Bars on H Street and Capitol Hill Report Smashed Windows, Stolen Alcohol - Eater DC

"Chat’s Liquor lost just a few bottles of single-malt scotch. Chat’s Liquors is also looking on the bright side, despite this week’s setback. Owner Burnie Williams says Barracks Row went through another series of break-ins last year, and he’s fortunate he didn’t lose much. “It’s just a clean-up process now,” he says. Williams plans to circulate photos of the perpetrator on social media to help catch the criminal. The robbery also didn’t result in a lapse of liquor sales. He reports Tito’s Vodka is the No. 1 seller during the pandemic." - Tierney Plumb

This is hands down the best liquor store I've ever visited. The staff's knowledge and selection of unique spirits are exceptional, far beyond the average experience. The owner consistently offers top-notch recommendations tailored to your food pairing and budget. Highly recommended!

I love supporting this establishment. They have a wide range of quality products, including small, local, and black owned brands. They are knowledgeable about their products and have superb service. I am taking one star off because this place has a habit of not opening on time. On multiple occasions I have been left waiting outside because nobody is around at their opening hour. Today, I’m waiting in the heat almost an hour after posted opening. I’m coming from across town to specifically patronize this business, so it’s unfortunate timeliness is an issue. But if that is improved, Chat’s gets five stars.

Surrounded by restaurants, bars, and other liquor shops along Barracks Row, Chat's Liquors is a no-frills, small shop with kind service and a good selection of wine, beer and other alcohol. I usually go in for the chilled white wines in the back.

I came in looking for a mezcal and the owner took the time to walk me through the section they had and to sample a few. Extremely knowledgeable staff who will help you find what you are looking for. Great selection and affordable prices. Thank you!

Excellent Liquor store. The owner is a great guy. Try this coffee moonshine liquor. He is the only one that stocks it. I had to fly from California to DC just to get it. Well worth the trip. PS I was in DC for business.

This place has been on the Hill FOREVER!!! The people are NICE in there! And, whenever you go, they are ALWAYS willing to be helpful. The prices are fine. It's really an old-school DC booze shop and I think the customer service is the reason it's still there. One time they had this cool bottle of tequila in the window and I asked about it. It was to be a gift for a friend, and it was shaped like a Mexican man with a sombrero. But when the man checked, he said it was the last bottle of it he had. It was cool looking and sort of added to the display in the window too but since I liked it, he sold it to me anyway. That is good customer service 👍
