Château Haut-Bailly

Our visit to Château Haut-Bailly was a sublime blend of elegance, discovery, and heartfelt hospitality, made unforgettable by our wonderfully engaging host, Agnès. From the moment we stepped into the estate, we were captivated by the stunning architecture and the incredible chai—a space that seamlessly marries tradition with modernity, echoing the soul of Haut-Bailly’s wines. Agnès guided us with warmth and insight, turning our two and a half hours into a rich, immersive experience that felt both intimate and inspiring. The wines were exceptional, each glass revealing layers of finesse and depth that lingered long after the last sip. It was a visit that left us deeply impressed and genuinely moved.

A beautiful drive out into the Bordeaux countryside brings you to steps of this lovely vineyard with a classic Chateaux and gorgeous surrounding fields. We stopped in without an appointment and were easily and kindly accommodated for a wine tasting, which was a mere €20 for two pours of rich, fragrant wine. Our host for the tasting was quite knowledgeable about the vineyard’s history and wine. We were so lucky to be there during the harvest and had a chance to see the sorting of the grapes and then inside their new, modern facility where the wine aged. Highly recommend a visit to this chateau and this region of Bordeaux. Stunning all around.

Amazing place and the wine is just fabulous, but the wine tasting tour is just mediocre compared to other places. No passion and some questions remained unanswered.

1/3/2018 They were so nice to welcome us for lunch even if we were on a tight schedule. It is a gorgeous place. The private table is very exclusive in fact. There's just two different dining room, a small one and a bigger one for small groups. The resident chef has built the menu to pair with the wines but in an unusual and daring way. The decadent reds were paired with decadent fishes dishes and very delicate courses. Even the dessert has the same shape as a sculture just outside the Castle. It was a memorable moment.

Sensational Grand Cru! Had a lovely visit with Agnes, who showed us around the beautiful modern winery. Cannot recommend this place enough!

What na absolutely fantastic vineyard! Family, story, production, integrity - everything at the top level! Had the loveliest afternoon here on a private tour with one of the wine makers in training. Met the man running the cellar, learned all about their new facility and process. Extremely impressed and was so touched by this house. We’ve had their wine for years and now it’s that much more special to enjoy it each time. Also ordered several cases back to New York for ourselves.

Amazing wine and winery. Buildings are magnificent and the visit was a must to do with a very knowledgeable and professional young lady. We have learned a lot and discovered their traditions that they are able to modernize while respecting the product and the environment. I recommend to come visit this winery in Bordeaux area!

2010 Haut Bailly. Bought a case in auction from Ackers. Impeccable. Soft tannins and supple. Long finish. Wonder if it will age well? Look forward to visiting you in June 14, 2021 subject to getting vaccinated. 🥺
