Chateau de Beauvois | Best places to stay in the Loire Valley

"A 15th-century tower, 17th-century manor, and cellars carved into the bedrock, make up the stunning Chateau de Beauvois, niched in woodland north of the Loire. It has 36 gorgeously rustic rooms with furnishings varying from pseudo-medieval to Louis XV, and an inventive restaurant, with a grand dining room for winter stays, and a lovely terraced garden in summer. As a special treat, the hotel can organise special dinners for 6 to 12 people in its troglodyte wine cellars, and also puts on wine tastings. Then there are 140 hectares of beautiful, wooded grounds to explore, on foot or by bike. " - Anna Brooke

The venue has some nice touches and ornately and tastefully decorated with chandeliers and furnishings etc. No air conditioning but there are windows in the room which is spacious and functional with stately chairs. Plenty of wardrobe space and had no problem with wi fi. Shower is over the bathtub and a separate toilet. Breakfast buffet was ok but very limited in choices and drink prices sufferable at 13 euros for a small beer and white wine.

This is a lovely hotel. Located out of nowhere. Nice architecture inside and out. Looks old. Room is old. Everything is old and nice. Dinner was ok but portion is extremely small. Breakfast selection is NOT good at all. Not much selection was given.

My expectations were exceeded because I wanted to experience spending a few nights and days in a historic property. My room overlooking a beautiful garden courtyard but with no elevator access. I understand that there is a wing or floor accessible by lift, however I was staying in a castle! Away from the noise of a town or city. The hallways and rooms are beautiful. There was a bit of musty in certain sections, expected from a centuries old property. The dining room was beautiful as was the bar area. I felt the limited staff went above and beyond to make my stay extraordinary.

This chateau is beautiful and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Staying at this hotel was one of the highlights of our trip. The room didn’t have AC, but it felt cool at night with the windows open. They prepared a cot for our little kid and had a small bag of candy for her at our arrival. A nice touch!

Fabulous place for one or two nights. Dog friendly. We are the tasting menu and it was excellent value and delicious. The decor is fabulous. The room (no. 9) shower was too small. Other than that, lovely spot.

Magnificent entrance - beautiful period decor with large chandeliers, furnishings & artwork, superb dining room - bedroom with ensuite & bidet but that’s where the grandeur ends - it’s stale musty odour is what I’m left remembering after a cold shower - the carpets are old & stained the bed lumpy. The food was however well presented. Third floor is yet to be renovated. It’s a work in progress but well worth it - the gardens are lovely full of birdsong. Open some windows please.

The outside looked lovely, butnote, pool not open and walkway notcleared. We were given a lovely room key. That is when it ended. Walk to room was musty ( first floor). When we opened the door, we were surprised, it appeared not to have been ready for guests. Cobwebs from the molding. An inch of dust around perimeter of room on the ripped carpeting. The door to the bedroom, when opened. Was across the foot of bed. Refrigerator was on floor, making it difficult to see prices of the water. The non functioning bidetshowed water stains. The hairdryer died half way through. No reservations available for dinner on second night, requiring the group to buy food in town and bring it back to chateau. It advertised a working bar. N |ot so.. plus side, staff was lovely, tried to help, but lack of resources was evident
