"With the arrival of Italian chef Massimiliano Sena (originally from Sorrento), armed with his impressive CV, this noble and elegant Grand Siècle-style residence has entered a modern culinary era that bodes well. Local and seasonal ingredients take pride of place, and the chef's Italian roots make themselves felt in a delicate and subtle manner. There's no showboating or recourse to culinary techniques just for the sake of it; the confident expertise and harmoniously preserved marriages of flavours allow diners to fully appreciate the slow-cooked egg with its airy chanterelle mousse, or the cod with courgette, raspberry and black garlic. Terrific wine list with over 700 wines. There is a pleasant view of the formal garden and canal from the glass-roofed dining area." - Michelin Inspector

"To say that the Château de Courcelles is old-fashioned would be no criticism at all. While fashions and technology have changed since the 17th century, the core values of hospitality haven’t — and the French country chateau experience is still unrivaled. This one, set on over 25 acres of parkland and gardens less than an hour from Paris, isn’t just grand and picturesque, but has a colorful history as well; Christian Dior entertained guests here, and it’s said that Jean Cocteau designed the central staircase." - Tablet Hotels

Property is remote. There is nothing around it. On property, there is an outdoor pool and a so called Michelin restaurent. See my separate review for restaurent. Property is beautiful and unique and room was rustic and country. Safe was not opening and the engineer had to try 15-20 minutes to open it before we had to leave. Upon check in, the reception was cold and not very welcoming and slow and with an air of arrogance. I had to ask three times for a glass of champagne and a plate of cheese for the room. You would think they would offer you a glass of champagne, being the property in champagne, but think again! Our restaurent experience was not great. We left the dinner basically hungry after paying 275 euro. We went to drive to find somewhere else but there was nothing around open. Closest town is 45 minutes. We did not even bother for breakfast in the morning and left at 8. I brought up the issue w restaurent at reception who called the manager and he offered to take off the plate of cheese of our bill. Really disrespectful. This is not how to treat guests. Definitely not five star and not worth the price they charge for the mediocre arrogant service they provided. 800+ euros for one night and dinner. They had already added the breakfast for 90 euros even though we never went and never asked for it. Oh, they had a welcome piece of ‘cake’ in the room for us, except it was totally inedible and old and had a piece of hair in it.

The setting of the hotel is undeniably beautiful. The surrounding landscape is charming and the park around the property is truly delightful. Unfortunately, the reality of the hotel does not live up to its appearance. The building and rooms are tired and outdated, the outdoor areas are poorly maintained, and the service is far from the level one expects from a Relais & Châteaux property. Upon arrival we sat on the terrace and asked for the drinks menu. It was brought to us but we were never asked if we actually wanted to place an order. In the evening we booked a table at the Michelin restaurant of the hotel, which turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we have ever had. Again we were asked if we would like to take an aperitif on the terrace. After half an hour without any service we went inside. Even there we had to wait another forty five minutes before anyone came to us. Only then were we finally able to order a glass of champagne. When we ordered a bottle of white Burgundy, the sommelier poured the wine for tasting into my husband’s already used champagne glass. We assumed this must have been an accident, but quickly realized it was not when he did exactly the same for me. Such a careless and unacceptable mistake is unthinkable in any serious restaurant, let alone one that claims Michelin recognition. The food itself was equally disappointing. Every course lacked flavor and the fish was undercooked. The dishes showed no finesse and no attention to detail. In the end we did something we had never done before: we left the restaurant in the middle of the menu. This experience left us deeply disappointed. The beautiful location and grounds cannot make up for the outdated facilities, poor service, and the shocking standard of the restaurant. Sadly, this property no longer deserves to carry the Relais & Châteaux name.

We look forward to returning again and only wish we had more time to stay longer!!! We had a wonderful experience at this hotel! From the check-in to the details of the room, pool service with champagne, natural atmosphere with beautiful views, quietness of the grounds and our exceptional dining experience. The team is a group of very experienced and passionate about hospitality, wine, cuisine, etc. We were so delighted to stay here and experience the wonderful cuisine. Thank you to the chef and the team! We will be back!

Service is rude and disorganised. Simple things are missed or not communicated. Food and service in the restaurant is sub par and it’s confusing how Michelin even awarded them a star. Only saving grace is the view. Otherwise spend your money elsewhere. P.S if you want to bike, bring your own. The hotel bikes are fit for purpose.

I had an exceptional holiday. I spent 4 nights here, and enjoyed the restaurant every night. The staff is warm, friendly, professional, and well trained. The property is stunning. The chef and the restaurant make this a required food destination for those who want a memorable culinary experience. This has been one of the most delightful and enjoyable trips I have taken. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff, who made me feel at home from the start.

On a trip to France with my best friends, we decided to go on an excursion from Paris to visit the Champagne region for a night. We happened upon Château de Corcelles, and it was absolutely the best stay of anywhere I’ve ever been. We felt so taken care of in every aspect of our stay, from the warm cider greeting, and tour of the remarkable property, cozy beds with beautifully designed rooms, incredible food (top top top), tour of the champagne cellar and tasting, a special birthday surprise of song and dessert (I was there celebrating my birthday), I cannot say enough about this dream of a place and cannot wait to come back again. Thank you, Clement and Sam and all of the Château de Corcelles staff, your service is comparable to none.

We stopped at this hotel on the way home from the Alps. It was a tremendous find. Delightful well equipped and beautifully decorated bedroom. The hotel grounds are lovely and all the staff excellent. We had a superb dinner accompanied by lovely wine.

Yelp
A very special place in a tiny village in the French countryside. You basically have your run of a 17th c. chateau for however long you stay, which is pretty awesome. Manicured grounds to stroll, rooms in period style, and a great home-base for exploring the many tiny villages and small cities in this beautiful part of France. In fact, you can just drive in and out as you please - no valet and free parking right out front. Staff are very friendly and helpful, but unobtrusive. Meals are an experience - a sort of length and formality not seen in the US, but if you have the time to relax and unplug, it's a beautiful setting. Our room was surprisingly functional though - great Wi-Fi that we were able to use on Zoom calls, nice bathroom, comfortable bed. Quirky property, but we really enjoyed ourselves!

Yelp
This is a very nice chateau 1:30 mnts driving from Paris. The restaurant etoilé is really good with a lot of selection "fish, scallops, beef, fois gras ... etc". The reception gives you the feeling that you're at home which is not really the case in many other places in France. Make sure that the weather is great and spend a whole day here and why not a night in one of the château's beautiful room

Yelp
Lovely tranquil setting. Chateau is quite a small one but still imposing! Similar to a country house but with the thick walks, very French decor and garden. Staff very helpful. We wanted a cup of tea on arrival very British and they were very obliging! They also supplied us with some decent mountain bikes and a map which enabled a 25 km (1 hr 30) ride around the local lanes. Fantastic! Outdoor pool and tennis court left untested since we visited in October. Good food and friendly staff. Would return.
