This is a lovely hotel with excellent food and the staff are without exception, outstanding. The Michelin restaurant was preparing to open on the first of May, so we were enjoying the bistro menu. We came as a large group and had a choice of two starters mains, and desserts every night - with no pre ordering. The restaurant manager controlled everything with eagle eye and a touch of humour. The sommelier (Mehdi - forgive me if I have spelt this incorrectly) was outstandingly knowledgeable and provided us during the course of our week, with variety of very largely local wines. ||One evening our group was invited for champers and canapés before dinner - what a simply lovely touch - this place really is one of a very unique kind. Nothing was too much trouble and we will certainly be going back next year if our group and the hotel agree. So please read my comments below with this in mind. We had a lovely week, and I really hope our group returns next year.||In my view these days there should however be a third and vegetarian choice on any menu. Despite both the leader of our group and the delightful Concierge mentioning this, little was done to provide a veggie dish for my wife that was not either veggie ingredients picked from the meat/fish choices. i.e. vegetables and potatoes, or that we could do at home. One night the main was mainly potatoes. Even the risotto was under the salmon main course. My wife and I too employed Michelin star chefs for many, many, years and perhaps have an idea of what is possible.||The grounds to are lovely and we could see the gardener fighting the weeds and readying things for the season ahead.||We were in room 20 and my only humble suggestion might be a touch more wardrobe space. The bedroom itself as large, airy and could not be faulted for cleanliness. Views over the grounds and a large bathroom with excellent shower and lovely toiletries. Oh, and the bed - super large and sublime duvets and linen. Superb housekeeping.||A venture like this (and why wife and I have done similar) is a continual work in progress and I mention the above in recognition of that, and, wish the owners all the very best as they work and strive to create their very special kind vision, and make it come true. This is one very, very special place.
