Chaumette Vineyards & Winery

Very lovely winery. The grounds around the winery are beautiful. I ate dinner and went on a hike. The food was okay but I was hoping it would of been a little more upscale. The salmon was slightly over seasoned. The hiking is very cool. I added a picture of the hiking map. We went to the other winery and they were closed. You can tell from the pictures that it's worth the drive.

We arrived on a Saturday early evening in August and were surprised to be seated on the patio deck right away. I ordered the Sea Bass and my wife ordered a salad. The salad was ok, but it would have been nice if they had asked if the dressing should be on the side as it was a bit drenched. The Sea Bass was very good if not a little lacking in seasoning. However, the corn risotto was a wonderful pairing with the fish and really made it stand out. The deck had a great view, but it was a bit crammed with people and they several were getting up and walking to other tables to talk so servers had a hard time getting by. The staff needs more training as 3x a bus girl / server abruptly interrupted our dinner by taking plates away without asking. It was jarring having an arm thrust in your face without warning as you are talking. The servers also wear short shorts and mini skirts. The whole feeling out on the deck was more of a sports bar than a fine dining establishment.

Very serene setting overlooking the countryside. They run the risk of building the place up too much, but for now, still feels quaint. Some of the best wine in the area and a nice restaurant to go with it. We got the fancy fries and they were fantastic. Highly recommend going at a quieter time and sitting out on the wrap around porch overlooking the vineyard and nearby farmland. The wine tender behind the bar was fantastic on our last visit and the wait staff was also very pleasant.

Booked a villa for a night because we were attending a wedding. Absolutely beautiful!!!The wedding and reception area were very charming and the buffet was very nice and quaint.It was a great experience! Ordered a breakfast tray for the morning after the wedding and it was very good. The amenities on site were nice and we made a reservation for lunch the next day and we were NOT disappointed! Beautiful presentation and well prepared. You can tell they use quality ingredients... it comes thru in the taste True to form it was on par with the rest of the facility. It was one of the most relaxing weekends my wife and I have had in a long time. My only minor complaint is the while the servers at the reception and the Tasting Room were all very pleasant and helpful they lacked some refinement that would bring another level to this great place. But please don’t let that stop you from visiting... it really was a great experience and we will be back!

Chaumette has a kind owner, caring and attentive staff, and food that is mouthwateringly delicious. The wine is also fantastic, as it is not as sweet as other Missouri wines. It has a pleasant aroma and a soft finish. The staff were all happy to be working and friendly. The grounds are very well kept and the entire winery was spotless. The prices for lunch at the restaurant are very agreeable, especially considering how well-made they are. My compliments to the chef! I would love to stay at one of the villas in the future. If you are looking for the best winery in Missouri, this is it!

Amazing food! 10/10 recommend the crab dip! The garlic Parmesan fries were good as well but definitely meant to be shared with multiple people. Not pictured is the chicken Alfredo pasta which was lovely. The carrot cake was delicious. We also ordered a bottle of moscato which was sweet and delicious. The views were beautiful and the live music was nice.

This is a lovely winery with incredible views. This was a perfect overnight getaway and only about an hour from St. Louis. We really enjoyed the Reserve Chardonel. And we had an amazing meal at the restaurant. We stayed here as part of the Harvest Hosts program and were provided a quiet out of the way place to park our RV. We will definitely be back.

Outstanding, fantastic, flavor-packed food, from start to finish. I chose the eggplant starter and ono fish special with a side of carrots. One of the best meals I've ever had. I did not pair my meal with a wine selection so unfortunately cannot offer a review. Make the drive to this picturesque Ste. Genevieve winery. Also, lovely villas onsite with outdoor pool (in season).

Though I wish we had been able to have time to experience more of what Chaumette has to offer, it definitely gives me good reason to make it back! We popped in, really just for a couple drinks at the end of a trip our to Ste Genevieve to hit a few different places. The property is beautiful, and offers amazing views. The staff was all very nice. And the wine/drinks we had were all fantastic. Would definitely love to come back here for dinner!

A large group of us stayed at one of the Chaumette Villas this past week while in the area for a wedding, a group of 4 of us came here for dinner our first night around 6pm. It appeared slow, however we were told we needed a reservation but could wait an hour, order a drink and take-out appetizers. Sense it was the only restaurant open for miles we agreed. We ordered at the bar from the same woman that helped us at the hostess stand. The spicy feta dip was great, though a little strange they gave it to us truly in a to-go container complete without napkins in a plastic bag. We were sat at right around 7:15pm. Our server was great, he was covering the entire floor. Everything else we ordered was good and served quickly. They did their best with little staff, appreciated them not turning us away although the initial experience was a little strange.

Really disappointed in the service. Incredibly slow. Won't pay attention to customers. After 45 minutes we left.

Chaumette Vineyards' restaurant was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary with dinner! The surrounding grounds/vineyards are picturesque, the flowers were in full bloom, and we had a beautiful view of the sunset. Our entrees were amazing. My husband got the gumbo pasta which was packed full of flavor and has shrimp, crawfish, onions, poblanos, red peppers, smothered in a Cajun asiago cream sauce. I got the seafood cioppino which was STELLAR. It had lots of fish, crawfish, scallops, 2 pieces of garlic toast on the side. I wished I had more bread to dip into that stew. We tried their chocolate creme brulee for dessert, which was a tad salty and cold inside to my liking (perhaps more pudding-like than custard-like). Otherwise, I would come back here in a heartbeat to try more entrees or appetizers!

Best winery in the area. Outstanding food. Great views from the deck. Well worth the drive from St Louis!

My husband and I got married at the barn at Chaumette a year ago! Since then, we have visited several times! The food never disappoints, it is AMAZING! Definitely worth the price of fine dining because the service is out of the world. We have been fortunate enough to have Tim as a server several times! He recommends his favorites and is so attentive. All of the staff seem to be so passionate about their jobs, they have been so kind, and caring! The ambiance of the Grape Vine Grill is unmatched! I definitely recommend sitting outside to see the one of a kind view! I don't know of another winery in this area with this service, quality of food, and view thy Chaumette offers!

Stopped in doing a mini wine (unofficial) wine tour of the area. It's a little confusing to figure out where you go in because you walk through an outdoor dining area to get into the restaurant and there is no signage. The property is absolutely gorgeous, though. It was nice just staring over the horizon. However, I went inside to check and see what protocol was for tastings/drinking wine, not dinner, and was pretty harshly informed that they only do reservations. Definitely did not feel welcome, so I turned around to leave. A friendly gentleman stopped me outside and seated us in place of a cancelled reservation. He was much warmer and nicer about the situation. After that we tried some wines and our server was great, though seemed surprised that were weren't ordering food. It was a little awkward because it seemed to be only folks staying in the "villas" at the winery at dinner. We did check the website before going and it did not say anything about requiring reservations - it said reservations for the GRILL were strongly encouraged, did not mention any new protocol for COVID. Wine was good, not as much of a variety as some of the other wineries nearby, though. I recommend their sweet red!

My wife and I have gone to Chaumette a couple times. Our first visit was part of a weekend that included hiking at Taum Sauk Mountain the weekend that we got engaged. We recently returned with our one year old son this summer as we felt it was an appropriate socially distanced vacation spot. The winery is fine, and pretty typical of Missouri vinyards. The wine is just ok, but you are really going for the atmosphere. There is a tasting room as well as the Grapeseed restaurant. There is a nice outdoor patio where you can drink your wine. The restaurant is quite good. The first time we ate on the wrap around patio. When we recently went we got food to go and ate on the patio by our villa. The villas are a collection of cabins that run from 1-4+ bedrooms. They are situated on a a greenspace area on the top of a hill. There is a nearby pool which is excellent as well as a mini-spa. The pool has a number of small cabanas around it where you can hang out with your friends. We went ~9am with our son and had the place to ourselves. It was the highlight of the day honestly as the setting was so relaxing. The vinyard is located to a number of other locations. We were able to hike a short distance to the Charleville Vineyard and Brewery which was just a fun way to spend a couple hours. There are other Vineyards/Breweries nearby as well. St. Genevieve is close by and you can also find some hiking nearby (Pickle Springs is great). Overall we have enjoyed our two visits to Chaumette. We have liked it so much that we have gifted nights at Chaumette as presents to family members. It is a great spot for a weekend getaway.

The food was very tasty and the view is amazing! I got the turkey cranberry wrap and could find no fault with it. Very sweet sauce and moist flavorful turkey cold cuts. Not sure if it was boars head or home made but either way very nice. The dressed greens with house had a slightly tangy sweet flavor. Nice. My wife got the eggplant parm sandwich and it was great. Crispy and saucy with a nice olive oil topping. It was a nice soft French bread. The carrot cake was good too but a bit too sweet for me. My wife loved it. She said the caramel sauce was delicious.

My family took a trip to MO in order to attend a memorial service for a loved one, and they decided to hold it at Chaumette Vineyards. I cannot think of a more beautiful, serene location to have had this. Apparently, there are a couple ways to get to this vineyard, we took a very winding dirt road (which was beautiful). Our car did get pretty dirty, but hey! It was a rental :) Upon parking, we entered the main building at the top of the hill which included a nice sized hall to hold events that is connected to the wine tasting room/bar (and maybe a restaurant?). The food was fully catered by Chaumette and it truly was some of the best food I've ever had. No lie. I wish I had taken photos of the setup they had, but there was a fresh mixed green salad, rolls/butter, mashed potatoes and gravy, delicious grilled vegetables like squash, tomatoes, onions and a savory beef "stew" that went perfectly with the mashed potatoes. I believe the star of the show was the baked chicken thighs. These beauties were seasoned to perfection topped with some magical sauce (I have no idea what was in this perfection, but it was some sort of creamy goodness. I'm terrible at describing things, I'm sorry!). To top off the fact that these had SO much flavor, the tenderness was out of this world. I was able to venture off into the wine room and get myself a glass of their Assemblage, which is a an off-dry wine that is stainless steel aged with hints of cherry. This was absolutely divine and warmed me right up! The views at this winery were beautiful. I can only imagine how nice it would be to sip on a glass of their wine and eat a scrumptious meal outside on the deck (in warmer weather of course). If you have an event and need ideas of where to hold it, check this place out for sure!

I took family to visit Chaumette over the weekend, and it was a first visit for me as well. The winery itself is very attractive and at the end of a breathtakingly stunning drive. (The scenery in this part of MO is unparalleled!) We had a wonderful time with a wine tasting and a lovely, elegant lunch at the Grapevine Grill. Our waiter Tim was likely stretched thin with all the visitors out on the deck, but still took excellent care of all of us. If I'm recommending menu items, a dish that stands out are the garlic fries, which might be worthy of their own religion. It's all good, but don't miss those fries.

I always loved Chaumette. It's a beautiful place which is why I was thrilled when my daughter wanted to get married there. So I placed $1000.00 deposit for a wedding that would not take place for well over a year. Unfortunately due to certain circumstances, we could not have the wedding there and have to have it in another state due to one of the grandmothers being too old to travel. I called 3 times and left a message to see if I could get my deposit back. After 4 attempts and messages left, I finally got a hold of them. They would not budge on giving me the deposit back and wouldn't even compromise. The woman was very rude over the phone as well. I am heartbroken. I can understand if it was months away but well over a year? Terribly disappointing! I won't go back.

My husband surprised me with dinner reservations on Friday evening. He had been to the restaurant once prior and this was my first time. The drive to the restaurant was scenic and easy and pulling into the property, we saw beautiful grounds popping with color. They offer a venue for marriages and quaint places to stay. Big, we were there for the restaurant, so let's get to that. The restaurant is situated a top a hill with sweeping views of the vineyards, wild flowers and rolling hills below- it's quite lovely. They have a large outdoor covered porch with ceiling fans, which is where we and many other patrons chose to sit. While it was gorgeous and we wouldn't want to be inside, my one suggestion would be to add some fans that move the air for those on the porch, the summertime is hot and the setting Sun affects pretty much every diner on the porch and it's hot. The Celine fans were not sufficient (mind you, we could have chosen to sit inside where they have air, but we came as much for the views as the food). Food: we ordered the garlic fries for appetizer and finished them all- they were fresh cut potatoes with nice parmesan and accompanied by a garlic aioli dip. I ordered the special mixed drink, lavender lemonade, made with vodka, fresh lemons, soda water and house made lavender syrup- it was light and refreshing - enough so that we shared a second one. For dinner my husband had an 8 oz fillet with Brabant potatoes and corn on the cob. The steak was prepared perfectly and the corn was so good it brought back memories of the corn we'd get from street vendors in Puerto Vallarta- it was delicious. I had the crawfish étouffée and it had just the right amount of spice in the creamy, dark roux. The crawfish were plentiful! And the bed of rice was light and fluffy. We had the grand mariner carrot cake for dessert and we're not disappointed. The one suggestion and where I think they could enhance the dining experience is in offering pairing suggestions on the menu with each item. They should suggest a wine, beer and cocktail. It would elevate the experience and offer people and opportunity to expand their palate. Overall, great experience.

So, they really need to update the website on hours. The website said open til 8pm. Well, the tasting room closed at 5pm but dinner was served until 8pm. The lady was nice enough to let us try a few since she was still there. We could not eat dinner as there was no seatings left..so make reservations!!! We got the bar menu of Garlic PRm fries and Lobster cakes. The Fries were yummy but the Lobster Cakes were over priced and "ok" for what you got for $16!!! We did sit out on the gorgeous porch and enjoyed our wine and took in the view. This is a great place for a wedding and reception

We got to Chaumette when they first opened for the day and they were out of some of their reds. With COVID they weren't doing tastings either. Stayed for a glass of their red wine and left. To be fair, I liked the location and the property but the vibe wasn't there for a Saturday on their opening hour in April. Lunch didn't open until later so I think they are missing out on an 1100 early lunch crowd. Didn't seem like they were ready for the wine season. I would be glad to give another review when they awaken for customers.

Came in without a reservation, even though one is recommended, and was seated anyway, even after some initial confusion about takeout/staying at the bar for a glass. The hostess was extremely nice about it and it was no big deal. We were seated out on the patio, which had big heaters. We weren't in for dinner, so split a charcuterie board (just ok) and I had a cup of the tomato basil soup. Vegetarians be warned: the soup is made with both beef and chicken stock (my vegetarian friend made sure to ask, thank goodness!), which wasn't a problem for me and I found quite tasty.

Had a really great experience at the restaurant and stayed in the villa. Will definitely go back and check out the pool. Garian was are waiter at lunch and dinner and his service was excellent.

We decided to take a quick little jaunt down to St. Genevieve with the baby one Sunday afternoon. Scoped out a couple trails and picked a winery to each lunch and enjoy a bottle at. We decided on Chaumette. Now, the drive is not for the faint of heart. You will go 14 miles off of one of the state routes into residential farm area for miles, and miles, and miles. You will think you've gone the wrong way - you are on track... just. keep. going. We arrived a little early for lunch, but the baby was losing his mind due to the long drive and being hungry, so they accommodated us a bit early. They sat us away from others, as requested, so our stroller and kiddo were not a bother to others. Little did I know that the other guests would be enamored with our little guy and even offer to goo and gah at the baby while we ate. (He's normally a VERY chill baby, however, he is teething.) The countryside is breathtaking beautiful and the porch was perfect with the breeze coming in. We did not know that Chaumette had rentable villas where you could stay overnight, or for the weekend, and come up to the restaurant for your meals. Our neighbors in the restaurant were talking about how there is poolside wine service after noon down at the pool. (Don't forget, lunch starts at noon!) We did not do the tasting because were starving, and instead bought a bottle of the most dry thing we could. He likes dry whites, I like outrageously dry reds (none of those to be found in the Missouri wine repertoire). So we compromised on the driest white, the Chardonel! It was actually very yummy! I was pleasantly surprised given my taste profile doesn't usually include anything outside of Cabernet, Malbec, Zinfandel, and VERY dry reds that blend cab and merlot, etc. Our server, Tim, was wonderful. He was personable, had knowledge of every item on the menu and knew how to describe various aspects of every single item on the antipasto plate... thats impressive. Everyone was wonderful to us. Our glasses were never empty - water or otherwise. Onto the food. Usually, wineries do one thing really well - the food, the scenery/ambiance, or the wine. Seemingly, Chaumette did all three! We ordered the New Orleans BBQ shrimp appetizer - oh my god, the biggest prawns I have ever seen in my life. The smokey sauce was spicy and delicious. We, also got the charcuterie/antipasto plate. Tons of delicious bits! A lot of them are from some of our favorite places in STL (as we live there)... Baetje Farms (sold at Soulard Market via a lovely little Amish family who KNOWS THEIR CHEESE!) and Salume Beddu (wonderful cured meats. Amazing)... candied walnuts, bacon jam, crostinis, crispy items, grapes... It was a lovely plate of food to enjoy with the chardonel. Lastly, we also, got the burger... I know, sounds cliche... but oh my god! I think this might be one of the best burgers I have ever had - and this is saying A LOT as I have had a lot of really fabulous burgers in St Louis. Worth it. Get it. The bread is so fresh and light, the burger is so juicy - not a dry spot in it - bacon a creamy dill aioli... Oh my goodness. We had such a wonderful visit, we are already planning an opportunity to go back.

My boyfriend at the time planned a weekend get away here at one of the villas. We had dinner at their restaurant and everything was delicious. I 100% recommend the garlic parmesan fries. They were amazing. The whole experience was beautiful, and it helped that my, now husband, proposed to me. I would always recommend this winery to everyone looking for a weekend get away!

Last time I was here, I wrote not a positive review. Decided it might be a bad day, we all have them, but today was no different. Walked in and the hostess held up their hands like they were talking secrets, not a very welcoming environment. Again bad communication about limited seating and food service. Last time I left without ordering food, this time ordered food. The food was good for area. However, communication in person and in the website is still poor. Next time I'll eat fast food and go to a different winery.

We had a late lunch at Grapevine Grill after a hike at nearby (20 min away) Pickle Springs Nature Preserve. A glass of Chaumette Unoaked Chardonel 2018 was crisp and refreshing, like a Pinot Grigio. We split the garlic fries, which were nothing short of amazing. I had the eggplant sandwich and my husband had the burger, both very good. Pretty view, friendly and efficient wait staff. I highly recommend!

Beautiful winery with rolling hills views. The welcoming and friendly staff keep us coming back. Hank, the owner, is friendly to all his guests and cares that his guests are enjoying themselves. The villas are perfect for weekend or weekday getaway! Highly recommend this place!

TLDR: Not a place I would return. Good views, cute outdoors area. Hard pass on the food. Do not recommend. Subpar service. Not mean or rude, just not present. Good lobster bisque though. Full review: The lady under the giant painting where you order wine was kind and informative. The views are great and plenty of outdoor seating and parking. The tasting room and restaurant area weren't super clean. Some of the food was grossly overpriced. 1/4 a cup of runny gravy with a cup of rice shouldn't cost $19 and should not be called etouffee. The salmon and side "salad" were mediocre. Chicken tenders were good! We were warned that food would take 30 minutes because a large party had been seated, but it took well over an hour. We honestly wouldn't have even minded the wait if someone had come by the table to bring tea or water or even remembered to bring the ketchup we had to ask three times for. Not a BAD experience, but not worth a return for us.

My husband and I just stayed the night there after my niece's wedding. Let me start by saying my sisters and I had 0 work to do with set up of wedding decorations! We figured we would have some stuff to do but they took care of all the final touches. The barn could not have been anymore beautiful! The food (served family style) was made right next to the barn and came directly from the kitchen to the table. No food warmers. The food was amazing (especially the three cheese mashed potatoes). The villas are beautifully done. We had the one bedroom villa. Hardwood flooring, kitchenette with a good size fridge. They even had bathrobes! My sister had the villa that slept 8 and they had a full size kitchen, a gas fireplace, a huge dinner table and sitting area!

I absolutely love this place- I have been coming here for several years and have never been disappointed. My fiancée and I have spent a few anniversary weekends staying on the property- the accommodations are great and very private- it is always such a great weekend to get off the grid a bit and recharge in this beautiful setting. I definitely recommend taking a hike around the property if time and weather permits. The restaurant is always fantastic as well, the food is delicious and service is truly outstanding. I recently made a pit stop for lunch here during my Bachelorette party and everyone commented on how gorgeous the background was and how yummy the food was! What keeps me coming back is the unparalleled service that I always receive. Everyone that works here is so welcoming and friendly and make me want to keep visiting for many more years to come!

Chaumette is one of my favorite wineries in the Ste. Gen area. Not only is it extremely beautiful but the food here is pretty good. Many times, we will stop here with a group of people and order two or three orders of Garlic Fries and we will all be happy. The aioli they serve with the fries is amazing. I do think their dinner prices are a bit high and even though it is pretty to sit outside, we have found that the amount of bugs we deal with dampens the fun and atmosphere of the meal.

We love Chaumette! It's a very special place for our family. We have hosted a wedding and rehearsal dinner there, stayed in the villas, and enjoyed numerous meals at the grapevine grill. We like the wines; the owners, staff, and Chef Rob are all top notch. Today was our first unfortunate experience. Please understand that I want to say this as gently and kindly as possible...not everyone is a dog person! Allowing the owner's slobbering pups on the porch with diners staring at us for scraps made for a very unappetizing and frankly annoying meal. Just my 2 cents...take it or leave it.

This was our first time to Chaumette and it was perfect! We decided to get away for an anniversary celebration, but wanted an easy drive from our city. Villa 19 was beautiful- absolutely spotless. Everything looked brand new and the decorating was very tasteful. We did a wine tasting upon our arrival while we waited for our villa to be ready. The gentleman behind the bar was so nice, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Wish I could remember his name- he was from Iowa) - very professional and welcoming. After settling into the villa we went back to the winery for dinner. We sat outside even though it was cool. (They have blankets but we didn't need them). It was beautiful. The meal was delicious- served hot and timely. Our server was outstanding. They kept checking on us, refilling water, etc. I would give the service a 10+ based on our experience. The hostess who greeted us was very friendly. Unfortunately due to a fire last July, they lost much of their wine but there was a nice choice from other areas. This was a great place for a quick getaway. Next time we'll stay for 2 nights. We were sorry to have to leave.

I honestly didn't think that a perfect Missouri wine existed but WOAH I was wrong. There are several and they all live at Chaumette. We arrived at Chaumette on an unreasonably beautiful December afternoon after a couple wine tastings in search of food and more wine. We put in our name for food and they told us we could enjoy a wine tasting and our table would be waiting for us when we finished. Our wine tasting was incredible, I've certainly never drawn so many hearts on my tasting notes. It was truly unbelievable to me that I was drinking Missouri wine. As you can imagine, their wines have wine some (well deserved) awards but what you may not know is that they have award winning food as well. Definitely plan your trip around a meal, especially if its nice enough to eat outside.

We found a home away from home here. So incredibly welcoming. Call your by name. Facilities and views are incredible. Food was excellent. Wine tasting was fun. Just can't say enough things about this place.

We had dinner last night at the restaurant. It was one of the best meals we've ever had! My husband and I both had the Hawaiian Walu. Never heard of this fish before, but will look for it in the future. The corn risotto and micro greens made for a beautiful presentation and an ever better flavor explosion. Thr service was excellent. Tim is attentive and nice.

If you read Chaumette's reviews, you will quickly notice a theme: The food and scenery are fantastic, but the service is lacking. I couldn't agree more. Some girlfriends and I took a day trip to Ste Genevieve and were looking forward to having a meal at Chaumette. I don't want to get into the nitty gritty of it all, but what it boils down to is that the staff inside the Tasting Room/Grapevine Grill were rude, hostile and argumentative. I couldn't tell you the last time I've seen food service staff act so rudely...actually, I think it was at the Chesterfield McDonalds last year. So there you have it: the staff at Chaumette has the charm and grace of surly teenaged fast food employees. It is an absolute shame that a winery and restaurant with food and views this spectacular is staffed by people who are uncivil and boorish. Be warned that you are risking great disappointment if you travel out here expecting the service to match the views and food.

Chaumette is a gorgeous winery and popular wedding venue. I have only been here as a part of the Route du Vin wine tour which was called the Harvest Festival this year but has been the Wine Diva Weekend in the past. The tasting room also has a full restaurant and a bar. We had a semi dry white paired with a salad and goat cheese crostini which was delicious. They have a room attached by the bar which is their reception area i have eaten in during previous tours. The staff is very friendly and they display their wedding awards proudly. Great for beautiful photo ops!

Chaumette isn't too far from Crown Valley and is easy to find. It wasn't super crowded when I went on the Saturday after Christmas. I guess lots of people think wineries are for visiting in nice weather. This is not the case at all. I have more fun at wineries in cool fall or cold winter than any other time. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was a quaint chapel a short distance from the winery. The chapel is still in use for weddings and services. It's certainly worth walking up the hill to check it out. At the winery, I got my passport stamped, tried a couple of wines but didn't buy any, and was on my merry way. I'dl ike to come here again, but based on the reviews, I think I'll wait until it's really cold again so it might be slow. I received good service, though, and have no complaints. The bathroom was gorgeous and seemed especially clean! Lots of winery bathrooms aren't just unimpressive, but on the gross side. Chaumette seems to be a classy place.

Chaumette Winery in Ste. Genevieve County is a cool destination winery with two restaurants (one is poolside with spa menu), a spa (with couples massages), a wedding chapel, wine tasting room, lodges for rent, beautiful views, etc. and only 1.25 hour drive from St. Louis I recently visited on a weekday for lunch and it was delicious! I had the Coq au Vin and it was so fresh and tasty. My friend had a Croque Monsieur sandwich with homemade chips and we shared a grilled asparagus salad. It was all delish and we followed with peach bread pudding and a dessert wine from the vineyard, all while looking at a beautiful valley and spectacular view. While we were eating, the chef came out to snip fresh herbs from the herb garden that surrounded the restaurant. We toured the facility, including the spa, and followed with a tasting in the tasting room. Very nice! This is definitely a destination winery!

Amazing place! Service was great and understanding of our needs! The food was impeccable! I would definitely come back. A for sure 5 star for me!

Beautiful grounds! The food is good but a little pricey and just a little too gourmet for us. The views are awesome, the staff was friendly. We enjoyed tasting the wines but would've liked a palate cleanser in between. Great place for a get together with girlfriends. We enjoyed our visit.

The scenery is gorgeous and peaceful. But our villa was not. The bathtub was dirty upon our arrival, which is probably due to the fact that the tub does not drain properly. Within 30 seconds of showering, you are ankle deep in dirty water. The maintenance seems below average as every door squeaks and there were stains on several walls. The bed was adequately comfortable but the comforter was light and not the least bit soft. The television only started working after three restarts and once we finally unplugged it. For the price, these were all unexpected and unacceptable negative details during what should have been a romantic anniversary escape away.

This was my first official vineyard visit, and my real first experience sampling wine and learning the difference in the kinds. The day was hot however it didn't deter from my experience, and the delightfully wonderful view laid out before me. The wines we had were very tasty, and we purchased 3 bottles, we all decided to sit down and have lunch and despite the extremely too long of a wait for our food, it was very tasty and memorable. The girl working the counter and helping us with the tasting, was very friendly, and knew her wines and the all the information that comes with it. and the 3 bottles of wine we purchased are all incredibly delicious. I really enjoyed my first tasting and look forward to yet another delightful visit.

My group of friends had a disappointing experience last Saturday night. We made a reservation well in advance, but when we arrived we weren't seated in the restaurant but instead were sent to an overflow room. The room was loud, with two very large groups of clearly drunk people. The room was cold and unattractive. No windows, no decor. We waited over an hour for our food. Our server spent less than 5 minutes with our table and yet we were charged a 20% additional "gratutity" for our group. She did not earn that. We won't return to this venue.

Get ready for great wine and delicious food. The views from the patio in back are breath-taking this time of year. We kept it simple with lobster cakes and the garlic fries. Both were very satisfying. One of the better Vignoles we've tried in the region.

I have been here a couple times now and I love this place! NOTE that my GPS and iPhone maps app told me I "arrived" before the actual turn/sign to turn. So just keep going there will be signs to turn! :) Ste. Gen is full of wineries. I haven't been to them all but I have been to my fair share, for sure. Why does Chaumette stand out? The Customer Service!!! Can I get an "AMEN"?! The tasting crew and the owner, Ryan, seem to always be pleasant, understanding, calm, funny, and very attentive! Even when the place is packed. They greet you as you come in, they let you choose your seat on the outer patio area for picnickers (YES you can BRING IN YOUR OWN FOOD/waters in a cooler!!!) Or, you can be seated (with reservations (preferred)) on the inner covered patio area for the restaurant. They also have an inside restaurant area. But who wants to sit inside on a nice day at a winery? Not me. Second Visit on 8/17/14: After you are greeted, and set up your picnic extravaganza, (face it we always bring too much food) we headed back in for our wine tasting. ($5 for non wine club members - I will get to that later). They ask your preference of wines, sweet or dry and they base your tasting off of that. YAY! I don't have to taste wines I won't like! BUT... I did ask to sample one dry and he gladly washed out my glass and poured a sample. - no, I still did not like it. Oh well, I tried. There were quite a few that I liked! And we bought a couple of bottles. We were able to sample their Port -- FAB-U-LOUS! and they also showed us the difference in the flavors by giving us one dark chocolate M&M to eat and savor then taste again - WHOA - mind blowing. We ...egh hem... "I" brought up the wine club - bec I became a member on my first visit. And a friend seemed interested in joining. (I get a free bottle if she joins!) But really its a decent deal! You get two bottles every other month for $35/pick up or ~$40/delivery. You can join the dry or sweet club. I am a "sweetie" of course. But.... here is BONUS you get by being a member: Free wine tastings One Friend gets a free wine tasting Free use of the POOL. Yes I said pool. Its amazing. Free use of the spa showers/workout room/amenities 20% all gift shop items 20% off all wine purchases outside of the membership bottles SPA treatment discounts. and access to rent one of their privately owned Villas for a night or two. Other on-site amenities: The Barn - a venue used for weddings and parties. We were able to walk over and have a look as they were setting up for a party. Pretty awesome location and view!!!! white lights strung everywhere, classic barn wood charm, plenty of seating. Plenty of fans (its a barn, no air conditioning) Parking is a bit far, but they do have a few spots for handicap needs. (no this is not a commercial) I was just really impressed! So bottom line? YOU GET A BANG FOR YOUR BUCK HERE!

The shrimp appetizer is amazing. Also had the burger and gumbo. Delicious. My favorite dessert is the lemon blueberry cheesecake. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful vineyard, eccentric owners, and great food. After having toured their grounds multiple times, the Chaumette team seems to have a firm grasp on all aspects of the winemaking process. The best part of my experience with Chaumette has been, and will probably continue to be, dining at the highly-regarded tasting room. Fresh seafood, up-scale takes on down-home favorites, cuts of meat trimmed to perfection and cooked withing degrees of perfect temperature every time. My only conclusion about the Chaumette chef, other than that he is excellent, is that he is probably underpaid for someone with his talent. As far as the wine goes, you won't find any gimmicks at Chaumette. The wine isn't "French inspired" or "made in fine the tradition of *blank*," and it certainly doesn't need a large marketing team to popularize their brand. Chaumette wine stands on its own, towering above the competition in its quality. The only element saving Chaumette's competition from being driven out of the market is Chaumette's small production volume. They are clearly a major-league player who just prefers playing in the minors. ChUmette is epic. Worth the money and worth the drive every time.

Best wine in Missouri by far, and it has won many national and international awards. The food is better than any place in Saint Louis. I had a blast at the winemakers dinner; food was spectacular. The whole view is to die for. Overall, really great weekend getaway.

Visited late Saturday afternoon for a tasting and dinner. Wisely made a reservation for dinner as the place was hopping! Our tasting was really fun with the person guiding it really making it interesting by showing us the differences in the wines and even how different they taste chilled or not chilled. Our table was ready and waiting for us when we finished our tasting. We sat on the patio with a stunning view. We're not sure how they achieved this, but we were pleasantly surprised to not get eaten alive by mosquitos! We ordered two bottles based on our tasting, the Anrie and I can't recall the other's name. Many at our table started with the lobster bisque and no one was disappointed, smooth and creamy with rich lobster flavor. My husband and I each got flatbreads. Mine had Baetje farms goat cheese and was delicious but his BLT flatbread was definitely the winner. Luckily he shared with me. The rest of the table tried the pomme frites with aioli, crawfish etouffee, and really tasty looking bourbon steak. Great service, delicious food and wine with a stunning view!

First trip today to Ste. Gen wine country. My expectations weren't high, just was looking forward to the scenery and a bit of wine and cheese. Missouri wines typically lean towards the sweet side and most dry wines are very heavy (Norton). Chaumette changed my perception of that today. The whites and reds each had a number of delicious dry selections. On top of that the food menu was amazing. My wife and I lived in New Orleans for several years, and the BBQ shrimp appetizer here is on point. Great experience! Can't wait to visit again!!

It is a very nice winery. We just stayed here for a couple nights at the Villas which were really cute, but a bit pricey. We had dinner in the cellar room, which was ADORABLE. Very cozy and comfy. The food was AMAZING. We had fried chicken, mashed potates, and green beans with bacon and a really nice sauce. Although the menu was very simply, it was real comfort food and it was just really well done. DELISH. We attended a wedding at the Barn and it was magical! The event space is fabulous for weddings and formal affairs. It was a beautiful event space! Food was great! And the views of course are very pretty in this area!

Went there for my niece's wedding. Amazing experience all around. Beautiful scenery. Great property. Staff was courteous and helpful. Beth was on top of everything. Food was delicious! Stayed in on-site and the cabins are beautifully modern. Pool area is nice and open 24 hours. Would recommend for any excuse to get away!
