Enjoyed visiting this interesting chateau where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last few years of his life. Touring this chateau gave insight into his lifestyle and how he spent his time with artifacts, models of his inventions, and interactive installations on the grounds. You could easily spend 3 hours or more here, especially if you have an interest in invention or engineering. Though this chateau is not one of the more extravagant or finely furnished, the site and grounds are charming with a lovely view. We thought the visit was well worth the drive and the walk up the hill to get to the entrance. Parking could be challenging on a crowded day. There is a small lot with free parking and a larger lot with paid parking next to it.

If you are a da Vinci fan, this is one of the places you need to see! The castle is nice too, but the section dedicated to da Vincis' inventions is really awesome. You can see the inventions in the park, in life size, and the gardens are really beautiful.

This is a not-to-be-missed chateau. In addition on the grounds are exhibitions and glorious gardens with everything Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo spent the last three years of his life at this chateau. The history is incredible, the extent of items regarding his life is hugely in-depth. This is a not to be missed experience.

I really liked the house and garden. Especially appreciated that they made duplicates of the work of Leonardo and put it on display in the gardens. It is very small and you are done quickly. But it's nice with a combination of visiting Ambroise. If you buy tickets at the official website it's not that expensive.

This place is expensive and offers little value for your money. It is a shame they are exploiting Da Vinci’s name with such a high price tag. Unless you are a die hard fan of his work,it’s not worth a visit in my opinion. Furthermore, don’t buy the combination pass for the expedition, it’s a waste of time unless you like art made by kids. There is so much more in the area that’s better than this castle that is worth visiting m.

It’s extremely cool that they restored things as they were when Leonardo lived here. The garden also presents interactive models of the master’s projects, quite unique

LÉONARD DE VINCI / CLOS-LUCE (1516-1519) In early 1516 Leonardo accepted Francis I's invitation to settle in France. A note in his diary tells us that Leonardo was still in Rome in August 1516. In the autumn, before the snow fell, he put his decision into effect. Leonardo, accompanied by Melzi and a servant, Battista de Vilanis, followed the road to the Alps and descended into Savoy, taking with him three paintings: the Mona Lisa, Saint Anne and Saint John the Baptist. He notes his passage through the village of Saint-Gervais, from where he undoubtedly contemplated Mont Blanc. The entrance ticket costs €19.5/person. 09.05.2025

It’s very beautiful outside but not so special inside I think. Leonard da Vinci lived there.

Yelp
Wonderful self guided tour of the home of Leonardo Da Vinci. The brochures are explanatory and some of the amazing inventions of this genius are displayed. All we need in this world is a living Leonardo Da Vinci! Nice gift shop, refreshments available, friendly staff, nice gardens. It's quite a hike up a hill from the parking area, and the one way streets are very narrow. I do not recommend trying to drive to the top.

Yelp
The chateau where Leonardo da Vinci spent happy & productive last years of his life. Here his memory shines through the chateau & the gardens, from his bedroom, studios, kitchen & an extensive presentation of his art, inventions & writings. In the garden grounds of particular interest is the unique Pigeon House. And nearby, don't miss the restaurant at the old priory, Auberge du Prieure. This restaurant offers a taste of French Renaissance cuisine set in typical interiors of the period & staff in Renaissance costume. It's an ideal way to end the tour.

Yelp
Great chateau/museum with a lot of history. Unfortunately, the upper (main) floor was closed for renovation when we went, so we missed a lot of good stuff. It would have been nice if they'd discounted it for that reason. Still, if you're in Amboise, you might as well go, because what else are you going to do?

Yelp
The inside: way too busy/too many people. The gardens were amazing though, especially the Da Vinci recreations. Hence my 4star review.
