"Located at the end of a quiet pedestrian street in the busy city centre, this vegetarian restaurant crafts delicious, affordable Vietnamese nosh, such as braised eggplant with banana and green beans. The old colonial-style house sports a charming tree-lined patio, which provides the perfect foil to this fine dining experience. The small dining rooms are thoughtfully and attractively furnished and one boasts a colourful fresco." - Michelin Inspector

A truly elevated vegetarian experience in the heart of Saigon. It’s easy to see why Chay Garden earned its spot in the Michelin Guide. The atmosphere is a peaceful escape from the city’s bustle—I loved the colonial villa setting and the lush garden patio. Service was attentive and professional. It’s a bit pricier than your average local spot, but for the quality and ambiance, it’s worth every dong.

This is the best vegetarian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy amazing, delicious food. We enjoyed an authentic meal that was unusual for us, but very flavourful and tasty. There were soups made from lotus root and beetroot served in a coconut shell. The beverages made with beans were so sweet and wonderful! We spent a few hours in a relaxed, romantic ambience! This place is a vegetarian's paradise and well worth a visit for non-vegetarians too!

What an exceptional experience as a vegetarian to be able to dine at a restaurant and know that you can eat absolutely everything on the menu! Even better when absolutely anything you order is outstanding in flavour, texture and presentation. Chay Garden is a peaceful respite from busy Saigon streets. The atmosphere is soothing (think spa like environment), the staff are welcoming yet respectful and non invasive. This aside - the food is phenomenal ⭐️ We came twice during our stay, first lunch then the next day for dinner. The mix of colours, flavours, textures and food type… everything is culinary artwork. I would re-visit the city just to spend a week eating here to try everything on the menu. Your Michelin star is well deserved and should be sustained. Thank you for this memorable experience.

In short, the food is amazing, so tasty and flavourful and well presented and very generous portions. The atmosphere is relaxed, romantic, cultural and sophisticated - a really beautiful place to have lunch and the servers were very attentive to our needs. However, not wanting to distract from the beautiful meal we had.. the servers were a little 'too' attentive when clearing away our plates, they were a little eager and quick - just take it easy a little more please. Thank you 😊

This charming and elegant restaurant offers a delightful selection of comfort foods and beverages. I was excited to try the new flavors—Oolong tea with lotus seed and lemongrass, and a visually appealing dish called Garden Larb from the menu. Everything tasted wonderful, with dishes thoughtfully prepared with love and care. I'm absolutely sure I'll be returning next time I visit HCMC, as I truly enjoyed my experience here.

It was an extraordinary experience for me and my friend. We had Pad Thai, Red Curry, Signature Salad, and some drinks. Besides the quantity being too much, the taste, quality, texture, and the presentation impressed us very much. The staff was very kind and the service was quite fast. We would highly recommend trying this place when someone is in Ho Chi Minh City. Over all, it was an unforgettable experience for me and my friend. We enjoyed the evening very well in the restaurant.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Chay Garden is hands down one of the best vegetarian restaurants I’ve been to in Saigon. The variety here is incredible—you can taste dishes made from so many different vegetables, each prepared with creativity and care. From braised eggplant to fresh taro mushroom salad, grilled skewers, and even a flavorful vegetarian hotpot, every plate feels both wholesome and delicious. I especially loved the buffet in Thảo Điền—small portions served round by round so you can try a wide range of dishes without feeling heavy. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. Drinks and dessert are included too, which makes it an excellent value. The atmosphere is calm and elegant, with a touch of garden zen that makes the whole experience relaxing. Staff are friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the menu or suggest favorites. Even if you’re not vegetarian, you’ll walk away impressed by how flavorful and satisfying the food is. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.

The restaurant is tucked away in a small alley, but it is certainly worth visiting. I particularly loved the setting with the exception of mosquito’s around dusk, so consider long pants & sleeves. The food was very good and the portion sizes are large. The menu has many options to choose from and the staff is attentive and courteous. We eat dinner around 5:00pm and the restaurant was empty. It was filling up as we finished, so that may be something to consider.
