Chayz Lounge

This was our first time going, I made the reservations for my husband's birthday. The only reason why I didn't give it five stars is because we didn't get to hear the jazz band. Something happened and they couldn't make it. I was really disappointed because that was the reason I wanted to go. However, the owner gave us her card and told us to contact her the next time we come to Columbia and she would give us tickets to one of their shows. The food was GREAT!! We had the Grits with Wings, French Toast with Wings, Chayz Mocktail Fruit Punch and the Red Velvet Cheesecake. The Grits were INCREDIBLE!!! The overall atmosphere was great, the staff and owner Ms. Chayz were great and friendly! We will definitely be going back!!

I had an amazing time for my first visit and I'll definitely be back. The crab cakes were DELICIOUS and were basically all crab meat and the salmon and grits dish was just as good. The vibe was calm and chill with live saxophone music accompanying old-school and 90's R&B. The waitress was kind, thoughtful and checked on us often and they give everyone sanitizer as they walk in (a huge plus and tells me they value cleanliness). This is for sure one of my new favorite places in Columbia.

I took my husband to Chayz Lounge for his birthday. We had a great time. The atmosphere, food, service, and music were on point. We loved that the owner visited each table and greeted customers. We will be back.

Love chayz lounge only thing this last visit no live music but the AV smooth jazz Music was nice! Food is superb!

On November 15, 2025 at 8:00 PM, I had the absolute pleasure of attending Chaye Alexander Presents: A Soulful Birthday Soirée at Chayz Lounge—and what a night it was! From start to finish, the evening was filled with soul, style, and the timeless party anthems of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It truly felt like a fantastic voyage through the music of legends like Kool & The Gang, Zhané, Rick James, D’Angelo, Maxwell, and more. A major highlight of the night was the unforgettable surprise appearance by Meli’sa Morgan. She graced the room with a heartfelt birthday serenade for Chaye Alexander, then blessed us with her iconic hit “Fool’s Paradise.” The entire lounge was electric—an experience none of us will soon forget. The ambience was incredible—warm, stylish, intimate—everything you want for a grown and soulful night out. The food and drinks were equally exceptional. I ordered the Louisiana-Influenced Salmon & Grits, and it was absolutely delicious: a perfectly broiled 8 oz. salmon fillet over creamy stone-ground grits, topped with fresh tomato, red onion, parsley, and a blend of smoked Gouda and Cheddar Jack cheeses. Pure perfection! I paired it with Vellamo Spring Water and the Cherry Ginger Spritzer, a sweet, tart, bubbly mocktail with a zesty kick that delivered full flavor without the spirits. Both were refreshing and delightful. I attended with my line sisters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated—Zeta Theta Chapter, Fall ‘95 “The Seven Images of Finesse.” We celebrated our 30th Sigmaversary at Chayz Lounge, and it could not have been a more perfect backdrop for such a meaningful milestone. The atmosphere, the music, the service, and the overall experience made our reunion truly special. Chayz Lounge continues to set the standard for sophisticated entertainment, outstanding cuisine, and unforgettable experiences. This place was awesome. Had a great vibe to it and enjoyed the food. The live entertainment was great. My wife and I attended the New Year's Eve event and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Chayz for the experience.

Heard about Chayz for a long time and finally had an opportunity to try it out. Small spot that brings in great talent. Cozy, intimate ambiance, great wait staff and excellent food choices. The owner is very hands on and makes sure everyone is having a good time. This was my 1st time here, but definitely won't be my last.

Beautiful venue and the vibes are immaculate but man oh man do they nickel and dime you. Grant it, it's told plain as day on the website that there is a min per person charge required at each table, on top of the ticket you bought for the show. However I went on a Thursday and least there was no cover charge like it is Friday-Sunday. I opted to not get alcohol and got a sweet tea thinking surely it would be refills. The waitress told me only free refills they do is on ice. I've never been anywhere where at least tea and soft drinks don't come with free refills. The food is definitely not cheap for small portions, however it was literally some of the best food I've had. I got the shrimp and crab dip ($21)....chefs kiss, and then ordered the garlic parm wings well done. They were so flavorful and crispy, truly delish but 6 wings for $17 is a huge stretch, but I guess this is the times we're living in.

We thoroughly enjoyed Chayz lounge last night. The food was fresh, delicious and prepared perfectly. The musicians were over-the-top talented. The lounge was filled to capacity and was rocking. Chayz lounge is an intimate venu! We have been many times and always had fun and plan to return!

This was a fun evening out for jazz in an intimate setting. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our food. We were greeted by the owner as we walked in and had our choice of tables. I will definitely be back!!

Came here for my birthday. My cousin has been here before and offered this place as an option for something to do. Because I have never been to a jazz lounge, I was excited to try it out. We purchased our tickets online. You have to place an order for $15 or be charged a fee. They also add gratuity upfront. This place is very adult. The lounge is very intimate. It may have been about 40 people in here. I ordered the braised beef ribs and they were delicious. Seasoned well! Being honest, I think the food is a little overpriced, but I would return.

Chayz Lounge is a hidden gem for Jazz lovers! The ambience is intimate and inviting,the food is delicious and the service is top notch. The highlight for Thursday night was David Glymph on the saxophone, his performance was simply outstanding and made the evening unforgettable.A must visit spot for a fun night out!

I've heard nothing but great things about Chayz lounge and was really looking forward to the jazz brunch. I even attended with my guest who has dined there before and spoke very highly of them. I cannot believe that I'm giving this place a three star rating because of the service. Service is above everything and if it wasn't for the nice atmosphere, the amazing music, and the good tasting food I would probably be rating it even lower. We made reservations for a table for two and was seated promptly. There were a couple of waitresses who passed by us for several minutes and no one came over to say hi or that they would be with us soon for 15 whole minutes. Finally, after 20 minutes had passed, we were able to place our order. We ordered a carafe of mimosa and food order at the same time. Then Mimosa came out immediately and then we waited, waited, and waited for our food. We were enjoying drinks and conversing for a while but notice that other people around us received their food already who had came in after us. Once we looked at the clock we noticed that it had been 30 minutes since we had placed our order. We flagged down our waitress and she said she would check on it. She came back to tell her that my order was ready but not my guest's. She asked if I wanted to go ahead and receive my order or wait and I said yes I would like to receive my order because I do not want my salmon to get cold. 10 more minutes pass and my order has not come out. We flagged a waitress down again and she said she would check on it. She came back with my order and said that the steak which was the second order would take some time because there's only one person cooking in the back. My guest mentioned that it was now 40 minutes since the order was originally placed. The waitress stated that it takes awhile because it is made to order. Well, when she placed her order she asked that it be medium well and the waitress stated that all states were cooked well done. So it was not made to order. It was made the way you guys wish to cook it. 25 more minutes passed before she received her meal. It took them over an hour to get a meal to a guest when all the other tables were enjoying their meals and many came in after us. NOT.GOOD.AT.ALL!!! Also, remember we were a party of two. Well prior to receiving our food we became a party of three without any notice. The young man in my last photo came over and took a seat. He was told there was an extra seat at our table and he could sit there. He shows up and we asked if he was taking the chair and that's how we were informed that he was sitting with us. Not once did someone come over to make us aware of this or even asked if we were okay with this. What the?

ChayzLounge is a very relaxed and quaint atmosphere, where you can wine down, chill and enjoy the music, while indulging in great food and great conversation. The ambiance is so soothing to the soul. And did I say the food? Excellent. The staff serves you with enthusiasm and makes sure you're satisfied. The owner, Ms. Chaye Alexander is an awesome person. She goes to each table to ensure that you are well pleased with your experience. I frequent her establishment. I just love ChayzLounge and will continue to support her in her endeavors, because whatever she puts in her mind to do, watch out!! It turns into something great. Come on out and see for yourselves. The food was amazing! We each ordered something different. Crab Cakes, Shrimp Alfredo and braised beef short ribs. Everything was hot to the table. The service was on point. From the food to our drinks. If you like to go out and have a great time, and sit back and enjoy fantastic music, this is the place. The people and atmosphere does not disappoint.

Chayz Lounge is awesome. The decor is really nice. Excellent food & service. The individuals serving are awesome. Location is perfect! The entertainment is superb! Great taste in artist selection. This is the only place of its kind in Columbia! Would recommend to everyone.

I absolutely love Chayz lounge. It was a great experience. From booking a reservation to ordering food, and the hostess and entire staff was excellent. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun brunch date with friends or day date. The music elevated the experience. The food was sooo good and as you can see it was a lot. Will be going back.

This was a very nice club and amazing food selection with great presentation and flavor. Listen I only went to this event at this lounge because the flyer said dress code with grown and sexy in the title. But Im so glad I went because I had the best time talking relaxing and listening to some of the best jazz I have heard in a long time. I wish we had one of these lounges in Augusta Ga.

Really enjoyed it here! As soon as you enter (go through the door adjacent to the rear of the parking lot) you are greeted by a concierge - this particular night it was the owner Chay - who tells you what table/area you've been assigned, then you're introduced to a very welcoming decor and ambience. We were a party of 4, there on the free night (two drink minimum, naturally), whereas other nights the tickets are about $25+. The drinks vary and there's more than enough for any descriminating drinker or tee-toller. The food selections are just alright. As a vegetarian, only the salad was appealing to me, and it was very good. The jazz band that night was fantastic, playing jazz renditions of popular r&b and soul music. We were jammin, and the table diagonal from us were singing out loud, in a good way (they had better voices than us!) I prefer that it's intimate as I'm not a big fan of huge, loud venues. Definitley looking forward to returning!

The best- prepared salmon I have had in a while. Meaning seared but not dry. Excellent fish and so well- cooked I didn't want to add any of the dill sauce although I did to taste it. I had a biscuit on the side that was also perfect and fresh. Came here with our son graduating from college. We had a carafe of mimosa for $26. Excellent coffee (American). Shirley temple. Not for children, as bar area opens to room. But not a bar ambiance. We came after church Sunday. We also had the Salmon BLT excellent; Bacon bowl over grits-- very tasty. Shrimp creole bowl that was over grits and medium spicy. Lovely welcome and relaxing environment. We were able to talk and listen. Since we all loved our food we did a lot of listening at that point. I so enjoyed a place that really cares about the service and experience. And has enough service to make a good experience. We never had to call our waitress as she was always checking in. MANY choices for non-alcoholic drinks versions. Very filling plates. Great desserts. Wait staff friendly, attentive, and kind. We used Yelp to sign in to add our name to waitlist.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience the food the staff the music and everything about this jazz lounge it was so worth the hour and a 1/2 drive from Charlotte North Carolina to Columbia South Carolina I would gladly do it again. The crab cakes were delicious and meaty and full of crab and there was a sauce to dip it in That was absolutely outstanding. My companion had the shrimp at grits and let's just say he did not raise his head no I no I take that back he did raise his head but only long enough to ask John our waiter for a spoon to get the rest of everything that was in the plate. John our waiter was kind, thoughtful and very attentive and explain things on the menu and that on the weekends you can only get wine and beer related items, I made sure to order the peach Bellini and the mimosa carafes We had an opportunity to speak to the owner and she issured us that the place sells out every weekend I am looking forward to coming back again and again to enjoy the experience. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: there is an automatic 15% gratuity added to all bills that is split between the bar and staff...so if you wish to tip your server it will be an additional tip. So please factor that into your service as the staff works hard and they work together like a family

A well hidden modern day Speakeasy located in the heart of Weco. We enjoyed a fantastic evening with delicious food served by elite servers in a beautiful setting listening to the sounds of Dick Goodwin presents the Big Band Experience. A truly memorable evening!

I celebrated my birthday here this year and it was absolutely fantastic! The lounge is located off of Meeting st with parking at the location. The crowd was nice and diverse which I loved! There's a grown and sexy vibe with very comfortable feel. The exposed ceiling are beautiful! And the place overall was extremely clean and welcoming! The owner greeted us and made us feel so welcomed. Such great hospitality skills! I got the gourmet meatballs, one bestie got the pan seared salmon and the other one got a flatbread pizza.. everything was delicious and the garlic bread that comes with the meatballs was amazing! The band was PHENOMENAL! We sung along all night! You should definitely wear your dancing shoes because the band will have you grooving!

My first time here, visiting with my best friend. This is her favorite place, the drinks, food and ambiance is amazing. The service is great as well. My only complaint is I wish it was bigger, I understand why though quaint setting makes it more personable. The menu items are very tempting as well I had the Chayz house salad with a breezin cocktail both delicious.

I've been to Chayz twice, in August and December '22. I have no complaints about either time. The vibe is sophisticated and laid back. There is a dress code and tip is included in the price, well worth it. The live music is always a hit. Their shrimp and grits(no pork or beef) are the best I've ever had. I always have to take some home since the portion size is massive. The wait staff is friendly and available. The drinks are strong and affordable. Definitely would recommend and can't wait to return there myself.

A hidden gem just outside the city. I went to see live jazz. The food was delicious and they have a variety of options for you to choose from. I felt welcomed from the moment I went inside. The service is quick and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I will be back when I'm in town.

My friend and I went there the shrimp and grits usually be really good.This time there were extra spicy.So I ask the waiter can I get something different and take it off my bill.She asked the owner Chaz and said said no.And she told me to tell me she seen the grits on the menu.She wouldn't give me me grits or give me something different .I will never go there again now tell me how much is grits Pennie Very disappointed with her .

This is a very intimate venue with talented shows throughout the year. Every time we have made reservations it has been positive. I highly recommend this place to friends and family. If you want to grown-up experience with great music and courteous staff, this is your place.

Went for the first time this week and had a great time. The jazz band was fantastic, they played the jazz version of a lot of popular songs. The servers were great, super attentive, and looked like they enjoyed working there.

Chayz Lounge is a very nice & quaint place to go to enjoy some great Jazz Music and some amazing food. The atmosphere is so cozy but yet festive. It's really beautifully decorative as well.

A lovely and quaint jazz lounge experience for grown folks. The service is prompt, the food is delicious, and the intimate performance venue allows you to be up close and personal to singers, musicians, poets, and more! Highly recommend and always look forward to our next date night there!

Wow, such a lovely romantic spot in my city!! You can order dinner and have drinks at this location, they are in the back of Nonnah's restaurant (I will review food under Nonnah's)! We walked in a Chayz and staff was very attentive at all times. The place is nicely decorated along with the lovely lighting. Nate Myers was the artist last night, we really enjoyed his music and the band!! Alot of people were celebrating different events and danced the night away. We had a lovely evening and Yes we will be regulars at Chayz Lounge!! Thanks for bringing this venue to Columbia.... Tip: Free parking in the back close to the Art Bar

Very great atmosphere, great music and great food. Little on the expensive side, especially the drinks. Overall it's a great place to go. Almost forgot the staff is very friendly and professional.

I had a great time here. Went to a jazz after five on a Thursday night and the rob trio band was playing. I wanted something light and this seafood/crawfish dip was delish. I'm not actually sure of the name but show the server my picture, Lolol! I'm also not sure what the name is this adult beverage is, but when I was deciding on what to drink, I scanned the room and almost every woman in the room was drinking this beverage and now I know why! Lol! It was refreshing, not too strong and not too light and the Blend of colors are very photogenic. The owner made sure I was comfortable (I was here on a solo date experiment with myself lol) and I thought that was a huge plus. If you single, hanging with friends, or need something relaxing to do with your partner/spouse, this is the place to be for good food and good music. Tickets can be purchased through event brite (some free and some charges a fee)

The food, ambiance, and service of this place are amazing. We were greeted by the beautiful owner of the establishment for our 12:30 reservation. She gave us the option of a couch for two or table, we originally opted for the cozy couch but after seeing several plates pass by for other tables, we asked to be reseated at a table so that we could dig into the delicious morsels because the food smelled heavenly. They graciously moved us to an open table. The menu had some great options available (please see pictures of the menu). We started off with the lump crabcakes that were so meaty and full of flavor, and when you add the dipping sauce, well, just be ready to just say hmmm because they were so good. I ordered the French toast with bacon and added a side of eggs and seasoned breakfast potatoes. My husband opted for the steak, eggs, and grits. The French toast was fluffy inside, crispy on the outside with maple and cinnamon flavors with yummy maple syrup. I have a bit of a sweet tooth, but this was neither too sweet nor super sugary. They were among some of the best I've had. The steak was well seasoned and well cooked, full of flavor, tender. He devoured pretty much everything, while I opted to save some to savor the following day because it was just that good. The grits were the best we have had , creamy and full of flavor. Shea, our server, was amazing. She was attentive without being overly intrusive, allowing us to enjoy our food and vibe of the room and still make sure our glasses were full and we didn't need anything additional. The saxophonist played during the brunch. It was a great variety of old school classics that kept me humming, singing, tapping my feet and chair dancing the entire time we were there. We enjoyed it so much that we were there until the brunch service ended. The owner came around to all the tables to ensure we had a wonderful experience, which was a wonderful touch towards the end of the brunch service. We also had an opportunity to meet the chef as well. We can't wait to try dinner service. Definitely book in advance as brunch service seems to sell out frequently. Definitely mature , family, and couple vibe during brunch serving. Food 10/10, service 10/10 , vibe/atmosphere 10/10 .. Can't wait to experience it again.

Chayz Lounge is the epitome of a smooth Lounge the atmosphere is mature, adult style the food has always exceeded taste and presentation. The wholesomeness starts at the door with Miss Alexander herself, and it continues with the staff.

Absolutely, positively charming. So clean, the staff is nice and Chay met us personally. We were spaced apart, we wore masks and everyone had a great time. Friends, 1st time date or whatever - u can have a relaxing evening while carrying on a conversation.

My wife and I went to Chayz Lounge based on a recommendation provided by a friend. The location didn't disappoint. We went to see Brandon Stevens Presents The Songs of Soul and found ourselves singing along to some of our favorite songs. The entertainment was electric, the staff was great and the owner greeted every patron. Excellent spot for those looking for a date night or just some smooth music & good eats.
