"In the kitchen of this magnificent 18C bastide, chef Matthieu Dupuis-Baumal serves boldly inventive dishes, in which Provençal notes meet subtle Japanese influences. The flavours are clear and always controlled, and each recipe brandishes a confident culinary personality. The setting is magical, complete with a magnificent terrace, and makes for a sumptuous backdrop for this firework display of flavours. The wonderful wine list includes a selection from the château." - Michelin Inspector

Anything to celebrate, even as a "stay-cation", don't look any further and stay at Chateau de la Gaude ! Great green setting, interesting mix of buildings, real luxury accommodation, eye for detail (rare these days!), attentive and friendly service, superb dining venues and amazing collection of contemporary art.....the right mix for succes! To celebrate my birthday my spouse and I cycled the few kms from Aix en Provence to this beautiful Chateau located in the middle of mother nature. Welcome was friendly and we were immediately assisted with our saddle bags and safe storage of our bicycles. The suite we stayed at (thank you for the upgrade) was located in the building overlooking a beautiful garden which also featured an artwork of Bernar Venet. The facilities of the suite were second to none, including a great marble bathroom with free standing bathtub. Special touch were the welcome amenities, perfectly presented on a small table in the lounge of the suite! For dinner we selected the Kaiseki Restaurant, a venue with quite an interesting interior, part of which created by rows of wine barrels, where we enjoyed an exquisite 9 course Japanese menu, served over a period of about 3 hours and enhanced with some great wine from the Chateau's own vineyard. Breakfast was served in the La Source Restaurant, a warm and cozy venue located right next to a water source. The breakfast offered all one could expect also including some well cooked scrambled eggs and yummy skyr with muesli and dried fruits. Before our departure we walked through the gardens of the hotel allowing us to admire the amazing contemporary art collection. Congratulations to the hotel team for ensuring to us such a remarkable and unforgettable stay.....you made us feel special without going over the top ! Definitely a venue we will return to and highly recommended to those after an exciting luxury experience in the Provence.

Don’t be fooled into staying here … our 3 night wedding anniversary was spoilt because the room air conditioning system failed. Check other review channels and you will see this is a common occurrence experienced by guests. The room was unbearably hot with no air circulation. After multiple complaints and their admission they just ignored us. It’s not worth the money, terrible service, no management and it’s most definitely not 5 star. Service outside the restaurants is non-existent and the Manager one worst I have experienced in the industry … they will demand your payments and ensure you have no recourse. It’s an average hotel at best but a real shame as it could be stunning. There are far better luxury hotels in Provence so stay somewhere else … this is not a luxury hotel experience …ruined our anniversary and is hiding from the reality of guest experiences … some of the young staff are lovely but the management is laughable. Stay somewhere else that understands hospitality. It’s not here and will be a very expensive mistake

Absolutely amazing stay! This chateau is like no other – so beautiful, comfy, and private. It feels more like visiting a friend's fancy house than a regular hotel. Even though it's a bit tricky to find, once you get there, it's pure luxury. From the awesome food to top-notch service and cool winery, it's all there. Seriously, you've gotta check this place out, it's a paradise, a total game-changer for a dreamy getaway!!

Had a wonderful long weekend stay back in the fall of 2023. Still remember the breaktakingly beautiful grounds of the Chateau. Straight out of a French impressionist painting.

Most beautiful setting I’ve ever been to. Classy and elegant chateau with modern art twist inside and out. Art was spectacular. It was my birthday, beautiful flowers were waiting in the room and absolutely amazing cake with champagne. We stayed in deluxe room with gorgeous views which is worth an upgrade. The room was large with super comfortable bed. Great size bathroom with make up mirror. Ironing and washing service available on the request which is very handy. Beautiful gardens around the chateau perfect for little walks. Nice size pool which wasn’t overcrowded and spa available. We had wine tasting which was short but perfect just to try local wine without spending all day away. All staff from the hotel, restaurants, pool and cleaning ladies were absolutely amazing. Very friendly, helpful and professional without being snobby and over the top which made perfect atmosphere for a such a beautiful classy place. We had dinner at le art and kaiseki, both tasting menus which are must if you love good food and beautiful spaces even if you not staying at the chateau. 10mins drive away from the centre of Aix makes it perfect location, transport can be arranged by the chateau. Two Michelin keys well deserved. We definitely will be coming back in the future.
