Anything to celebrate, even as a "stay-cation", don't look any further and stay at Chateau de la Gaude !
Great green setting, interesting mix of buildings, real luxury accommodation, eye for detail (rare these days!), attentive and friendly service, superb dining venues and amazing collection of contemporary art.....the right mix for succes!
To celebrate my birthday my spouse and I cycled the few kms from Aix en Provence to this beautiful Chateau located in the middle of mother nature.
Welcome was friendly and we were immediately assisted with our saddle bags and safe storage of our bicycles.
The suite we stayed at (thank you for the upgrade) was located in the building overlooking a beautiful garden which also featured an artwork of Bernar Venet.
The facilities of the suite were second to none, including a great marble bathroom with free standing bathtub.
Special touch were the welcome amenities, perfectly presented on a small table in the lounge of the suite!
For dinner we selected the Kaiseki Restaurant, a venue with quite an interesting interior, part of which created by rows of wine barrels, where we enjoyed an exquisite 9 course Japanese menu, served over a period of about 3 hours and enhanced with some great wine from the Chateau's own vineyard.
Breakfast was served in the La Source Restaurant, a warm and cozy venue located right next to a water source. The breakfast offered all one could expect also including some well cooked scrambled eggs and yummy skyr with muesli and dried fruits.
Before our departure we walked through the gardens of the hotel allowing us to admire the amazing contemporary art collection.
Congratulations to the hotel team for ensuring to us such a remarkable and unforgettable stay.....you made us feel special
without going over the top !
Definitely a venue we will return to and highly recommended to those after an exciting luxury experience in the Provence.
