Chartfield Guesthouse | Best places to stay in Cape Town
"A century-old seaside mansion forms the heart of this charming guesthouse in the bohemian suburb of Kalk Bay.
There’s an excellent range of bright and airy rooms on offer, catering for couples and families alike.
The facilities are more impressive than you’d expect, and include a spacious garden, large swimming pool and wide terrace with glorious ocean views. The (included) breakfast is superb, but you’ll also find dozens of great restaurants nearby.
Hands-on owners ensure service is always on-point, from arrival to the morning tea and coffee wake-up service.

Such an amazing hotel!!!! Perfect location, we got an upgrade on our room to an ocean facing view for a very affordable upcharge, coffee’s delivered to our room, an amazing breakfast, the most kind staff. Seriously, no complaints. If you are looking go for a hotel in Kalk bay, this should be your choice.

I am a regular at Chartfield Guest Houes. Regular because I like it so much. I also love the location. Kalk Bay is an unspoilt fishing village on False Bay. The food in the area is really good especially at my favourite eating place, the Olympia. Breakfasts at Chartfield are a treat with a good variety of organic offerings. The rooms are large and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of character and warm ambience.

We stayed at this guesthouse for our company team-building event, and it was an incredible experience. The views were absolutely stunning, the staff were exceptionally helpful, and the food was delicious. Everything was well-organized, and the atmosphere made our stay truly enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous. My room had a wonderful view of the bay and harbour. Guesthouse is within walking distance of everything, including Muizenberg (30 minutes fast walk). Breakfast was wonderful. I would've liked a comfortable common sitting area / lounge.

Blocked shower drains flooding the toilet area, promise of full sea view due to bad experience only to be short changed with a semi-partial view, a TV mounted so that if you'd like to watch it you need to sit in the toilet door corridor or crane your neck. No plugs at the desk so you need to find a long extension cord and a small blow heater to entirely dehydrate your skin and the room and use so much electricity. Not worth the 80 euro per night. Breakfast is not included. There are no coffee or tea stations in the rooms.
Apparently they've been around for 12 years without any bad reviews. Alongside that lie, they promised an upgrade but are fully booked the next minute. Only if you bother to dbl check their story online or even directly mailing them, it's another lie.
With so many fabulous options around every corner in Kalk Bay, this guesthouse is not one I'd recommend based on my experience.

This is one of the best places to stay in Kalk Bay - perfect location, well appointed, spacious and tastefully decorated - lovely bay windows looking over the little fishing harbour, secure. Excellent value for money.
