"Family-run Che! Empanada serves more than a dozen types of flavorful baked Argentine empanadas. Beef clásico and spicy chicken are customer favorites, though Che! offers several vegetarian options as well. A few of these well-stuffed pockets make a perfect lunch, dinner, or midday snack. Enjoy them warmed up with a side of housemade regular or spicy chimichurri. Check out their sibling location in Worcester." - Carolyn Grillo

Google
Amazing accidental find on our part. We did not set out to find this amazing Argentinian empenada café, but we are so happy we did. There were over 20 different types of empenada still available that day with some varieties already sold out, vegetarian, beef, pork, and chicken; multiple types of each. Plus very friendly and accommodating staff and fast service. Food was delicious.

I’m planning an informal gathering at Che Empanada for NNHS alum and to support the owner who is also a NNHS alum. I decided it’d be a good idea to find out where this place actually was and to try the food. I ordered one of each empanada to bring to my family. Wow! The empanadas are so flavorful and I believe they’re baked. They heat up very well and the chimichurri sauce was perfect with the beef empanadas. The service was excellent and the store has three small tables inside and three small tables outside when the weather is nice. Truly worth a visit. I can’t wait to return in July for this gathering.

Google
Delicious empanadas. I’ve only ever had an empanada from here so my review will objectively come to you from a more subjective stance. The service is always welcoming and helpful. The owner works here on a regular basis, which is always reassuring to see when a business owner upkeeps their business. I have gotten so many of their empanadas, so I’d recommend them all, contingent on your preference of protein or flavor profile. As far as seating, there isn’t much, hence the 3 star.

I wanted tot eh this cute little Argentine store since I heard about it from fam. Of course I ordered two empanadas. One was La Che and Spicy Chorizo. Both were delicious especially with the spicy chimichurri! We decided to take several more for dinner as well as chocolate dulce de leche! Update: The chocolate dulce de leche was delicious

Popped in randomly on a Wednesday and asked for a few recommendations. The best ones were the short rib one, the beef classico and the spicy chicken. The pastry is so soft and fresh and the fillings are super flavorful. And friendly service, too!

Went here with a friend to grab a few empanadas for lunch. I had tried Pikalo earlier in the week, which I really liked, so I had high expectations. The place is relatively small, so takeout is probably better. I like that they wrote what we got on the inside of the takeout box. They also heated up the empanadas for us. There were many options. We got the Classic Beef, Three Cheese Onion, Spinach, Che, and Chicken Mushroom. These came with chimichurri sauce, both spicy and not spicy. The empanadas were small (half the size of what I got at Pikalo) and a bit pricey for the size. All of them tasted pretty average. I don't think there was a standout for me or my friend.

I was in the area and looked on Google maps for a quick lunch. This popped up, I’ve never even heard of an empanada but it sounded good. Got a beef and a pork, and she gave me some yummy hot sauce to go with it. Loved it, I’m so glad I went!

Get the dulce de leche cake! It will change your life. Everything we’ve tried is delicious! It’s clean and bright and the service is kind and helpful… even with my crazy kids being loud!

Yelp
Haven't gotten a chance to go in person yet, but we had a small variety of empanadas and we loved. Will definitely go here/order again. We had: Chicken Classico Beef Tango Chicken and Mushroom Spicy Chicken

Yelp
Love these Argentinian empanadas! The shop is small but they have TONS of different kinds of empanadas to chose from. Im a savory person and my fiance is a sweet person so I tried the Beef Clásico which had ground angus beef, onions, red bell peppers, scallions & egg. He tried the Beef Criolla which had ground angus beef, onions & raisins. Both were super delicious! Looking forward to trying more.

Yelp
Fourth visit here for lunch. I get the three for $12.99 special. Fresh fillings with a nice bite on the crusts. Friendly service, small place but can sit inside or out. Shall return.

Yelp
I came to this place because I went to Grandma's Kitchen (few doors down) and the wait for food was soooo long despite calling in ahead of time. I was glad to see several new restaurants opened on this block. Ambiance: This place is pretty small but very cozy and looks clean and bright. Its a comfortable place for very small parties to dine in, but there is also a table right outside. The display showing all the empanadas had labels telling you the name of each, but it was hard to decipher what was inside (to me). Pricing: Reasonable. Check the little blackboard on the right side. I took the 3 piece combo for $12.99. Empanadas were decently sized for the price and a 3 pack would make a nice meal for someone. Food: I asked what was popular and the messi was something new. Its beef and onions inside and to us, tasted like a steak and cheese. It was the best one. I also had a spicy churro, but it tasted similar and I can't really tell the difference or distinguish the two. I also got the classic chicken and that was dry and not good. I wouldn't recommend that one but the other 2 were good. I wished they had a plain one with just chicken and cheese inside. Many of the options seems to say onions and peppers, so if you like that stuff, then you'll have plenty of options. If you're with someone that likes plain-er food or are picky eaters then this is something to consider. Service: Very friendly from the single person running the show. She was communicative - greeted me and offered to help pick out what I wanted. She offered to heat up my empanandas, which only took 40 seconds. Parking: Plenty of street parking outside.

Yelp
Definitely very fresh empanadas. I got a beef one, a creamy chicken one, and also a chorizo empanada. The baked breading texture on the outside was very nice, appropriately browned, balancing out the more flavorful insides. I found all the flavors a bit too salty, but that's just my taste. I also had a bit of a hard time distinguishing the chorizo from the beef. The interior is well decorated and looks like a nice place to chill out.

Yelp
Wow - so delicious! The caprese was my favorite - the flavor, freshness, and dough were fantastic. Spicy Chicken was next. Chorizo a super tasty third, and I didn't try the Beef Mesi but my friend claimed it to be his favorite of the four. Stellar crew, too! Everyone was kind, enthusiastic, and gave great suggestions. I will be back soon and frequently. Yum!

Yelp
Sweet business with assorted amount of empanadas. It is a cute place to take a break and sit down for a snack. Ideally you can buy a bunch of these for party if you don't feel like cooking. My favorite was the mushroom chicken, but they have a variety of mix fillings with beef and some vegetarian, some desserts.

Yelp
At a loss for words. I entered the building. The smells, spices, meats, culinary heaven!!!

Yelp
First off staff of place were very inviting and warm. Empanadas were out of this world. Not to be biased I love Argentine Empanadas the best so far, because it has a variety of flavor bursts that runs through your mouth. Its even better with chimichurri sauce. When there don't forget to try the Alfajors. They are home made and better than the boxed versions. They have locations in North Newton, Kelly Square in Worcester, and a second off Lincoln Street and a fourth in Central Square Cambridge. Please come to greater Lowell area !!

Yelp
Wonderful find. A GREAT counter-service restaurant with excellent empanadas - the spicy ones are great. We take our orders to go but there are a few tables to dine in if you like. Service was excellent - the staff stayed after hours to accommodate us picking up an excellent dinner. Do yourself a favor and get a couple of the spicy chicken empanadas.

Yelp
Amazing tasty empanadas Must try Come with a sweet toothy as well since the deserts all look great. Had one

Yelp
Cute local business-I hear they just opened, congratulations on the new store. I was visiting my in-laws who live in the area and we stopped by for a quick bite to eat. We were a large-ish group of 8, and the owner was very kind and brought out a few extra chairs for us (there is indoor and outdoor seating.) Head up to the front and let your eyes be delighted by the different types of empanadas- I think there were about 15 different types! They even had a few veggie options (which was perfect because we had a vegan in our group). I tried the classic beef and the criolla- both were packed with meat and spices and were delicious! I especially enjoyed the criolla, the raisins added a sweetness that complemented the ground beef. Definitely recommend asking them to heat it up for you. Also know that if you buy in bulk, its a better deal (which won't be hard, you'll be wanting to try all of them!)

Yelp
Friendly local biz! Highly recommend the cheesy versions that look more like a quiche (e.g., ham and cheese, spinach and cheese). The chicken empanada was tastier than the ground beef.

Yelp
You can tell that this place was built with so much love. Cute and thoughtful details, lots of great South American snacks, clean lines and friendly service. Definitely check it out!!

Yelp
My son and I tried the Newton location tonight and loved every single bite. The service was quick and friendly. We got 6 empanadas total and cannot decide which ones we liked best. They were all so flavorful and amazing. We will definitely be coming back for more!

Yelp
Someone shared an empanada savory and sweet and I HAD to get more!!! They will heat your order while you wait or set you up like my picture for heating at home :)

Yelp
Authentic, delicious empanadas. We've traveled and eaten throughout Argentina and these are indeed "just like home." A real find for the area. Albie (owner) is wonderful to work with for catering.

google avatar

Yelp
Amazing! Everything was fresh and delicious. You'll want about 2-3 per person, which lets you sample their fantastic array of flavors. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Excellent food and friendly service. The empanadas are incredibly flavorful, taste fresh, and are well-priced. Have tried to twice and will go back again and again!

Yelp
Nice local and family owned place. It does truly remind you of a nice home made empanadas. The service is super friendly and and I'll for sure be coming back for more Empanadas!!

Carlos D.

Yelp
The best empanadas in New England! No only the empanadas are outstanding but also the owners and employees are very kind

Danielle G.

Yelp
Very cute new spot with warm and efficient service and yummy empanadas! Definitely worth a stop!

Allegra S.

Yelp
It was ok. Not in a hurry to go back. The dough was good but the fillings were lackluster. A little pricey.

John O.

Yelp
Food was really, really good. Service was good too. Good range of options with non judgy guidance on what was authentic and what was a local tweak to the customary. Try the desserts! Would definitely go back.

Nancy H.

Yelp
Deliscious, great variety, super helpful and nice staff. Loved the empanadas and the argentinian cookies for dessert !
