Royal Château of Blois

Beautiful castle with 4 architectural styles lived in by 7 French Kings. Definitely go for the guided visit if you could understand French, Marion was very interesting and we enjoyed our visit with her very much. Learnt something new each time we visited with a qualified guide. The Musée des Beaux-Arts, chapel and terraces were not included in the guided tour, so do visit on your own before or after. You get a nice view of Blois from the terrace. I have visited many castles in the Loire 30 years ago and it was nice to revisit a few this trip.

Beautiful Château with a long history going through different Kings and different Architecture style as well. They have a light show in the night which explain a long history -> amazing experince to listen and understand more about that😉

We got the castle and light show combo for €22. The light show tells the history of the castle and is really impressive. The castle is bigger than it looks—it took us about 3 hours to explore. Very elegant inside, with beautiful furniture.

One of my favourite places in Loire Valley. So much history, so much to see inside and not busy at all. 4 different eras of buildings and super easy to navigate! Plus Blois is such a beautiful beautiful town!

The light and sound show was spectacular - wish I hadn't declined the English translation service as no idea what they were talking about. The night time experience was also very good. Recommend but take up the free translation

Was the best Château we visited in France on our trip so far and a dont miss in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the visit to this chateau,with its beautiful architecture and decorations. It also was well displayed and explained on information plates, plus the audio guides were a great help.

Very interesting and informative, but not as beautiful as other chateaux. Worth a visit overall

Le Château Royal de Blois is an excellent example of a Val de Loire Chateau. The guided tour was slightly long, but I enjoyed getting to know more about the chateau's history and architecture. As an added plus "period" musical performers and actor provided an diversion from the tour in the main courtyard.

Blois is beautiful as is this castle but sadly 1/2 seemed to be closed off :( I am sure once it is fully open it is great, I think they were changing an exhibit... still had to pay full price. But it was the perfect thing to do in between our visit to the Magic Museum across the courtyard. (The museum closes for an hour and a half in the middle of the day just as an FYI) the castle did not have the closing restriction.

A beautiful chateau, situated in an elevated position above the otherwise unremarkable town of Blois. The chateau is interesting as the forecourt comprises different architectural styles thanks to a prolonged building process. The best bit is definitely the Renaissance part though with its beautiful staircase. The rooms inside have been restored and are dazzling with the bright colours and lavish use of gold paint that made them stand out during the sixteenth century. The best bit is probably the room popularly supposed to have been that of Catherine dei Medici, which has loads of hidden cupboards. It is said that she hid her Italian poisons in there but it is more likely to have housed her perfume collection! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Loire area, although the town itself is a bit boring!
