This was the first of four chateaus we visited during our six-day stay in Bordeaux, and we weren’t quite sure what to expect. We were warmly greeted by our tour guide, Nina, a delightful young lady; and, as we were the only guests at that time, we received a wonderful, personalized Classic tour of the winery.
From the beautiful entrance, with its informative posters and intricate model ship displays, to the fermentation, blending and aging rooms, we were fascinated by it all. Nina was informative every step of the way, explaining in detail what we were seeing, along with weaving in the history of Château Malartic-Lagravière. The cellar with its many bottles from different years was sooooo tempting, we wanted a bottle of each!! The vineyards right outside the door were just idyllic and picture perfect!
Finishing with a tasting convinced us to purchase a bottle of their 2018 Château Malartic-Lagravière…with absolutely no pressure to buy. We are looking forward to enjoying it on a special family celebration.
For us, this was a wonderful introduction to every step involved in making a fine bottle of wine!
