Château des Avenières (Cruseilles, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Midway between Geneva and Annecy, a château rises on the slopes of Mont Salève, looking every bit as grand as a fairy-tale castle. But this landmark is far from medieval — built in the early 20th century at the behest of an American aristocrat, it’s now a luxury hotel known as Château des Avenières. Rooms in the main building are classic in style, with French windows, traditional patterns, and velvet headboards, while suites in the newer addition are more modern with wood-burning fireplaces and chic monochromatic décor." - Tablet Hotels

Everything about our stay was wonderful -- our guest room, our meals, the atmosphere. It was a lovely finale to our vacation in France. Fantine, Marco and the rest of the staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating. They gave us great recommendations for visiting the area as well as for food and wine during our stay. Our room and the common areas of the chateau were impeccably clean and very comfortable. We booked our stay on the recommendation of a friend, and we will pay it forward!

A perfect stop-off in the French Alps. The hotel is nestled on a hillside with views of Mont Blanc in the distance and rolling hills all around the hotel itself. Parking is straightforward, it is outside the hotel if you’re staying in the house, or in a covered garage if you’re staying in a suite. Staff are extremely helpful. The hotel is beautiful throughout. It is small and boutique, with large gardens. There aren’t any facilities nearby, and so guests will need to eat and drink at the hotel itself. Highly recommended if you’re looking for tranquility in a lovely spot.

We had an amazing experience in this beautiful chateau. Within <1 hour driving distance between Geneva, Annecy, Yvoire, and other places it was the perfect location for us. We booked out the room called 'Mary' and it was neat, well designed and the scenery offered was breathtaking. The staff were very helpful and the restaurant experience superb. We loved it.

Loved everything! Beautiful location. Wonderful staff. Excellent cuisine, especially breakfast. If our schedule had permitted it, we would have every stayed longer. Highly recommended.

This stay was a dream come true. The type of places you only see in fantasy movies and TV but you can experience first hand. Our room was incredible and looked out over the alps which was a really nice touch. The food and service were very high quality. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking for an adventure.

This restored property is elegant and has been beautifully restored with just the right amount of modern touches. It's a family owned and operated and the staff is quite good. The views are amazing, with the property itself located at a higher elevation for maximum views of the ALPS on a clear day. We (family of 4) travel in Europe 2 times a year for the last 15 years and this is easily in the top 5 property. The breakfast was perfect, and we also had dinner in the restaurant one night and it was very good….especially the dessert bar.

The location of this 4-star hotel halfway a mountain is unique and peaceful. It's always quiet; never busy! In the early morning and evenings you may see foxes and deer from a distance in the open grass areas nearby. Perfect environment to recover from hectic business life or personal stress. Yet it is very close to major motorways (to Italy & Cote d'Azur), Geneva and Annecy. The views on the surrounding mountains & lake of Annecy are stunning. Staying here is however expensive. Breakfast is average. If you come early, 'everything' is available; if you come late, not....|This experience and these observations apply to a premium priced suite at La Maison des Ecureuils. These suites are more spacious than the standard rooms at the Chateau. They are located 300 metres from the chateau. Depending on the occupancy it's completely quiet or still somewhat noisy, especially when other guests have kids etc. A specific negative experience is that the temperature in the suite was high during our stay, despite the availability of airconditioning. This is however programmed to work only when the temperature at the ceiling of the suite is higher than 23 degrees Celsius! Please consider this when making a booking. It was truly FRUSTRATING to have airconditioning in your suite, that CANNOT BE USED. Especially, as it is scientifically proven that a temperature of 15 - 18 degrees Celsius at night is essential for a good sleep. The quality of our sleep and therefore also our stay was negatively affected because we could not cool the suite at night. Sleeping with open doors at night is NOT a solution: it's not safe, and it invites insects etc. Considering the price per night...., please also consider a new matrass. The matrass in our suite had two, clear dips... which did not feel comfortable.

Not worth the price paid. Room infested with flies, not overly clean. Terrible camp bed for third person in the suite.||Breakfast was fair.||Location and views stunning.||Really could be a wonderful place with more attention to detail, and a pricing structure review

I decided to go there to try the 30 euro daily menu for lunch. Big disappointment when I got there and they first told me they had it and then when I ordered it they told me the chef had decided not to do it that day. Seriously? We had already ordered the house aperitif ($$$$) and kitchens would be closing pretty soon. So we reluctantly ordered 2 mains instead. The mains where very basic and nothing out of the ordinary, but ok. The castle itself may deserve more than one star, but for my restaurant experience it is fairly qualified.
