Labors of Love in the French Countryside

"The wine-rich Dordogne countryside is the setting for the Château La Thuilière, a 19th-century Tudor-style manor house carefully overseen by owners Stefan and Laila. The house’s immediate surroundings are appropriately bucolic, and the interiors present a richly textured fantasy world in the public spaces, and a calmer, more restrained elegance in the five unique rooms and suites." - Mark Fedeli

A brilliant one night pitstop on the way north from Auch towards Caen. Super comfortable rooms (genuinely top class and plenty big enough, worth trading up for serious value). A brilliant host in Stephan, who understands the value of a proper welcome. And then he can really cook, a remarkable achievement considering he was also bringing the plates to the table. An excellent dinner with other guests who we hadn't met before and a 10/10 breakfast the next morning. Highly recommended.

Amazing/friendly host. Convenient to fast trains/Bordeaux. Beautiful views from your balcony. Dinner also was amazing which he hosts one day a week!

I am not one to write reviews and this one is long overdue. ||My wife, daughter and I stayed at Chateau La Thuiliere 4 months ago (late August) for only one night. And while I would have forgotten about any other place by now, this one keeps popping up in my head! ||The owners, Stephan and Leila, call this wonderful, stylish, quiet, magical place a "guesthouse". On the one hand, it does not do the Chateau justice because it is much more than that. On the other hand, it expresses who is in the center of attention here: the guest! From the second we entered we felt much more like we were invited at a friends' place than staying in a "hotel". ||The Chateau is beautifully situated in a big park overlooking the surrounding area. Rooms (I think there are 7?) are phenomenal and definitely 5 star standard. The chateau's interior is a very high end mix of classic and modern elements with a lot of attention to detail. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and we loved the fact that you had the option to enjoy it on a large table with other guests. ||Overall, Chateau La Thuiliere is a true gem and we highly recommend it - we will be back for sure!!||Markus & family

Amazing location. Our hosts Leila and Stefan were delightful. Stefan enthusiasm and good mood are communicative. He cooked us a wonderful dinner from locally sourced product and I the best chocolate fondant ever. Also to mention: his English is perfect. High quality at a reasonable price, my wife and I thoroughly recommend Château la Thuilière

If you are lucky enough to be able to stay with lovely friends who own a beautiful chateau, then you are very blessed. For the rest of us, the next best thing is to stay with Stephane and Leila at Chateau La Thuiliere. They are really amazing hosts. The gardens are lovely to relax in and are surrounded by forest (that amazingly has some Giant Sequoia trees!). We sat outside having some champagne, bread and superb cheese accompanied by the owners friendly cat and dog (we loved this as we were missing our own pets back at home). I would strongly recommend booking for dinner. The food is home made and really good. Dinner guests sit at a large dining table in a beautiful dining room. By the end of the night you will have made some new friends and had some fantastic conversation. It was more like being at a dinner party than a restaurant. So, if you love to chill out in a chateau, meet new people and be treated as a friend then do not hesitate to book. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a lovely experience.

I don't know how they do it, but Stephane and Layla make every guest feel like family in the best sense of the word. The chateau and grounds are gorgeous, the rooms spacious and inviting, and the food absolutely superb. But what makes this guest house truly stand out are the warm welcome and friendliness of the hosts. Stephane and Layla spent time getting to know us, inviting us into their lives, and making sure our experience in their lovely part of France was truly spectacular. Thank you both so much for sharing your home and for taking such good care of us!

We had a wonderful time staying at Château La Thuilière which is stunning and beautifully decorated with a lot of historical preserved original elements / decor dating back to the 18th century.||||Once there, you drive up and see this fabulous guest house at the top of the hill surrounded by a wonderful park. The location is outstanding and a little oasis. A perfect place to settle down and enjoy the beautiful surrounding. The rooms are beautifully appointed and staying at the Chateau makes you travel back in time. ||||Eating at the Chateau is a social experience. Dinner is held in the main dining room and all of the guests are seated at one large table. There is also an outstanding living room to relax with a drink from the honesty bar or play one of the many board-games available. ||||Breakfast is served at the beautiful old Château’s kitchen at the basement with a “industrial” look. It's a lovely way to make things feel more homely and encourages guests to speak to each other.||||The owners Stephan and Leila are outstanding hosts. We felt so warmly welcomed and cared throughout our stay. Both were wonderful and so personable, felt like we were guests of the owners themselves. They always up for a chat and have been very helpful for tips on what to do in the area (and there is a lot to do). There is also a little chateau dog and the cat, making this place feel even more like Home. ||||Absolutely perfect in every sense, service and hospitality were 5*.||||We are so grateful for the experience and thank you for a fantastic evenings - we will definitely be back.||||PS: hope Leila is feeling a little better after her teeth surgery.

Wow, wow, wow!!! This was a dreamy stay. Everything was perfect. The Château is privately owned by Stephan and Leila. It has only 7 rooms so you never feel too crowded. It is surrounded by beautiful landscape, and has a gorgeous pool area (that sadly due to weather we didn't try). Dinner was incredibly delicious, served in a beautiful dining room, hand made by owners. Don't even get me started on the amazing breakfast... my mouth waters just thinking about it again. Stephane and Leila were the perfect hosts- very nice and accommodating, thank you! I am already planning my next visit, it was THAT good.
