"Popeyes founder Al Copeland’s Cheesecake Bistro has closed its doors for good, reports NOLA.COM. The St. Charles Avenue building that housed the restaurant, once an abandoned car dealership referenced in Ann Rice’s vampire Lestat novel Memnoch the Devil, is more famous for the legendary fight it caused between Rice and Copeland than it ever was for its food." - Stephanie Carter

Bar service is slow but worth the $5 happy hour specials. Food is good (BBQ shrimp poboy) but very rich and saucy. Cheesecake is delicious. Kitchen wait times vary.

Great food and service. Complimentary valet parking is an added bonus. Attentive servers and manager went to every table greeting guests. Went on a Sunday around noon. Place was not crowded. Background music and overall restaurant decor is unique and inviting. I ordered shrimp and grits. It came with an egg (your way) onions and bell peppers and a red sauce. The flavor combination was delectable. There was a slight hint of spiciness but it was manageable and I normally do not eat anything spicy. Husband had chicken and waffles. Another delectable dish with a little spiciness, but again it was tolerable.

The food was decent but we only ordered one appetizer and two sandwiches and it took an hour and a half even though we gave our whole order to our waitress when we first ordered. We took our dessert to go. Took her almost 15 minutes to come to us initially. There were a couple of large tables but also several empty tables so we couldn't decide if it was our waitress or the kitchen. We also had been told at our timeshare that with a special coupon we could get a free app. with two entrees, Which we ordered. We were also told our desserts would be free with another coupon. Initially, they didn't want to honor both but we were obviously upset and they finally did. The food was ok but not worth the wait. Cheesecake was good.

Food was delicious and service was very friendly and helpful. But... I realize that my girlfriend and I came here on Valentine's Day, so delayed service was to be expected. Still, the delay between our appetizer and our main course was literally an hour, which seems a little ridiculous. And there were a significant number of empty tables visible from where we were sitting, which undermines the argument that it was solely due to how busy they were. Will definitely be coming back to eat here again, but I won't be expecting my food to arrive in a timely manner when I do.

The waiter was nice and super attentive. However, the food was horrible. The meatloaf had chunks of bell peppers and onions. No taste at all. My husband isn't a picky eater and he didn't enjoy the meal either. The side of steam broccoli was hard as bricks. I don't know what's going on but it needs improving. I gave it two stars because of the waiter. Just horrible. We tried salt, pepper and hot sauce to get it flavor. It didn't help. The waiter ask if we needed a to go box..... NOPE. NO THANKS.

this location continues to struggle. The wait staff is the only reason my friends and I returned. Again there was a new wait staff, they bartender was in training and they were out of certain foods and drinks. I'm believe this will be the case for this location until management learns to be proactive instead of reactive. I shouldn't have to tell management to inform the bartender not yup sniff the mixers before pouring then into our drink because someone should have thought about ensuring labels were on the mixers already! Ugh... they used to be so good.
