"Chaya Venice has some significant changes at its Westside location. The 25-year-old restaurant got a big, bold new look about 18 months ago, and now the culinary team is ready to switch up the menu into something new entirely. Chaya Venice is now Chaya Modern Izakaya, leaning less on its crispy tuna rice, rolls, and raw bar, and more on meat skewers over fire." - Farley Elliott

Food was good quality. The designs of the food was a little over the top for my style but it did taste great. The portions were a little on the smaller side, which was slightly disappointing. Staff was helpful with accommodating my small family (wife and a baby in her stroller.) The wait time wasn't too bad but we did go on a Sunday early afternoon. Seated rather quickly in fact! The bar area was a good size high chairs and also regular tables too.

Had their dine LA lunch menu for $25 pp. Place is trendy with a fusion Japanese taste. They have sushi chef to make 🍣 at the bar. I wasn't full after the meal though.

Detailed and sophisticated ambiance, very cool and fancy upscale place, few dishes on the menu, I had cucumber and avocado rolls, tasty and good as they are supposed to be. Then I had the vegan option, not really sure of what it was, nice plate presentation but way too salty. The lentils were really good though and so the pieces of undefined sweet potatoes that I still think they could have been pieces of roasted pumpkin.. but good flavor in those. Then I ordered a miso soup only because I saw other people having that, it wasn't on the menu or if it was there I didn't see. Fancy miso soup, gorgeous chunks of tofu in it but either the thousands miso soup I had in my life they were not the real deal and this instead was, or simply this didn't taste like miso at all. I don't know, it was hot and good but it was too red, kinda too tomato-y looking... But then again I could be wrong and this one could have been the real deal. Staff was welcoming, there were people checking on you and I appreciate that my server instead he was a little bit too much on the rush front, place was getting crowded I know but he didn't take the time for me to experience all, he actually put in front of me the dessert menu while still chewing food. Mh... Still Chaya deserves 5 stars cause the place is really cool.

One of the best ramen I’ve ever had (including in Tokyo). It’s different, but it’s well balanced, with interesting flavor and broth you want to drink (as should be with ramen) 🍜 Cocktails are interesting and good (maybe a bit too straight forward at times), Sapporo on draft. And great, friendly service, no rush! Plus, you get happy hour prices at the bar every day, all day! Sashimi is good too, and the spicy salmon roll tastes nice of fresh chili/serrano 🌶 And, do try the tofu with miso! But don’t forget the ramen 🍜

Came in DinaLA. $25 3 courses. The soup is good. Meat is tasty but a bit too oily for me. Dessert is so-so.

Amazing happy hour all night. Great Lychee Martini and Yuzu Margarita. Their bar menu was our favourite and went for second round!

I'm gonna skip to dessert. Forget anything before that and save some room for the bread pudding. That was bomb! :) I also had some kind of chocolate cake which I loved too. I'm very particular with my desserts. I was raised in France so I know my desserts well. Desserts should be flavorful, but not too sweet. Both desserts I tried was just on point. I would have wanted more if I wasn't already full. The main courses were delicious too. I was invited here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Every plate I tried tasted fresh and delicate. This is a higher-end restaurant so don't expect big plates but focus on the flavor. If you do, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
