Chaya 1899 Tokyo

In the base of a hotel. The server was lovely and helpful as we weren’t sure which type of matcha to order. Nice and quiet. We only stopped quickly but could be a nice laptop spot if they permit. Lots of matcha treats too but we didn’t try. Alternative milk’s available.

I ordered the Iced Rich Matcha Latte No. 6 (¥770). The matcha was a beautiful, rich green, but for some reason all I could taste was milk, even though I mixed the drink well. However, the worker was very friendly and bubbly, so I enjoyed the service. The other patrons at this time were eating, so maybe the food is better.

The matcha here is delicious and the staff is super friendly and attentive! I accidentally spilled half of my matcha and they were so understanding and even made me a new one. I didn't even expected it, since it was my own fault. We enjoyed breakfast here for 6 days with vegetarian and vegan options. Would come again anytime!

Pretty cafe serving good food! The curry rice was delicious - though the curry isn't Japanese curry. The matcha latte was great too! Would love to try the parfait next time

Great matcha cafe on the first floor of 1899 Tokyo in Shimbashi. Simple minimalist decor, with matcha and tea related trinkets. Very nice and friendly staff. Tasty drinks with varying degrees of matcha intensity.

We were staying at this hotel and we knew about this cute cafe on the ground level. We decided to try it before we checked out. We went to the cafe at noon and it was quiet right before the lunch hour. A lot of locals came here for lunch. We ordered some drinks and some matcha desserts. They were good and the prices weren't too bad. If you are staying at this hotel I would recommend to try the cafe. Also they have a proper tea service on the 2nd floor. Too bad we didn't have time to try that.

Great matcha tea inspired cafe. We got some matcha latte and hot matcha tea and both were really good. The desserts were good too. A red bean filled matcha bread and custard made in Japan.

Cute ambiance, the music is great and lots of light. Simple and modern vibes. They only have matcha latte (hot or cold), not matcha by itself. The matcha cake is really good. If you buy matcha cake with matcha latte, you get 100 yen discount. They also have gluten-free brownies for takeaway in several different flavors.
