even bring the food out to you). Interior environment also very cool with an awesome mural of Bollywood movies and another one with a cool art design. Highly recommended and check it out in downtown Detroit!

Yelp
We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Curry with Garlic Naan. They were both full of flavor and had plenty of chicken. The Garlic Naan was perfect for two. The order was ready before the expected time. We did takeout but their dining area is basic but always has clean tables if you decide to eat in.

Yelp
Amazing, delicious, authentic cuisine! The customer service was friendly and classy. I recommend the Biryani and chai tea.

Yelp
Good selection of easy lunch offerings. Easy location and good meals to go where you get curry w a meat and a rice. The space is very tiny but it is mostly a to go place. Service is nothing out of the ordinary. Samples would be nice before having to pick something as customers may not know what the choices taste like

Yelp
as the only Indian spot downtown, this is definitely a go to for me. I had their butter, chicken, their lamb vindaloo, and obviously their biryani. they let you pick the spice level, but are very true to what the spice is. So definitely don't be afraid to go for a little spice which definitely enhances the flavor of the dish. I thought everything was quite great, they were really fast with it, and there are some tables inside to sit at and enjoy. I thought the biryani was definitely their best dish, with a lot of added flavors, very tender chicken and the sauce that they give you to put on top definitely do that because it helps with a bit of the dryness of the dish.

Yelp
Its a very modest looking location, even gives off a fast food vibe. Especially for being right down town. But the food is stunning and incredible. It comes out very quickly and every thing is delightful and surprising. The service was friendly and knowledgeable about recommendations. We got the chaat and biryani and were beyond pleased. Place is a real gem and an essential part of downtown Detroit.

Yelp
Food was good but they shouldnt ask for tips during purchase if they have dirty tables that you have to bus yourself.

Yelp
Alright hear me out. This is the first Indian spot downtown & I have been here over 50 times. I love the food here & all the food is consistently good EXCEPT!!! The butter chicken and chicken tikka marsala. Sometimes they're super flavorful and delicious and sometimes they actually taste like nothing. It's my one gripe and BUT I'm willing to take my chances any day of the week!
google avatar

Joshua B.

Yelp
I highly recommend and get take out from here often (though I've heard the dine in experience is great via friends) The service is friendly and fast. I love the food here. The chicken curry or butter chicken are my go to. Medium plus spice level(and I like hot food). Accessible to someone new to Indian Food and an authentic atmosphere that lets you know it's the real deal. Again. Highly recommended

Yelp
Solid Indian food. Smells amazing, everything just needed a bit of salt, which is easily fixed, and better than being too salty. We ordered samosas, the Tandoori mixed grill with garlic cheese naan and lamb vidaloo. The samosas were quite good and the sauces that go with are yummy - one sweet red sauce and one savory green cilantro sauce. I really liked the green one and dipped my naan in it too. Fried well, seasoned inside, and not greasy. The garlic cheese naan was perfect - cheesy, herby, charred, soft and chewy. Highly recommend. The lamb vindaloo was saucy and smelled so good; lots of tender savory lamb, and it comes with a side of white rice, perfectly cooked and fresh. The medium spice level was definitely spicy, but not too much. I really enjoyed the Tandoori mixed grill, especially the sausage-like pieces and shrimp. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and had this delicious char on them. Yum. The chicken was tender and moist with that signature bright red color. And there was definitely enough meat to eat for 2 meals, maybe 3 for me. And for $18 downtown, that's a good price. A nice man who appeared to maybe be the owner was chatting with a table of folks when we walked in; we were greeted right away and our food was ready right on time, as we ordered ahead online. They didn't miss anything in our order - it was perfect, hot and fresh. I will say this: their menu is huge, and I've seen some hit or miss reviews. Maybe stick with the basics the first time you go - butter chicken, chicken tikka, biryani, tandoori, etc. Or maybe try one of the dishes that are prepared and waiting, as those are probably the most popular and made most often. I love that they have ready-to-go options for people who don't have a lot of time to grab lunch. As a suggestion for this small downtown location, they may want to consider shortening the menu. I did find it interesting that they had so many goat dishes, and one of the most glowing reviews was about their goat. Since I've never really tried it, maybe I will be adventurous next time. All in all, fair prices downtown with decent portion sizes and excellent samosas, naan and shrimp. We will definitely come back again.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING!!!!!! The staff were super nice and informative. Will be back again for sure. The owner is really helpful and knowledgeable. He does a great job of explaining planning things so if you haven't had Indian food before it's easy to order here.
google avatar

Yelp
The first thing I'll say is that I will come back and give Charminar Biryani House a second chance. The restaurant is very small, and they do have a few tables to dine in. Since there wasn't a lot of space, I opted to take my food back to the office. I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong thing. The flavors of the biryani were traditional, but I don't like that it seems they have hidden all the dry chicken under the rice. There were even pieces I spit out due to it having a warmed-over flavor and being so dry. I am thinking next time I will just try the tikka masala or butter chicken.

Yelp
Our server was so nice and attentive. She made sure we felt right at home. Food was outstanding and came out timely. The restaurant overall was very pleasant to be in. We will be back for sure!!
google avatar

Yelp
I was excited to have an Indian restaurant nearby my workplace, but with many restaurants downtown you pay the high price. I couldn't believe when I picked up my lunch the total was $34.99 (that's including my tip). I could eat lunch at the fancy steakhouse around the corner for cheaper. Also, we realized that some of the items were $1 more than what the price was online so be aware.

Yelp
Food was really good!! And they give you a big portion, I had to take some home. The atmosphere is really calming with music and decorations. And the people here are really nice!!

Jazz A.

Yelp
Food was alright. Food seemed to be heated up in a microwave or something because the middle was cold and the sides were hot. Not sure if I would come back again but the location is great!

Deepak C.

Yelp
I was on a trip, and just had the opportunity to dine in in . I had ordered a Goat biriyani and the food was awesome. The quantity and the taste was well worth it. A great place. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
Yelp had this Indian restaurant #1 on the recommendation and it was a quick walk from my hotel. Glad I came here. The food was delicious. It's a fast-food kind of location, but it tasted like I was in a nice restaurant. The interaction with the server behind the register was great. She was very friendly attentive. Will come here again. Fix the soda machine and I'll dine in next time

Yelp
This review saddens me GREATLY. This is my third time eating here. The first time I ordered was through Uber Eats, they suck as a delivery service, so some bad things are expected, such as I paid for a salad and didn't receive it. The second time my husband and I came for lunch, it was a four star visit. Today it is unacceptable and I actually want my money back. The food is so blah and bland today I almost feel like I need a Covid test because THERE IS NO TASTE!! I can smell and when you add salt the taste miraculously comes in. So I was .29 cent short because I left my card home. I had cash, they were great with that. Also, this time they gave me cold water and a cup.. wish I had had that last time, the last time I got their complimentary tea, which is not on the counter today! My table neighbors just got theirs, so the tea must be up CONSISTENCY MATTERS FOLKS. Those two reasons the patience with my lack of $0.29 cent and the water are the reason they got one star. Everything else was bad, like really bad. The salad had pepper on it, no dressing. The last time I got it there was dressing. Like a house dressing.. the other time it was not delivered maybe because they should take this $6.00 waste of money off the menu. Lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, no dressing. To add insult to injury. When I asked for dressing they offered me some big cheap bottle of ranch at an authentic restaurant, on here is the kicker... THEY OFFERED ME KETCHUP!!! Am I being punked, where's the joke? Ok, moving on to the soup. They asked me the heat level. I said medium. They brought me a bowl of barely hot soup, flavorless, and zero heat. I love daal soup. I have had this before... where is the heat, and the seasonings. I added the pepper and salt.. it still was lacking the stuff, coriander, the authentic flavors. The last thing I ordered was the fish pakora!! Deep sigh... it was not good. More batter than fish, and no FLAVORS WHAT SO EVER. My three strikes rule is in effects. I will not strike out a restaurant until they have three strikes. This one now has one... it was so bad I almost want to count it as two strikes!!!!!! But the last visit here saved them. THIS TIME.

Yelp
The customer service was spectacular! Fabi was incredibly hospitable and helpful. She checked on our table on multiple occasions to inquire how everything was and she made herself available if we needed anything. She also had helpful suggestions on what to order for our first time dining there. I ordered the tandoori chicken with rice and it was delicious! My boyfriend had the curry goat and rice and that was very tasty! Everything about our experience was enjoyable. I'm going to make this a regular stop. I'd recommend anyone to try it.

Chloe S.

Yelp
Food was delicious and service was fast! Not pictured, but the mango lassi was also delicious! Will be back soon :)

Yelp
Downtown location is my favorite... all the locations are fast and flavorful. Never had a bad experience. The chicken tikka masala is my absolutely favorite with the garlic naan

Yelp
Amazing and clean food! The spices were just right and had the perfect amount of garlic!!! The ban tasted homemade as well which is hard to come by! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Very exciting to have a fast-casual Indian option in cute little Capitol Park! We placed an order online after a lovely day on Belle Isle, and service was fast and friendly. Food was delish! Can't wait to go back.

Lili L.

Yelp
Disgusting food. My husband food a long hair in the food. They just took the plate and said to go ahead and help ourselves to the dirty Buffy again. They didn't even remove the tray where the hair was found. We are having stomach ache as am typing this review. It smelled weird and tasted even weirder. Please save your money and go so elsewhere. Meat was rubbery and food was cold and they didn't have a good variety anyway. Will never go there again. Not worth the money or the stomach ache.

Yelp
Food was terrific, service was quick and the staff were extremely nice. The ambiance is really cool too... beautiful artwork and lots of Bollywood posters. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Tell your friends!

Yelp
The chili chicken was great!! The staff was also very nice and it was a nice chill atmosphere.

Yelp
Very good food, good portion sizes. I enjoyed the goat curry and the mango lassi. Thank you also for the great service as well!

Groehe G.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Great vegetarian options. Mango drink and hot tea was delicious. Service was on point! The lovely lady that helped me was very friendly and gracious! Very clean and great experience all around! Eat here!

Holli N.

Yelp
The food was exceptional with the perfect amount of spice. You could tell there was a lot of love and passion behind the dishes. I would highly recommend stopping by!

Sena F.

Yelp
Portions are very generous for what you pay and everything I've had here is delicious.

Yelp
Ordered a fairly large takeout order for coworkers lunch. Order was ready when stated. Food was hot, seasoned as ordered, and large portions for at least 2 if not 3 meals. Everyone was very happy with their choices. Will definitely be ordering there again.

Surabhi S.

Yelp
This place was unbelievable. The services were not at all welcoming, the ac didn't work at all, and the food was so spicy even after we requested multiple times for them to make it as less spicy as possible. The food had no flavor and the naans and roties were so dry. They did not have cold water or drinks and when we requested for ice they said that they didn't have any. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

Tracy M.

Yelp
Excellent service, food is fresh and hot. We live conveniently close to the Capitol park location and love to pick up various dishes to sample when we have formers over. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Charisma D.

Yelp
Excellent food naan and customer service.I always stop by when I'm on that side of town

Mark V.

Yelp
amazing environment, hard work and respectful owner/chef/cashier humans, and very attentive to detail. clean, amazing food, appropriate portions, cheap $11.99 for a bowl of butter chicken and rice, for example. 11/10. recommend.

Keila K.

Yelp
10/10 everythinggggg. the food was incredible and came out timely, our server Zoha was so nice and accommodating, and the interior itself was so cute with movie posters and a beautiful mural with plenty of natural light. overall such a good place.

Carlee D.

Yelp
First time in and left so happy! Nice workers, great location, and most importantly great great food. There's a big menu and lots of seating, very cute on the inside. I have been to the other locations but work close by and I'm super excited to have a close good Indian food restaurant. I got medium spice and it was spicy but not too much, perfect. Thank you!

Katelyn T.

Yelp
went a couple of weeks ago, this is a great lunch/casual dinner spot! we got the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala and both were so flavorful and yummy! will absolutely be coming back!
