I was really surprised to have a disappointing experience with Cheeky Pea, especially given their many positive reviews. I had been hoping for a smooth and pleasant process.
My father placed an online order on Monday for pickup on Thursday and received a confirmation email stating he would be notified when the items were ready. However, by Friday (a day past the requested date), there was still no notification. He tried calling the number listed on their website several times throughout the day, but no one answered and no calls were returned. He became worried he’d been scammed, which was very distressing.
I decided to go to the Matraville location myself, during their listed opening hours, only to find the roller door shut and the place looking abandoned. After trying the phone again, I finally reached a lady (who didn’t provide her name). She explained that the staff member at Matraville was out on deliveries. This felt unprofessional, especially since their website clearly states pickup hours, and there was no sign posted at the door to explain the closure.
I asked if she could arrange delivery instead, which she did. While I appreciated that, there was no genuine apology, and the delivery itself felt rushed. The items were quickly handed to me, with no chance to confirm the order was correct, and the driver left immediately without any courtesy or acknowledgment.
Overall, the lack of communication, unreliable pickup arrangements, and poor customer service left us with a very disappointing experience. I hope this feedback helps the business improve, as I can see they are capable of better based on other reviews.
I want to support an Israeli business where I can, but this one has been a difficult one to support.
