"Be prepared for a magical setting – a dazzling panoramic view, variations in the landscape below, mountains plunging into the Mediterranean. But this does not eclipse the cuisine of Justin Schmitt! This chef, who is no stranger to working in the finest restaurants, is a dab hand at cooking up modern cuisine with personality, such as octopus roasted with satay, creamy corn and smoked whisky, or John Dory, courgette flowers, prawns and verbena. The desserts are on a par and the view from the terrace is breathtaking!" - Michelin Inspector

"Talk about a veritable cliff-hanger. Built into the rock, atop the medieval cobblestone maze of Eze Village, this uber-romantic castle hotel-restaurant (the Prince of Sweden’s former digs), is a mini-hamlet of 14 rooms in all shapes and sizes, perched some 400-odd meters above the shimmering Mediterranean. With a private balcony (some with Jacuzzis) and fireplace in every room, plus the new sprawling presidential suite–a contemporary-style medley of marble, wood and stone and a private pool–another draw is the recently awarded Michelin-star restaurant, helmed by chef Justin Schmidtt. Expect delectable seafood-themed tasting menus with signature dishes like roast octopus in a creamy corn and smoked whiskey sauce, topped off by a swoon-worthy view. Price: From about $2,702 per night Address: Château Eza, Rue de la Pise, 06360 Èze, France A version of this article originally appeared on Condé Nast Traveller UK." - Lanie Goodman

"After ascending "a very steep hill," guests arrive at this "exceptional boutique hotel" overlooking the Mediterranean Sea—a perfect-scoring location. "Full of charm, authenticity, and class," the property enhances its ambience with individually decorated rooms with canopy beds, stained glass windows, and "breathtaking views"; the wood-paneled Chateau suite has stone walls and a living room with a wood-burning fireplace. Enjoy a Champagne tasting and tapas on the terrace of the Bar Lounge before dinner at the "extremely expensive" Château Eza—"the service and view make it all worthwhile." The staff are "always present at the right moment with precision, knowledge, and genuine kindness."

The Chateau Eza is the type of property you need to stay at to truly understand just how exceptional it is. The location and village is fantastic and magical. The hotel is STUNNING and the entire experience from the welcome drink to the tasting menu is perfection. What really stood out is the staff. Every single person was kind, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. It was one of my favorite stays of this year and cannot wait to go back.

Lovely place for drinks. Staff was very nice. They were not able to accommodate anything vegan for me though. Nice views if you’re on the outer tables. They get busy to be prepared to wait a while for your order to come. Dogs allowed and they brought him a nice water bowl.

Google
Review for the hotel itself: 5 stars - we had a great stay, room was nice, and staff was accommodating. Would definitely recommend staying here Review for the restaurant: 4 stars - we had welcome drinks upon arrival (fun, great view on the terrace), dinner at the restaurant (see below) and drinks one night after dinner. If we were to do it over, we’d just opt for the a la carte menu options versus the chef’s tasting menu. The food was yummy and centered around seafood. However, the service just did not match the rest of the vibe - everyone around us seemed to be constantly waited on, but not us, so that was definitely disappointing. There was a point when we’d finished one course, drinks, and water - no one came by for over 20 minutes. I’m pretty sure we ended up getting the bill before we received the final dessert course. Either way, I’d recommend dining - but don’t bother with the special menu.

This hotel is magnificent. It is a bit of a hike up to the hotel but quaint and lovely every step of the way.||While we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the restaurant is very good but very pricey so be careful. While Michelin star, it was a very limited menu to choose from and again, very costly but I will say the experience eating there was memorable and worth it for us!

Google
The best view in Eza, amazing food and service. Overseeing the entire town, ocean view, all the way to end of the sea. Food was excellent as well, 4 course lunch menu with pea/ green theme. Fresh and amazing cooking. It does get a little cold but they open the cover up and the sun warms you up right away.

Stunning views, great food and service. Our suite was very clean and quiet. A special place to celebrate special occasions. Nice breakfast on our balcony with a view.

Great hotel located in the heart of the Eze town, one of the most beautiful landscapes and sightseeings in the South of France! Had an amazing stay, very romantic place. The quality of the service of the hotel and especially the quality of the Michelin restaurant inside is spectacular.

Google
Choosing this restaurant atop Eze mountain was an inspired decision! We secured a balcony table and were treated to a truly unique setting, enjoying our meal with uninterrupted vistas of the far-off mountains and the stunning Côte d'Azur. It was incredibly tranquil and enjoyable. As expected from a Michelin one-star restaurant, both the food and service were exceptional. Every dish demonstrated remarkable creativity while perfectly enhancing the natural flavors of the ingredients. The experience left our palates feeling light and refreshed, rather than overwhelmed. The single minor point would be the heat. Lunch outdoors in Eze at this time of year can get quite warm. If the restaurant could offer some relief, such as ice or small fans for those on the balcony, it would elevate the comfort level to perfection. Overall, it was a very satisfying and memorable dining experience...

Yelp
We emailed the restaurant in the Chateau Eza in France, well in advance, to get a reservation for lunch, for the date that our cruise ship would arrive in the Monte Carlo port. We got a taxi from the ship port in Monte Carlo to the little village of Eze. We walked up the cobblestone path past many little quaint shops, from street level to the charming village. Our reservation got us an excellent table with a spectacular view of the water and yachts below. We were already in awe because of the view, but the food in the restaurant was amazing, and the service was impeccable. We started our meal with a beautiful amuse-bouche; the detail of the parts was so special, that I was slow to eat it. Our first course was a Beef Tomato from Nice with condiments covered with two colors of creamy stripes, decorated with delicate pieces of the lovage plant. It was excellent. It was accompanied with a tiny mousse tasting like and shaped like a tiny pumpkin. Our main course was a Confit Codfish. It was accompanied by a few cauliflower pieces with kumquat and pistachio. It was lightly covered by butter with clementine and Chartreause liquor. To finish, we had four small Manjari chocolate tarts, two with chocolate cream filling and two with coconut, tapioca. They were arranged in an artistic design on the plate and connected by thin chocolate crispy strips. The final course was arranged on a lovely curved blue ceramic piece. It held six different tiny sweet treats. Every course was beyond our expectations in taste and in presentation. We thoroughly enjoyed and loved our time at the Chateau Eza. It was indeed a very memorable and very special lunch!

Yelp
We stayed at Chateau Eza while we visited Eze Village. The restaurant was amazing: good food, drinks and service. The view alone is worth it. You can sit inside with a great view or sit outside if it's not too windy. Continental breakfast was included in our hotel stay which included the best orange juice, fruit salad that was soaked in mint which was surprisingly and flavorful. For dinner, the Caesar salad had anchovies which is rare to see these days in Caesar salad. Great cocktails: highly recommend gin and roses.

Yelp
You have to come and have anything to drink or eat to enjoy the view ; It is one of the most stunning on the Cotes d'Azur. It was super hot and we just stopped to have drinks and just soak the views and the fresh air on the terrace. The service was impeccable as it should be from a luxury hotel and the price was accordingly high but worth every penny: Don't miss this place !

Yelp
Chef Justin Schmitt is a genius, plain and simple. There is a reason this is rated one of the world's best restaurants! This Michelin-starred establishment is a must, especially if you're staying at the hotel! But make reservations well in advance! This is certainly the best culinary experience of my life, with a meal offering a stunning array of complex flavors in every course! The seafood melded with local ingredients and sophisticated concoctions is as spectacular as the Mediterranean Sea and coastline of Southern France down below you!

J. B.

Yelp
Experience-wise, this place is off the charts, but the food wasn't up to snuff (not in terms of the star, the price point, nor the region (nor country, for that matter)). Loved the concept of the first dish having all sorts of tastes of the sea, but thought it was a bit too saline for me and I've lived in New England my whole life. Conceptually this was a strong start, but nothing else seemed to match that, and was rather a bit soulless. Ironically my rabbit special was very under seasoned, so there was simply some inconsistencies throughout the night. The cheese course was incredible, but I could've simply popped into a store for that. The views are undeniable. Literally stuff of fairy tales.

YJ A.

Yelp
My husband and I thought we would be in for a treat for dinner. However, as soon as tasted the palate cleanser that came with the amuse bouche, we realized we needed to lower our expectations. The palate cleanser was some oily seaweed infusion that literally made us gag. Surprising they chose that flavor and consistency as a palate cleanser. The octopus course, which was salty and had strong South Asian flavors, seemed out of sync with the flavor profile of the rest of the dinner. The 30g caviar supplement, that we spent an extra 300euros on, tasted too fishy. The best part of dinner was our fig dessert. We are confused as to why this retaurant has a Michelin star. Maybe for the view??

Fabian M.

Yelp
Service was good. It offers a wonderful view awhile you enjoy your food, or if you just fancy a good drink.

Dennis Q.

Yelp
Another great 1 star Michelin restaurant in Eze. The food and view are outstanding. We ca,r here right at opening during lunch were seated with no reservation.

Yelp
This is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of restaurant experience. It feels cruel to give it anything but 5 stars because of the breathtaking views and the storybook location buuuuuuuut maybe they rely on that? Because let's face it, it's expensive as heck, and a pain in the tush to get to so I kinda would expect the best of the best service and that was not the case. The meal was delicious and the amuse-bouche, a matcha-dressed escargot, was one of my favorite bites from 2 weeks of French meals. The service was the letdown of the night. With 3 servers they forgot my wine, failed to offer a second glass after we had finished the first, took an hour to bring us our check, I pinky promise I am not making this up, and got frustrated when we finally asked someone (not our server) for the check. These cracks really brought down the whole illusion and sense of magic. If you have all the money and the time I would recommend this in a heartbeat. If you're looking at this to be your one special night, there might be better options.

Yelp
I have been coming to this restaurant almost every year, having my family an apartment in Nice and loving the enchanting views from the restaurant however i never encountered such a rudeness like this year. I was with a friend, we are both wine collectors and I asked (like previous years) the cost of the corkage for one bottle of wine. I was told via email it was €80 without specifying the type of wine (quite expensive but I was prepared to pay). They also sent me their wine list via email with no champagne listed which was quite poor and inflated in price (like every year). When I arrived to the restaurant with my bottle of champagne (a Bollinger Rd aged champagne)I was told by Sebastian Palet, the restaurant manager that the corkage was €210!! Min price for a bottle of champagne. I showed the email but he said "this is my restaurant I do what I want or try to go to the Chevre restaurant and ask or you can cancel the reservation". Actually the Chèvre 2michelin rest below has a better wine list with champagne growers that start at €120. I also asked if I could sit in front of the sea and I was told it was not possible. Zero flexibility. The place is stuck in the past, with ancient marble champagne glasses and cheap glassware (I also brought my own glasses). I enjoyed the cuisine not at the level of previous chef but good. I don't think I will be coming back though I will try the Chèvre below. On another side, the place is very difficult to access, for disable or people with mobility problems. How can the Michelin guide give a star for such a lack of thinking of solutions to improve the access to the restaurant? I went with a girlfriend but my husband has multiple sclerosis and I don't think we will ever able to go back together. I hope this review will be read and allow the restaurant to improve their attitude to customers and of course help other customers to make their decision of restaurant choice.

Yelp
Had set lunch at Chateau Eza in mid October and so lucky to get the table by the window to enjoy the view and coastline of French Riviera. The food was top notch, every dish was beyond expectations both in taste and how amazing it looks.

Kristina K.

Yelp
Amazing place! The view is great and the food was delicious! Absolutely a must see! Service was great too.

Kari D.

Yelp
The ambiance was magical and beyond extraordinary. The food was in the top two meals that I have had in the entire world. The service, wow, the service~ Flawless. Absolute perfection and I will return very soon. Thank you for a remarkable experience.

Yelp
Impeccable service and hands down one of the best views in Eze. Stopped at this beautiful 5-star chateau just to enjoy the view and the champagne. The staff was fantastically attentive, friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our request for shade. The sun on the hilltop was quite hot and a breeze prevented the staff from opening the umbrellas, they apologized but the moment the winds died, they jumped on setting up the umbrellas. Crisp, cold champagne flowed as did the beautiful light appetizers. We had just had brunch so we weren't starving so the chef served us the prettiest feta herb and Parmesan lollipops. Local ham, salmon with Apple on petite toasts. Simply superb and perfect for sipping champagne and enjoying the view. This view area of the hotel is usually reserved for guests only, but one of my cruise-mates asked politely to enjoy champagne on their private balcony and they agreed. Lucky for us, it was truly a spectacular view on an equally wonderful day. Love the cobblestone streets in Eze...a jaunt back in time for sure.

Yelp
We had been to eza on a cruise and I promised that if we ever came to southern France we would have dinner in this quaint agent village. I chose Chateau Eza due to its ideal location and amazing view. Although it did not disappoint, I would rate this a 3.5 if I could. It's definitely not a 4.5 as it's rating would indicate. So let's break it down: Atmosphere 5 stars - no doubt about it. If you go, you must get an outside table overlooking the cap-Ferrat. It was alittle hot so make sure you go after 8pm in the summer. Service 3 stars - it's not that they were not good, they were just very stiff and not personable. They were attentive but I like more personality from my wait staff. They almost seemed fake. Food 3.5 stars - food was probably solid at its high level but frankly the serving sizes were really small even by french standards. In fact, the table behind me was a couple that order a second main course! It was one of the most expensive restaurants we went to and we went to some exceptional places. I had the sole which was very small and boiled not oven basted and my wife had the chicken which was about 1/3 if a breast. Deserts did score high, 4 stars but this is France after all. You are definitely paying for the view however if you want a fantastic view, great food, and exceptional service I would strongly recommend chateau Saint Martin in Vence. Read my review on that one. Wow! Price 3 stars - for the money you will leave hungry and since I have 12 days of french dinners to compare it to in Paris, Provence and the Riviera, that should not be be the case. The chef needs to reassess. Overall this is a 3.5. If it did not have the location, it would not be worth the drive from Nice. Sorry guys.

Yelp
Definitely the best meal I have ever had in my life, and I eat a lot. This is definitely the kind of place that, when people ask you "if you had one meal left on Earth," you don't hesitate about blurting out. Yes, it's expensive. But an experience like this is so worth it. GORGEOUS VIEW You can basically sit on a patio at the top of an old castle overlooking the sea. Look at the pictures, because words honestly cannot describe (and I work as a writer, so that says something). SPECTACULAR FOOD & WINE Once again, the photos can do this a lot more justice than I ever could. Definitely go for their recommended pre-fixed menu. I had the 4-course one and was never happier with a meal in my life. Delicious, beautifully presented, perfectly seasoned. No matter what option you choose. EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE Service fitting of any top restaurant in the world. Waiters are friendly and attentive, and absolutely professional. I was amused by how several servers always come out at once to set your food on your table, so that they can all look at each other and time the reveal (taking off the metal cover) all at the same time. Sort of like a: "BAM, look at this masterpiece -- with an edible flower on top." This place is pretty much heavenly.

Brion C.

Yelp
I have been to Chateau Eza twice in the last 2 weeks and plan to go again next week. It was one of the best meals I have had in the French Riviera in the past 10 years. The food was delicious and the attention corn the staff was even better. Everyone was wonderful to deal with and we're friendly, cheerful and helpful. Go for the prix fixed lunch - it is wonderful. The carrot sorbet is delicious, the duck breast is perfect and all 3 desserts are sublime - I am a chocolate fanatic, so the Black Chocolate was excellent.

Julie K.

Yelp
There's nothing quite like dining in the sky.  One meal at the famed Chateau Eza restaurant in Èze Village and you'll be spoiled for life my loves.  We spent a glorious lunch at the 400-year-old luxury chateau overlooking the French Riviera and left with bellies satiated and our head in the clouds.  Previously the Prince of Sweden'sprivate residence, we seriously felt like we were floating around in his opulent castle after this luxurious meal. The award-winning restaurant features panoramic water views, multiple private terraces, indoor glass-edged dining space, and a gorgeous tea room where the entire restaurant originally evolved from.  Now that's what I call fine dining! ON THE MENU Aside from the a la carte menu, lunch and dinner services include a prix-fixe option from the degustation menu.  Le hubs chose a la carte while I savored the specials of the day from the seasonal menu. Menu du Chateau (Mine) Amuse-bouche Red Mullet fillet "Ratatouille" served in vegetable essence White seabream with fennel, citrus and shellfish cooked in sauvignon Spring Freshness- rhubarb, strawberry, and vanilla  A La Carte Menu (His) Grilled duck Foie Gras, first strawberry, and rhubarb vanilla compote Octopus and steamed Lobster with Aioli sauce, small winter vegetables, shellfish Assorted French pastries Quiet, private and peacefully serene, the air of opulence could definitely intimidate some, but for us (while on our honeymoon, mind you) it was the perfect setting for romance and reverie.   Sitting at the meal, across from my love, with the Mediterranean Sea below us and the gorgeous lush hillside beyond, I swear I had little red hearts dancing from my goo-goo eyes y'all.  Seriously, felt like I was dreaming, the experience was transcendental to say the least.  But I'm often known to get lost in my thoughts and create some drama while I'm at it, lol.

Carolina B.

Yelp
One of the most memorable places to stay in the world! It really is hard to describe. The village of Èze leading up to Château Eza is lined with artists shops, with their paintings and jewelry out on display. You'll have to leave your luggage with the downstairs reception desk and walk up the cobblestone pathway, but it's so enjoyable to take in the view and start enjoying the quiet atmosphere. Parking is at the entrance to the village in an open lot--free overnight, but you gotta pay 9am-7pm. As you check into the hotel, you'll be guided to their restaurant terrace for a welcome drink to enjoy the spectacular view of the French Riviera. Our particular room was amazing! I can't begin to describe how romantic it is here! The bed was fit for royalty, and we had a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with a table for two to enjoy. Our large waterfall shower even had a huge window. There was a separate room with an oversized jacuzzi tub, also with several windows! I think my husband's personal favorite feature was the bidet--totally electronic. Everything done at the push of a button. The seat is constantly warm, and it will put the seat up and down for you. It'll even deodorize and dFresh flowers were presented in our room as a welcome. The staff is very pleasant and ready to help with any questions or concerns. The restaurant itself is an unforgettable place! Make reservations in advance to get a window seat! ;) You start your evening with a cocktail or bottle of wine on the outdoor terrace before being shown to your table inside. It is a quaint and intimate restaurant that seats only about 20 people or so. There is a tasting menu and regular menu. We opted for the tasting menu--it did not disappoint! My personal favorite courses were the ratatouille and dessert! We weren't rushed, enjoyed the sunset through the wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, and didn't feel overly full in the end. The service is outstanding, and accommodates several languages, including (French of course) English, German, Russian and Italian.

Paul C.

Yelp
5 f*cking stars!!!! We were there to enjoy some tattingers on the terrace and the sunset - tasty and gorgeous! The dinner and presentation/ service was precise and delicious (thanks Claire). And the fireworks on the bay after dinner made this the best anniversary dinner ever!!

Meagan P.

Yelp
The Chateau Eza is absolutely breathtaking. We attended the most unbelievable wedding there and everything was absolutely perfect. The food was the best we've ever had and my boyfriend still won't stop talking about how it was as beautiful as it was delicious. The man in charge didn't miss a single beat and the entire staff was friendly and attentive. All of our needs were met with style and a charming smile. The bride and groom were extremely happy with their big day and I couldn't imagine a more beautiful place to begin your lives together.

Biana G.

Yelp
What an amazing experience!! One of the best and most romantic dinners I have ever shared with my boyfriend. We were staying in Nice, France and rented a car to drive all around each day. On our drive back to Nice, we had reservations at Chateau Eza and it was fine dining at its best. We drove up a mountain, parked and walked up a portion of the mountain to reach some of the most stunning views of South of France. Throughout our meal, the server were extremely professional - proper, dressed in suits and ties and eloquently explained each course of our pre-fix dining experience. The staff ensured that our wine glasses were always full and fresh bread was consistently offered. To be honest, the prefix portions were sooo tiny (just a bite size), that we genuinely needed the bread to fill up. Dinner was served on a individual terrace which two couples per terrace. The terrace overlooked gorgeous mountains and the Mediterranean Sea off of a cliff. If I come visit the South of France in the future, I will without a doubt make another reservation to Chateau Eza again!

Deann G.

Yelp
A true experience in this one of a kind Chateau. Service was fantastic & everyone was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was a daily treat with wonderful service. Views were breathtaking & shops on the mountain were quaint. My room was very lovely and clean. I loved my entire time there.

Susan P.

Yelp
My husband visited Eze and Château Eza as a young man and has wanted to bring me here since then. We had a magical trip in the lovely, high service boutique hotel and we also dined in the restaurant. Excellent service is so rare in the hospitality industry and experiencing it is such an amazing treat. Staff are well trained, details are not overlooked. While waiting for check in, for example, we were ushered to a private balcony, served an amazing champagne, mint, lychee and anise along with some nuts, dried bananas. It sure changed your attitude about the check in process with passports etc. our room was both classic Château and state of the art--with high tech shower and automatic toilet. Our balcony view overlooking the cliffs on the right and a sweeping Côte d'Azur center and left. We dined in the restaurant and again the level of service and attention to every detail was superb. This small property's is perched on the side of an elevated cliff overlooking the beautiful Côte d'Azur. We had yellowfin tuna and the lamb entrees. They selected a cheese tray for us as well. Everything was superb. The next morning we had amazing in room massages. It was particularly soothing since I was 14 days past my marathon. Neither my husband nor I have ever had a better massage--the ladies worked through each and every kink without any associated pain in the process. All in all a perfect place for our special anniversary.

Maddie C.

Yelp
Quiet and beautiful. If you're looking for a quaint little private restaurant this is the place for you. You have your pre dinner cocktails on the terrace over looking the cliffs of France. For your meal you're brought into another room that over looks the water depending on where you are seated. Everything was great but portions could of been larger (drinks and meals) for their prices.

Jenny N.

Yelp
The best view in Eze! Even better than the Chevre D'or and delicious food at a better price. I've only been here for lunch and for about 60 euro per person for a set menu, plus that breathtaking view, you really can't beat this restaurant. Desserts are amazing, food is light and full of flavor. I am obsessed with their eggplant bread. Please, please bring back that foie gras brulee amuse bouche you guys had for spring! I went back a few days later just to taste it again and it was replaced by an asparagus veloute. Tip: if you want the absolute best lunch here, book the private room. You pay extra for the breathtaking experience only available in Eze. A private room away from the crowd, private balcony overlooking the sea, and two dining tables that allow you to eat outdoors with the amazing view.

Templar T.

Yelp
A MUST when you come to South of France!!! The view was spectacular and the food was fantastic.

Heather L.

Yelp
Deserving of every one of its recognitions (including a recent placement on Condé Nast's Gold List). L'Occitane products in the bathroom. Duplex standard rooms with cool satin sheets and thick robes and towels. A wonderful one Michelin star restaurant hovering above the Côte d'Azur (we personally think it deserves another). And to top it off, it is located in an ancient village that has never lost its rustic touch. My husband and I love spending most of our traveling budget on a great room and meal... This really is worth every cent.

Wyatt B.

Yelp
Tourist trap that can't make a martini. Ordered a martini VERY SPECIFICALLY. Hendricks, wet with a twist. Waiter asked me what kind of gin I wanted. HENDRICKS I repeated. Ok and do you want a lemon?... YES, TWIST BIOTCH. ok. 20 minutes later he returns with a gin and vermouth and tonic in a rocks glass with a lemon floating in it. What is this I ask. A martini he says. Not a martini. Not Hendricks either but whatever. Not even a good gin and tonic. Waiter acknowledges it isn't at all what I ordered but refuses to exchange it for something else or comp the drink. This place gets all of their business from the views. Too bad they can't back that up with decent service.

Vikram V.

Yelp
Though I didn't stay at the Chateau, our tour guide stopped here and let us roam around the chateau for about an hour. It was essentially like a labyrinth or a maze. Lots of paths and you'd encounter arts and crafts stores, hotels, restaurants, etc. And the views were simply incredible. Judging from some of the photos, there might have been a few areas we didn't go and that just goes to show how vast this area is.

Mr. A.

Yelp
Perfect dishes, wines, view, service here. Reservation is necessary. Especially the stuff here are very friendly and professional.

Harsha J.

Yelp
The location is absolutely spectacular, just wow! Service was excellent however the food was quite disappointing. We went with their full course menu but on hindsight we should have just ordered a la carte. I would like to give Chateau Eza a lower rating due to the food but the setting was just amazing and we were seated at one of the best tables.

Alan K.

Yelp
An aperitif served on an outside terrace with breathtaking views of the sea promised a very enjoyable evening. We went with the tasting menu, which looked generous and creative. A bit surprised when amuse bouche arrived before the water, which we ordered right away. The wine list was brick thick, but the sommelier disappointed, distinguishing wines as "strong" and "mild" and consistently pushing towards the pricier selections from the most commercialised regions, despite the many interesting choices in the wine list from less known regions. Disregarding advice for a €400 Chateauneuf-du-pape, I went with a Bandol that a Michelin starred restaurant sommelier once recommended to me and was not disappointed. Unfortunately, I could not chose ingredients for the meals. Crab appetiser was creative and delicious, the fish was fresh (albeit a bit undercooked) but spoiled by somewhat stinky seaweeds that topped it. The main course, veal, was good but underwhelming following a string of interesting appetisers. The real disappointment was a sliced mushroom decorating the plate as the mushroom was all eaten by worms. We mentioned to the waiter, who did not understand the word "worms" at first, but then exclaimed: "Oh, animals!". "Yes, animals," confirmed my wife as the waiter rushed to the kitchen. Upon return she said: "The Chef apologises". That's' it! The Grade Chef considered it beyond himself to apologise in person or to at least try saving experience by a gesture of sorts. Our upset stomachs the following morning promoted thus cautionary review.

Matthew S.

Yelp
First off, I booked this 3 months in advance because I didn't want to miss out on this place. FYI YOU CAN sit on the patio if you're a non-guest like myself. I'm guessing some people are just ill prepared prior to their visit. So if you're smart and call/plan in advance you shouldn't have an issue. We walked in stated we had reservations and they quickly ushered us to the patio where you can bask in the glorious views and take photos. The staff greets you and asks if you'd like any drinks while you enjoy the view. I had Cristal by the glass (something I've never been offered at other places) We sat watching the sun set sipping our drinks while having some appetizers. I'm not one of those people who breaks down dishes because it's subjective. I know a lot of people like that, but reading dishes and ingredients don't help me. It's not just about the food it's about the overall dining experience. They let us sit for a good hour on the patio not rushing us whatsoever. I love that because, well I'm not one of those people that needs to eat fast and leave. ENJOY yourself people, know that when you come to a place like this it's going to be close to a 3-4 hour dinner. We then were ushered inside where we were seated by the window (another request I made prior to our visit) Sat down and decided to do the entire menu because why not. I like to try it all, and believe me they're not large portions so its something you can do very easily. Food was excellent not a bad thing on the menu, it's up there in one of the top 10 restaurants I've tried ever. I live in NYC and we have plenty of excellent food choices and this beats nearly all of them here in the city. The SERVICE here was bar none THE BEST I've ever experienced. Beating out a few 3 star Michelin restaurants I've eaten at. They were also entertaining and funny, very nice and warm staff. For those who don't speak French, don't worry they have an English menu and yes, they speak English. Wine list is amazing and well diverse. They have some very affordable options as well. Please know this can be an expensive meal, but I recommend this being a splurge type meal. My bill was close to $700 for two people, but that's mainly because I buy higher then average wine/champagne. You can do better then I did, but it was our honeymoon so I wanted to go above and beyond. Oh and ladies, heels are probably not a good idea to wear since you have to walk up an old hill top town to get here. But don't worry your significant other can hold them for you. It's a very romantic walk. Enjoy and take it all in. Life is short.

Yelp
Chateau Eza is stunning, the views are spectacular. It's very romantic, the staff is knowledgeable and very nice. The food was amazing, I'd have everything on there menu. I absolutely love the desserts. I highly recommend!

Yelp
We were visiting Eze and found this amazing restaurant. The view, food, and the service were impeccable. Make sure to wear something nice or you will be under dressed the whole time. I wasn't planning to go to a nice restaurant like this when I left the hotel room that morning. Eze is worth visiting if you are in Nice and so is this great restaurant.

Yelp
What an absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking location. I loved every minute of visiting this spot. The views, the winding little paved streets, the shops, the people. We took beautiful photos, did a little shopping and even got lucky enough to get a tour of the chateau rooms and they were gorgeous. If only we could spare the close to €1000 a night charge. Also, got to watch a wedding party taking place in the chateau gardens, which was quite nice. If you are in this area it is definitely worth the drive. Oh! That was also pretty awesome.... The drive to get there!!! Beautiful little seaside towns.

Yelp
Forget the food there's nothing wrong with it, in fact it's pretty good albeit expensive but, the reason you should go to Chateau Eza is quite simply that it has one of the very best locations anywhere in Europe. Perched on a ridiculously high, sheer cliff-face overlooking Cap Ferrat and the Riviera coast, the views from the restaurant's terrace and from its inside tables next to its panoramic windows is just amazing. Eating here, or staying in one of the hotel's small but excellent sea view rooms, isn't really a question of price (although what you get for your money is perfectly acceptable in terms of similar upmarket hotels in the area) but all about the experience. Unforgettable

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this restaurant! My boyfriend and I traveled through France for ten days, and we are absolutely amazing food every day-- this was my FAVORITE restaurant of the whole trip. The view is unprecedented and the food is outstanding.

Yelp
Stunning views!! We stopped here for a drink on the terrace after climbing to the top of Eze Village and taking a garden tour. Totally worth stopping by if you are looking for gorgeous views and great service. Did not dine here but the food looked exceptional.

Yelp
Most beautiful view we have had in the French Riviera. Ladies.. do not wear heels. Quite a walk to restaurant but 100 % worth it. Awsome service and incredible food.

Yelp
I'd say it's 3.5 We ordered the 'prince' menu, for 60 some euros. We were really happy with the appetizers. But as the lunch went on, we felt the quality of the food declined a bit. The main dish with fish and Spanish rice was nice but underwhelming. Overall food was good but not spectacular. Price is on the higher end but probably paying for the view also.

Yelp
There is much to love about this hotel including the whimsy of the statuary, the fabulous flora and fauna and the beyond fabulous views. We loved sitting on our terrace as twilight came....but I am reviewing two of the restaurants, both of which were very disappointing. The grand dame had a parade of amuses of which only the foie gras mousse ball was distinguished. Lots of highly trained, cool staff who hurriedly identify what you are eating, too hurriedly. The cuisine, simply stated , was neither special or tasty. However it was a star compared to the exceeding disappointing Italian restaurant, Stagione. Our pasta courses were too salty to consume. The Vitelli tonnato arrived w. veal slices on a bed of lettuce and topped w 3 globs of sauce that lacked tuna flavor. I could go on but certainly you are getting the idea.

Yelp
Easily, simply, absolutely the finest dining experience I have ever had in my life. For foodies that like to pretend there is such thing as a budget, lunches offer the same chef's tasting menus and a much more agreeable price. They have two tasting options, plus the entire a la carte menu. Service is unparalleled - and surprising in the midst of the tourist experience that is Eze. We were nearer La Turbie, staying at Domaine Pins Paul, away from the crowds. When we ventured to old Eze, we weren't surprised by the gobs of tourists. What was surprising was how elegant, calm, and inviting the Chateau Eza restaurant was. Unwittingly, we had shown up at the precise end of lunch service - something we would never, EVER voluntarily do. The hostess whisked away for a moment, then happily sat us, without a tinge of "we should get off soon". I have a feeling, at this level, this is purely about service, and they don't suffer the same American entitlement when it comes to service industry employees. We were sat along the window, and the view is even more spectacular than the pictures relate. We started with a bubbly rose, served in the most beautiful pewter flutes, with a lovely angel base. It was far from gaudy, and beautifully crafted... a brilliant start to a once in a lifetime meal. We got the "Menu du Prince", which consisted of the following: Veloute savoureux aux premieres asperges blanches perle a l'huile vierge, moelleux de champignons et petales de fleurs de ciboulette... a mushroom, asparagus, creamy salad. It was simply divine. This came after a few amuse bouche that were small, creative bites that were just smashing - small and creative salmon and avocado bites that seemed like art. Then polenta moelleuse et legerement frite, petits pois et sa crevette caramote - a soft polenta with lightly fried peas and shrimp caramote. Just superb. Rumsteck d'agneau marine, puis roti au four, velours aux herbes, jus a l'infusion de menthe du maroc - rump of lamb with moroccan mint sauce Lles premieieres fraises de la creme mascarpone a la pistache, fraicheur au basilic - First strawberries of the season with a pistachio mascarpone creme fresh with basil. Every single bite from every single course was transcendent, and an experience. We made wild eyes with every bite, passionately exploring the experience. It was divine, rare, and something I wish I could share, or give justice to via an online review. I feel bad that I can't relate our whole experience, or remember it perfectly. This is a place to go to treat yourself, so you can go home and remember your trip forever, just by closing your eyes and thinking about the views and bites. It's superb, and we cannot wait to return... it won't be soon enough!

Yelp
This is a combination of the most breathtaking view on the French Riviera, from Monaco to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, and excellent food, service and atmosphere. It also includes a beautiful walk to the restaurant through the old Eze village. Absolutely gorgeous!

Yelp
I was here years and years ago but I feel compelled to write a review because I had such an amazing experience at this location. It is one of the most breathtaking views you'll see of the area. This hotel sits atop and carved into a giant cliff. The architecture alone is fascinating. The food at Le Chateau Eza is also very delicious - got to try the hibiscus sorbet.

Yelp
We came here when we were visiting Eze. The view of the restaurant is amazing, but recommend making reservations as the good tables will be booked. The service here was pretty great, but unfortunately I was not impressed with their food. We tried their 4 course meal. The food was good, but not worth the price in my opinion. I would come back next time to grab a drink and enjoy the view instead.

Yelp
Had the most lavish, incredible lunch of my life at the Chateau Eza back in July. Ordered the three-course option and a lovely glass of wine recommended by the sommelier. The food was impeccably made, perfectly presented, and delicious. My absolute favorite part of the meal was the optional cheese course... The fromager arrived with a cart full of lovely cheeses and jellies. He let me try out my French with him as we talked through the different cheeses, sampled pretty much all of them, and put together my perfect cheese plate. Was an unforgettable experience well worth the money (40 euros). And of course the view. THE VIEW. If you go just to have a peek at the view you'll end up staying for lunch, or at least une verre. Trust me.
