We’ve been excited to try this restaurant for over a year and visited the Landfall location last night, Sun Nov 16th. My daughter & I are grilled cheese addicts but sadly, the experience was underwhelming. The woman at the counter wasn’t overtly rude, but she sure was not pleasant or friendly. I expected a decent wait but never mind waiting on good food, so no issues with that. To not offer ice w/complimentary filtered water that is warm, in such a highly regarded establishment, just seems contradictory & negatively influenced the overall experience. Even the canned soda my daughter purchased, gets warm after a bit, so in my mind, not offering ice seems in conflict with our $60.00 tab. Maybe just an off day but I didn’t enjoy my maple bacon. The flavor profile & ingredient proportions just seemed off. The tomato soup was, in my opinion, awful. It is smoky red pepper tomato so I expected notes of smoke, but this tasted like reheated canned soup with half bottle of liquid smoke added. Asian fries were no better, and arrived cold. Mac Daddy was okay but bland, but cheesecake was excellent. Very clean also, but wouldn’t return to this location. Maybe cargo district is better.

This is a fun, clean, lots of tables creative grilled cheese brick and mortar outpost from the original food truck idea restaurant. They have some creative sandwiches and they come out hot and the bread is crispy- just like it’s supposed to be. This is comfort food at its best. The wait is a minute, but they make everything to order, so you can’t really complain. The people there were very nice and super helpful.

Great local food shop. Incredible assortment of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. The maple bacon grilled cheese absolutely delicious. Parmesan fries and the beer-cheese fries were just as good. Prices are a bit high ($40 for two people) and the service was slower than expected, but we were not in a hurry. Definitely enjoyed our meal.

If you come here you have to get the hoss Italian sandwich. One of the best I’ve had. Their house sauce is also very good. Quick service aswell!

Most amaaaaaazing grilled cheese sandwich I’ve had in a LONG time! I can’t remember the name but it had bacon and syrup! Melty…cheesy…bread was buttery soft with a slight crunch, once you bit into it! Parmesan fries were fried to perfection! They have a local lemonade company’s products for purchase! Man, I want to go back after writing this review!

Nice atmosphere. Service was great. We both picked a sandwich to try and fries, drinks and water. It was over $40. Definitely more than we typically spend, thanks to spliting meals. There was more food than we could eat. The buffalo chicken cheese sandwich was really good, a lot of chicken and buffalo sauce. It didn't make it to our return to list, but that's only because we don't usually do sandwich meals.

While the food was pretty good, I don't think the price matched the meal. The fries portion was a good size. I didn't like that the only soda options were in a can at $2.50 each. The table was sticky, but I can't say if this is the norm. I do have to say that the location is great, right in the cargo district. If you are looking for a bite while walking around, Cheese Smith isn't a bad option at all.

Google
Cheesesmith served up one of the best sandwiches we’ve had — the PIMENTO BLT is an absolute monster. My wife and I shared it and loved the crispy bacon, fresh tomato, romaine, pepperoncini mayo, and their amazing house-made pimento cheese all come together perfectly on warm ciabatta. The staff was friendly, the service was fast, and the restaurant was spotless, making the whole visit even better. If you’re in Wilmington and want a sandwich that hits every mark, the PIMENTO BLT is a must-try. We’ll definitely be back.

Yelp
Stepped in for post garden grub. A docent recommended Cheesesmith. I was impressed with the quality and portions of the dishes. The staff was helpful in providing recommendations of their favorites fries style. The grilled cheese oozed with every bite and the tomato jam hit with a punch of flavor. The interior itself is simple, casual, cute with house plants trailing on the walls.

Yelp
Great reasonably priced casual place that serves tasty grilled cheese sandwiches and beer. It is good place for a crowd with outdoor seating. There were nine of us and everyone enjoyed their sandwiches and sides.

Yelp
I got their big seller the buffalo chicken grilled cheese. It was delicious at 9:30 pm after a day of sun and drinks. The bread was perfectly crisp and soft. Buttered but not greasy. The middle was full of flavor not only from the buffalo chicken but there was a pickled flavor from the carrots and celery that balanced the richness of the cheese wonderfully. I would love to go back and try the goat cheese fig one! The place itself was clean and had awesome branding. I bought a sticker with a skeleton pulling apart a grilled cheese. The employees were nice and the place was clean.

Yelp
One of the favorites when we visit Wilmington. In the Cargo District, where you can park in their lot or on the street. Some of the best food I've had in the city. A lot of different sandwiches and items to choose from with each sandwich crafted perfectly. Parmesan fries was 10/10 alone; plenty of cheese and seasoning, no soggy fries. Food comes out fairly quick after you order and plenty of seating whether table or bartops along the wall. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Who puts mayo on an Italian sub?!? This place does, even after specifically requesting NO mayo. Had the request been followed, it would have been a great sandwich. Good size with a decent amount of fresh meat and veggies. But mayo on an Italian sandwich, really?!?! I guess this is what you get for ordering a non- grilled cheese sandwich at a grilled cheese place. The staff was nice to let us place an order 15 minutes before closing. Note - they close at 9 pm on a Saturday, not 10 pm listed on Yelp. No hours found on their website. However, kitchen may not give a flying care that you specified no mayo on your sandwich.

Yelp
Cheesesmith is a very simple and niche spot. Just like this review will be straight to the point and do its job well. Cheesesmith is more of a place to eat rather than a dining experience, but the food is phenomenal. Visually pleasant, extremely tasty, and always cooked well. The garlic parm fries with their in house made ranch is amazing. They have multiple flavors of locally made lemonade which is amazing but quite sweet. Overall the food carries this place, and that is what matters. There isn't a wow factor or much else to offer. They have built a nice spot with a quaint ambiance. This gets a big 3.1 on the Table a la Mooc scale. Will be back 100%!

Yelp
I am so glad we made this a must try on our trip! There is an excellent variety of sandwiches with great flavor. The fries are awesome and can definitely be split between people. It was clear everything was made to order but it didn't take long to get our food. 10/10 would recommend!
