The 38 Best Restaurants in Sydney, Australia - Eater

"Diners regularly head to Harris Park (Little India) for roti, naan, dosa, and the consistently crowded Chatkazz, which offers a fully vegetarian menu that’s epic in scope. There are multiple versions of vada pav (aka the Mumbai burger), various examples of Schezwan food (Chinese-influenced staples such as fried rice), South Indian uttapam pancakes worth stacking, and spiced drinks (like the creamy masala chaas, thick with buttermilk)." - Lee Tran Lam

The food is flavoursome, cooked well and right size serving. The service was great! The team were very helpful in explaining what some of the menu items were and ensured that there was no onion, garlic and coriander in our food. Loved every minute of our experience and thoroughly enjoyed our Indian feast. Highly recommend!

Sweet Time

Google
Hands down the best vegetarian Indian restaurant in Sydney. I’m not usually a big fan of Indian food, but I genuinely loved every dish here. The flavors were rich without being overwhelming, and everything tasted fresh and well balanced. I’d definitely come back whenever I’m craving Indian curry.

Google
great food, a wide selection of vegetarian food, really loved all sorts of Naan and bread. Especially loved the C1 Pani Puri and F1 Panner Tikka Masala. Will definitely come back with friends.

Khyati was fabulous as a waitress. I asked her for recommendations and allowed her to surprise me based on my mood. She did not disappoint. She was confident, knew the menu, and chose two dished that were as I hoped for: filling, refreshing yet comforting, and good for one person. I love this place. It has such a lively busy atmosphere and the quality is great.

Google
Absolutely amazing food and service!! This was our first time and we didn’t know to order, a lovely staff called Devanshi recommended us some great choices. Their naan bread is a must try, I’ve never had any naan as good as this one before, will definitely come back!

If you are craving good South Indian food then definitely give this restaurant a try. The food tasted amazing. Try masala dosa, rava dosa, bhel puri chaat, mint margarita and cholay baturay. My kids loved the paneer curry and lacha parathas. Considering the number of people waiting outside the wait wasn’t a lot and it was a very quick service.

Yelp
We had a great time at Chatkaaz. The food was full of flavour and the service was quick and friendly. Ambience wasn't the greatest but food made up for it. I had the masala chai and it was so good I forgot to take a photo. Easily one of the best I've had in a long time. We also ordered the veg manchurian and the schezwan sizzler. Both dishes were tasty and came out hot and fresh. The sizzler had a nice spicy kick and lots of flavour. For drinks we tried the salted lassi and the mango lassi. Both were amazing and super refreshing.

Yelp
The restaurant specialises in Indian street food, from chapatta chat, south Indian, chatkazz de parathe, pizza, Mumbai roadside specials and Bombay Chinese dishes. I forgot what dishes we purchased that night, but overall the quality was delicious! The sweetness in the dishes were tastefully done right. The texture of the curry was creamy and had so much flavour and fullness to the taste. I really appreciate fresh watermelon juice and the juice I got was perfect... Yelp
Go here! If you haven't tried Indian snack food...Or you're like me, and can't enough places offering Indian Chaat...or if you just want some tasty filling food then chatkazz is for you! They have 2 different kinds of menus. One is with descriptions and the other just has names. But both have pictures! It was tough deciding what to order but we managed to get a good variety. Some of the best dishes that I'd recommend would be: samosa chat, pav bhaji, pani Puri. These were delicious and hit the spot. The spice level was just right, you could taste the spice but it wasn't overwhelming. The chai was also hot and delicious. Food came out hot and fresh. Service was good and attentive (we came mid-afternoon on a Thursday so it wasn't overly crowded). Unfortunately no real parking spots in their lot, you need to try and find some on the street.

Yelp
Very popular place and unfortunately small restaurant,it's squishy in there! Service and food came out quick Tried various dishes including pain puri, dosa platter, another dish with fuffed up bread and chick pea curry, mango lassi and gulab Jub Everything was nice, the mango lassi was one of the best I've had! The unknown named dish was, despite its simplistic nature, very tasty I don't know what I'm eating really but the place was packed to the rafters Enjoyed my experience here but wish it wasn't so squishy

Yelp
If you haven't been here I don't know what you're waiting for. This place is just. WOW! It's across the road from Harris Park train station so there's no reason not to jump off and have some wonderful Indian street food. So as we came across it we didn't realise that it was vegetarian. It wasn't until we'd sat down and ordered that we noticed that their delivery truck out the front had 100% vegetarian written on the front. We didn't let this dissuade us though. And as we waited for our food a line formed. They cordoned off some of the car park for the line to start snaking as it grew. This place is pumping and is obviously really popular among the locals and non-locals alike. The plates you get are great. Think of Spanish tapas but then replace it with Indian street food and you're getting the gist. Between the 4 of us we ordered about 5 plates at average about $5-6 each. The food that came out totally blew my taste buds away. UTTERLY. I can't express how much I enjoyed this food. I really can't. You need to go and order all the things. Take people, sharing means you get to taste more plates. The down side is that this place also doesn't serve alcohol, nor does it allow BYO. It's mocktails and soda's only (as well as waters, etc). But I honestly can't stress that you need to visit this place enough. We had no idea what we were ordering, we just picked stuff we liked the look of and we didn't have a "bad" dish. And between 4 people it was the cheapest dine out ever. If you're ever out this way add this to your list of "must impress my taste buds" eateries.

Yelp
I am shocked that no one has ever reviewed this place. To start with, you know a place serves gooood foood when you see a buzzing crowd around. Yes we Indians love our Chats! read yummy light or sometimes very filling snacks with delicious mix of hot, sweet, sour and everything in between tastes. Regulars who know their chaat, all you need to know is these guys know how to make their chat. Yes it is a lot like back home in India. I tried Dabeli and Bhel Puri. Both were super yumm. I am just thrilled that they have a hugeee menu and I am gonna try to taste them all over the time! I must mention that most dishes are priced very reasonably priced well under $10! Must try I say.

Yelp
One of the best Indian foods you can find in town. Conveniently located. Great atmosphere for having a good Indian meal. Offers great value for money for all of their options. They should seriously consider expanding the seating areas as we had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seated at a table because the place were quite packed with guests. Will definitely go back again for more. Highly recommended.

Yelp
First visit to Little India and Chatkazz and I am in love. I am generally a hard core carnivore, but I am seriously considering a vegetarian conversion if this is what vegetarian food is meant to taste like. I would love to give you a blow by blow, dish by dish description however I didn't do the ordering. I can however recommend the paneer masala and the pilaf...and the naan bread was to die for too. We got here early thankfully, as the line was out the door by 7.15pm. Best Indian food in Australia.

Yelp
Amazing food. Oh my god. Best Indian food I have had outside of India!! We had pani puri, samosa chaat and jini dosa...and couldnt have eaten anything else if we tried!! All for $30! Best, authentic flavours and best value. Come hungry. But expect to wait if you come after 6:30pm. Its worth the wait though.

Yelp
This has got to be the most popular Indian restaurant in Harris Park with Indians and non-Indians alike (and that's saying something, there's over 20 Indian restaurants within 500m of this place). Why's it so popular? Because the food here is amazing, that's why. And cheap. Most menu items are around the $10 mark, which means you can try a lot of new things and walk out stuffed for not a lot of money. Every dish here is vegetarian, but don't let that put you off, all of what I tried here was so tasty I didn't lament the lack of meat at all (and I'm a big meat eater too). Be warned though, you won't find your normal suburban Aussie Indian restaurant dishes here, this stuff is the real deal, as evidenced by the amount of Indians eating here. They also have a small sweet shop a few doors down opposite Harris Park train station, can't comment on this though but seemed popular with local Indians when I walked past.

Yelp
This place has some interesting Indian dishes (streetfood) that i've never heard of before so it was a different experience compared to most standard indian restaurants! I am not a big fan of indian food myself but i thoroughly enjoyed this dosa (picture provided) and my friend thought the pani purri was really authetic and tasty! So give it a try if you are looking for something different!

Yelp
Great authentic Indian food and great service. It's good to check if it's possible to make reservations because the place is very popular and waiting for a table can take up to one hour.
