The Best Fried Chicken In London

"Few things warm the soul like a group of friends alongside a basket of fried chicken, and CheeMc is one of London’s go-to spots for such a pleasure. The low-key Korean restaurant has locations in Elephant and Castle and Soho and is best known for its KFC that comes in seven different flavours. Our favourite is the honey chilli, which is equal parts sweet and spicy, though the spicy gochoo is also great. Particularly because it’ll have you fighting back tears for multiple reasons when it comes down to that last wing." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager

The 15 Best Restaurants In Elephant And Castle

"CheeMc is a straightforward Korean restaurant that rivals anything the Colonel's doing. The casual spot is stripped back, with simple black tables draped with Korean and British flags and the kind of seating that'll leave you numb and re-thinking padded underwear. But that's fine, because you don't need faux flowers and tasselled cushions when you're nose deep in fried chicken, or when you're glugging water after a mouthful of ferocious kimchi fried rice. The fried chicken alone is worth coming here for—the batter shatters and reveals tender meat, and our favourite coating is the honey chilli which is equal parts sweet and spicy." - jake missing, sinead cranna

My new favourite Korean restaurant! The highlight for me was the Korean fried chicken - we got honey chili flavour which was delicious, but there are also plenty of other flavors that I'm keen to come back and try. Chicken was crispy, crunchy and juicy. The various other dishes we ordered were huge portion sizes and also very tasty. We spent about £20 per person on food. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

Very small and compact restaurant however every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious here. The kids finished off the fried chicken quicker than I could take a photo. The only small thing that I took a star off for was they forgot the second portion of fried chicken we ordered. And also the delivery guys kept leaving the front door wide open bringing in the freezing air which after a while became annoying having to get up to close the door while trying to have a meal with the kids. Overall would recommend and would visit again but on a warmer night.

CheeMc is one the best Korean restaurant in Southwark. The fried chicken in particular is a must try. You can also find a huge variety of dishes such as jajangmyeon and budae jjigae. Staff are also very friendly. Definitely a place to go to enjoy your dinner

Everything tastes really good and authentic, believe me and just try for yourself. Literally the most authentic Korean chicken I’ve had outside of Korea including KFC brands in NYC. The portions are HUGE as well. No lies, I would eat here every day.

This is one of the finest chicken restaurants ever. Any time I'm in London I try and make a trip to this place. The chicken is delicious cooked to perfection. I try to get as much as I can even though I always end up wanting more. Staff are friendly and there's a wide selection of items on the menu although for me it's the main draw. Place is cash only which is a bit of a nuisance but there's an ATM nearby. You know what its probably a good thing because if they did do card the place would bankrupt me.

overall: obsessed. all time guilty pleasure. it’s a crime not to try their honey butter fried chicken. tip ❗️: personally, a whole chicken is enough for 2, maybe with one small side if u r extra hungry. 3 side dishes 🥕: simple seasoning w/ sesame oil & pinch of salt. excellent contrast to the greasiness of fried chicken (oily in a good way). tho the spinach was a tad bit too cold, bits of crushed ice in it… rose tteokbokki 🌹: disappointed. rice cake was cooked to the perfect chewiness. but the sauce was completely overpowered by the bacon, there was no creaminess nor spiciness. there’s also a very odd sour aftertaste. honey butter fried chicken 🍯: BEST korean fried chicken in london. never saw this powder seasoning flavour in other korean restaurant & it’s just absolute divine. crunchy batter coating tender juicy chicken. it has some fried sweet potato in it as well. we got half portion. cheesy powder chips 🧀: thickness of potatoes is between french fries & chips. again, they know what’s the deal with fried food, extremely crispy batter that is not too oily nor dry. the cheese powder is less sweet compared to the fried chicken.

I absolutely loved their Kimchi fired Rice and the Seafood pancakes. Service was fast and we had a good time here. I'll come back for sure. Booking reservations suggested as they do not have many tables

Unfortunately the food is pretty average, good service but not good value. I really wanted to like this place and maybe we came on an "off" day. ~£57, for 3 mains and a side of kimchi. The "Original" chicken was crispy but very over done, unseasoned and dry, we actually got chunks of just bone battered too. Seafood pancake was crispy but too thick, so tasted doughy, but the filling was generous though. A bowl of kimchi is ~£5. Pork bulgogi was okay and so were the 2 Cass beers. Not good value for money. For a place that has signage saying "Been tired of Kentucky?" and "Be excited with Korean", it just isn't here I'm afraid...
