My recent visit to Chateau de Mirwart for a wedding left me utterly disappointed. Despite the venue's idyllic setting and the grandeur of the building, the staff failed to meet even the most basic standards of hospitality.
It is like they deliberately gathered some of the most unhelpful individuals society could offer, like a dysfunctional version of the Avengers. It felt as if we were a burden to them, just by being there. Asking for basic necessities like extra toilet paper, water, or simply requesting help because we had no hot water was always met with sighs. Responses such as "we don't do that, the cleaning staff does" or "we'll help, but not now" are truly disgraceful, especially considering the price we paid. We had booked the Garden Balcony Suite, expecting luxury service commensurate with the higher price, but even the basics were beyond their capabilities. Initially, the rooms seem charming, but upon closer inspection, several issues emerge. The lack of natural light from the small windows creates a dim and potentially unsafe atmosphere, especially alongside the steep spiral staircase. Getting ready in a dark bathroom is also not ideal as a wedding guest. Additionally, cobwebs and dust are everywhere, the minibar is empty, no card for the roomservice, electrical outlets are inconveniently placed,…
The breakfast, which cost an additional 30 euros, was not included in the already steep room price. For that amount, we expected a deluxe breakfast, but it was very basic and the buffet was almost empty at the time we got there. The tables were not set, and they refused to do it on the spot for us, so we were forced to sit outside in the wind. The overall experience was so poor that it seemed like it was their first attempt at hosting breakfast. Nothing was ready despite us having pre-selected a time slot to ensure they had enough time to prepare everything. We found out later that there were à la carte options, but without any explanation or visible menu on the table, we had no way of knowing. Given the cost, the breakfast experience was also extremely disappointing and not worth the money.
The list goes on: We were refused lunch service on a Sunday, despite arriving well within the allotted time. This left us hungry and confined to our room, mix-ups during check-in that made the check-out process equally frustrating, and a significant language barrier regardless of the language we spoke,….
Throughout the entire weekend, frustration was our constant companion, courtesy of the hotel's incompetence. Let’s just say, I wouldn't revisit this place and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
