Houston Restaurant Closings to in 2024 - Eater Houston

"The Heights mainstay and seasoned Mediterranean cafe announced its plans to close in early March. The business opened in February 2004, serving Mediterranean dishes and neighborhood cafe-friendly plates like beef tenderloin kebabs, lasagna, and soups. Co-owner Lauren Mansoudi confirmed the restaurant’s closing to the Chron, but the restaurant hasn’t announced its official last day of service." - Courtney E. Smith

Great little spot with friendly service, ample parking and yummy food. The Greek salad to start was awesome and followed it with the gyro platter which was very good and big portion. Greek salad with chicken as entree has become my go to as it's a great portion size and their homemade dressing is amazing.

Google
The service was great but as for the food... I was a little disappointed. The shrimp stir fry had way too much sweet sauce. The sauce was thick, sugary and full of preservative. Though I might be wrong, the tomato basil soup did not appear to be made in-house; using heavy whipping cream would have made this soup a lot better. The gyro meat was really good but I just wished it would have came with something rather than french fries perhaps some roasted potatoes with drizzled olive oil garlic and rosemary. The atmosphere this restaurant gives the customer the expectation of something more grand than simple french fries.

Google
Absolutely wonderful! We moved to Houston a few days ago and we just happened by on a Sunday afternoon on the way to get groceries. We got the Hippie Hollow and the Gyro Wrap and both were outstanding. Our server was very and friendly. We both love the atmosphere of this place. Will definitely be back!

For C on our alphabet food run we choose Chatter's cafe & bistro. It was a hit and miss. For appetizer we had the hummus which was good the pitas are really good but the veggies were old and wilted. Jimmy had the Aegean grill plate (gyro and chicken)! He loved it, it was a hit. Well in his words "It is Yummy Yummy Yummy!" The miss was my Margarita chicken panini was not so good the bread was a hard dried out baguette nothing really like I wanted or expected! The tomato bisque soup was good though. Taking in consideration everything I would agree with its rating of 3,stars!

On a busy street across the street from a super market is a simple, casual ranch style building with terrific food. We used to go to Chatter's often. Why it fell off our list of go-to places, I don't recall. But I am glad that We went back--twice this month, Both times I ordered the grilled salmon, which tastes fresh and is served with brown rice, black beans and pico de gallo along with an assortment of mixed vegetables It is hard to find restaurants which serve the healthier brown rice.My husband had a Greek salad and then an artichoke misto dip served with carrots, celery and pita bread. The food here is mostly Mediterranean and Italian with a small selection of Asian dishes. The broad selection is both healthy and delicious.

Michael Montesinos

Google
I would agree with reviews about the food being eh-okay, maybe even average. It’s a good place to go if you are craving Mediterranean. Veggies and rice were good, but the meat was salty and dry.

Kay Boyte-Moore

Google
Best service in Houston... period. Also best hummus. The flavor of the chicken stir fry was great, and the mimosas are the perfect ratio of champagne and juice. My husband, who hates hummus, loved it here! Will be back 👍🏻

Nice place. Good food. The atmosphere is nice and the service was great. A bit pricy but good. Lots of vegetarian and healthy options.

Yelp
I ordered food as pick up. I ordered the thai shrimp salad. I wanted something healthy and fast/easy to eat "on the go"... It was only a 15 minute wait. The place was not busy on Monday night at 620 pm. I get my food... It was delicious. Fresh tasting, lots of veggies, nice portion. It comes with a piece of naan bread. I yelped for just a minute before I ordered... I seem interested in a lot of things on their menu, so I'll most likely return here. They have reasonable prices too. Sorry I didn't take a picture

Yelp
Mediocre at best. He seems to be going into a remodeling and didn't have many item items on the menu. I hope he comes back strong.

Yelp
I went to the Holiday speak easy event and it was pretty fun. They gave us a free holiday punch drink when we got there. The place was kind of small and crowded, but the hosts were awesome. They made us play some hilarious holiday games and they were super funny. The whole room was decked out with lights and decorations. They had popcorn for sale on a table, but I didn't get any. The hosts made the event worth it.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. Have been eating here for years and never disappoints! Great food, staff and quiet atmosphere make this place my go to eatery. Fresh salads, healthy entrees and 1/2 wine on Wed evenings! Love it! Try it and tell others!!

Yelp
Sorry fpr this review, but we were very didappointed in our visit. There was only one other person in the place during Sunday brunch. We tried to order from the bar but waiter said we should just order from the wine list. Not sure why. Food was mediocre at best. Probaby never go back.

Yelp
the food here was very delicious and the service was quick and easy! highly recommend this place for an easy yet very yummy dinner!

Yelp
Such yummy food! My go to is the angle hair pasta with Delia sauce and chicken. The peta bread they give you is delicious. Other favorites are fish and chips and their salads are all yummy!

Gary R.

Yelp
The food was good. Calamari and gyros were good at a fair price. The decor is awful, throw some paint on the walls

Yelp
Quiet little spot near Washington Ave. stopped in around 3 on a Saturday afternoon. Besides a baby shower that was going on the place was relatively dead. Ordered the hummus to start. It was a very generous portion with a lot of pita bread. Could have used more veggies, but can't complain. The hummus tasted fresh like it was made in house. Ordered the fish n chips as my meal. Some of the best I've had! The fish was perfectly fried (not to greasy) and the fish was light and didn't crumble when you cut into it. The sauce that comes with it has the perfect kick needed to make the meal just right. I will definitely be back for another round, next time the craving hits!

Yelp
Been here awhile so that is usually a good sign. Met a froend for lunch after driving by it many times. Free parking - lots of it. Quick and friendly service. We both had the gyro plates ($13) that included a choice of soup (3 available - tomato bisque was a winner) and a make-your-own gyro plate. The latter was a heap of gyro slices, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and sauce and unnecessary fries. Unlimited pita breads. Tasty and a lot of food.

Yelp
Every time I go here the staff is perfectly pleasant and quick. The food is good for what it is, it's consistent and fairly priced. I'll keep coming back

Yelp
Not impressed. The food was not authentic Mediterranean or Greek and didn't taste very good.

Yelp
Cute hidden gem in Washington Heights serving American and Mediterranean-inspired meals. I always passed by this place on Heights Blvd right across from the new Buffalo Heights development, but never really gave it a second thought. It blends in pretty easily and I've never heard anyone in the area talk about it before. However, a random craving for Fish & Chips and a Google search led me to this place... and I was very, very happy with my experience. We came on a sleepy Saturday afternoon towards the end of their brunch menu. There were two large parties and a few scattered couples throughout. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, which I enjoy. The place reminded me of a small town restaurant... a good refresher when compared to the over-hyped and over-designed restaurants in the area. We ordered the hummus appetizer to start, which came with an over-abundance of toasted pita bread and crisp veggies. The hummus was fresh and had the perfect amount of flavor - not overly acidic thankfully. We also had their house salad which was fresh, crisp and came with their red wine vinaigrette house dressing. The fish & chips went above and beyond in expectation to fulfill my craving. The fish was fried perfectly. Crispy and just the right amount of flakiness. It came with one of the best tartar sauces I've had - plenty of capers, dill and a hint of cayenne (I'm guessing) to give it the right amount of kick! So happy I found this place in my neighborhood. I will definitely be back to try their other offerings!

Yelp
I love this place. I like to come Wednesday evenings, after a hot yoga class, and share 1/2 priced bottles of wine. I always get their Mediterranean salad (add 6 shrimp for $4). They tend to be busy for brunches on weekends. Otherwise, it's pretty dead in the restaurant. Which I prefer for my Wed yoga dinners. They share parking lot with Darwin's Theory located on back side of restaurant. I believe both have same owners. The bar sometimes gets busy and no parking for Chatter's. Which is unfortunate as it drives those if us trying to eat to another destination. I wish they'd do a happy hour menu for more than just Wednesday's. In January, one of the owners/ manager said they were rolling one out in February. That has yet to happen. I've liked everything I've gotten from here. Aegean grill is great, their St. George sauce is yummy, so I'll use that with dishes that call for other sauces. The beef medallions, pasta bowls, etc. all good! Note to owners: please work on parking situation with bar. And get a HH menu already!!

Yelp
Best sandwich spot/diner in town! Where has this spot been my whole life?! We ordered a BRIE BLT on a croissant.. wwwwooowwza! Super yummy!
google avatar

Well Well Well C.

Yelp
Food was fresh, we ordered the gyro plates. We asked for extra tziki and they didn't forget! That's always a plus. It's the little things. Thank you for great delivery and experience.

Yelp
Chatter's is a good place to go with a group because their menu covers so many different types of food, including American, Mediterranean, Asian, and Italian. Our server was very personable and he was very good about sharing his opinions on his favorite dishes. I went with one of his recommended dishes (Aegean Grill - gyro, chicken, vegetables and rice) and I was pleased. It was a lot of good food for a good price. If you check-in on Yelp, you can get $5 off your bill if it's at least $20 pre-tax.

Yelp
Popping into The Kitchen at Dunlavy on a Saturday morning with a large group of gals - big mistake. Quickly moving the entourage over to Chatter's? Big win! Not only was there plenty of self parking, seating, and brunch served til 3, we had access to their wifi which was much needed during this gal pal "brunch meeting." The brunch menu has a variety of omelets, burgers, juevos rancheros, wraps and the like. The Greek omelete with feta and gyro meat hit the spot and was a large portion at that. (Thank goodness for Saturday morning workout sessions!) Chatter's definitely isn't one of Houston's best brunches, but they cover the basics - mimosas, bloody marys, no-frills bites, and casual environment - for an affordable price. I'll have to go back for lunch, as one of my best friends loves their artichoke misto. And as a plus, they deliver through Yelp Eat24! Cheers to not having to leave your couch.

Yelp
I went her for a staff luncheon. I have been here before but it was so long ago i really didnt remember my experience. I don't know why I didn't remember because this place is delicious. The staff are friendly and they catered to us in every way. I ordered the turkey club on croissant bread. I also asked could it be warmed which the staff did without a complaint. It was great the croissant was warm and buttery and the turkey was moist. I also had the chicken vegetable soup which was again delicious. I really like this place because the prices are good and the service is to. The prices are not ridiculous and the food is not heavy. Overall, i would definitely try again for lunch or just to grab a quick bite.

Yelp
Now I can't say this was the most fantastic or most terrible meal ever, so that apparently means it's "A-OK," ya dig? The vegetarian platter is pretty basic (see photo), but protein, veggies, and grains were all fairly represented. It wasn't exactly a taste explosion - I added some pepper and ketchup I believe (I love ketchup, big whoop!) to "upgrade" it a bit. I am not sure the vegetables were fresh, but at least they weren't freezer-burned. The portion wasn't ridiculous, but I managed to feel pretty nourished with a few bites left to spare. I also had the black bean soup and from what I recall, it was dangerously salty. This is coming from a gal who loves salty stuff and shut up, I didn't gain weight, I'm just bloated (okay, maybe that's a half lie?). I actually had to spoon a few spoonfuls of water into it - then it was palatable. I think my favorite part of my particular meal was the awesomeness that was their deeply discounted beers and wine. I'm assuming this doesn't happen all the time, so don't hold your breath, but Chatters was clearing out old inventory, so my friends and I got our drank-on for ridiculously cheap prices. The service was pretty great, but I distinctly remember it being BEYOND FREEZING. I think one of my friends even remarked on the frigidness to the waitress and she sheepishly kind of shrugged it off. The alcohol-induced warm fuzzies were surely appreciated, let me tell you!

Yelp
Beware. Run away like this building is on fire. Not only does the wait staff tell no truth, but neither does the management. Their menu was printed in 2011 and promotes that they have "Half Price Wine on Wednesday". 3 glasses, 1 full priced bill, and management discussions later, we got over- charged by 45%.

Yelp
I have been going to Chatters for years. It is one of my favorite spots in the Heights with a delicious patio/ sun or shade a true southern comfort place. My last visit was the best ever. Our waitstaff genius/ Eric Brockway took excellent service to another level. Chatters is very fortunate to have someone so devoted to the job. He brought pleasing up to another level. He catered to our table like we were the only ones there. If we asked for more ice water; he brought us pitches full. A burger not done right; he replaced it. He was generous boxing up our leftovers instead of throwing take out boxes at us. If you go...be a ease. Ask for Eric Brockway in advance. You will be amazed and so will your friends.

Yelp
I stop by and order stuff for pick up on a regular basis. The staff is always friendly and the food is pretty good.

Yelp
Sandwiches and service were excellent! I appreciated the $5 coupon for the Yelp Check in!

Yelp
This was my first visit to Chatters. I was expecting so much more after reading the other reviews but our experience was below par. We came on a Sunday early evening and they weren't busy but service was terrible. It took forever to take our order, then the waitress forgot my wine. The food was only mediocre. My boyfriend had the pork chops and said they were horrible. They looked it too. I had the stir fried shrimp. Lots of rice and veggies but lacking much in shrimp. The sauce is very sweet. My daughter had the ahi tuna and it came with a brown avocado vinaigrette. WTF? By the way, Yelp says there is a full bar. There isn't but instead they have a very limited wine and beer menu.
google avatar

Yelp
***BEWARE*** Decent quality for the rate. Service was poor due to being under staffed. However, we were double charged and over-charged. Double charged for two glasses of wine when we only had one, and over-charged for the amount for it to boot. And also over charged for an entree, and again for one of its item substitutions. Additionally, over charged for the children's meal. Multiple mistakes were either on purpose increase tip amount, or complete ineptitude. However. that doesn't matter: not interested in a return attempt.

Olivia R.

Yelp
I got the margarita sandwich with chicken and it was incredible! The sweet potato fries and the regular fries were so good! Both portions were huge and could probably be shared by two people. My boyfriend got the chatter burger and was able to add so many toppings and he loved it. We both cannot wait to go back again!

Yelp
Very friendly and great customer service! Really enjoyed the experience. Thanks Eric!

Yelp
Since my last review I've been back 3 times and always get the same thing zucchini fritters and the kabob chicken AMAZING! The st George sauce takes the chicken to another level! The fritters are fried perfectly!!! They go down nicely with a glass or two of mimosas! The staff is always friendly and more than helpful! My friend and I use this as our special lunch place to catch up! Great food and good service!
google avatar

Darrin C.

Yelp
We have been eating here for years. Food is consistently good: a favorite is the Aegean Grill. We always receive very good service. If you have not eaten here yet, give it a try.

Yelp
Last minute Friday meal before the movies. Complimentary free valet parking. Casual place, food tastes clean. Like a sit down Zoe's kitchen. Plus 1. very friendly service 2. happy hour 5-7 with drink specials and good value appetizers like boneless buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing - omg - awesome! Areas of improvement 1. maybe music? 2. decor looks like the inside of a house 3. hummus too watery for my taste
google avatar

Claire G.

Yelp
I think Chatter's really wants to be a great place! They have all the right ingredients...a patio, a great menu, brunch specials, but something is always off about this place. I have been to this place a few times. The menu has a variety of choices from burgers and wraps to great salads. And again, the brunch menu is delicious! My last experience was not my favorite. After being seated it was 15+ minutes before a waiter even approached me and another 15+ minutes waiting for our drinks. The timing of the food was all off...the appetizer, drinks, and entrees were served within about 10 minutes of each other. As we were enjoying our bottomless mimosas (yes, this is a HUGE plus), we were busy balancing our wobbly table. I think Sunday brunch is a BUSY time anywhere in Houston...and it would have been nice if this place were a little more prepared. I do have to recommend the Huevos Rancheros! So delicious with fresh avocado and cheese quesadillas on the side! Yum! So bottom line...not my favorite place in Houston, but worth trying out.
google avatar

Yelp
We decided to use Chatter's as the venue for our son's bar mitzvah party. It was one of the few places that doesn't have a minimum food charge and doesn't have a "room fee". Asef, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. He was so incredibly easy to work with. in fact, he was a little too easy. I'm going to admit that it made me a little nervous. I was expecting signed documents, emailed confirmations and deposits. It was actually the exact opposite. it was casual conversations, notes scribbled on notebook paper and phone calls with his staff. That said, it went off without a hitch. They were so incredibly accommodating! What's your budget? Great! You want a musician? Fantastic! Only this type of beer and these kinds of wine? No problem! In short, the price was perfect, the food was delicious, the service was flawless, everyone had a great time. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone having a party. (We had almost 100 people and it didn't feel tight at all.)

Yelp
Wonderful Mediterranean food in a casual atmosphere. Not too trendy or too loud. It's just perfect. Close to downtown and River Oaks and good for meeting with clients.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday night with some friends. We say outside because the weather was great. The seating outside is pretty nice. We ordered hummus, zucchini fritters, and gyro plate. The gyro plate came with a rather bland and unappetizing side salad. There was no effort to make it special. The gyro plate itself was pretty good and had enough food on it for 2 people to share. The French fries which were included were rather soft and not fried long enough. The zucchini fritters were good. However, it is pretty hard to mess up on deep fried anything. The hummus tasted fantastic and was priced well and included a plentiful portion. My only complaint was that it had a runny consistency. I prefer my hummus thicker. The service was good but the food mediocre.
google avatar

Hamed A.

Yelp
Came hero on a quiet Tuesday night with some friends for dinner...cute little eatery in Heights that we've had our eye on trying. We decided to sit outside on the patio because the weather was just amazing. Quick look at the menu and I noticed immediate that it ambitiously offers American, Greek, Italian and Asian cuisines...***red flags for me*** Server warned us to stay away from the burgers as he felt they were super dry and pointed out some of his favorite menu items. We order the hummus, zuchinni fritters, gyro plate and beef stir-fry. Greek side salads that came with meals were wilted and tasted like they came out of a bag. Hummus was a little runny but my favorite part of the meal. Everything else was just 'meh'...disappointing as there's so many other GRRAT places to eat in the area...
google avatar

Maricruz G.

Yelp
This has got to be the worst place ever for lunch. The waitress was sloth slow and totally ignored our table the entire time. She only came to bring our food (after I got up from the table to ask) and to bring the check. Seriously? About 4 tables ate and finished their meal in the time we just sat and waited on our order. The food was subpar but the service abysmal. I will never return to this establishment. I was very disappointed in service and actually my friend and I should not have even paid for the meal. I actually had to give it a star...it doesn't deserve it.
google avatar

Ken G.

Yelp
Portions were huge, price was fair, and service was excellent. The gyro meat, pita, and tzatziki were as good as any I have had. It was worth the drive into town from the north side; we would certainly do it again.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
The service was subpar from our server, it was dead but she had a 8 or so top- so the manager was on his game taking care of us (definitely commend Chuck on his services). I teeter between 3 and 4 star though and I decided to errr on the higher side. The food was amazing, except the pasta, which was a bit over cooked. The pizza, stir fry and cheese plate were awesome though- and large portions for a low price! I was with a friend and we felt very judged when we ordered a second bottle of wine (the first took us over an hour to finish). We actually learned upon ordering that they had just closed and asked for it to be corked to go, so we weren't "those people" who stay past close. In addition to that, we had a restaurant.com gift card- with them as a listed restaurant (that's how I even discovered this restaurant) During reservation, and before ordering I mentioned and showed the gift card/ and upon paying the manager attempted to only give us half the card worth. I won't judge the restaurant on it- but if they are going to be part of the websites preferred restaurant list, they need to be familiar with this- I even had to log on and show the manager the gift card unprinted. My friend actually felt like she never wants to go again because she felt so embarrassed as if he didn't believe is about the gift card, even after showing live proof online- not a screenshot, literally watched me log on. I loved the food and ate leftovers for lunch though, so I definitely want to go back.

Yelp
I love this little tucked away restaurant. Me and a coworker go at least once a month. I always tell my self I am going to try something new but when I get there, I love what I usually get which is a chicken Pita with avocado, and cup of soup, that I just reorder the same. The last time I was there we order the friend zucchini as an appetizer and we both enjoyed it. I'm happy to have discovered this place.

Yelp
Met several coworkers for lunch this week. At 11:30a, the place was almost empty. Food took way too long to arrive and service was poor. Waited for refill on water for over 10 mins, and the server wouldn't ever walk by. Food was average. Ordered a gyro salad. Meat was dry and quantity was small. Bill included gratuity, which is probably why the server didn't care to give better service. No wonder this place is having to promote on restaurant.com to gain new customers. It's a shame because the location is great and the place has character. With better food quality and service Chatters has potential to be a solid dining choice.

Lo H.

Yelp
Great food and great service! We were hesitant to try Chatters because of other reviews about slow service and high turnover of servers, but that is not the case! We had great service and they have trimmed down and hired new staff, all of whom are very well trained and extremely personable! Our waiter, Joel, was incredibly attentive and offered great recommendations for both food and wine. The house Cab is a steal at $6 a glass! We got the chicken kabob with soup and gyro with feel salad- the dressing was so fresh and the soup was hearty and delicious! On top of our entrees tasting great, the portions were huge for such a great price! The menu has something to please everyone, but nothing too far fetched. There are some Italian options, some Asian touches, some dishes with Mediterranean flare, and also some traditional American options. Normally, this would make me skeptical, but honestly, they're the same ingredients, it just depends on how their prepared, and trust me, they're prepared well! It's not like they're serving sushi at an Italian joint. They've got a little bit of everything and guaranteed to please everyone in your party! It was definitely our first of many trips!

Yelp
Had a turkey Cobb salad and it was the absolute beeeeest! The only bad thing was they put blue cheese on my salad, but that was my fault because I didn't tell them not to. Either way, the salad was still great!!!

Yelp
This place has gone downhill in the past 3 months. Its a shame. They used to be great. Food: mediocre Service: much to be desired Items on menu: out of stock every time we visited Hope they get their act together soon

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been to Chatters. I was looking for a place to have a business lunch AND sit outside. I remembered that Chatters had the outside seating that would be perfect. And it was. My lunch partner had the Cuban Sandwich which he managed to wolf down in nothing flat. I originally ordered the Turkey Cobb Wrap because I thought it had grilled turkey in it. However, the waitress, Veronica, had her stuff together and came back to tell me that the turkey in the wrap was cold. So, I had the Chicken Cobb Salad.....excellent choice! The only downside? Didn't have room for dessert.

Yelp
I never met a cheese I didn't like. I realize that's a very hefty statement, but up to this point in my life it is 100% true: I never met a cheese I didn't like. My tried and true first love and nearest and dearest to my heart cheese, though, is brie. The cream, the wax, the melt-in-your mouth HEAVEN is just something I will never EVER be able to resist. So when I went to Chatter's Cafe & Bistro with my parents for lunch the other day, I couldn't NOT order the BLT & Brie Sandwich. It incorporated two of my great loves (Brie and - duh - bacon) and a new love of my life: APRICOT FLAVORED MAYO, ARE YOU SERIOUS. So you can understand why, as I tried to avert my eyes and explore other incredibly appealing options, such as the Mediterranean Salad, Smoked Turkey Ciabatta, or Buffalo Chicken Wrap, the BLT & Brie Sandwich kept calling me home. Fortunately for me, my mother is equally as crazy about my beloved brie, so she suggested she get another meal, and we go halvesies in order to experience more flavors. As a general rule, this happens more often than not with us. Love it. So she ordered the Mediterranean Quesadilla, which is filled with spinach, feta, mushroom, chopped tomato and hot peppers. MAH. GOODNESS. Needless to say the food did not disappoint. The BLT & Brie Sandwich was - dare I say it? - PERFECT. I asked for it on ciabatta bread, which I think added the perfect outer crispiness to the inner gooey brie-ish-ness. The bacon was nice and crispy as well, and the apricot mayo (I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE THAT'S EVEN A THING) was DI-VINE. I also got it with a side Greek salad, which hit the spot. The quesadilla was also insanely good. The only gripe I have with it was that it was a tad soggy, but not to the point of ruining the meal. The feta was awesome (duh, it's cheese), and the mushrooms were marinated in something that gave them a nice tangy pop. The quesadillas came with a Greek sauce of some sort on the side, that was creamy and pretty mild in flavor (some sort of Hummus maybe?), and it complemented them perfectly. This dish was definitely also an excellent choice. I also nabbed one of my dad's fries, which gets a thumbs up from me! I am so happy we stumbled onto this little gem of a spot. Not only did the food receive rave reviews all around from all of us, the interior of it is very clean, simple, and pretty. Perfect lunch spot.

Yelp
Went here for brunch. I got the Thai shrimp salad which was excellent. They had a mimosa carafe for $20 and single glasses for $4. We asked the waitress how many single glasses are in the carafe and she said 4. 4x4 is $16 so it's more expensive to get the carafe?? She seemed confused. So I just stuck with a single mimosa (which was just over 1/2 a champagne glass full which seemed stingy). So docking one star for either poor pricing scheme OR misinformation from the waitress plus poor drink portions.

Yelp
Lauren J and I had made a challenge to not eat out for a whole month. The month was up this weekend, and the first place we ended up going to was Chatters. Note: not our first choose to break the so-called fast, but we were being treated by my parents. I hadn't been to Chatter's in a while, but I had forgotten how good the food was. Everyone at the table except 1 person got the Blue Mediterranean plate, and good gracious it was good. The hummus and eggplant dips were fantastic, and the meat was delicious. I had forgotten how salty restaurant food is though. Not that it wasn't good, or even over salted, but we just haven't been used to it in the last month. Great place, great wine selection (we went with a New Zealand Pinot Noir) And friendly service. Although thinking about the service... The waiter did seem to just disappear for a while, which I now remember was my complaint the last time I went. Pterosaur than that, solid place.

Yelp
I too had high hopes for this place as it seems to garner its share of traffic. I went on a weekday for lunch (Tues?). The parking up front is all valet but the valet wasn't there or hiding so I just self parked- no big deal as I prefer to park it myself when the door is 20 feet away. Why they even have a valet- who knows... Once inside, we were promptly seated. The decor is nice. The menu was fair and seemed to have a decent selection for a locally owned Chili's / Friday's grill cafe type of place. Drink order was taken promptly. The waitress was okay, not friendly but not rude, kinda apathetic. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich (hoagie) w/ a side of fruit. My girlfriend got some sort of chicken wrap and a salad. My sandwich arrived and I noticed it had mayo on it despite the fact the menu did not indicate this (every ingredient seemed to be listed on the menu for all the sandwiches). Because I didn't specifically ask the waitress, I did not make a fuss. I decided to eat the chicken out of the sandwich- big mistake. If it did not come out of a Tyson pre-prepared bag- it sure looked and tasted like it!!! The grilled chicken breast had the look and consistency of the Sysco pre-made variety with the painted on grill marks that you heat and serve! It was extremely salty. I'm guessing they added additional seasoning to it when they "cooked" it. I stopped after one bite and decided just to eat the fruit cup. I picked up a piece of fruit out of the cup and threw up in my mouth. I saw a hair in it... not just any hair... I'll put it this way- it didn't look like it came off of someone's head. I immediately flag down the waitress and point it out to her- she was absolutely MORTIFIED. She took it away and apologized. I told her I was done. My girlfriend's wrap was okay but it too had the pre-cooked chicken and frankly she was grossed out as well and only took a few more bites. The most disappointing part- the waitress brought the bill and had taken off my sandwich but never once did a manager come by to apologize or anything. It was like the entire staff just wanted to avoid the whole situation. Needless to say I won't be back and would not steer my friends there. I am glad others like this place but what we ordered was sub-par and what I saw being served around us was definitely nothing special- even without the "questionable" hair.

Yelp
If you're sitting around on a weeknight thinking...where can I go for light & tasty Mediterranean meal, a good glass of wine, with good service and a relaxed atmosphere? Chatter's is your place. So maybe there's some chatter about the cheesy Kobain lounge next door, or some chatter about lame food....I say to you, put all of that nonsense aside and give it a try! Sure, if you stick to plain items on the menu you might be disappointed, but that's just an order placement fail on your part. Stick to the med plates....the hummus is creamy garlicky goodness served with freshly made pita and veggies...the Greek salad is so yummy that I've never seen anyone leave without making a happy plate....the vegetarian's delight is simple and the brown basmati rice makes the meal! The service there is outstanding...the waiters are attentive and friendly as well as accommodating to any special food prep requests. On top of that, the price is very reasonable. I love any place where I can go after a tennis match or a long run around Memorial, refuel and feel at home. Hangover tip: They deliver in the area...and the burgers and fries are pretty perfect for nursing those painful hangovers that leave you incapacitated for the entire day.
