Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs

11/23/25: I don't know what I like better: the sammies or the huge Rice Krispy treats. :-) I haven't been to Cheba in years, mostly because I try to avoid the ASU area when school is in session, but this particular day I wanted a great sandwich, from somewhere not overly franchised (such as Jimmy John's or Jersey Mike's). Cheba did not disappoint. I had the Pakalolo & it was just as delicious as I remembered from years ago. A couple weeks later we didn't feel like making dinner, so we stopped in again; this time I ordered the 5-0. Once again, another delicious sandwich. From the decor to the food, to the staff, Cheba Hut is a delight.

I’m so disappointed! This used to be my favorite sub shop. They’ve gone down hill and the prices skyrocketed! I ordered my usual sub and dismissed the high price due to inflation, but what I got was a sorry disappointment. They used to fill the subs with veggies but it was so small and had hardly any veggies; one sad tomato a few pieces of lettuce, a tiny bit of feta… no black olives, no mushrooms, no pickles. All of which were supposed to come on the sandwich. I sure got cheated and I needed to doctor the sub when I got home. I definitely would have gone back to the counter to speak with a manager, but I ordered to go. I advise anyone ordering here to open their sub and check to make sure the sub is made right.

In Tempe on business and decided to come here for lunch .. staff was friendly and helpful as he describe a couple of subs for me to consider .. decide on a couple of 4in "Nugs", the AK-47 anf Midwest Best .. both tasted good but I like the Midwest Best more .. positive dining experience

Got a 12 inch $17.00. My half had a slice of tomato and non existent avocado, plenty of lettuce to make it pretty. In this economy so many other places to go for a decent sandwich at $17. Maybe go lighter on the ingredients, some ppl love bread and lettuce anyway lol

I ordered a build your own sandwich with turkey lettuce and tomatoes and requested extra vegetables but ended up with only a single tomato sliced in half on each portion. For $18 and change. I honestly can’t possibly understand what would make someone think that is okay to serve.

Great food, the pizza sub and pretzel bite were perfect and hot. Came out sooner than expected and beat my expectations!!!!! Highly recommend.

I love Cheba Hut... That's why this location was such a disappointment. The wife and I thought it would be a great day to grab some cheba Hut subs and go walk around the park and sit by the lake and have a quick impromptu picnic. Cheba Hut seemed like the perfect lunch option. Normally we go to the location in downtown Phoenix and they are always on point! Since we were going to Kiwanis Park, we went to the one in Tempe and that turned out to be a mistake. The staff and service was not good - not bad, they were kind of just there. Not really extra friendly but not rude. All together undermarkable. The subs however, were quite the disappointment. It says right there in the name that they're toasted subs - but I feel like maybe they just waved our subs in front of the warmers for 2 seconds or something because neither one was toasted or even barely warm. Of course we didn't know this till we got to the lake so that was extra disappointing. Plus they didn't get the cheese order right on my wife's sub. I mean in the universe and even in life, none of that really matters much.... But since googlel is asking me for a review of this place that's why I'm giving this review. I'm thankful that I have food to eat when there's so many people that don't. I just probably wouldn't go back to this location again.

The white widow with avocado is my favorite. The drinks are always so smooth and refreshing, really good for cotton mouth. The vibes are always welcoming and chill. I'm definitely going to be back.

Asked for extra extra cucumbers on my sammie, and let's just say they didn't disappoint. LOVE this location. Staff is friendly. Always clean. And the cookies are the bomb.

By popular team vote, my work chose this place to cater to our office day. Nothing against my team but personally, sandwiches are not exciting but I kept an open mind as I've never had Cheba Hut before. My initial reaction of disappointment proved to be right when I got to sample a sub. The catering order of subs were what I believe to be 12 inch subs that are cut in half and I ended choosing a half White Widow (6 inch sub). It was not bad flavor wise but there was nothing extraordinary. It was also very messy and started to break apart the more I ate because it was so soggy. I'm not sure why my team mates were so gung-ho about Cheba Hut. I feel that Jimmy John's and Firehouse Subs is way better. I'm just glad I didn't pay for this myself because I would have been really unhappy. There is a location kind of in the area of my home but after this experience, there is no way I would go out of my way for it. I can't speak to the customer service aspect as I was not the one who placed the order or picked it up but I will say that I appreciate our order being ready at the scheduled time and the nice packaging.

FRESH MUNCHIES & GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! 2/21/25 night staff was kind!! I'm so sad I forgot her name. My sandwich was amazing it did take a little bit so they gave me a free munchie . It was busy and the music was great.

I tried this place last week on a whim and absolutely fell in love. The sandwiches are insanely good and the service is great! I came back yesterday and the guy who rang me up; remembered me from last time which was very kind. I love the easy going vibe at the restaurant and that take out is an easy process. There's a bar for those who want to drink as well

My first time at this location, but as to be expected, the service and food were phenomenal. Thank you Cheba Hut for having consistently great sandwiches and nice staff members.

I've left a couple of not-so-great reviews in the past year--not out of spite, but because I genuinely believe this place has so much potential and had fallen short. That said, I owe a big apology because tonight reminded me why I loved it in the first place. Jaden was an absolute legend--personable, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure everything was spot on. You could tell he cared, and that made all the difference. This place is officially back as my go-to. I'm really glad I gave it another shot. Jaden, thank you for the smooth service, good vibes, and keeping the beer coming. And to Cheba, my bad for the past reviews--this one was a whole different level.

I ordered "The Kind" & got what looks like a "KGB" w/ everything I asked to not be put on it.

Sandwiches were delicious. The sauce and ratio of toppings were amazing and the meat itself (I got turkey) had so much flavor. I am picky about sandwiches but really thought these were great.

Nothing supersedes Alfalfa sprouts in a sandwich. Adding the cream cheese is FULL STOP! The Griefo is a top tier sandwich.

I had never been here before and the staff were super helpful in making recommendations. I'm glad I took their advice because the chicken bacon ranch sandwich was soooo good! I also grabbed a couple gooey balls to try and they were delicious! Truely live up to their name.

This place was delicious. In my mind, I had imagined what I wanted from a sandwich. It was only a hope, an ambition, barely an idea. I ordered the Kali Mist, and lo and behold, what I was served was the exact kind of delicious sandwich experience I had been dreaming of. The guy behind the counter was nice and helpful, and the Duffman table icon on a stick was fun. I would love to go back.

OG Cheba Hut! It's a "must not sleep on" type of place. The staff here is great, and they always remember us whenever we stop by! They serve up the best toasted subs, have a full bar, and are constantly hosting fun events for everyone to enjoy. My favorite sub is the Jamaican Red! Spicy Chicken with all the toppings!

Came in on a night that wasn't very busy, maybe only four other people near the bar area. Got two beers, one for me and one for my friend. Decided to head out to mill avenue. When I asked to close my tab the bartender told me "oh, it seems as though I gave your card to the wrong person. You'll need to cancel it. I'll give you a free drink next time you come in." ??? Gave no other explanation and also why would I have to wait for the next time, assuming I would come back? I haven't. Otherwise, the restaurant / to go area is always pretty decent.

Sandwich included 2 slices of meat and gave me food poisoning. The staff was living it up behind the counter so at least they're having fun while not handling food safely. Thanks a lot.

This is the best Cheba Hut to go to in the Valley. I have been to about three different locations so far and nothing compares to this one. The food always delivers, the people are friendly, funny, and welcome everyone--from office-goers on their lunch break to stoners venturing out for their nightly munchies. They are wildly involved with the community which cultivates such a lovely culture that makes for a wonderful environment to eat AND drink... yes.. you heard that correctly... as if it doesn't get any better this becomes a hidden gem on the weekends for a brew and good music. If you see Flo and you're a local, just know your night is about to get 10x better.

Even I, who isn't a fan of toasty breads, unless it's toast, couldn't speak ill of Cheba Hut. I would go into the same long stories that I go into every time I step foot in here. My "back in the day" stories. Every time. I was in a few months ago and met with a friend, I believe they've made changes since then. And even more different from way back. Foods on point. They're totally toasted, that's always been the thing. If you're not into that, give em a try anyway. I went with the power plant with jalapeno cilantro hummus. I'd do it again. Although I'd be bound to indulge in so many others. Mmm. Went with a pinner could have had a blunt for sure. There are shrooms under that bed of greens, pickle, onion, toms, a couple bells, guacamole, hummus.

Service was great! Noah the bartender was very attentive. The one thing i would recommend is having different flavor jell-o shots and adding flavor vodka to them. The cherry and lime flavors are gross.

The longest wait times for a sandwich you will ever experience. 45 minutes and counting...

There are only a few of theee sandwich shop locations, but this is the OG, the one that started their chain! I have been going there for about more than a decade now and what pulls me back is not just the quirkiness of the place with all its "blunt" names that are a double entendre, but also the real deal - the food. I have never had a problem with their food, no matter the number of times I have been there - no mixups, no order mess Dont expect great ambiance, but there will be good vibes all around. And the food Vs price is always a good value.

I love Cheba Hut and this location is no exception. The employees are always friendly and the food always tastes good. Service is always fast and the food always tastes fresh! This location is opened later then the other locations, so that's a plus! The white widow sandwich is my favorite!

Used to love coming in everyday till corporate started ruining the environment this location forces even regulars to id every time which makes me and other regulars feel unwelcome. They fired one of the best bartenders I've ever had even after she completed probation this used to be my favorite place to go and now I go to see the few people like Faith, Flow and Devon those too make it still worth going for 1 drink. The atmosphere was amazing when I moved here I could go have fun and feel comfortable since corporate started instigating these ridiculous changes that no other cheeba hut does its made it uncomfortable. On top of that now a creepy old man that got 86ed for being a creep to the girls is writing fake reviews and management is actually taking it seriously.

The atmosphere is fun and lively. Servers are friendly and upbeat. All of the subs on the menu, is named after strain of cannabis except for a few PoPo's like 5-O and KGB. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the subs could have more meat & cheese in them.

I always get great service at all the locations, and the food is always amazing, but I had to shout out the dude at the counter today. It's been a long week. Moving, work, finals. The way this man complimented my fit, showed love and made me feel so welcome, amazing. I wish this man and this location nothing but the best, because I felt such a big pick me up this time. Shoutout to Davon!!!

Love this place. The vibes are so good and the food is even better. All the employees are also super dope. Devante is one of the flyest cats I ever met. Highly recommend!

Service I want to take out order so the wrong driver doesn't pick up the order and one is left without dinner

Writing that you guys are going to do better is not cutting it anymore it's just a way to say okay and do nothing there's 1 star reviews way before mine and the service is still the same no changes being made just comments about changes being left on the reviews.

Pretty cool when the bartender is too busy drinking at the bar next door to serve customers.

I ordered a sandwich to go right before closing and I'm disappointed af. My order is wrong, the size of the sub is wrong , everything is just wrong. I specifically said no bell peppers and extra sauce and there's EXTRA bell peppers and NO sauce. Just idiotic lol save your money guys go to subway

Excellent subs! A large variety of specialty subs all named with a cannabis theme. The also have a decent little bar. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Are there twice in the past week. A definite recommend.

Love this place...my goal is to try all their sandwiches! I went to this place and another location twice in 1 days they're so good!

So slow, it's a minimum 30 minute wait for an average sub. Not worth it. If you go you will wait a long time for a below average sandwich.

Sadly I don't have any photos of this place because every time we couldn't wait to dig into the food. We have tried several sandwiches and they were all very delicious. We like the creative menu a lot as well, especially when you cannot decide what to eat and you can almost always find something that fits your mood here. Although I have never been inside of the store, it seemed to be lively and chill according to my partner. One time, our takeout food was delayed just by a little bit, and because of this, we were given free drinks and free desserts as compensation. What a pleasant customer service! The desserts were amazing! We would not hesitate to recommend this place to others especially if you are looking for a sandwich shop.

Online order placed. They forgot to make it. Allegedly they will refund me my money. Let's see. Cannot abide a business that screws up a simple thing like making the product you pay them to.

Subs are always fire Went during their lunch rush with a party of 6. Food was out to our table in no time at all and of course the service is always friendly and engaging. My go-to sub - Kali crush, blunt size of course

Jayden is an excellent bar tender! He was always attentive and respectful. Hes also a great conversationalist and made the overall feel of the bar welcoming and an overall great experience!

Flow and Hannah are cool bartenders and if you want a good experience they will give you one. I have been going here for years and the progress that flow and the restaurant has made with this bar and food is substantial in regarding quality of service.

Best sandwich shop around. I'm a huge sammy lover and I don't hesitate to recommend this place every time someone wants to get a quality and tasty sandwich. My personal favorites are the Jamaican Red, Kali Mist and Griefo. Rice Krispies are dank too. Kool Aid flavors are great. And what a creative way to construct a concept. Just all around an amazing place

I've been coming to Cheba Hut for years now and still love it. The Cali Mist is my go-to sandwich. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable for the higher-quality sandwiches that Cheba Hut serves. They play good music and have surprisingly good deals at the bar.

I highly recommend! There's some thing for everyone here. Even my little girl enjoyed eating it, as well as my older children. Beer selection is good also.

Cheeba hut is DELICIOUS! I have been going here since way before they ever expanded and its still as good as ever! The serving sizes are generous and they have an abundance of sandwich options - there is something for everybody. I personally ask to have my sandwich serviced with "spring mix" vs the regular lettuce and I always have it "double toasted". If you get a sandwich that comes with lettuce, try this special request next time, I promise you wont be disappointed! Inside, the store is funky. They have tons of "stoner" decorations and stickers everywhere. Even the beverages are funny. By the iced tea they have a picture of "Ice T" and on the ice cube dispenser, they have a picture of "Ice Cube". Anyhow, it's a fun little place to visit and the food is always great.

Was taken here by some friends that kept raving about cheba hut and my taste buds were blown away. Tried the midwest best and this is the best sandwhich ive ever had in my life. Looking forward to my next trip here again when im in the area.

I've been to several locations and the taste is always consistent. The service is quicker than you would think with so many people in line. I cannot tell you how amazing all the sandwiches have been.
