Great impression of the castle and impressive. Nice room on top floor. However, floors covered by floor carpets was not expected as me and my wife have asthma and the carpets were dirty. The swimming pool was not cleaned. We enjoyed an 8-course menu in the evening, which was tasty, a bit overpriced. The manager of the restaurant, from Saint-Martin, was very anoying. He pushed us several times to buy very expensive wines and acted very non professional and non friendly. He behaved especially ugly when we were paying the hotel bill next day. He tried to charge us some expencive wines that we had not consumed. He was angry, shouting in the reception in front of us and other guests, almost aggressive . We went there with friends, all of us owners of accommodation businesses and I hope that this message will reach the owner of the castle.

The castle exterior and grounds are lovely and thrilling to walk around. We were excited to see the deer and feed them though we didn't have time to use the pool. The rooms were another story. Ours was dated, unfunctional... no drawers, no washcloths, the toilet area was impossible for privacy to shut the door so you had to shut the hallway... it was uncomfortable and not a four-star or even three-star experience in the room. We had zero wifi the entire three days and the staff was not helpful when we called or told them at the front desk. Basically, they told us sometimes it doesn't work... used data for over three days. The breakfast as some have mentioned was expensive and for me if you don't eat meat or want bread, it's terrible. So with nothing around the castle to get coffee or food you are stuck with self serve for 25 euros to get coffee. They have an excellent restaurant at night so I'm not sure why they don't put more effort into a better breakfast. We loved the building and the music room and statues and grounds. I bought some food when we were leaving on the shelf in the lobby to take home. Once home i noticed the date was expired and threw it out. That sums up the care they seem to take with this property. For one night passing through it's fun to stay at a castle but for an extended stay it's not comfortable enough or a nice enough experience to recommend.

Modern luxury in a building steeped in history. A five star restaurant with excellent food served by a delightful (and efficient) staff. And an excellent wine list to suit all pockets and tastes. So good that we allowed the maitre d'hotel to choose our wine for us - and he was spot on.|Superb bedrooms with probably the best cleaning team we've ever encountered. |And a brilliant location with views across miles of vineyards to the distant hills.

A beautiful Castle with very nice staff, however can do much better with the decoration and the lights in the rooms. The the pool area and the parc have a great potential but we found it very neglected. ||||Food wise, although at night we had a very refined diner with great service, the breakfast was terrible : bad service, average quality (i even find hair in the scramble eggs), fruit salad really not appetizing, with cheap paper napkins and placemats, not a relais et château type of breakfast.

This was the most disappointing part of my three week tour in Provence. My Husband and I arrived here with certain expectations as we were extremely enticed by the photos loaded up on their website. Our stay was supposed to be a three night stay along with a wine pairing at their most fancy advertised Restaurant. We were told we had been upgraded to a suite and the welcome was rather nonchalant and not what I would have expected. I have gotten a better welcome in a Best Western. The receptionist checked us in, carried our luggage and took us to our room. Once he opened the door, I was immediately appalled to see what they call one of their nicest suites. The rug in the room looked used and abused, full of stains and emanating an old smell. The Duvet had large stains. I refused to sit nor stay in that room that looked like a dirty Motel. The bathroom had no shower and only a bathtub. We were accommodated in another room as we had zero desire to be further insulted. To make matters worse, breakfast was a total disaster. One cook and one server in the entire restaurant. We asked for coffee and it was serve it yourself style on a table with an attitude by the chef when asked as to why we were not being served. This was certainly not what this place advertises on their website nor what Chateau & Relais stands for. ||We left the same day and cancelled the rest of our stay.||Whatever goes on in that Hotel, it needs to be addressed and reevaluated by Relais & Chateaux.

We were first impressed by the chateau itself: a real one! with a great courtyard, large thick walls, endless corridors and a donjon - though partly in ruines (which ads to the great impression). The disappointment came with the room, supposedly a “superior“ one, but frankly quite ordinary in its size, its amenities and mostly its view… on a parking lot. I mentioned my surprise at the reception where someone seemed genuinely sorry and made a really great discount on the price of the room. I have to mention the incredible meal we had at the restaurant of the chateau. The chef deserves all the praises for his great cuisine. All the staff is very welcoming. So all in all our stay was very memorable and I highly recommend The Chateau de Rochegude. Don’t miss diving into the pool and walking up the hill and into the forrest - surrounded by a high and very long wall - which are entirely part of the propriety. You’ll have glimpses of an amazing view (which some rooms seem to have) and be greeted by friendly deers.

Very pleasant accomodation. Bathroom was a but strange as there was no shower curtain so water everywhere in the morning but that wasn't a problem - st least not mine. Decent breakfast and overall ddecent value for moey. Their restauarant wasn't open on Mndays but they booked me into a very nice restaurant a 5 minute drive away called Le Lievere de Temps which I´ve reviewed separately.

I see all the recent bad reviews and I can't help feeling like it's a bunch of Karen's complaining. The castle is old, so it's French style shabby chic. Every is very clean, good bed and shower. Our dog was allowed everywhere. I do get the sense that they are severely understaffed, also at the restaurant. Food was good, but too expensive for what it was. Would sleep here again, but would go to the restaurant in de village next time.

Yelp
This place is essentially in the middle of nowhere. We were there beginning of May. The pool looked like a fish pond, green and topped with floating algae. The breakfast buffet was poor and no cooked to order anything. It really looked like they had not opened for the season. The room must have been the smallest in the hotel, no desk w chair, and the upholstered chair that was on the room was sun bleached. The bed was full/double not queen, despite being represented as a queen. No air conditioning, although warm already, we weren't late enough in the season to have turned the main air unit on. The shower head was broken and despite numerous requests, they could not get it fixed on the five nights we were there. Oh, did I mention no phone in the room. So anytime we needed anything we had to walk down to the lobby. The only redeeming feature was the staff. Very nice, especially Hosin. You'd be better off staying in a Holiday Inn than this place. How it is a Relais Chateaux property is anyone's guess.

Yelp
This beautiful castle is ridiculously awesome! A true castle from the 12th century!! It is magnificently rich in history, but restored just enough to have your modern amenities in your high ceiling rooms! I felt like a princess :) The family which runs the castle is warm and I spent time with the adorably polite dog (Shun) on property as well! Conveniently located near the Pont du Guard, overlooking the vineyards of Rhone Valley. Wine tasting, truffle hunting,...or just exploring the charming property, you'll be so happy you stopped by this CASTLE! I even spotted a few cute deer in the backyard past the pool. So many surprises. This place is what you really imagine a 12th century castle to be like!

Yelp
Sept. 16-18 2015 Blindsided by $244 euro laundry fee for washing less than a small basket of clothing Our stay was ruined when we were presented with an excessive and unreasonable $244 euro laundry fee for less than a small basket of wash. If you stay here avoid any incidental services to avoid being literally "taken to the cleaners". As for Accommodations, the bathroom was dangerous and dated. The bath was equipped with an unsheltered tub and a tub spray. Using the tub required climbing in and out. Since there was no shower curtain the water sprayed onto the floor creating a slippery surface as you climbed out.

Yelp
Old dilapidated hotel not worth the money. bathrooms do not have showers and tubs do not have curtains so wash your hair before you come to this hotel. Man
