Château de Riell

If you expect an authentic French castle you might be disappointed. It used to be a nightclub and has some quite unique designs. Not the traditional French castle I expected. There's also no spa at the Chateau, instead you have to go to the hotel next door. Staff is very friendly though and the area is nice.

We had a great family weekend in this special, extraordinary and excellent hotel and restaurant. The quality and friendlyness of the service, food and facilities were outstanding. Especially the breakfast was a highlight benefitting from the excellent cuisine of the chef.

beautiful surroundings, great service, tasty breakfast and good facilities. the rooms feel old but modern enough. the pools are so nice to relax by and feel on a holiday.

Wonderful location with spectacular views of the Canigo. Lovely rooms and pool. The Olibe restaurant has an outstanding tasting menu. Walking distance of a thermal spa, good walks. Very friendly and helpful service

Amazing, beautiful hotel in a stunning location. The staff were excellent, with special mention to the breakfast waiting staff, who couldn’t do enough to please. This isn’t a 5 star hotel in the true meaning of 5 star, but it doesn’t matter: it’s simply a wonderful, relaxing place to stay.

i didn’t expect this hotel to be so great. everything - from food to cleanliness to service. i was impressed. one of the best services i’ve ever gotten in europe. everyone is so friendly, welcoming, and wanting to help. very clean and cozy rooms. the area is incredible and so fun to explore. recommend this hidden gem. (i only have film photos because i did digital detox)

The chateau is extraordinary. Beautiful location, magical, comfortable room, incredible view. The staff was lovely and helpful. Small details and quirks to make our stay memorable.||||However, we would not eat at the restaurant again. It's more looks than taste - sure, the dishes that come out look beautiful, but the food itself was just okay. More than that, we had awful service - truly it tarnished our experience, unfortunately. Our waitress didn't explain the menu or what to expect, the menu itself (especially the dessert menu) was unclear and when we asked for clarity she pretty much humiliated us in front of the restaurant, raising her voice and shouting at us. Truly it is beyond my comprehension why someone like that would work in the service industry, and it's too bad.

Fantastic stay at Chateau de Riell. The service is top notch and the food is really good. Great wine selection and a 5min walk there's a restaurant from the Michelin guide. Rooms are amazing, upgrade to stay in the big house. Our room had a shower which leaked onto the bathroom floor every time we showered. This was solved by bringing new towels every single time we had a shower. Lots of cats around the beautiful castle. If you tip Marcel who's worked here for 22 years well he might give you a tour down the old catacombs which also acted as a nightclub in the -70s. The garden is amazing and everywhere you hear birds chirping, winds blowing through the trees or water pouring from the "bains thermales". There are two pools, one big by the garden and one on the top floor which I think is a little heated and has an beautiful view of the surroundings. The booked a table for us when we arrived in the small restaurant 5 min away, but it was closed. To compensate the owner served us free cocktails. And since it was our honeymoon they had a complementary bottle of champagne in our room upon our arrival. In the evening they close the shutters and ready your bed. At breakfast they have fresh carrot, mint, mango smoothie. Will definitely come here again.
