Château Colbert

Chateau Colbert, this was our hidden gem of locations. There grounds were spectacular, the chateau was very well kept and the rooms were cosy with new bathrooms. We had an amazing view over a Japanese garden and an old rail bridge. The staff were friendly and accommodated us well in English as we speak very little French. We will absolutely stay again next time we are in the area.

A very comfortable night's stay in a room with beautiful views over the Oriental Garden. Our stay included dinner and breakfast both were superb and memorable. Good value and attentive staff..The vegetable garden, Potager, attached to the hotel was inspiring too.

As a restaurant Château Colbert is incredibly special, the team, the food, the wine list the menu and the setting combine into something unique, something worth going significantly out of your way to experience. It is French food and service done perfectly while being welcoming and warm to visitors.

Just a fantastic experience. Check in/out has to be the easiest ever. The room was more than adequate with traditional furniture fittings and a modern bathroom. The fine dining in the Michelin guide restaurant is a must. Superb service and food which is moderately priced. We celebrated our wedding anniversary there and couldn't fault it.

Charming corner room on the top floor. Gardens were really delightful. Chateau is impressive on the outside. Reasonable rates for twin and double room. We peeked at the suites and they were very nice with high ceilings but you pay 80% more. ||Besides the fantastic Oriental Gardens, this place has limited options and sights. ||Some parts of the chateau were run down. As a result, at night, the left wing foyer and stairs leading to the rooms are frankly a bit creepy. Perfectly fine at day time. But I have seen other chateaus in better condition.||Had dinner here the first night. It was a popular option (not much else ppen outside) but I found the food was not as good as I expected with the exception of the fresh fig breads they served. Restaurant service was excellent.

Stayed here for just one night and enjoyed our stay. Our meal was fine in an impressive dining room. The Chateau has plenty of wooden features by way of panels and floors on the first floor and our bedroom on that floor was large, clean and with a four poster bed!||It has some beautiful Japanese gardens that unfortunately we were unable to see as we left fairly early. Altogether a nice hotel and we would return.

Our family of 4 stayed there for 1 night. We were pleased with the quality service and comfortable rooms. The hotel and the rooms are well maintained and decorated. The 2 single beds on the mezzanine in addition to the double bed gave ample space for our whole family.||Quality breakfast in a nice dining room.||The castle has a very pleasant garden to stroll through, with a tea house and small exhibition about butterflies and insects.

I am almost reluctant to give away this secret, but Chateau Colbert is a hidden gem and deserves praise! From the moment we drove through the gate and saw the whimsical bronze on the lawn with the beautiful symmetry of the classical architecture of the chateau behind, the cloak of tranquility and elegance descended on our shoulders. We were greeted warmly, and shown round the lovingly restored terraces, with its own large Potager - a further delight outside. The rooms on the second floor, though not enormous, have been tastefully restored, with beautiful view of the river. The gracious dining room, (which on a weekday evening was full) made the dining experience a real pleasure. The meal was exceptionally good - Mousse of mussels was a first and to be recommended as well as the crab topped with a rondel of radishes. Sweetbreads in a rich fruity sauce were excellent, and further delights followed.. The food was exquisitely cooked and presented, and is very close to Michelin star quality (without all the pzazz and commercialism which goes with the rating). We can’t wait to return.

Just a step from the Oriental Park, of which he was a part and which he overhangs, is held the XIVth castle drawn by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, architect of Louis XIV, on the orders of Colbert, brother of the Minister. Transformed into luxury hostelry with about twenty rooms of charms richly furnished with ancient furniture and a restaurant Le Stofflet with its gastronomic cooking to be savored in the golds and the splendors, or terrace in the beautiful days. We can offer themselves a good moment of gourma relaxation With the menu in 25 euro, either the menu Soil in 29, or the menu tasting, a card orchestrated by leader's hands. Huitres in spits, an enjoyment in this sublime place and, if you spend the night there, you will have the happiness to live the brilliant féérie of the Japanese Park. It is a formula stage in an exceptional frameto be lived at least once!
