Château de la Bourdaisière (Montlouis-sur-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Not only is Château de la Bourdaisière a real-life castle, but it’s even owned by a prince, Louis Albert de Broglie, who has taken care to revive the historic monument as a countryside retreat. The 22 rooms and 4 apartments have been royally dressed by Prince de Broglie himself, who has paired original details such as stone walls and beamed ceilings with rich fabrics, antique furnishings, and Marie-Antoinette-style beds. The chateau hotel sits surrounded by a vast 70-hectare park, home to a seasonal outdoor pool, a tennis court, running circuits, a tearoom, and the National Tomato Conservatory, set up by the prince to bring together together 785 varieties of tomato, which are then served in various ways at the open air summer kitchen, the Bar à Tomates®. At night a three-course dinner is served and takes an equally seasonal approach by highlighting produce from the chateau’s own gardens and local suppliers." - Tablet Hotels

Absolute stunner! The chateau is absolute luxury and everything you expect when looking for a castle experience. The property is next level - the gardens are superb, the dahlias are so beautiful and the upkeep on the whole place is top notch. The staff are wonderful - we had wonderful interactions with so many staff, especially Philipe! Everyone was so gracious and ready for a laugh, it made us feel at home. Food options are good (a lot of fresh produce), and Montlouis area is stunning to walk around. This is an incredible experience all round, highly recommend for anyone looking for a castle stay in France - especially because it is close to Patis by train or car.

Magnificent Chateau with a wonderful collection of heritage tomatoes in the gounds. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The restaurant set outside in the grounds was fantastic. A simple set menu with produce from the garden, expertly prepared and served. One, if not the best, chateau we have stayed at. Breakfast was equally superb. Highly recommended

This Chateau is a big hotel. Rooms are traditional and hotel has tried to maintain its aesthetics. Decor and furnisyalso are traditional. Beds and Bathrooms are good. There's nice view everywhere around. You may go for a walk anytime. Lots of parking here and many fruit trees in the parking area.

What a fabulous experience! What a beautiful place to stay. Great that there was a large lift to help with suitcases.|Very friendly host who explained the history of the chateau. |Huge room with large comfortable bed, views from the windows, desk, wardrobe, a separate bathroom with lovely shower, twin basins and heated towel rack.|We had a walk through the grounds and a Quick Look at the exposition currently held there. |We enjoyed a drink overlooking the grounds, and a delicious meal in the dining room at night. Breakfast was continental but fresh and tasty with lovely crusty bread and pastries included. |Just a very special place to spend a night.

We stayed here as part of a tour group. Our room was in the annex which is the adjacent building. The main building is amazing with lots of interesting items (caves, gardens, trails, exhibits, mini Eiffel Tower) on the grounds. Have to say that this was one of the most memorable experiences of our tour. This is not your average hotel, which can be a positive or a negative depending on your expectations. It has some quirks (walk to room through the corridor could take a few minutes) but all in all we loved it. Hard to beat staying on these beautiful grounds. Breakfast was sufficient but wasn’t great. However we really enjoyed the dinner we had there (salmon)

This place has a lot of hit and misses. Great historical building that looks fantastic from the outside and might be quite charming from the inside as well, but it is not so well maintained . Rooms can be okay with some old change, but the bathrooms are in real need of an update. The garden and the forest are amazing, but the place gets almost dead in the evening, with no activity and it feels you are the only guest there. We wanted to try the tomato bar, but it was or completely booked or closed, so it did not work. In general the location is fantastic for a tour of the Loire castles, but it will need a bit more attention to ensure it reaches its full potential.

Nice chateau to stay at. Enjoyed the building itself, lounge rooms, the elevator inside, so did not have to use stairs with the luggage. Breakfast could be better, but still ok. Nice territory to walk around

Came for the castle, stayed for the food and activities on the grounds. Environmental and education activities, art, history. Beautiful!
