Disappointing experience with prolonged account opening process!
I recently visited the Chase Bank branch in Broadlands, VA to open a business account for my new startup company. I submitted the account application on September 11 and have been following up since—over two months later I still haven’t received an update or final approval.
Here’s a summary of what happened:
September 11: I completed the account opening paperwork and provided all requested documentation.
October 6: I visited the branch and emailed the branch manager (Ms. Crishaon Jones), was told the review was still in progress and I would be contacted as soon as it was done.
November 6: After no communication, I again visited in person and emailed asking for an update by end of business day, but received no response or acknowledgement.
Throughout this process: I made multiple phone calls, in‑person visits, and emails — yet got no timely updates, and no clear explanation about the delay.
As a small business owner, I depend on timely access to banking services to operate and grow. The prolonged delay and lack of communication felt unprofessional and disengaged. I expected a larger institution like Chase to have more responsive and transparent processes.
In the end I decided to withdraw my account application due to the lack of action and decided to move forward with another banking partner, and they helped me to open a business account within a couple of hours. I hope Chase takes this feedback constructively and improves its small business onboarding experience.
